backup: sleuths first derivative over v3G's ? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

hi all
please, a quick backup question as I am a still ma bit confused ....
with sbp, the builds have to be the same to transfer data via card backups right?
I FOR EXAMPLE HAVE V3g's variation and want to contrast it with sleuth's very fast first derivative.... can I hard reset and superimpose that backup?
Thanks for any replys and all patiencet

it should work, as the ROM base is the same. Why not try it and let us know?

It will work, however it will also restore any registry tweaks cooked into the source ROM.

yes, it does seem to work fine.......and I must say Sleuths 1st derivative just zips..faster than any of em for me.

Energy ROM bad flash?

I have flashed a few different roms in the past day onto my Diamond.
Iv been getting not so frequent but annoying little quirks and problems.
At some point the phone slows down like hell with all apps closed and cleanRAM already used. Other times my touch screen will go completely untouchable and wont respond but the buttons still work fine. Its also completely freezed up once or twice.
I'm thinking of doing the MTTY method, But I wanted to ask if it could possibly just be the ROM with a few glitches and bugs? It's nothing serious I can live with it, Just a bit annoying.
Nothing to do with the flashing!
If you read the Energy ROM thread you will notice that it uses tremendous amount of RAM at boot (~85%) - std version. This doesn't give you lots of room for many other applications.
This ROM was intended for the Touch HD version witch has more RAM than Diamond if I'm not mistaking...
Try the Titanium version or the OldManilla version for a better RAM consumption! You can also try some tweaks that will lower your Memory usage down to approximately 65% witch is good!
Another good practice is to hard-reset your device after flashing a new ROM this will resolve some mystery problems

Hope this will help,
Good luck!
my first rom was also the energyrom. its a pretty one, but speed and memory usage is very bad.
now i flashed the deepshining rom, and i love it. memory usage is well, speed is well... and with some nice add ons by xkaiser it also looks good, too. i think i'm gonna use this rom by now. i suggest you give deepshining a try.
Hi,
Energy roms usually use more ram than other 6.5 ROMs, but freeze isn't rom fault specially if you used cooked roms multiple times. if you check other WM6.5 Threads (BsB, Deepshining or ...) you'll see at some point there are always people experiencing freeze , hard-resets and ... It's specially with WM6.5 New Builds.
For Solving that you have two ways : MTTY or Flashing a Stock ROM first.
Good Luck!

So it really does matter, if you first flash a stock ROM or not? I don't see why this should make any difference!? Perhaps you can tell me why.
BTW: I am not new to xda-developers, but this is kind of my first post... yeah!
AND: I am not new to the topic of flashing, i've done it (more or less successfully) a few times before and I am currently trying to cook my very first own ROM on base of 6.5.1 (perhaps 23047? ;-) ) with nice tools (but not too much), nice graphics, some tweaks and an eye on the memory and battery consumption. Just an ordinary kitchen user. ;-) So this topic is quite interesting for me.
Thanks for an reply.

Hi,
It does matter, but i can't say anything moe! simply i don't why, but i experience this myself with BsB and Deepshining ROMs. if we assume that it works like MTTY, seems that it format or recover something to their original State. (MTTY is a complete format, i think.)
Thanks guys downloading deepshining now. Hope its good
Yea the thing I don't like about energy ROM is its kinda slow and a resource hog. But it looks so nice lol
Thanks for the help guys appreciate it a lot

Updating Nataly ROM

Hi there, I am after some advice, im currently running Gen.Y R2 D2 but am looking to move back to a more practical ROM rather than a graphically superior ROM.
Im going to miss a few of the features and wondered what will work with this ROM as being older (unsure of build as not stated and not currently running to check if 21xxx+).
1) The HTC notification enhancement (if would work, which files would be needed - cab file available?)
2) Most up-to-date working Youtube app (bearing in mind ROM build)
3) Most up-to-date camera & album builds (bearing in mind ROM build)
Many thanks for any advice given

Hmm I may look at that but im not someone who has time to flash frequently so I have to do so carefully and do my research. Ive used Nataly before and was very impressed, even after all this time, its still benchmarked as the fastest ROM for day to day life. RAM and program memory is outstanding.
My issue with trying the Dia Duit ROM is that although based on the Nataly ROM there is no documentation of changes or new RAM % etc....
I know its updated to TF3d2 but im moving back to Nataly to get away from this as although its nice graphically is to thirsty for my little diamond lol
If I was going to stay with TF3d2 I would stay with Gen.Y as this is by far the fastest and most stable rom available so far IMO.
This is why I thought if I could just add the few things I wanted to take to Nataly ROM then I know thats all Ive added.
Thanks for your swift reply
Why don't you try this?

As well, there's kitchen with many extra options and new drivers - only problem that it is in russian, but you can always download the kitchen and swap the drivers around. I did it, and it improved memory a bit, as well as overall feeling

kitchen itself

you might consider BSB 6.5 L, once again version L, as i have tried all the others and this one is by far the best, Ram on startup 42%, seldomly goes over 50%, very fast, very stable, and with m.carroll pure2 black vga u get the most exquisite graphical appearence in tone with the diamond, youtube working, camera working, bt and sms thread not working on default install but fixes provided, radio 1.15 recommended

This IS the answer but if you study my first post I was asking what files need to be cooked in for notification enhancement etc....
But people keep suggesting ROMS lol
Im trying to find BSB 6.5L but can only find BSB 6.5R and 6.5.1A at the moment, doubt i'll go for this as Ive tried 6.5 before and the honeycomb menu is horrible, its just to messy!!
Thanks for all of your suggestions though
Actually, above are links for kitchens, so there you go.
BTW - you can download kitchen for diadiut too.... Try some cooking, it's fun

Thanks again, maybe im making hard work of this lol
Im happy to try cooking but im after the files to include in a package. I cant just download a kitchen as the packages are broken up into all different directories so trying to figure out what belongs to what is almost impossible.
I was just hoping someone could indicate what files would need to be in a kitchen to enable the new notification enhancement for example.
Nevermind ill probably just stick to Nataly. Its simple but powerful, and more importantly - I know whats in it....
Thanks anyway
bsb 6.5L:

under older releases, currently only kaiserrom link working:
http://customroms.com/BsB65L.zip
honeycomb? don't think it is used anymore in this version, but i might be wrong.
if u would like to try it and need the Jocani folder sorting (in English) pm me and i can send it to u per email (the cab i downloaded seems to install it only in Spanish so I had to modify it).
it is an excellent rom for daily usage, gps working wonderfully (igo and miomap)... hope i been able to help u a bit

Information overload :(

Ok, i must say you guys really have a great community here! It's booming with thread, updates, tweaks, fixes etc. for everything. I've browsed the forums, searched it and i always find several thread concerning the topic i need.
My problem though, is that i can't seem to put all the information i get together! I have been flashing my Diamond a couple times and fallen in love with WM6.5. Currently i have a small rom that i fight with when it comes to sms'ing and dialing/useing the phone. That's a big problem for me.
What i need is a advice really. I need a ROM on my phone that satisfies the following points (in prioritized order):
1. Phone working with number(only) keyboard when i enter a number (this is only a problem with my current rom l3v5y , 25. december). Also when i call one of them "press 1 for bla, 2 for blabla" i need to be able to enter keys, which i can't atm)
2. Texting (email, sms) working with a nice keyboard (ezinput) - not working atm.
3. Danish T9 (i'm really having problems getting this to work => i'm stuck with english dictionary atm)
4. Fast (i'd much rather have fast than fancy!) I don't need touchflo to slow me down.
5. Small (i like to have a lot of free memory) - i really don't need touchflo to hog it all
6. WM 6.5 is nice - it replaces touchflo for me (mostly because of leaving more ram)
I currently have a WM 6.5 version that has the start button and other small icons on the bottom - is that the 6.5.x versions? It seems nice, but definately not a must.
Please, do you have any input? I don't mind doing some work, but i'll probably mess it up if it's too complicated
Revolution
Ok i think i settled for Revolution Titanium
I still need to have T9 with danish working and i'm still a bit confused about changing radio, misc fixes/tweaks etc. It's a jungle!

LOL, that's how I felt when I got starting but the trick is...don't do anything until you have read for days.
You are past a decent hump at your stage but you still have ways to go. Reading all the stickies is step 1.
Flashing a Radio: Same as flashing a ROM. Just put the both files in the same folder and start the process by going to the RUU_exe. file.
There is also an internal method but I don't want to overwhelm you at this point.

With the Radios, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, try them all out for a day or week at a time to see which gives you the best battery consumption to performance ratio.
As for the HARD SPL, definitely upgrade. Everyone should have Hard SPL 1.93 (located in my signature). The problem is that 1.40 is write protected and upgrading won't be easy. Try first on your own to see if a simple upgrade will work. If it doesn't work, jot down the error number and get back to me.
Enjoy..
Thanks for the input I can't seem to figure out if a ROM can contain a radio as well? It seems i have the v1.09.25.23 radio and i'm not sure if the titanium ROM installed that - or perhaps a previous ROM that was prepacked with an installer (ack, i know...) - or if it's default from the factory?
Anyways WiFi doesn't seem to work anymore, could that be because of the radio change or the titanium or perhaps my hardware suddenly faulting? I haven't been using wifi untill now for the last two ROM tryouts - i only need it now for connecting to the local (home)network...

When downloading a chefs rom, they most like give you the ROM only. Titanium is basically the default interface and is always included as it's part of microsofts interface but most chefs shut it off and use manila (either 2.1 or 2.5 versions).
It's possible that something is interferring with the wifi and it's possible that it could be hardware related but the only way to really find out is to flash another rom to rule out the Rom Variable or perhaps it's a app that you installed. Play around with it.
Ah yeah i ment revolution - i'm using the titanium version (not using manila) - i'll probably try and flash to the recommended radio (the one recommended in the revolution thread).
Thanks again for the feedback

backing up current rom and couple other noob questions...

alright guys and girls... i just got the touch pro 2 yesterday. its on WM6.1 and i like it, but thinking to upgrade to a cooked rom.
I would like to back-up my current rom for just in case. plus i like my settings right now becuase i get full 3g with my tzones package .... how can i go about backing up my current rom?
also in yalls personal experience whats the best cooked rom out there?
also could i get weather to show on my today screen with my current WM6.1 running touchflo 3d 2.1?
any other cool stuff/tips/tricks for this phone i should know about?
thanks in advance!
p.s. anyone in houston/texas, what radio version are you using with tmobile for best service/battery life? i only get about 1/2 bars of 3g service in my apt..

I would use SPB Backup. It will backup all your contacts, settings, programs, etc... It even will allow you to restore all this when you upgrade to different roms. There is a setting for Rom upgrade mode.

Can't really say there is one rom that is better than the rest. You are just going to have to see which is best for you. Personally, I've tried Energy rom, Valkyrie, Josh's perfect black, athine, itje's, and a few others, but they all had there ups and downs. sense 2.1 is the fastest out there though, and the most stable. The 2.5 is pretty cool, but too slow for my taste.

thank you! anything like SPB that is free thou? does SPB make a rom file so i can just flash my phone with it incase i want to go back?
I've had my eye on the
|R|6.5.3|ROM|WWE| ★ EnergyROM "Phoenix 2" 23518/21889 ★Jan 16★ Sense 2.1/Titanium ★
and thinking ill probably try it out soon....
what does the WWE stand for?
World Wide English.
SPB backups will not back up your rom per se I dont think. They will back up all the stuff that you put on your rom since you got the phone though.
There is a way to back up the stock rom but it involves some specialized tools that are available in the rom section. To restore your phone to what it is today after installing a cooked rom you would have to flash back the factory rom then restore your backup from SPB or sprite.
^^^ Thanks!!!
Downloading EnergyROM "Phoenix 2" right now...
gonna do some researching in the rom section to try and find away to backup my full rom. because i really love the fact of having full 3g internet with only my tzones package... hopefully someone can chime in about backing up my rom.

SPB Backup will only backup your programs, data, music, etc, but NOT the rom itself. Really, all you need to do is backup your data, and that way, you can just reload the default rom if you need to, then restore your data after that.
SPB is not free though....Microsoft has a free program that also works well called myphone.
Oh, and btw, I just flashed that same Rom (EnergyROM Phoenix 2) and lovin it.
Backup of Rom...
Did a little searching, and did come across this. I personally haven't tried it, but it sounds like it should work.
Check this out...

Thanks for that info... that is only for the HTC Magician. but maybe it'll work for the touch pro 2...
i'm at school so i cant flash the energyrom phoenix right now, but will flash it when i go home.
