I know this topic has be address many many times and there are still no soluation to the problem.
So.. I want to make a poll to see how many user is experiencing this problem.
I hope to grather enough data to see if it is a hardware problem or Firmware problem so that i can address to O2 regarding this issue.
I love my PDA/phone.. but... this issuse really bugs me cos i used the phone for business and it always happens when a important call arrived...
Pls, Lets Vote with your honest answer...
Derek
No problems here....
What i've experienced is that sometimes the ringing sound is very quite even though the volume is at maximum. I make a soft reset and everything's back to normal.
NO SOUND
I have also experienced the same. I normally have to do a soft reset to fix the problem. Seems its a firmware issue to me.
One more issue is that we need to disable the power off system setting after 3minutes.
If not, a phone call will be automatically ended after 3 minutes talking.
i have also experienced this problem. i had a important caller call me twice and i didnt hear my phone ring. it was also next to me. luckily, i had my backup phone with me when he tried that line.
agreed that we shouldnt have to soft reset to get back the ring tone functionality. i personally think its a caller id version problem, but thats my opinion cause its easier to fix. i just hope it isnt a firmware problem since i wont hold my breathe on O2 releasing a rom upgrade in my phone version.
im going to try some reg tweaks to see if it will help, once my main pc is up and running (currently moving). i just dont want to go back to an older rom because of a ringing problem. but it IS a big problem for most of us.
ps. sorry about the spelling mistakes and punctuations. im on my pda at a coffee shop.
Yup I have see the no sould on outgoing, no sound on incoming, reset does the trick for me. Also feel that the sound is low in general (even if set to max)
Ha.. i call XDA today in their headoffice in Singapore. The CS guy told me.. they know this issue and say there will be a new (Rom) or patch release very soon.
After seeing the vote result. I believe that the issue is do to software, not hardware.
I have a firend that design such product. he told me that it could be that DSP script is not written well. He said, the Echo Cancelling must be overflow causing the unit to manufunction. and after reset, the overflow will be clear out, so the unit function again.
I hope O2 is really releasing a new patch to fix this issue. If not, i think i am force to go back to my Sony Ericsson P910i or one PDA and one phone option.
i'm glad that O2 recognises the problem and not passing it on to other people. thanks for the information rcbear. glad you took the extra steps get them looking this way.
i hope "soon" means in a waek or two.
same problem
My ringer always works but sometimes, at least every other day. When someone calls me i can not hear them, they can sort of hear me, but the earpiece is dead. A soft reset fix's this problem. Is my issue related to the current issue dicussed in this thread? Thanks
Jeff
I have the problem
But I get it seldom and sporadically.

Hi Jeffro01..
Welcome to the club..
Derek
I don't seem to have the ring volume problem, but my phone will get into a state where it rings, I answer the phone, but there is no audio. In the six or so times it's happened, I haven't really determined if the caller can hear me. A reboot fixes it.
I can't pin down any one thing I do to cause it to get into this state, but it seems like a software/firmware issue.
I have this problem too.
I had to send my BT headset for repair for two weeks and noticed it did not happen during that time while it started again since I got my BT back.
When it happens (once to twice a week) I soft reset my SPVM2000 and it then is ok.
Also the BT Orange Switzerland patch makes the problem appear less often.
Phone ring problem got me twice today...
Both times, never heard three calls, but the phone still reports them as being missed.
Gotta be a solution for this or I'll be soft resetting every time I finish a call/use.

If so I have 2 questions for everyone who has this issue:
1, Do you use a bluetooth headset or any other bluetooth device (gps...)?
2, What is your current bluetooth version and build?
I have Bluetooth build 3900, and I'm using 1.33.
No probleme here
not using BT or WiFi.
Where can I find my BT version?
I don't also have the 3 minutes switch off pb, the PDA function switch off after 3 minutes but the phone remains operational. I often switch the PDA off myself whilst on the phone to save on batteries.
...Hi everyone! (1st post!)...
I get the dead-speaker in calls too...
I took delivery of my first SPV M2000 a couple of weeks ago; it had a few problems, one of which was that the speaker would be dead occassionally when making or answering calls requiring a soft-reset to resolve. I initially thought this might be caused by the device not correctly recognising external hardware had become disconnected - handsfree/BT/car-cradle etc. - but it did seem to be at random.
Orange replaced the device last week; and by day 3 without using any handsfree/cradles etc. and BT and WiFi not even enabled (much less paired/connected); the dead-speaker problem reappeared.
I'm not going to bother chasing Orange about this issue on its own (this device doesn't exhibit any of the other problems I had with my first); as it seems to be a pretty common problem that's going to require a software update to fix. Needless to say when I read that HTC have written a fix I will be on Orange's back to make a fix for their ROMs public. (dreaming?).
Just FYI, both the initial device I was supplied and the replacement have the same software versions (in my sig).
Regards,
Rob.
I circumvented (temporally fixed) the ringtone problem by setting the default ringtone to "None", and also set the phone to vibrate. Then Re-enabled MS Voice Command to announce all incoming calls. The only problem is, the voice isn't loud enough in noisy places, but it does the job in the office or semi noisy environment. I guess this will have to do until a verified fix comes along our way.
I upgraded to the new Orange ROM on my SPV M5000 (although with the radio 1.09) and even though I've now gone back (icons and taskbar were all messed up in VGA) to the Qtek (42.42.P8 1.13.64WWE this time with radio 1.09) the clock keeps reseting to midnight 1st august 2005 after every reset (eg a backup)
Very annoying. I've tried going back to radio 1.06 which I had before all this started. Anyone any idea what I can do about this? Where to start?
In fact it's not just the clock. Sound is dead too. I don't get anything from either the speakers or the headphone socket.
I've now tried complete original sets of roms ie the orginal Qtek and although the update progresses normally the clock consistently resets to 1st August, and I don't get any sound
Time to contact orange?
So the following isn't working:
On board sound (through speakers or wired headset)
Clock (ie everytime a reset occurs it goes back to Aug 2005)
Cameras
But the following are all working fine.
GPRS
3G
WiFi
Bluetooth (I even get sound through my bluetooth headset!)
I've flashed a few different roms and radio sets but what is/isn't working remains the same. Is there something about this spread of working/not working which can help narrow down the problem?
Someone please post something!
sorry mate, cant help, i dont have that problem.
personally, i would have done without the vga and stayed with the newer update.
just thought i would let you know people are reading, but if doesnt look like many if any are having this problem.
oh well, its now popped back up the list for you...
Sorry I should have been clearer. All this started when I put the new orange rom on my SPV M5000.
The clock has been bust since then, and even going back to the qtek rom I used to use hasn't fixed the problems.
Think I'll have a look at running linux on it (may help with diagnostics) if not I'll stick to the new orange rom and contact orange for support.
Broken Clock - Fixed
Just incase anyone is curious (ever has the same problem) this was "fixed" when I accidentally dropped my device again! Yes the answer is that this had nothing to do with Rom updates. There must just be a loose connection somewhere and a bit of a jolt has sorted it out!
Phew...but a big worrying that something is loose somewhere.
Hi,
I have a 8525 with WM6 and Radio 1.54.07.00. Every time I received a call it gets drop when I press the answer bottom. This happen 9 out of 10 calls. I have to call back to the number in the call history.
Any sugestion?
Do you want to tell us a bit more? Are you running the original radio rom that came with the phone or a version you installed yourself?
If the latter I would consider doing the following:
- Go with another radio rom, in case there are compatibility issues with this one.
- Might be a hardware problem so I would install the S2U2 utility by A_C (search on here to find it), set the options so that you can answer or drop calls on the touchscreen and see what happens. If the device allows you to answer calls via S2U2 and the touchscreen then you may have a hardware problem.
Let us know how you get on.
WB
I have an 8525 with radio 1.54 jsut like yours and periodically I have the same problem...not 9 out of 10 times more like 1 out of 20...It usually happens when my phones been on for a while and memory is limited etc. I usually soft reset and its good
how long have you had your phone? if its old then maybe your button is broke????
Phone is practically new, only 6 months
I downloaded the WM6 from the HTC website and installed as is.

somethimes, so notr always, when i get a call, the pfone dusn't ring but vibrates and freezes at that moment. it keeps vibrating until the battery is flat. the only way to get it back online is to soft reset it.
anyone the same problem? any sollution?
thx
dave
It could be a hardware fault, in which case there is not much you can do, except try a different battery (the battery is a common cause of crashes).
Or it could be your notification queue which has become overcrowded. You can either fix this by doing a hard reset, which will lose all your data, or you can try reading the following post which teaches you how to spring-clean it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333521
1.15.00 is the best radio ever....check your system hardware...
i have the same problem.
i had radio 1.09. or something installed when i had this problem the first time (this morning).
i flashed 1.15 radio rom and hard resetted, but it didn't help.
the poblem only occurs when my universal is not connected with a computer/ battery charger. i hope a new battery will solve that problem. (i have my universal for nearly 2 years now and never had a problem like this)
Try radio 1.18
I move to 1.18 from 1.17 and after a month I can say it has better reception and it´s working fine for me
Cheers
1.15.00 is the best for me, no problems, works perfect (with 1.18.00 the uni freezes and crashes all the time).
But, it depends on different devices and operators
i got my new battery yesterday, but my uni still freezed on incoming calls.
i deactivated the 'htc home' and the 'wireless' today plugin, and now it seems to work (i had some incoming calls but it never crashed).
hope that helps.
edit: apparently it doesn't. my pda still crashes on incoming calls.
maybe there's some problem waking up from standby mode?
edit2: the problem occurs only when the pda is in standby. the last 2 days i had standby deactivated, and it never crashed. the only problem is the power consumption.
edit3: this seems to be a wm6-only problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397973)
Dear TP2 users,
During a call which is longer than 10 minutes, my partner suddenly can't hear me anymore because of a drastic falling volume (described by the partner as i would move away from the phone). After 5 to 10 seconds the volume ist back and i can be heared again. After 10 - 20 minutes it starts again. I suppose that it's a hardwareproblem: I recently flashed a custom ROM but the problem didn't dissappear. Does anyone know that problem? Please notice: The problem occurs during every phonecall and with good reception, so it isn't a reception problem.
My phone:
Radio: 4.49.25.17
ROM: ES+L Rhodium Rom GER
Manila Vers: 2.5.20121225.2
OS: 5.2.21905
Greetings from switzerland
no one has any idea how to resolve this issue?
Perhaps make sure Auto Volume Control is disabled in settings?
it was disabled for all the time...
