Does anybody know which WiFi chipset is in the Artemis? I know it's a TI, but I'm not sure what the model number is.
Thanks,
Ozy

Greetings, can anyone please tell me if there is any way to get my T-mobile device to recognize other GSM frequencies? It is currently a dual-band pocket pc device and I would like to make it such that it recognizes the 850 Cyngular frequency in the US. In other words, how can I make my dual-band device a quad or tri-band device?

Hmm. i would say only by soldering. It's a hardware limitation of the device...
Stefan
The MDA/XDA II device is already tri-band.
or did I missunderstand you?

That's right. But the MDA/XDA I is only a dual band phone.....
Stefan
Yeah, my device is only dual band. I thought that perhaps all these devices initially had the potential or ability to pick up any signal but that it was a software issue to actually start doing so. I am not too good with the techy lingo, but is there something called "soft phone"? I can't imagine companies manufacturing very similar phones overseas and in the US and the only difference being that one is dual band and the other tri band. It makes sense that these devices are all quad band and the company places limitations on them depending on where they are purchased
no the HF VHF and UHF and so forth need a frontend which cant just be programmed like that it have to do with filters and such as in before the signal ever get close to being digital and programmable
GSM BAND SWITCHING SOFTWARE
DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHERE CAN I GET A HOLD OF THIS? THANKS
hi Rudegar
can you shed a little more light on the filters and hardware change that would be required to change a frequency or activate another if the chip has it. ( sometimes it is capable but not activated )
Hi there,
Can someone explain if there is any real difference between the Blue Angel versions? i-mate PDA2K, MDA III, QTEK 9090, IIs and so on...
I am talking about a real difference for example the amount of ROM memory (which in some places I see 64mb and some places 96mb, which is correct?) operating system version and so on...
If there is a difference, which should I buy?
Thanks.
no difference
There are differences actually. Depending on model you might not get WiFi built in or a camera built in.
TMobile which is to release the MDA III might not have a camera
Sprint is releasing 2 versions with and without the camera, but both will be without WiFi
To my knowledge only WiFi and the camera are the missing parts from some models

Great, thanks.
And does it have 64mb ROM or 96mb ?
Ed,
What links do you have to support this?
All phone that are out today are the same. In the future there will be some without Camera's for the corporate users. The only thing that I have seen without WiFi will be the i-mate JAM but that looks completely different.
ok here goes:
this one says 96mb:

and this one 64mb:

Sprint - Comes in the 6600/6601 (AudioVox) models. Both models are without Wifi support. The 6600 is the one that comes with the Camera.
http://www.sprint.com/business/products/phones/ppc6601_allPcsPhones.jsp
This link just shows that the 6600 model comes with a camera
http://www.pocketpccentral.net/news/10-26-04_ppc6600.htm
Verizon - Should be the same AudioVox models that Sprint uses
The whole reason for the lack of WiFi support is rumored to be a conflict with the EV-DO signal used by CDMA. You can look in many different forums for a discussion on this. I personally think the lack of WiFi support is just to save on support costs.
Cingular and ATT are supposed to be getting the Siemens SX66. It is supposed to be the full HTC Blue Angel specs. Nothing missing
http://www.engadget.com/entry/6548012790166434/
T-Mobile is calling it the MDA III which is already being sold in Germany. The US model may or may not come with a camera.
SX66 May not have a camera. I think they will do what they are with the sprint version. one with and without the camera... It's not actually out yet and "no one" officially knows yet.
Not all Blue Angels are the same !!
Some fly better than others.
In Australia we have 2 models of PDA2K.
PDA2K EVDO -
Phone/Radio - EVDO/1XRTT/CDMA
No Wifi
PDA2K GSM -
Phone/Radio - GSM Triband
Wifi onboard
Hello,
I just got a O2 Exec and I was wondering if it was possible to enabling 850mhz for Cingular compatibility as I live in the boonies and It looks like this is all I can get....
Thank you!!
Enabling 850mhz
The phone you purchased is commenly refered to as a Tri-band phone. the three frequency it can work at are 900Mhz, 1800Mhz & 1900Mhz. To answer your question. it is not compatible with 850Mhz.
I know what you are asking, I have been trying to find out myself for a while. I mean if they can add GPS to the Hermes someone should be able to do this? Maybe it isnt possible or maybe the people who can have no reason to? Since me and you seem to be the only ones needing it theres no demand for it. Honestly at this point I would pay someone to to do research on this!
its not possible
and fyi they cant add gps to the hermes
That sucks on both counts. Thanks for the info at least we have a definitive answer.
I wonder if anyone (smarter than me) would be interested in investigating/cooking a I900 Omnia Rom with I907 Radio Firmware.
Based on this, I am fairly certain that the Omnia I907 is just the I900 without the front camera and with different Firmware.
Has anyone had experience with the Qualcomm RTR6285 chipset? I.e. is it in any of the HTC phones?
>>>
What I can tell from the FCC files for the i-900 Internal Photos at https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout =500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=476604&fcc_i d='A3LSGHI900 is that Samsung is using a Qualcomm RTR6285 for it radio which according to Qualcomm:
"Support for Eight UMTS Bands, Four EGPRS Bands, Triple-Band Receive Diversity and GPS Integrated into Power-Optimized RTR6285 Device" Qualcomm News and Events - Qualcomm Announces World’s First Single-Chip, RF CMOS UMTS Transceiver with Integrated Receive Diversity and GPS.
So I think that it will be a matter of firmaware update to have it working on any UMTS.
I hope this helps, based on this I went ahead a bought my Omnia! Can't wait to have it!!
Guess no luck yet
hi
i have diamond of Indian version and it is unable to register on any 3G network......... i just want to know is diamond support 3G
Yes... It has 3g and HSDPA/WCDMA. You can confirm it at www.htc.com.
No..Indian Version does not have 3g..Our chipset is different...It is Qualcomm® MSM7206A™ 528 MHz which is the same as Qualcomm MSM® 7201A™ 528MHz minus 3g chip and internal GPS...Man even I didn't know that before I buyed Diamond... So no 3G for p3490
I dont know about 3G but my HTC Diamond P3490 supports GPS.
I have tried it with Sygic MapmyIndia & it works really good.
