Using my TP2 as a Router - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi guys,
as said, i try to use my TP2 as a router, via my T-mo connection. I have an unlimited dataplan, and flashed the EngeryROM from Warhawk i guess.
Here is my Problem:
I can't access certain sites while using my TP as a router, and what annoys me the most is, that i cant run icq or steam on my laptop, using the TP...
Altough, icq runs on my TP.
Is this a port problem, or is it because T-mo blocks it?
Or any other idea?
Any help would be appreciated

I can't imagine that they'd block it. I'm not entirely up to speed on using the phone as a router, is it possible that the ports are blocked? Does the phone have an interface you can connect to similar to that of a traditional router? (IE tether your phone to your computer, once connected run an ipconfig and then type the address of the default gateway into your browser and see if there's an interface?) I might be way off base with that, though.
As an aside - I'm not sure what T-mobile's deal is with "unlimited" data plans. If it's anything like AT&T then once you cross that 5GB line you'll probably be on watch (from what I've gathered online), so you might want to look into that if it is your intention to pull a lot of data downstream from the likes of steam.

not familiar with t-mobile's data connection/setup but maybe its a proxy issue? try disabling the proxy if there is one and see if that helps.

I am using Energy Rom on my Tilt2 but I am on ATT
I had exactly the same issue.
Basically I had to disable proxy (which is a trick to get it to stick)
and switch to a different APN
I know it may not help but the default AT&T apn is wap.cingular
I use isp.cingular which supports direct connection without a proxy.
I am not sure how TMO does it's connections, but this may point you in the correct direction.

I guess its the proxy, cause i definitely know, that it's not volume limited.
Can anyone link me a tutorial or describe me how i can change that proxy or whatever, cause i'm really a noob when it comes to this...
The TP2 is my first WinMo device, so i ain't that experienced yet...

If you start WiFi Router, is there a choice for the internet connection in the lower area? I remember that I had several preconfiguratet connections on my MDA V when I got it from T-mobile. Maybe you can choose another connection there and it works. Did EnergyROM automatically set up your connections after flashing? Maybe you try these settings:
Name (Profilname): T-Mobile Internet
APN (Zugangspunkt): internet.t-d1.de
Benutzername: internet
Password: t-d1
DNS-Adresse: 193.254.160.001
IP- / Proxy- / Gateway-Port: 9201
Verbindungssicherheit: aus
GPRS-Ablaufzeit 2 Minuten

hey, tried out your settings, they seem to work, but i still cant connect with steam and icq -.-
i can only select the t-mobile internet connection in the wifi-router.
aaaaand i cant find the field where to enter this gateway port stuff you wrote.

Hope this links hel you:

And don´t forget to vote for Rhodium!

Nope, still not working. These tuts just show how to establish a connection, but i already got one. The problem is, that i can only access the internet via browser
No steam, icq, skype or else, which is pretty annoying, cause i don't want to pay an extra 25 euros for a surf stick by tmo...

AOL with wifi problem help needed maybe fix with activesync?

after spends countless hours of trying to set up an internet wifi set up i find aol broadband is not compatible with my router (netgear). im gutted as the only reason i bought the router was to connect to the internet via my blue angle.
i can still browse files and connect with activesync using wifi. when i connect to activesync i still get all the updates with anvantgo. so this means that its connects to the internet all be it via a kind of third party. is there not a program which could sync the pda to the pc and get the pc to receive the data and then sync it back to the pda if that makes any sense what so ever?????
apart from cancelling my AOL account which is in another 6months has anyone got any ideas????
I have a netgear 834GT (I think) wifi ADSL / router thingy that seems to work OK with my AOL UK account...and I think Netgear routers are on the AOL list of recommended kit....and since you're getting to avantgo, you must be on the net, but I know how infuriating this stuff can be...I couldn't get my XDA IIs to connect to my wifi network for nearly 2 weeks!!
Just been on to aol customer support, they don’t support networking for silver customers and they want me to upgrade to broadband so instead of 17.99 I need to pay 24.99 a month + buy a new wireless router which they support at the moment they only support one wireless router and conveniently they sell this for £80.
So my £35 net gear router is now worthless looks like im going to have to sell it back on ebay.
I still can not help thinking that there must be another way round this using activesync or another program like this.
Edit, if you ring aol and say you want to cancel they will offer you the gold service for 19.99 a month you don’t need to finish your contract if have still got 7 months
still no ideas abt activesync????????????
AOL Gold simply allows multi user access.
For AOL Broadband to work you need to drop the MTU rate to 1400 from 1500 or 1482.
It should work, but only one person can log on at a time. So whatever your main name is , set this up as the logon details for the router.
This may or may not work. The MTU rate is important for AOL.
Don't use AOL. That's my advice. They lock all sorts of things down. Pain in the *SS

what wireless router are you using as i need to buy a new one which works
sorry to hear you're still having problems....i forgot to mention I'm on AOL gold (I had to upgrade to broadband in the first place as our work VPN connection kept dropping...apparently well known 'issue' with AOL they have a 'keep alive' or 'heartbeat' signal that the VPN blocks, so AOL disconnect you!).
anyway, after deciding to go broadband I went for gold as it allows more than one connection at a time. The Netgear router I have is the DG834GT as I said before, and once I got the wifi connected, its fine. however I often get this problem that after 'connecting' you just get 'cannot connect to network' errors all the time, even though the XDA IIs is 'connected' to the network! I've found recently that re-inputting my WEP code seems to clear this - god knows why!
the thing is where i live i can not get gold as the line is bad. so they want me to pay for gold and not get the service just so i can have a router.

Wifi / Proxy Profiler??

Hi!
I haven't seen any application that can do this after some time looking for it, and I think it may well be the case with some of us.... let me explain..
When at home, I can have a WIFI connection to my home ADSL which needs a 'clean configuration'.. ie.. DHCP address and NO PROXY.
But, when at the office, I can also get the address thru DHCP, but I need to configure a proxy to be able to connect to Internet....
Plus, at some of the sites I work in, I need not only a different proxy, but a 'manually' configured address.
Well, the question... Is there any application that can help with the switching of environements, based, for instance, in the SID of the access point available?
I've seen apps such as CommMgrPro that can 'switch' profiles based on the pohone cell-id (which could also be fine to define your location), but you can only 'switch ON and OFF the WIFI (or any other) connection, but in no case can I manage the proxy (BTW this is a difficult setting to handle even manually!)
Thanks

WM6 internet problems!

I have the AT&T 8525 and i just upgraded to WM6 and when i turn my wifi on and then try to connect to the interent by opening my internet browser it says that the connection was lost or what ever. I know my wifi is working though because i have other programs that use the interent and they connect fine! Anybody have any suggestions or help they can guide me through to get past this? Thanks!
yea im having the same problem....
Same here. But I use Opera so it doesn't bother me to much.
Same thing
I experience the samething as well. I did not test connection with other applications but PIE didn't work with Wi-Fi turned on. Thanks
I have the same problem. However, i managed to solve the little bug.
all you have to do is press start menu, click programs, and look for proxy manager, and diable proxy.
It should fix your IE problem when connect using wireless.
good luck!
You wont be able to use wifi with the MediaNet profile, change it to My ISP.. you might also need to change the isp.cingular APN to wap.cingular it depends on what type of data plan you have in the billing system. if you have isp.cingular which is for laptop connects which gives you a real IP then isp.cingular should work.

English is my second language but I'm trying also I'm not to familiar with windows as I use Linux and BSD on my computers.

Constantly losing 'Work' proxy settings

Hi all, have a little problem, am going to see if Toms 4.1 rom has the same issue, and something in the back of my mind tells me that it's there by design.
Basically, i connect to two different types of wireless networks, those are:
Work: I go to different schools, all part of the same WAN, the access points are different, keys etc, but the proxy is always 172.1.0.5:8080
Everywhere else: no proxy, random addressing, the usual stuff.
Every time i enter the work proxy server and leave the connections tab, the proxy settings dissapear, it only seems to be the main proxy settings, as the WAP, Secure WAP and Socks settings keep. As soon as i connect to the work network, goodbye proxy, as soon as i disconnect, the proxy settings return.
I really need that to work the other way around.
Currently using Toms B&B 4.0, as previously stated i'll check to see what happens in 4.1, but i have a sneaky idea that it's there for a reason.
Any workarounds? registry hacks?
Thanks
Kai
Still having trouble with my proxy settings, tried B&B 4.0, 4.1 and Artemis touch WWE.
All have the same problem, Proxy server settings dissapear when and only when i use the Work settings for connection. If i use the 'Internet' setup or simply disconnect from Wifi, the proxy settings re-appear.
If i can't get this to work, i'll have to go back to the official rom, all of the other bells and whistles are just fluff, i need this more than anything else.
Thanks
same deal here. they certificate secured services with my problem. connect fine, and get DHCP address assigned, but the proxy server settings don't stick. internal sites are fine, but can't get outside as all access is barred except via the proxies. i figured it was a bug and live with it! please let me know if the official ROM fixes it or you find a workaround though!

Had no problems with proxy settings with the official WM5 or WM6 roms, but with B&B and WWE i've had no luck at all.
I do hope someone knows why this is happening.
Well, think i found the solution to this.
I was thinking that there had to be something specific to the 'cooked' roms which would disable the proxy, and the only thing i could in common with the Three cooked roms that i've tried has been battery status. It's the only utility that mentions specifically 'disabling the proxy for wifi'.
In the options for battery status you will find an option that will do just that, i enabled it(thus theoretically stopping the proxy from working), and then disabled it again. And now when i connect through my work connection, the proxy settings are still active and i can recieve my mail.
**and before anyone asks, i didn't enable the option before **

[Q] HELP! HTC Touch Pro 2 VPN/Proxy

I work for a faily large UK company and im trying to setup an HTC Touch Pro 2 (Unbranded on BT-Mobile). I have managed to get everything setup as i want including a VPN connection to my works internal network. Currently this requires having 2 network connections setup in the settings of this device... one for GPRS and one for "My Work Network" which automatically connects when required. Now the only problem im having is users can browse on these devices unrestricted however our PCs all require browsing is done through a proxy. I have tried every possibly setup on this device to route traffic through our proxy server but i have had no luck.
Has anyone managed to set this up?
Is it even possible as they wouldnt be connected to the VPN while browsing via GPRS?
Any hints/tips?
Im really loosing my mind with this one.
Thanks in advance!
