Hi,
This message keeps appearing on the screen of my Orbit, it tends to appear after you press the stand-by botton on the side of the phone when the screen lights up.
How would I go about removing it??
Many thanks
Rob.
I get this too.
I think it may have something to do with activestink.
Did you create a new server connection so you could change the scheduling ?
Ever since i did that i get this annoying window.
I'm probably completely wrong.
Hi Rich,
This may be of help to you..........I can't find this on my Orbit!!!

Hi Rob
Go to Settings/Wi-Fi/ then click on the Network Adapters tab at the bottom and it's in there.
Remote NDIS is there.

Hi
on my new Orange SPV m2000, i configured the keylock to lock everything but the power on/off switch. But.. when i receive an SMS, an eMail or when Pocket outlook wants to connect to the GPRS network (and wants to show me the little bubble saying that i'ts about to do so) then the keylock is being turend off (=the SPV is being turned on) and i can use all the keys and the touchscreen.
since i often receive SMS when my phone is min my pocket, i don't really like this kind of behaviour..
doesn't anyone have this problem too? to me it seems like a basic windows mobile problem the way things are being made... or is it just a configuration fault of mine?
any help is appreciated...
cheers
pascal
Same prob with XDAII
Don't want to hijack your thread... but i'm having the same problem with SMS.
But also, every time i receive a phonecall, the phone unlocks, and does not lock itself again. So if i have the phone on silent, it unlocks in my pocket, and then my phone starts calling people by mistake until i lock it again.
I enabled the lock all buttons except power button option but this doesn't work. The only additional software i have running on the phone is TomTom2 and Towa's patch if that makes any difference. ROM ver 1.60.50.
Any solutions? I may otherwise have to get rid of my trusty XDAII otherwise
Thanks!
Sorry, I dont have a solution, but my phone does the same.
Its as if the phones were designed on a desk, and no one bothered to try them in the real world.
Ashby
Hmm... I don't have this problem on my XDAII and I don't think I ever had it. What ROMs are you XDAII peeps using? Standard UK O2 ROMs like me? (I'm up to 1.72 now.)
Wonder why my XDAII wouldn't have this problem but others might, unless it's a ROM problem.
This is a known problem with the Blue Angel, but not with the XDAII that I've heard of.
hi
i think there is alternative way to minimize problem. you can set your password for your phone, then when there is incoming call or message, even though it will unlock all button, but before you use it, the unit will ask you password. so at least you will not miss call anyone anymore.
I'm having the same problem with my Pda2k.
I've disabled all but the power button. And I do have a password on the device.
I've had the following scenarios happen;
Scenario 1:
Every time I receive an SMS, the device powers up, waits for the password - If I don't hear it it then proceeds to stay on and drain the battery.
It just doesn't seem to go back to sleep.
BTW - the unit gets very warm...
Scenario 2:
Even when I do hear it, I often find that the unit is frozen - ie I try to type in the password, the asterisks show on screen but it seems nowhere after that. I'm running Pocket Plus, which has had problems with HTC devices - but I'm not running the today plugin at the moment.
Soft Reset is the only option.
Tom
Yes, i think we are all in the same boat here. The problem is that the device wasnt designed to be in your pocket (I know.. I know.. Pocket PC). Problem being, on recieving sms/mms/call the gsm part of the device sends the wake siganl to the O/S, causing the device to power on.
The simple solution as mentioned above is to lock the keys (password) but again as mentioned this can cause alot of power loss because the device will not sleep if your leg keeps trying to enter the password (in your pocket). I'm guessing that why so many people tend to use the belt clips with these devices. :?
I'm sure it will be in the next feature request so that only the LED indicator will change and flash if chosen but until then we all have to look like geeks with belt clips.
If anyone knows of a registry hack or app that can stop the wake signal form annoying us all the please post.
Workaround
Hi there,
Same problem on my 9090. But I had this on my former crappy iPAQ 6340 too.
Here's a workaround which works for me:
Go to "Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications"
then select tab "Notifications"
in the "Event"-dropdown select "Messaging: New text message" and uncheck "Display message on screen". Uncheck for "Phone: Voice mail" and "Phone: Missed call" too.
BTW: The warming device is just a feature: you don't have to buy a pocket hand warmer in winter!
Greetz,
Bofo
Or use a 3rd party software like the ones described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15573
Hello,
I have a problem with my Hermes. Always, after I turn on my PDA, it go direct to "Today" screen. That means that if I have one program open, I turn off PDA, and then turn on again, instead of have this program open, I get "Today", and I need to use a "task manager" or similar for change to the original program .
Anybody can help me?
Thanks!
Sesaru
UPDATE: From samw52000:
This is a retarded WM6 feature that is enabled as soon as you have a password set for the device.
Remove the password, apps will stay open when the device is powered back on.
Is there any way to fix it without removing the password? I need the password!
Sesaru,
Can you explain a bit more what you mean? When you switch on the Hermes it does go to the today screen after the boot screens as its default behaviour. Not sure what you believe the problem is.
WB
You need the software X-Button
It adds a little icon on top-left corner of your screen.
When you click on it, it shows all the programs that are running, you can click on whichever one you want to bring it back up to your front screen.
It is similar to ALT-TAB on a PC.
I had nothing but poor performance out of X-button.
handy switcher is a better app and much cleaner way of doing it.

Hello;
I'll try again (I made the post at 3AM).
The problem is: I'm using the PDA in anyway (File Explorer, Office, etc); imagine that I'm using Pocket Word. Then, I wait sometime without touching any button or I push on/off button --> the PDA turn off (normal )
After that, I press on/off button (and then, the PDA turn on). The normal behaviour (I think) is to have open in my screen the last application I was using (Pocket Word), so then I can continue working directly... but the PDA always change to "Today" screen. So I have to use X-Button (or similar) to switch to the app I was using. And that is quite annoying ...
I hope I could explain better myself.
Thanks!
Go to SETTINGS, then TODAY. Click on the ITEMS tab at the bottom.
Is "Today timeout:" checked? What does it have in the drop down box?

Remove the password, apps will stay open when the device is powered back on.
If not then you're SOL (just like me).
i don´t know why, but i always have my desktop when i turn on my pc
that´s sounds really bad or not?

Ummm, careful Kc SN ... I see you haven't posted much, but you should get into the habit of reading the entire thread before you start to type. Otherwise, the foot can easily wind up in the mouth, as is evidenced here.

Hello, everyone;
I've got a TP2 on WinMo 6.5 Pro, and would like to modify it a wee bit to do the following.
First, the signal lost, call dropped window that pops up. I'm an over the road truck driver, and this happens alot in the mountains. Is there any way to disable this silly message?
Second, the backlight always comes on whenever it looses/regains a signal. This is an extreme annoyance, bordering on dangerous, situation when driving at night and I am constantly distracted by the sudden glow from the screen. Can this be disabled?
Finally, emails. Is there a setting that will force the entire email to download, doing away with the tap-here-to-download-entire-message thing?
Much appreciated, everyone, and best wishes for a great day!
Fred
Not sure on 1 or 2, sorry. For 3:
-Launch the inbox (Microsoft version, not Sense). Scroll to Email tab and tap Inbox
-Menu --> Tools --> Options
-Tap on the account
-Tap on "Download Size Settings"
-Message download limit dropdown --> Entire Message
-Download Attachments dropdown --> All attachments
Edit: Not really a solution for the second issue, but if you turn on the "Automatically adjust backlight" feature it won't be quite so bright when it does turn on. Start --> Settings --> System --> Power. Check "Automatically adjust backlight".
Perfect! Issue 3 solved. Thanks, bud.
Anyone for the other two?
entire message
From the inbox of an email account - tap the soft button to the right of the keyboard one (menu?). tap on tools then options - tap on the account you wish to modify. You should see an option for Download Size Settings - select "entire message from the bottom drop down menu then click done.
If you are going through an Exchange Server then run the Activesync app on the phone. Click menu then options. Hightlight "email" then tap on settings. Change the download size limit to "entire message" and ok your way out.
I can't help with the other issues as I am new to this phone too.
Ok. Someone beat me to it.
No worries, mate, thanks for chiming in. You did illuminate another method, and thankfully you two have solved one annoying issue. The others will require entering the registery, I'm sure.
Thanks!

On the Email Issue, go to the inbox, tap and hold to bring up the context menu, select Tools / Options, and you can modify the download settings.
settings\sounds and notifications\ notifications tab... in there you can change what different 'events' do.
If there is a setting in your phone for what you want it will be in there.. if not It's likely a registry change you need to do. That I cant help you with as I wouldn't know what you need to change specifically.
Hi guys
I have a stock DHD, which ran well, till I did an OTA upgrade.
Android 2.3.5
Sense 3.0
Software 3.13.161.3
Now there is this irritating navigation/location app that keeps on popping up.
I disagreed with the license, still it popped up.
I purchased the license key to see if it will stop, and it don't.
But the thing is, it is not the standard nav or location of the phone. it is something else, which I don't know, and I can't find it on my menu. I have to wait for it to pop up before I can access it.
The map on it is route66.
When I tap my phone button, there is a button for this app on the right side where the people button should be. But the weird thing is, it is not always there. When this app is active, the phone goes to speakerphone by default when making/receiving calls.
I am close to putting my DHD into a drum of acid and enjoy it melting away for good.
Anyone got any ideas what this is?
PS. I did a reset (phone off, volume down hold, press power......)
Spoke to the HTC call centre
Nothing.....
Pls help
O.k.
It is premium navigation. I can access it from within locations.
Anyone knows how to stop this from just spantaneously opening?

Only simple solution i can think of at the moment is blocking the process. Maybe an app on the market?
I tried app killers, disabled all location stuff, nothing works.
Guess I'll take the phone in to the agents to have it flashed back to the previous software, if I don't smash the thing against a wall first.
O.k. So the app that keeps on popping up, is the "car panel"
Any idea how I can stip it from popping up all over the show?
Open car panel from settings.. Now press menu to enter car panel settings.. There will be an option that says auto start car panel (or something like this) uncheck that option and you are done..
I had the same problem but that was before update.. After update to sense 3 I can't even find the car panel app in my sttings (the one with steering wheel icon)
So can't tell you exactly how it's done.. But going into car panel settings you would find the option.. Simply uncheck it.. If it still appears or you can't find the option simply uncheck autorotate in display settings...

Hi, I am new to Android, this is my first phone.
Whenever I click the start button I always get a message 'Self care settings, self care settings is running in the background'
I cant find any information on Self care. It does give me the option to turn it on and off but this has no impact on the message on home screen.
Can anyone tell me what it is and how to stop the message appearing?
Cheers
Doug
