Hi guys,
Was planning to buy one of iTech's new bluetooth, red laser, virtual keyboards, I see from a review @ Dave's Ipaq
http://davesipaq.com/articles/iPAQ_Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard_iTECH_2P/1.html
that there are problems bonding to certain Ipaqs, has anyone tried to bond one to an XDA IIi? They are £120 odd, available soon from Expansys,
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=118539,
but obviously already available elsewhere.
A friend of mine did buy one but complained about fingers hurting after tapping on the projected keyboard surface. The other problem is also to find a large flat surface for the projection, specially when on the move.
We reviewed one a while back and the conclusion was it was a great gadget but impractical, a decent bluetooth keyboard would be a much more practical solution.
Problem with VKB
Hi folks!,
I have this gadget and its very cool, but until now I can`t pair VKB with my PPC (HTC Apache with Widcomm BT Stack). Simply my PPC not "see" the VKB as Bluetooth device and the I-Tech`s Tech support don`t answer my questions. Someone can help me?
Thank you in advance
I have the CL800BT from Celluon which is apparently very similar but supposedly a few more advanced options. (more key shortcuts)
Im using it with a HTC P3600i on WM6.
In general, most of these devices were released in WM2003 period and drivers are built for them.
I have had very good success pairing and using the CL800BT, but am yet to work out the mouse function.
After a deep thinking and consideration I thought I need to benchmark the market -or in this case the Forum. I have been having Jasjar (Universal) for quite sometime now and was not so sure whether I keep it or not.
Every span of couple of months new device is launched with this feature or that benefit. Many that have proved functionality and other proved to be a total disgrace to the ppc industry
And since I am a member in this forum for almost over a year now, I wanted to ask all -at least who will visit this thread- how many of those are using Universal and those who are using other devices ranked in this Forum? If any would -thankfully- be coming up with serious statistics of the wide use of Universal vs. other devices and brands this would definitely indicate the global domination of such device and the versatility not to mention that with the latest ROMs this device became more and more dearer to me as much it is to others -I reckon so!
I am sure this would help all those programmers to focus more on developing roms and apps compatible with Universal than others. I would ask anyone who reads this post to contribute in voting and comments would surely be appreciated.

Why not start a poll?
Universal
Hi Cyber-mate
To let you know; I do love my Universal and I'm using it 24 hours a day!
So I think I'm the first who answers your question
'Yeah... Lets start a poll'.
Cheers, Leo
Hi Cyber-mate
Have to say, I have persevered with the Universal, and that since the genius rom builders on here have cooked up some of their magic I am at last a happy Uni owner. I bought mine in Sep/Oct of 2005 and I can honestly say now I find mine usefull. I'm not a heavy user, but it is my main squeez (so to speak).
Regards
Mavrik
The reason there are so many devices, is because the market can support them as different people like different things.
There is no such thing as the best device, or the perfect device, it's what you think suits your needs the closest.
Currently, the Universal is the highest specification device, but soon the Athena will be out, but this is much larger, and not designed as a mobile pda phone, and also the Omni, which is the replacement for the Universal.
Really though, if you like your Universal, then great, if you don't, then listening to other people's views on what is good or bad will only confuse you.
We like the Universal, but there are many more that hate it.
I love my unversal too, and I think I keep it until I can get an Apple iPhone.
Or maybe I never change it to another device, because it has all thing in one, except GPS. But I can live without it, still we have BT GPS on the market.
Confused!!!...
Not sure what you want!!!...
Benchmark PDA? Yes I like my Universal!!!...
Benchmark Forum? Yes this is a good forum!!!... Of course, somethings are not allowed here but can be found somewhere!!!...
Benchmark self cooked ROM? This is definitely the best before WM6 starts to be banned!!!... If this banned forever, well one good thing less!!!...

You see CWKJ, there are 100s of opinions from 100s of poeple. However, being a person among a large comunity that consider Universal as a gr8 device that has got the all-in-one! I mean, just check any of those posts with a ROM related topic, you'd see more than 100k entries and with no doubt this indicate that it is widely used and YET proven to be a
top-of-the-list device.
I am sure many more would agree with me and to tell you the truth, Apple IPhone is a pansy one.
We are talking FUNCTIONALITY here and not looks and colors! A device that can connect wirelessly, bluetooth, camera, keyboard and many others proves to be a true Pocket PC.
And hey, one more thing, when we talk about a Pocket PC, we aint talking mobile phone, I mean apple to apple
Hi,
about the Universal, I have to say it's a wonderful device which can be very useful and helpful. Thanks to its VGA display you can browse Internet really well not like those other devices with smaller resolutions.
The "laptop alike" makes it again very useful to write anything, even long texts.
I think about it more like a little laptop replacement (...ok the OS is not really a good OS replacement but I guess this would change with Linux...). It's another way of PPC, since I got my Hermes (about two weeks ago) I see how it's different, I use the Hermes with just one finger (almost everything) while I don't use the keyboard too much....on the other hand with my Uni I almost did everything with the keyboard.
So now with these two devices I have to say I use the Hermes as an "stable" PPC and the universal to try every new ROM is created, I'm trying to learn how to cook them, etc so now I think I'm enjoying the Uni even more!
I've owned a couple of these HTC phones, formerly a Cingular/Siemens SX66, and also a small one by Audiovox...can't remember model but WM based, now got a Tmobile Dash.
All based on Windows Mobile, and my question is: HTC PHONES DO THEY REALLY WORK???
In the Forums I read nothing but problems, my experience's not good either. My first SX66 was defective, the replace froze way too often/needed reset (WM froze, CONNECTIVITY was POOR as it was on the Audiovox (I threw it against the wall and smashed to pieces) and STILL IS on the Dash..maybe not as BAD
I want to install a new language support on the Dash....doesn't seem to be possible
I "upgraded" to WM6 but I think I actually lost rather than gained in terms of versatility features and feel...
I'm thinkin of gettin a TyTn....but is it worth the aggravations and headaches, since I'm going to need to unlock and most likely extra language support for text messaging.....Is it possible to Add???
INPUT/OPINIONS WELCOME
THANKS
Sounds like you'd be happier with a iPhone...
Probably I'd be happier....
with an iPhone...if it was a 3rd Gen but still lags behind
BTW in the list I forgot to include the Treo 750....another flop...I've had it for some time and it's a waste
Just out of curiousity, what are you expecting from your phone? So far the dash has handled a lot of what I threw at it.
And yes, HTC phones work...at least as well as WM6 lets them.
I would recommend a title change for this thread. The question "do they really work" is a really stupid one.

Of course you're only going to hear about problems on forums, that's what they're there for: to find answers to your problems. People don't normally spend time praising something they own, there's no need for it.
As far as HTC goes, I have been pretty happy with my Dash. After getting all the nuisances tweaked, I can't picture the phone being much better.
PS - **** the iPhone. Worst device I have ever used.
PPS - I agree with changing the title of this thread. It is silly.
perhaps this is more the OP's speed?
I wouldn't get a Tytn.
I was so happy changing from a tytn to the Excalibur. There's still problems with the stability of WM professional vs WM standard.
Standard seems more robust and usable as a phone.
Also 3G on the tytn although is nice drains the battery.
I used to change phones every six months. The tytn only lasted 3 months before I was fedup with it. The excalibur is a phone which might actually be used for the full 2 year contract.
Well can't understand what's silly about the title, but the question is: 1) As with the "normal" Windows...xp-mill...etc" the OS suckes!!!
Microsoft spends so much money on developing but still SUCKS! keeps freezing and it's very unstable...I had so many fights with my GF because she couldn't hear me while using a "Blue Angel"..."this only happens with your phone...etc"
as for the connection quality these HTC if don't have a GOOD connection you're very likely to be stuck with an UNUSABLE piece of hardware.
I hate when the person next to me 's talking madly and I can't even connect.
Last but not LEAST, I think companies try too hard to limit/direct people's free choice! If there's a contract in force leave free choice how I want to use MY phone, therefore they ought to be HIGHLY CUSTOMIZEABLE...
In other words they only do a GREAT JOB @ screwing you around.
If someone 's satisfied with that, well...their choice...I know I'm not
Best Wishes

Nope.
This is why there is a dedicated website, forum, community, etc revolving around them.
I'm a huge fan of the Elmo walkie talkie myself.

Choose something non-HTC for yourself, this forum will thank you

In Short: Yes they do work
But I have had a HTC Blue Angel (SX66), Faraday (2125), Tornado (sp5m), Wizard (8125), Tytn (8525), Excalibur (dash), Treo 750, Star Trek (8500), Vox (s710), Cavalier (c730). All phone have some issues, but I can tell you seriously they work better than any other phone on the market. And you shouldnt be worried that people complain about them you should be excited that these phones give you the freedom to log onto a website like this in order to solve problems instead of just complain.
I had my cavalier for a month before all of a sudden I just upgraded it with full youtube integration because of this website.
Be happy you have a phone that gives you the ultimate ability to do everything.
Plus HTC knows how to make a phone teh sexy

If your computer freezes or gets blue screens it's 90% of the time your hardware that fails. And if you are so unhappy about windows xp then I suggest you use linux..see what you can make of that.
As far as i'm consurned the Windows mobile phones are quite customizeable as long as you have some sense of what you are doing.
IGNORANCE IS BLISS!
Hi
well I'm having my HD for already 2 weeks and I have been reading and trying software's for a LOT of hours!!, mostly productive ones because I will worry about the look later due I need to start working with it soon.
now after this time my trial software are starting to expire then I must decide soon what I'm going to buy.
I'm decided about several software, but I'm having problems about a good agenda or Personal Daily Management software.
I've tried:
agendus (because I had a Palm TX before and this was in my opinion the best one, but it's not the same for WM yet)
Pocket Informant: quite good and with a lots of features lamentably fingerfriendly is not one of this.
Agenda one: really like it and it's quite fingerfriendly, and the interface is really good
then I would like to know why so many of you have decided for PI, what do you use that other software cant offer? I just want to make a good purchase, I already expend a lot of money in the phone and this is another expense and I don't want to regret in the future finding that I want to do something that I can't with the one I bought!
the other question is: why so many use a calendar application? since the PI or the software you are using hasthis feature and is the program you use to edit and create everything that the calendar shows? it's this right?
thanks !!
BTW I tryed thumbCAL too, but it's too simple.
no one can give me a tip?
I've just been looking at this (http://www.htcwiki.com/page/HTC+Artemis) and it says the Artemis has RS232 through a proprietary connector.
There's nothing on XDA-developers about this (yes, I searched the Artemis forums), and I can't find anything that looks like a concealed port, so I was wondering if this was correct but maybe not on my model or something.
This'd be really, really useful for interfacing the phone with other electronics so I'm really hoping that it's not just a typo on htcwiki!
Thanks for any help!
