Since I havel installed WM6 on my XDA Cosmo I have the new text input method xt9 on my Cosmo.
Normally this would be good, but many times when I will enter a space after one word the Cosmo use the proposed t9 text which is very often wrong!
I haven't found a possibility to disable the xt9 method and I hope someone could help me?
Thanks
press 'fn' then 'space' and then deselect xT9 in the menu.
Thank you very much cymark,
You make my life easier ;-)

But someone knows how to disable it completely, maybe some register hack?
Is there a way to disable T9? On the Cavalier T9 is silly and gets in the way. Thanks in advance for your time ...
When Typing a message, press the "Fn" Button then "Space" a menu should pop up click ABC instead of XT9 English,
When you do this once it should stay like this for good, do it again if you want to revert back to T9!
Perfect
That did it, thanks!
On my Kaiser I always set word correction to be T9 (pop up list of suggestions) rather than XT9.
I did the change using advanced config utility. The advanced config utility I have for the TP2 does not have this feature.
Who know how to adjust the registry to enable T9 instead of XT9?
Not sure if this is what you're looking for but here goes...
Go to "Settings" tab in TF3D
Tap "All Settings"
Go to "Personal" tab
Tap "Input"
With "Touch Input" selected, tap "Options..."
Go to "XT9 Settings" tab
Uncheck "Auto-Substitution"

Thanks for the reply but that's not it.
In XT9 the default, word suggestions appear in a row across the screen.
In T9 the word suggestions appear in a pop up block on the screen.

Has anyone figured out how to enable T9 instead of XT9 on the TP2?
I think the answer to your question is found in the thread:

I'm not very sure as I don't know what the T9 is supposed to look like...

T9 is a text predictive input method found mostly on mobile phones, where you use numeric keys to enter letters (hence the letters on each key) and the software predicts the word by the sequence in which you press the keys. This input method is present on my Dopod D810.
The word completion function being discussed is not a part of T9, but a Pocket PC/Windows Mobile feature that has always been present on PPC devices (way before these PDA convergence phones) but has been replaced by HTC to give a different behaviour and appearance.
I think I have the problem figured.
Once you do the reg tweaks T9 pop up word suggestion works great until you try and do a new contact.
When you move from a text field to a number field the keypad automatically changes to numeric and after that it will not change back again at all for any text field.
Some clever person out there needs to work out what other registry change needs to be made to re-enable the auto switching of the keyboard between text and numeric fields while still maintaining the T9 word suggestion.
I have an HTC Touch Pro2 from T-Mobile running WinMo 6.1. It seems that under Settings, Personal, Input, the "Word Completion" tab is missing between "Input Method" and "Options" that was there on my previous WinMo 5 device. Is this feature missing from WinMo 6.1 in general, or has it been disabled by T-Mo? if it's been disabled, is there a way to enable it?
yeah it's missing in my Tmo TP2 too. I do miss the auto correction feature that was on that tab.
edit : I did not reading the message right sorry

now will that enable the tab to change the settings in the Input settings or just enable the options? I want the word completion, but not the word suggestion.
tkali is right- they are one and the same. Word completion and word correction are both linked to disabling T9

Quick question about the reg edit. I havetriededitthe first valeu but it tells me access is denied. Is there something I am missing?
I made the registry edits mentioned in the other thread (copied below for reference) but I still don't have the missing Word Completion tab even after a soft reset.
From the other thread referenced above:
Diable eT9. Enable COMP IME. This is a registry edit.
Go to: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\layouts\e001 0409
Edit: Ime File = \Windows\compime.dll
Layout Text = COMP IME
Go to: HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9
Edit: XT9SupportMSSip= 0
That will bring you back to the good old word suggestion and dynamic auto completion.
yeah unfortunately it doesn't bring back the word completion tab, which i was hoping.
What exactly does it do then? I didn't notice any change.
it should enable it so that when you're typing, it'll give you 4 (changeable) suggested words as well as auto-correct some words. (type comming & it'll change to coming)
I like the auto-correct feature on the Tilt/MDA because you could type contractions without the apostrophe & the phone would auto-correct it for you. I hate the word suggestion & always had that turned off.
I don't know why they'd take this tab & feature out of the input settings/phone.
I'm still not getting any suggested words; I used to get them when using the Letter Recognizer (WinMo 5), but I don't get them with that or the QWERTY. I may have inadvertently set the # of words to suggest to 0; do you happen to know the registry setting for that?
I have a friend who has a WinMo 6.1 phone, but not from T-Mobile, and the Word Suggestion tab is visible. Seems there must be a setting for that somewhere that T-Mo disabled for some reason.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question, but I got Word Completion/Suggestion working just fine on my T-Mo Touch Pro 2 by pressing the XT9 button on the soft keyboard
Doesn't work while using the hardware keyboard though, which may be what you're asking about
yeah, we're talking about the function working with the hardware keyboard
Gotcha! Ignore me then
OK got the word completion to work but now I have no "space" instead I have ".com" there. Anyone have this problem?...Thanks
Does anyone have the factory settings?
I was actually referring to the on-screen input methods, not the slide-out keyboard. On my previous WinMo 5 device, the suggested words appeared regardless of which method I used - Letter Recognizer, QWERTY, etc. That's what was I looking for.
I also discovered what I did wrong - I had an "n" instead of an "m" in the name of the DLL. I corrected that, did a soft-reset and Viola! I have the suggested words now. It's hard to distinguish an "n" and "m" on that small screen.
The tab is still missing under Settings, Input - I would still like to have that visible if anyone figures out how to enable it.
Thanks for the help.
does anyone have the qwerty reg settings, now i no longer have that function all i have is regular keyboard or when qwerty is selected i have just numbers...thanks
Problem solved T-mo Word completion/no space bar
OK here is what I did on my T-mobile TP2 to get word completion working with the space bar (Mine (space bar) disappeared after I did the reg hack) I put these settings in and now I have word completion and the space bar back.
I went to
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\layouts\e001 0409
Edit: Ime File = \Windows\compime.dll
Layout Text = eT9 IME
Go to: HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9
Edit: XT9SupportMSSip= 0
Now on MY T-mo TP2 I have word Comp and a space bar also. Hope this helps someone...Tj
@TrekkerJmm does SYM on your hardware keyboard still work? (ALT + ,)
On ICS the keyboard predicted words, and when touching a suggested word it would automatically insert a space.
The JB keyboard does none of this whatever setting I try, also I constantly have to add highlighted words in the dictionary again and again. Like when I added a word in twitter, I have to add the same word again in whatsapp. I'm on the verge of trying swiftkey now but don't understand where the great stock keyboard from ICS has gone?
I'm I missing something?!
I've turned off the new JB predictive typing, but from what I remember, you don't need to worry about it inputing spaces. If you hit a "predicted" word (up on the top bar), then start typing, it inserts the space automatically. It just does it when you start typing the next word after a predicted one, rather then when you hit the predicted word. I just turned it back on to confirm. It does put the space in when you continue typing. Try it...
So BTW, the ICS keyboard didn't have next word prediction, it simply had current word correction, which is different. In JB, the top bar shows the next word prediction. If you want it to go back to the "ICS style" of just current word correction, go into:
Language & input > Android Keyboard "Settings" > Advanced settings > uncheck "Next word prediction"
