Guys,
Since upgrading to Black 2.5 I've found a problem with WAP browsing with Internet Explorer which was not present with Black 1.2. So for example, if I try to connect to WSP://wap.mysite.com my connection is blocked by my operator (They only allow connections via port 9201 and 9203 on their WAP APN). I've correctly set-up a proxy on my device to use port 9201 for WAP and 9203 for Secure WAP and so I believe IE is probably using the wrong destination port.
Has anyone else come across this problem? Any workarounds/fixes? Maybe a registry change somewhere??
Cheers,
Tony
Does your network use a different wap apn?
I have had a similar thing happen with black 2.5
I have entered in all the details for the carrier.
I have tried with and without the proxy. I have also tried the 3G and GPRS APN's and they all time out.
Its not a big deal to me as most of those WAP sites supplied by carriers are not worth looking at anyway.

I recently updated my SX66 m to v1.4O. My SX66 is an ATT variant so I followed the instructions from Blue Angel. I am on the Cingular network and and am having difficulty connecting to the internet. I have checked the settings and everything appears to be correct. Does anyone have any ideas?
THanks
Copy this cab to the device and run it! Enjoy!

Does this just allow access to plain ol' vanilla MEdia Net, or does it allow access to the mMode homepage that AT&T used to have?
Um it says cingular. so um no Mmode at&t. If you want the gay Mmode change your home page.
There are two types of Access points for Cingular. If you have a "data plan" with them, usually for access to DUN or a dedicated data service like GoodLink, you want to use the ISP access point. If you're just trying to browse the web, and you have a pay per use or small intnernet, you use the WAP access point. If you don't have a plan for ISP it won't work - you should try WAP first. Here's the info:
Start > Settings > Connections tab > Connections Icon > Manage existing connections under MEdia Net
Select the existing Access Point and click Edit
On the wizard, select Cellular Line (GPRS) for your modem
For the next few pages you specify either the WAP or ISP access point. *cAsE does matter, you need to specify usernames and passwords in all caps*:
"WAP" APN:
Access point name: wap.cingular
User: [email protected]
Pass: CINGULAR1
"ISP" APN:
Access point name: isp.cingular
User: [email protected]
Pass: CINGULAR1
That should do it. save your changes at the end of the wizard and try connecting to the internet. Questions: josh AT pinwheeltech [NOSPAM] dot com.
I am sure that this has been posted already, but I have not been able to find my answer yet.
I am trying to get my MMS settings to work with suncom's service, here is my problem i think?
Suncom uses port 9201 and WAP 2.0 - when i set to port 9201 i get a default of WAP 1.2 and when I set to WAP 2.0 I get a default port of 8677.
Can someone please tell me how to change the port settings on the Hermes running WM5....I also have the same issue with an S710 running WM6.
Thanks in advance for your help.
hi,
i am new to windows mobile. i am trying to connect to internet using my mobile over bluetooth/wifi. I can connect to active using either of them.
To access internet we have to use a http proxy with authentication for internet & specify 'no proxy' for internal websites.(for browsers)
in windows mobile, where should i specify these settings? I went to settings--> proxy and added http proxy, but couldn't figure out those 'connect from' work, wap etc. (connect what from what?)
i can access internal websites. using kavana's wm6.1
pay for unlimited web like the rest of us..i pay $30.00 every month for mine
and if everyone was paying for the unlimted internet maybe it would be cheaper than these people trying to set up proxy's
F$#k Proxy hack
If that's the way you want to go I suggest do a search/or google it 'cause I agree with hovax, the more people hack proxy's the more money we have to pay for our unlimited plans. I'm not speaking for everyone , but I know a lot of people here pay for their plan, rather than steal it.
well, i am from india. the plans we have here gives too low speed (10 to 15kbps) not worth it

I know you shouldnt need to GPRS accounts but for some reason on certain WM6 phones it ONLY works with both, doesnt matter if you have one or the other it wont work unless you have both (on certain phones), mine as well just put it all in, wont hurt anyway
P.S., this was all tested on 4 different t-mobile dash phones
Edge and IE work fine on any of the T-Zones plans with these settings on the dash just pop them in to Settings / Connection /

NEXT TIME DO SOME RESEARCH GOOGLE IT OR USE THE SEARCH FORUM ABOVE^^^^ and maybe you wont have to ask stupid questions. most of this stuff is already on the web you just have to SEARCH
if it's not on the forum look at some other sites because most likely there's people like us that's had this problem before and solved it already.
there is already a tread regarding it

Hi guys,
as said, i try to use my TP2 as a router, via my T-mo connection. I have an unlimited dataplan, and flashed the EngeryROM from Warhawk i guess.
Here is my Problem:
I can't access certain sites while using my TP as a router, and what annoys me the most is, that i cant run icq or steam on my laptop, using the TP...
Altough, icq runs on my TP.
Is this a port problem, or is it because T-mo blocks it?
Or any other idea?
Any help would be appreciated
I can't imagine that they'd block it. I'm not entirely up to speed on using the phone as a router, is it possible that the ports are blocked? Does the phone have an interface you can connect to similar to that of a traditional router? (IE tether your phone to your computer, once connected run an ipconfig and then type the address of the default gateway into your browser and see if there's an interface?) I might be way off base with that, though.
As an aside - I'm not sure what T-mobile's deal is with "unlimited" data plans. If it's anything like AT&T then once you cross that 5GB line you'll probably be on watch (from what I've gathered online), so you might want to look into that if it is your intention to pull a lot of data downstream from the likes of steam.
not familiar with t-mobile's data connection/setup but maybe its a proxy issue? try disabling the proxy if there is one and see if that helps.
I am using Energy Rom on my Tilt2 but I am on ATT
I had exactly the same issue.
Basically I had to disable proxy (which is a trick to get it to stick)
and switch to a different APN
I know it may not help but the default AT&T apn is wap.cingular
I use isp.cingular which supports direct connection without a proxy.
I am not sure how TMO does it's connections, but this may point you in the correct direction.
I guess its the proxy, cause i definitely know, that it's not volume limited.
Can anyone link me a tutorial or describe me how i can change that proxy or whatever, cause i'm really a noob when it comes to this...
The TP2 is my first WinMo device, so i ain't that experienced yet...
If you start WiFi Router, is there a choice for the internet connection in the lower area? I remember that I had several preconfiguratet connections on my MDA V when I got it from T-mobile. Maybe you can choose another connection there and it works. Did EnergyROM automatically set up your connections after flashing? Maybe you try these settings:
Name (Profilname): T-Mobile Internet
APN (Zugangspunkt): internet.t-d1.de
Benutzername: internet
Password: t-d1
DNS-Adresse: 193.254.160.001
IP- / Proxy- / Gateway-Port: 9201
Verbindungssicherheit: aus
GPRS-Ablaufzeit 2 Minuten
hey, tried out your settings, they seem to work, but i still cant connect with steam and icq -.-
i can only select the t-mobile internet connection in the wifi-router.
aaaaand i cant find the field where to enter this gateway port stuff you wrote.
Hope this links hel you:

And don´t forget to vote for Rhodium!
Nope, still not working. These tuts just show how to establish a connection, but i already got one. The problem is, that i can only access the internet via browser
No steam, icq, skype or else, which is pretty annoying, cause i don't want to pay an extra 25 euros for a surf stick by tmo...
Hi everybody,

Need connect to Internet through Opera but the browser show me a message that is not possible becouse the proxy. Already run the .cab for Disable Proxy but the problem still persists.
Well you can remove all the proxies you want and that wont help until you enter a new modem connection for it to connect with. It is set up to connect to ATT and as you are not on ATT it wont.
What carrier are you using? They all have specific settings. Once you input them and disable the proxies that tells Opera to use the ATT connection you should be fine.
Info should look like this
Name: Rogers Media
Access Point: Media.com
user name: wapuser1
password: wap

Thanks InRBigness, I use Entel (Chile, Southamerica).. i will try, but i dont know which registry key need edit for change Opera proxy.. you know?
thanks
Until you set up the data connection it will not work at all. Once you have the data connection set up then there is a cab that disables the proxy on Opera as well as a few other things like running in the background.
You also have to edit the opera.ini file so that it does not look for the proxy automatically. You can change it but unless you edit the .ini file it will not stick.
Set proxy to 0 in windows/opera.ini
[Proxy]
Enable HTTP 1.1 for proxy=0
HTTP Server=0
HTTPS server=0
Use HTTP=0
Use HTTPS=0
Use Proxy On Local Names Check=0
Then save and put back in your windows/opera directory.
here is some more info on the .ini : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=597539&highlight=opera+proxy+settings
