Desire screen's resistance against scratches

Hey guys,what's up?
I had a screen protector on my Desire's screen which recently became full of scratches and had some air bubbles below it,so I decided to remove it(using the screen feels much nicer without it btw! ).But unfortunately I am not sure what our screens can take. Are they scratch resistan like the Leo's screen? If not, should I put a protector in again?
Thanks!

ive removed the screen protector two months ago and i found that i'm enjoying the desire a lot more without it
the glass itself seems resistant, i didn't have any scratches yet not even a slight one but i keep my device in a pouch so i don't know how it would stand in a rougher environment
seems better than the diamond screen which used to get damaged by finger nails
I have exactly the same doubt, I removed the screen case about two weeks ago and it feels nicer, but don't know if it will get any scratch. I also have the phone inside a TPU case, but is not that beautiful that way so I'm tempted to remove it also, but don't wana break my phone
I've had my desire for over 5 months, have never had a case or screen protector and the screen is completely unscratched. By contrast the silver buttons do have light scratching.
I keep it in my jeans pocket and try to avoid putting keys and coins in the same pocket.
I think the screen is pretty scratch resistant and after my experience with it would never consider a screen protector.
Well,I only take my phone out of its case to use it,so it is safe when in my pocket or anything like that. And it is glass, not some cheap plastic, right?Glass doesn't get scratched easily!

Exactly the same here.
However I put mine in a TPU case when at work as I'm a mobile engineer and the places I work can tend to be a bit messy. The Desire's screen is much more scratch resistant than my old Touch HD due to the screen being capacitive and made of glass rather than plastic.
As long as you don't put it in your pocket with anything else and you're not too rough when cleaning the screen you should be fine.

Nope but it still does...trust me, a friend of mine tried to experience the sense of freedom, mocking me for making mine look like a tank with tpu case and brando ultra clear...now a few days ago (2 months usage, and he's a bank clerk, not a marine) noticed that his screen is all covered in tiny micro-scratches: they don't annoy much imo, but you know...also, even almost invisible scratches could weaken the glass increasing its chance to break.
Long story short: don't listen to what the Pope says, use condoms!

Idk..i'm kinda skeptical towards those cases..i my girl bought one for her ipoo, and not too much after she had a nice big scratch right in the middle of the "omfgappleroxstevejobsisgoduberantiscratchglassverybigbigdeal". I could take a wild guess saying that having a case will mostly increase you chance of doing something bad to your phone: eg, a grain of sand in your pocket won't be likely to harm the phone in any way, but if you have a tight case and that little bad boy ends inside it might even literally CARVE the glass..you know, with a grain of sand it's like glass vs (rough) glass, aka very very bad...
Also, i can recall that almost all of the (lot of) times my old sweet Htc Cruise fell, that happened while i was trying to pull it out or putting it back inside its case
Imho tpu case (plus protective film of your choice) rules, hands down.
The desire's screen is not resistance to scratches, I had mine for 1 month had it in an case but, never placed an screen protector. I always kept it away from coins and keys, but after 1 month it developed a scratch which wasn't an regular scratch it seemed to be blurry and disorder with was super annoying. so, my point is get an screen protector before it's too late.
It's really just a question of wich screen protector you use, i've had 3 (including htc's own) and the last one (wich was sent to me for free when i complined about the htc one!!) is hand's down the best i've had. It didn't leave a single bubble, it's hard to see it's even there and it's more slippery then the screen itself so it makes the whole experience seem smoother, i'm very happy with it!!!!
PS: don't ask the make 'cause i really can't remember, but the message is; find the right screen protector=experience as good as without!!

No case, no screen protector..but

I am one of those who likes the phone as is.
Why cover/thicken it up? And gorilla glass sure as heck shouldn't need protection as it only reduces the sensitivity and usefulness - why buy a touch screen if you don't want to touch it in the first place.
BUT
2 days on the TGV's across France and Switzerland and boy was I cursing; the bloody phone slid everywhere ... so it made me think.
Got home and stuck 2 of those clear rubber/plastic kitchen cupboard door dome bumpers (Magnet for those in the UK) on the corners by the camera, and voila you have a non-slide phone and protects the lens at the same time.
Works for me, also helps the grip as your fingers go between the domes.
Each to their own. Hope its helps some.

I also hate casing, but... I hate scratches and dents more.
I've found mine is getting scratched on the 'bump' below the samsung logo. Stupid bit of design that put the most scratchable plastic on the entire phone on the only surface that touches the table.
I like mine au naturel too but it looks like we've no choice but to use a skin or case if you don't like scratches.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
That "bump" actually stops the camera lens from getting scratched when place on a flat surface.. dunno why they didnt recess the lens though... or better still stick a lens cover on it!!
Im a case fan personally, yeah I love the look of the phone, but I want it to stay that way.. so Ill wrap it up! makes for good resale value near end of contract!
I stuck a strip of clear sellotape across the hump, prevents scratches until something better pops up
The sellotape works wonders!
I don't care scratches but the reason why I use case is the camera lens because it can be easily scratched and will take worst photo
.:SiLvErHuNk:.
I have a case an cheap one i bought on eBay and it works fine but ive ordered another one and am going to buy a screen protector - SGP Ultra Oleophobic Film which appears to be the best available, when you've spent €450 on a phone the last thing you want is for it to be scratched

Holy cow. Who said Gorilla Glass won't scratch? Jeez. Of course a good screen protector is recommended and also a good case which will protect the device if it drops accidentally.
Regards.
I have got a visible scratch right between the camera lens and the flash....missed both of them...Phew!!!...
so now I have a case always fitted, SP and also a cut out SP for the lens...

Replacement For silver bezel

So I've barely had my first android phone for a week and its already slipped out of my hands and into hard concrete. The result is that I have some ugly dents on the silver ring that surrounds the phone. I have the marble white version, Any idea if I can find a replacement for it? Either I'm putting in the wrong search terms or I there are none available on the internet. I'm feeling really bad right about now
I have the same issue,, I hope someone help us :s
I cant help with the bezel but I can HIGH recommend you two buying a case since you have already dropped and dented the phone... Preferably a TPU one that will cover all edges.

pretty sure there aren't any until a Chinese knockoff reseller (cnn.cn or etc) makes one. even at that, you'd have to take apart the phone.

I bought a Case-Mate one,,
------
I found the bezel in ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-HOUSING...753897?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item20c7114f69
Not sure if I should get one
Hum, you do realize that's quite a bit of work to change that part, right ? (besides the fact that you void the warranty)
A guy made an almost complete video showing how to disassemble the device. I'm saying almost because at the end he explains the screen is heat sealed with the frame (the one you found on eBay) :
http://youtu.be/eo93EF7rVIw?t=9m27s (timing is included in the link)
You need to un-seal the two parts with heat.
So to resume, changing the bezel is as complex as changing the screen, or even more complex since you can buy screens already sealed with frames (but I suppose you don't want to pay 300$ just for bezel replacement ). Meaning this is surely the most complex piece replacement on the Galaxy S III ...

You mean the ones that dont cover the entire edges?
My point exactly. Thats why I recommend a TPU case.
Also the case will cover the dent and you dont have to worry about it anymore.
No point disassembling the entire phone and probably voiding your warranty for a dent.

Guys, Nonepse is right about how complex of a job changing the bezel (it's actually the phone's frame) is. The same guy did a video on how to take part the frame/bezel that the LCD is stuck on with adhesive. It is NOT a pretty sight.

There goes my dream of using the GS3 without a case and simply replacing the housing whenever I feel like it.
Try CNN.cn they usually have replacement parts

It is the frame, seems like alot of work, and practically impossible to swap out without replacing the screen since they are glued together . Just get a nice case, you won't see much of the damage. I got at least a nick here and there when i dropped my phone when i first got it. Now I got full case and front tempered glass screen protector that hides most if it (besides the little crack still visible, but it doesn't bother me). http://i50.tinypic.com/xpqa03.jpg
+1, a lot of effort/cost to fix it....Just put a bumper case on it at this point.

Got the same thing on my white Metro S3. Was looking into replacing the bezel/ frame until I saw that video. Just not worth it IMO.

guys the truth is that its imposible to change only the bezel of the phone. why? because its imposible to remove the LCD withou braking it. the bezel is only $30 but if you brake the LCD (AMOLED) Screen its about $300 so just use a case.
when i bought my s3 it was black, and some of my friends drop it and the screen (gorilla cracked), i decided to buy the whole front part of the phone. i decided to change the color so now my S3 is Titanium 100%.

Looking for full housing with lens/digitzer--is it expensive?

Hello.Iam hapy user og sgs2 i9100 from about week.I just replace my htc one v and pay 50 pounds and exchange to second hand sgs2.Iam happy with this phone but I want make it like new, couse there is a few small scratches on screen and on the whole case is looking like used,so I thinking about repalce all that things, screen, middle silver case and back as well. The colour of my phone is white but for me is doesnt matter,I can replace to white or black,I just want make full refreshing and also put the lcd screen protector and buy the protection case.
I asked in gsm service but they said full housing is expensive, because that lens with digitzer cost a lot of money and all that job is not worth it.Also they said all that housng on ebay are just cheap china copy and without digitzer I wiil be not able to replace the screen.
So I want ask here, where I can buy in good price full housing with screen,or mayby there is a pasta for fix that small scratches on screen so I mayby only need to buy middle silver case and back case without lens digitizer screen?
Please reply,best regards.

Screen Protectors?

So since this phone is so inexpensive, are we going to get screen protectors for it? Or just let it go? I'm probably going to get something simple, like this one, just for some basic protection. Is anyone else planning on getting any sort of protection?
Thanks in advance!
I bougth one and after 2 weeks is scratched and has a crack so you should no spend your money on this
Yeah, the tempered glass screen protector is pretty good.
i usually just let it go, feel better than cover any protectors
Hi:
I depends on how do you use you screen.
I have own a Galaxy S, SIII and now this Moto E 2015 , and never ever used a screen protector. No scratches on screen. Nevertheless I know some people using the phone as a kitchen cutting table and have the same results (as the kitchen table).
Gorilla glass is pretty hard though.
I actually have screen protectors on my devices just so because it feels good to know there's an added protection. You may want to check this one.
The Tempered film is a better choice.
Where i live in Canada i could not find one in store.
I was able to see a couple cases but they were super cheaply made and super expensive (in my Mall)
So i didn't buy a case.. i also didn't want a bulky case because i lucked out and found a sweet belt clip case at Wallmart.
The case from Wallmart fits my dimensions perfectly for the phone and has my phone attached to my belt now
I like using my phone to listen to music while i ride my mountain bike.
So what i ended up doing is getting an iPhone 6 protective film for $2 and i just trimmed the top off and laid it on top my phone.
i have 95% of it covered and it looks ok.. i had done a better job but i tried to make it perfect and screwed it up.
Pro Tip: Don't be a perfectionist when making your own cut and paste protective film LOL
Also..
I could have gotten a protective film from a kiosk in my local Mall that is suppose to be strong etc.
The kiosk custom cuts the protective material for any device from watches to phones, so i *could have done that.
But, they wanted about $35 can. after taxes for my cheap phone so i said no thanks.
I do want to ask any of you out there a question (i am fairly new to android phones only had a S3 for a few months before)
What i want to know is are the Gorilla glass screen good enough that i can just ditch the plastic film stuff ?
Like i have seen some guys say online that they don't bother putting a protective skin on the phone.
So what do you guys think ? Maybe i should ditch the protective plastic stuff on my phone ?

gorilla glass is preatty hard, it can survive some hard things like keys or somethig made of metal but there are things that can easy scrach it - for example sand (because it's harder than glass). I can't recommend plastic screen protectors, they do the job but they are real fingerprints magnets. It's impossible to keep it clean. I think you should buy glass protector, you can find cheap ones on some chineese sites with free shipping (it takes like month but I think it's worth)
Today I got my 3$ tempered screen protector form Chinese auction site. The shipping was free, it should take more than 30 days according to info on the site but I've waited only 12 days. IMO the glass quality is very good but it's my first tempered glass protector. Instalation process was easy (even without instruction on the box but there is a lot of videos on YouTube about instalation) though I have small air bubble around proximity sensor. It's my first glass so maybe I've done something wrong. Anyway I'm very happy, I had plastic foil before and it's like day and night. The fell of the glass under the finger is great. IMO this 3$ glass is a great deal.
I bought my one here http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2-5D..._77_91_80,searchweb201644_5,searchweb201560_9
Edit
Today that bubble dissapered for itself, now it sticks perfectly. For 3$ I'm more than happy.
Just go get one from XtremeGuard and use a coupon to bring the price down to like $2.
tyvm got all the info i need here

Ahhh I see, well you could get a case that covers the screen, that way it doesn't get grainy or scratched. Regardless of the screen or screen protector, I think it's not recommended to place your phone on the same pocket you have your keys in, or other metal things.

I think about those two metal spots around pocket in most of jeans' pockets. I just want to say that it won't suit for every people, I used something like that and I was really mad about how it made my screen grainy and how soft it was although it performed preatty good in sunlight and fingerprints wasn't so visible. Then I had non matte one, screen looked better but it was real fingerprints magnet. It was harder but still It got scratched after some time. Now I have glass and for me it's the best choice. It's very transparent, very hard and it's not so bad with fingerprints but it's thick so it can colide with some cases (not an issue for me). That's just my opinion about thoose protectors.

Well I bought mine for 2$ on chinese site (aliexpress). It's cheap, preatty easy to install, very scratch resistant and very clear, screen looks bright and it feels great under the finger. The downsides are that it's thick so it won't work well with every case, I use it with orginal grip shell and it's good combo because of the case design: http://forum.android.com.pl/uploads/monthly_12_2015/post-142525-0-25574200-1451048167.jpg The second problem is that the oleophobic coating wears off but after 2-3 months it's still not so bad (but it was better when it was new).
