I'm just curious but what is this for?
*#*#364#*#*
You have to do this on the dialpad.
Are things like that to set up operator setting, things such as how many rings before your answering service picks up?
I did a search on the internet and found The HTC Wizard Handbook and it explained how to get the engineer mode working although I had to install fieldtest.exe to get it working.
Engineer mode in AKU2 ROM
It was already noticed that the HTC Wizard has registry settings reffering to an engineer mode, but in previous ROM versions it did not seem to work. In the new AKU2 ROMs however, it does. You can enable engineer mode as follows: [adsense:300x250:3:3]
o Use Total Commander to navigate to \HKLM\Software\HTC\EngineerMode
o Assign a value of 1 to BuildIEngineerModeApp
o Close Total Commander and perform a soft reset by holding the Power Button for 5 seconds
o Power on your device, and wait for it to boot>/li>
o Now dial *#*#364#*#*
After about two seconds, a screen will appear with technical information about your cellular connection. Now the big question is of course, what does all this gibberish mean?

Thanks for your input, Buzz. I cannot find any entry encompassing AutoDPD in the registry. Could you please give me the registry path to the relevant section and keys?

Mine always begins at the start of the second ring.
1. use the original phone, not the bloated one with video messaging (not as pretty, but saves 3.5mb on load up)
2. remove memory card readers that are present on the today screen (eg SPB and Resco)
3. delays are longer when the contacts list is longer for caller id (I have 80 not 800)
4. consider when pictures and ringtones are also assigned to the contact (just use the standard single ring tone for all contacts, no pictures)
5. if your ring tones are on your sd card, this will also slow it down (move to windows\rings)
6. i extended the ring period also to a full 30 seconds to ensure that I have enough time to get to the phone when it rings out (phone settings voice mail or contact the provider)
I cannot get it to ring at all ever on the first ring, its always at the very beginning of the second especially from sleep mode or suspended)
3s delay before first effective ringing

I found the AutoDPDMode registry key here:
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\TureFFS_G31 and
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\TureFFS_G32
So, what are they? I guess there are related to ExtendRom and Storage Card.....
So, why disable it? Any effects afterwards???
Cheers,
Folloow up needed on this one!!

How did you get the original phone?
I tried the suggestions on the other thread where you need to change something in the registry, but that just disables the video messaging leaving a blank part on the screen. I want what you have, the original phone skin when I first turned my Universal ON after a hard reset. This original phone skin disappeared after I performed a soft reset.
From the wiki:
To set or remove the operator phone skin
The setting is at 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin'
The 'Enabled' DWORD value can be set to '1' to show the operator skin or '0' to show the default skin

Thanks for the reply, I am not sure if this was the one I tried before from one of the threads. How about you? Have you tried this registry tweak?
I did it by not installing any of the extended rom except operator settings, and the bluetooth patch.
my device boots up with 31mb of RAM available if all start ups and today screens are disabled.
I dont know how to do it otherwise.
I believe the hack mentioned above or similar on how to do it is posted on WIKI.
What has all this chit chat have to do with RINGER DELAY?

He guys this is not helping us a bit out of the problem. This has nothing to do with the problem some of us are facing regarding the ringer going off after a 2 to 3 sec delay, making you loose precious seconds to answer the phone before the call gets routed to your operator voice mail system.
And the suggestion that you have to alter the settings regarding the handover time for an unanswered call or the other advising to just cancel the handocer to voice mail is also not helping us.
Brgds, Adhoc.
Please focus on that one !!
Hi,
AutoDPD is Auto Deep Power Down for DOC. I think it takes longer to wake it up from this state and thus it takes longer to ring.
buzz
Radio Rom 1.08 Rings Quickly - but the person on the oher end can't hear you immediately
Rom 1.06 takes a bit longer berfore it rings but you can talk straigt away
The best enhancement if you are not going to use video or 3G speeds is to set you Band to GSM or WCDMA and NOT AUTO, in Phone Settings
Obvioulsy if you have it on WCDMA and there is no 3G coverage you wont get signal

You can change your power settings to never let your device go automatically into standby mode which would allow the wifi to stay connected. I wouldn't recommend this unless you have it plugged into the power supply because the battery won't last the whole day with wifi always activated.

thanks so much !
searching for the prog right NOW !
A little late but someone maybe finds it usefull, no need for programs, all you have to do is this:
The solution to have "always on" wi-fi, is applying three registry hacks. Please note that you must apply all three registry edits and soft reset your device before this takes effect. If you're looking for a free and reliable registry editor for your Windows Mobile device, you can take a look at the PHM Registry Editor.
The necessary registry edits are:
1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Suspend\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006} - change to 1
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power\State\Resuming\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006} change to 1
3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power\State\Unattended\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006} change to 1
Now the wi-fi connection will stay on even while your device is suspended. Remember that you'll have to re-enable the wi-fi connection if you soft-reset your device, though.
Tested and it works!
I was lookin through the registry in my HTC ROM and i found a weird key that said like engineering mode and it had a set of keys that i pressed. It is *#*#364#*#* and then it goes into like a program called GSM test mode. It has a lot of random info, and i was wondering if anyone knew what this was for
It just gives you some debug info on GSM/GPRS for the cell site you are connected to. Nothing useful unless you work for a telecom company and are doing cell site testing, or work for for HTC
Hey everyone, got a quick question.
I just finished installing the WM6.1 ROM for my T-Mobile dash, and it looks really nice. Everything is working fine, but I have two small problems.
The first thing is that for some reason, my phone wants to put a + in front of all outgoing calls. So if i make a contact in my address book with the phone number of 212-555-1212 and try to call them, the phone places the call as +2125551212 and I get an error from tmobile saying that 'The international phone call you are trying to make cannot be completed...' I realize that + denotes the international dialing prefix, and I can get around it by setting up all my contacts with a '1' before the area code, but there has to be a simpler solution as this was not the case with the original rom. If I dial a number normally, it doesn't put the + before it. Any ideas?
Lastly, I am having a hard time finding out how to disable the JOGGR from doing in-call volume adjustments. While I like it for scrolling, I find it really annoying in phone calls as it is constantly missreading my face as my finger and adjusting the volume up and down. In the original t-mobile rom there was an option under settings for it, but I can't see it in the new rom. I went into the registry editor and tried disabling one function that looked like what I wanted to turn off, but it didn't work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
-James
No idea about the + but the JOGGR disable is still in the Settings. It is on the 3rd page, #3 JOGGR.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I am able to disable the JOGGR completely using that, but I was hoping for a way to use it for scrolling, but not for volume control.
In regards to the + problem, I went through every option in Settings and couldn't find anything. All the Regional information is correct. I even used the RegEditor to search for + in the entire registry, and it came up with nothing relevant.... Weird. Especially because even if this is an international version, there shouldn't be a + in front of all calls by default, because that would force an international call no matter what country you are in...
Well, I think that it fixed it self in regards to the + problem. Even though I had done so before to no success, figuring that it is running a Microsoft product, a couple of reboots later and it seems to have gone away. Hopefully this isn't a bug that will continue to resurface or is the tip of a larger iceberg.
Just FYI, the + is the prefix for international dialing. If you input all your contacts as +1-404-555-1212 you won't have the problem (1 is the country code for the USA). Another plus to this method is that, if you should go outside the US to a country that uses the GSM network, you can dial your contacts directly via whatever carrier you're on there.
I've tried searching. Found nothing.
I remember on windows 6.1, when I used to have a 3G or HSDPA connection, clicking on their respective icons would bring up a disconnect button (Which I'm not too worried about) and a timer, showing how long the connection had been active. The timer is what I'm looking for.
Anyone here know of a way to re-enable it via the registry, or any good freeware software which would do the trick?
Really? 110 views and not a single suggestion?
Do you mean like this? (1st Image)
If so then you can enable it via touchflo settings (See 2nd and 3rd images)
Providing you have touchflo settings in there, I'll look in the registry to see what value its changing, if it does change one
I'm running a custom ROM of my own creation. I have removed TouchFlo (As I use a combination of various today screens instead) and only have the "Vibrate the device when tapping the tabs........" option available
Try this:
With a regeditor navigate to
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2
and change its value to 16 (Decimal).. Soft reset
It's already set to 16 Although a point of note may be that I'm using windows 6.5.23529, it doesn't immedietly go to the network popup, I go through a seperate menu popup.
Scratch that. Went back to my kitchen, made a few tweaks and then reflashed my newly cooked rom. Found that there -wasn't- a registry key this time, so I made one, reset the phone and it works! Fab Thanks matey!
