@geraldo3: This is a nice attempt, but IMO, it really doesn't talk about WM6. It talks about other apps that can be installed on any WMx OS. It doesn't bring up many of the differences between WM5 and 6, and while it talks about how powerful the OS is, I find you're really not using any of the native apps that it includes (no problem, neither am I), so how "powerful" is THAT?
When you named your device "dopey" (a common synonym for "stupid"), I thought you were going to be detailing how the changes between WM5 and WM6 are only minor ... no real modifications to the OS programs, outside of some very minor aesthetics. No enhancement of the calendar, contacts, pie, task management, basic ui, media player, etc. Many of the "bugs" that were in WM5 still exist in WM6. But your article is mostly complimentary, instead. Left me a bit puzzled.
Yes, IMO, there are many reasons to call WM6 "dopey". The only things I really find are some slight speed improvements, and few UI changes (that some people like and some hate), and, depending on the ROM, a bit more stability. It's the ROM cookers here that have made the OS CONSIDERABLY faster, and have given us back some storage and program space, to boot. IMO, WM6 really should have been called WM5.1.
On an editorial side, you've written pretty well, but you do need to check some of your grammar, sentence structure, etc, if professional writing is your goal. If not, don't worry about it ... you have gotten your points across well enough. One thing you might consider (if you haven't already), is removal of the personal details in your screen shots. The Internet can be a nasty place at times, and you need to be careful (but maybe you made sure all the data shown is false).
Anyway, that's it for my comments. Thanks for sharing!

Good for a Blogger. I would say battery drain comes from SPB and the Radio you are using as you made it sound like wm 6 is the problem.

System App .CABs?

This may or may not be a stupid question and I've looked high and low for an answer but is there anywhere i can download system apps individually? Specifically Windows Live Messenger.
The ROM i have installed doesnt have it included and a .CAB of it would be beautiful.
Correct me if this isnt even possible...

microsoft probably has windows live messenger available for download.
EDIT: I found it, but it is so easy to find that I won't be helping you. I don't even think you searched. If XDA doesn't work, try Google.

that isnt exactly a download link. every other website is third party apps... which are not what i was looking for. and thus all these answers saying basically "****ing google it liar" are completely wrong. if you actually googled it yourself youd see that it isnt a solution. hence me asking here....

nevermind. i am infact retarded. i had no idea that msn was bundled WITH the live service because my phone still had live on it just not messenger... i downloaded the whole bundle and now lifes great... but thanks for calling me stupid a bunch that was pleasant.... how am i suppose to know theyre bundled together?! Well, the title kinda explans a lot and I really wanted to read XDA without going the the site every time and I was envius that Android people had a version so I am in the process of making on for our Winmo devices so thats about it. I wa planning on doing it though RSS but is there another interface I can have access to in order to make this app?

wow that was fast. Yeah I have a lot of experience in developing for winmo using visual studio 2010 so im pretty comfortable using the pro and standard SDK.
only problem is that I was planning on hosting this project on my site but my domain registration (hydrosmobile.com) ran out - the one year lease...and im kinda broke now so im gonna have to host it here until I get some donations.

sounds great we need something like this perhaps xda should sponsor apps like these after all they benefit

crap! i just realized how i could have done it. I could have taken the php and read it as an XML file and parsed it until I got to the right tag and then display it in the phone. Anyway, i did learn something new.

Hello guys, I have idea about the Perfect APP and who is able to make such thing will become a Millionaire with sure.
1st wana say im not a programer and i just have the right idea.. i cannot do it by myself but i decide to write it here and maybe some of you can be interested.
Its hard really but its inovation and worth the time because will change almost everything.
Now every single day we clearly can see that more and more the peoples start using they Pocket PC to surf in the net than the regular methood so.. all costumers LOVE the direct application.. like YouTube PLayer.. like many other because they dont need to open a browser and to type there the url.. and to wait to load.. they prefer ready APPs because is alot more easyer, Faster and Smooth with one single click you are there where you wana be.
My idea is:
Single Program.. that will be conected to a web address, in the web address can have actual INFO of alost everything.. from Wheater, Finances, Cinema, News, Sport, Flight tickets and many more.. you name it..depends how hard you wana do it..
So imagine one single APP in your device.. when you run it.. directly to appear like web page all the INFOs and you just choice what you wana chek today.. also will recognize the Country AREA and will show you exactly the INFO you need.
For example if you are from UK... when the app load you will be able to see the curency GBP to all other.. the corect wheater for your city, what movies will be played in the Cinema, Events, News and all this for UK... so with app like this you will be always in touch you do not need any more.. to read newspapers, or surf in internet to read some news etc.
Application like this will be inovation and will change everything in the MOBILE bussines.
This is the idea all rights reserved. If anyone is able to do such application will become Millionaire with SURE

I'm all for it! Hopefully Google will put it on android at least, but it would be amazing to have it on wm too, the mobile web version at the moment isn't very good.

[Q] WM7 internet Data Counter

Good day guys.
I got my brand new omnia 7 and i was wondering abiout the possibility to keep in control the 3g data used per month.
is there any apps or any way to control the amount of data used (and i'm talking about the data used through the carrier).

I have a live tile on my homescreen which is a link to the following website;

This webpage gives me my remaining credit, how many free texts I have left and how much data I have left. So it provides a data counter.
This is for UK O2 Pay as you go, but I'm sure other carriers provide similar mobile web pages for their customers to see their account status.
There's really no need for an app. Just find out the URL from your carrier and pin the page to your home screen. Et voila!

well... One of our cerriers doesn't provide such option... And besides, it is one of the minimum requirements that a phone like this should have... What surprises me the most is that no app has been developed yet... =[

I don't know this guy, but I'd love to... anyway, my carrier (WIND) does have a website but it doesn't give the chance to track the amount of bytes that have been used... i know.. it's sad!!
Nonetheless, I keep saying that this option should be given for this amount of money

it is indeed a bit weird that a smartphone wouldn't provide this information, but hopefully MS wise up a bit and bring it in as part of an update sometime soon.
i don't believe you'll see a proper app for this (possibly a homebrew one might come along though) as the proper APIs for this haven't been made available (i think anyways).

-Ringtones&vibrations loving each other
-Data counter telling you that you're spending way too much time online
-A camera that you can silence in order to take picture of your neighborhood

i definitely understand what you're talking about. and yes there is still a lot missing. hopefully MS actually takes the time with these updates to implement some of these features which i don't think would take all that long to code. but for now, be patient. perhaps post your ideas on social.microsoft.com, as that is the direct communication line with them. and perhaps in one of the pinned threads (future updates i think it is), so that we can keep track of features we'd like to see.

do we even know why you need a silent shudder???

some want it. from what i've read in the past, HTC phone's shutter sound obays the actual volume you set, so if you set the volume to 0, you get no shutter sound. this doesn't apply to Samsung and LG phones though. but i think having a silent shutter should be added.
