Silencing the CoPilot 'Welcome' message - P3300, MDA Compact III General

As those here with O2 Orbits here may well have the CoPilot software with it, I though I might as well post this...:
I get annoyed with the loud 'Welcome to CoPilot Live' message that gets played whenever you start up the program, so here are a couple of .ogg formatted silence samples you can use to replace the welcome message.
First, go to
\Storage Card\COPILOT\SPEECH\UK English\Jane
and rename
CPWelcome.ogg
CPWelcomelive.ogg
to
CPWelcome_old.ogg
CPWelcomelive_old.ogg
Then extract the attached .zip to that directory.
That's it!

have you found any other voices for the program?

No, although I'm guessing you might be abel to adapt voices for another system to it.

Ringtone problems on O2 xda2s

Hi all. Currently running an o2 (uk) xda2s but having trouble getting it to play any other ringtone than the "windows default"??. Have browsed these forums and others and have tried various fixes etc but with no luck, have converted the tones to both wav and mp3 placed them in the rings folder but when i select apply as ringtone it errors saying the ringtone could not be applied???
have used the add ringtone option in the system folder and the tones show in the list, have ticked the boxes but they do not show in the dropdown box in the sounds and notifications options box?. Phone works fine except for this annoying problem, running the last o2 rom that was posted on the official o2 xda website
hope someone can help and sorry if its been asked before
I had the same problem
but once I upgarded to wm5 helmis latest ROM, its fine for me
so you can even upgarde, and the latest version is fast and very nice
Had just the same problem, tried placing the file all over the place, finally worked when I placed it in \windows\rings. I then went to Settings/Phone/Ring tone: and there it was and it played ... all 4.5MB with no apparent requirement to shorten file name (05-the_pogues-metropolis-jaffa.mp3).
I used to get the different problem about Cannot set MP3 as ringtone.
But after Hard Reset it work again.
May youtry to hard reset first before UP-ROM
It works on my XDAiis perfect. You have to options:
1: put your mp3 file in windows/rings
2. Keep your stylus on the mp3 song for a while and choose:set as ringtone

WM6 Voice command

Hello, on wm5 I used to be able to assign a voice command to 2 set a voice command for varios applications. For example I have media player set to start media player.
I cant seem to get this to work on wm6
Anyone else ?
Figured it out
Ok, I feel like a tard.
instead of voice command needing to be trained, it reads the program name.
Wich is kind of lame because on wm5 I would jsut say media.
and now i have to say start media player.
...
any comments on this ?
Under WM5 voice command was the same as under 6, are you sure it wasn't voice commander you were using?
With voice command you can say "play [media|album|genre|artist|anything]" if you say "media" it'll ask you for which one you want to play, for album, artist & genre it'll prompt you from the ones in your library.
Finally, you could rename the short cut to "media" and then you'll be good to go
Voice Commander?
Well, it was something default from the tmobile wm5. I could click the right soft key when an application was highlited and say add voice command.
Im curious about this voice commander though, I use the phone media player when i snowboard and that sounds like something awesome to be able to choose genre, playlist etc.
Where can i download it ?
I broke it.
I dont know why , it voice command was working fine. I changed the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway
from OEMAGW.dll to bthag.dll
and rebooted.
after doing this when i hold the home key down it brings up a recording menu to record voice notes I guess.
I changed the registry key back to OEMAGW.dll and rebooted.
The same thing happens . only opens up some record thing.
Can somone explain how to get his work again ?
Reloaded
Just said screw it after mucking with it for a few hours. Perfomed a factory reset and started over.
Wishing i had sprite or something. but its nice to have it all clean and a fresh load of apps....

??? Cant Change Ringtone ???

right i had my ringtone set as something personal that i wanted - though i cant even remember how i did that as it was an option somewhere that moved the song its self anyway for some reason i cant use my own ringtones any more - every time that i try to select one it saves but then i open it again and its selected the last ringtone there is some windowsmobile one which i dont want
is it something that i have done?
how do i fix it?
could it be an application that i have used? i added the media player "Nitrogen" could that have affected it?
the apps i have installed:
TomTom Navigator
Southampton Navigator Map
Spb Mobile Shell 3, Weather, Keyboard, time, TV
Dusk comm mgr & misc
VolDeus MS3Config
Fingerkeyboard
HDTweak
changescreen
Nigrogen
could any of these affected it?
Right it seems that Nitrogen isnt the culprit as i uninstalled it and i still cant change ringtone back to what i had it as. i am also missing the option when holding down on a music file to set that as the ringtone i have no idea what i have done but im desperate need of some help
right i might be getting a bit closer - the Touch HD seems to think that all my audio files that i have on my memory card are windows files could this have something to do with it? and i keep coming back to Nitrogen i remember during the installation that it gave me a box to tick for MP3 now, which i ticked could that have something to do with this?
Not sure what you've done to lose the option in file explorer but a workaround is to copy the song/sound you want to the 'My Ringtones' folder which is located in the 'My Documents' folder.
You should then be able to go to the sounds settings and choose your song as a ringtone.
Good luck...

nope i have tried that as well. it wont let me use it from there either - i have them there i can select them it just wont use that song when the phone rings. i just copied a song over from my computer and even that didnt work - still goes back to one from the computer - im running out of ideas maybe im going to be forced to do a hard reset as a soft reset didnt do anything
right its fixed - it took a hard reset though
it happened to me as well
open nitrogen mp3 player
click options--- then settings---- then file associations
and clear the box for use nitrogen to open mp3 files
that causes the problem, i hope it works for you too.

Slow loading of HTC Album and Notes/Voice Rec app

Has anyone had this issue:
When calling notes, or the Voice Recorder app, or opening HTC Album, they take a very long time to become ready. The Album is usable but take 30-60seconds to populate the thumbnails, and the notes app just spins the wait icon for about the same time til its usable at all. It used to work fine...
I tried removing the storage card to see if its was the issue. Notes weren't ANY different, and the few wallpapers i had in internal storage still took longer than it should to show thumbnails.
Suggestions?
Well the problem was more extensive than I thought:
Every app that loaded a file browser, ex. Word/Excel/PPT/Voice Recorder/Notes/etc took a good 30-60 seconds to load and save, and to choose a new folder to browse.
The built-in "File explorer" responded normally and quickly. I had not installed the "file dialog changer" or the file explorer extension.
Turns out, it was the "expose Network folder to other programs" option in Resco File Explorer. I use it all the time to transfer stuff to and from my other machines, so its kind of annoying that either I have the network folder, or programs are speedy and usable. Don't remember this being an issue with my Touch Pro or my 6700.
I guess it timed out trying to search the network folder for various file types every time the file browser appeared in a program.
Hope this helps someone...
Yes, definitely. This did help me and probably saved me an awful lot of time.
So thank you very much for this hint!

music players can't find music files

hi there,
There's something that's bugging me lately.
With any music player (stock, meridian, ecc) when i go to "all songs" (or i think it's called "tracks" on stock player) it only shows a half dozen files, as opposed to the 400 there should have been.
Funny thing is that when i explore with those music players inside the folders, the files are all there and magically from that point on, they appear in the "all songs" section and they play fine, but looking better, when i explore the sd card, it says "refresh to scan media" under each previously invisible file.
Every time i reboot the phone those files became invisible again and it's kinda annoying... anybody has some ideas?
Is there any difference in the music files? What format are they in? Maybe the scanner doesn't scan certain formats automatically. Just a guess though.
thank you for the answer, however, the issue disappeared. Don't know if that's what healed my phone, however i went exploring with ESfile explorer and found a rather useles file called "nomedia" with no extension and no format which appeared in the music folder. After that everything went back to normal.
I forgot to say that i recently bought a 16gg class 4 sd card and almost thought to call for a replacement... but things are working now!

.nomedia files are there to tell the default android media scanner to ignore that folder. It's used so sound and picture files from apps and games don't show up in media players. That was were your problem was
