Hi guys.
I have a strange problem.Yesterday i have bought me online a SFR v1640-
a white and very beautifull version of the QTEK 9000.Works perfektly as a
PDA(Wi-fi,navigation,MP3,video and reader)but doesn't seem to recognize any SIM card! When i make a soft reset it shows No GSM v.1.13.65 FRE!
What got wrong?
White? Sounds cool.
Did you buy it new? Someone could've installed a bad Radio ROM that could cause those problems.
I'd suggest upgrading to the latest ROM available from your operator, then if you still have problems it's probably a hardware fault.
...........
And the even Stranger thing is that i cannot enter the telefone menu of the
WM5!The thing is not locked but seems to really doesn't have a GSM module!
SFR Radio update?
Because i have no access to the FTP for unknown reason can someone send me the file for Radio ROM update for a french SFR v1640 on my [email protected]

Well, Radio ROMs should work for any country, I would recommend trying your operator's recommended ROM (including CE, ExtROM and RADIO) to see if things work.
Game over
Well i've done it!Now the damned device snows the bootloader screen and doesn't work!i've tried softreset, coldboot and hardreset but all
i receive is the sad words Serial and v1.00 on the screen!
This means you stuck in bootloader.

Peculiar situation.
I have the Softbank version of the Dopod C730 in black with latest ROM in chinese (1.16.708.7) and have been using it for a good 3-4 days now. Everything worked swell then the Wifi went yesterday, did a hard reset and fixed the problem. Today same thing, except this time hard reset did nothing. At first I still had Wifi in comm manager but it was saying "Drivers Not Loaded" and wouldnt fire up the wlan. Then after a couple soft resets the WLAN option totally disappeared from comm manager and main screen. I unlocked the CID lock on the phone, and loaded the previous ROM in English (which worked without a hitch)and It loaded WLAN drivers for a second then died...although now I do have WLAN option in Comm manager again.
Cant get into the dopod site with my S/N to download the 1.16.708.7 ROM (when i registered without a device I couldnt get downloads at all just manuals) and I noticed the wiki only has the chinese version. If anyone has this rom they could send me or upload it in English id appreciate that.
But the big question is, how do I ressurect my WLAN and is there a CAB driver for it?
Just as a follow up. Went back to the original newest Asian ROM from the older English based one and now the WLAN works (albeit drops connections worse than before) Thats after I wiped out all the Tmobile WAP/MMS settings, programs and oh yea had to have the CID unlock.
Such a stupid situation, I dont understand how the whole WLAN card can just drop out of comm manager and drivers not load and it takes 2 ROM flashes to revive it.
Anyone have the latest ROM in English?

Did it ever occure to you to do a search? or to check other threads?
Cavalier ROMS are bilingual (C730 chinese/english, Softbank japanese/english).
So, if you have CID unlocked your device you can put C730 ROM from FTP to your device.

Hello. Where did you pay for your CID unlock? I've searched and no one seem to have a CID unlock solution for the Cavalier. I bought a used dopod C730 that doesn't have the WLAN option in Comm Manager although the box and manual says I'm supposed to have it. I have tried reloading the original ROM included in the Dopod disc with no success. I was going to try to load a different ROM but kept getting errors due to it being CID locked.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

I've checked the Wiki over and over regarding my issue. Unless my eyesight is giving out on me, I don't see anything that refers to my problem. I assume that my C730 is a Hong Kong version since it has CSL 1010 logo on it.
If you could please provide any special information regarding Hong Kong version C730, please do tell and share the info. I've researched about my problem until my eyes turned white and I could not find any solutions.
And yes, I've used the search function to no success. Also, I've tried the ROM found in the disc and at the Wiki and still no positive result for ressurecting my wifi.
Thank you.

PLZ help me, while trying to upgrade my HERM I lost the Radio, there is a message (No GSM) appearing during the boot.
I've tried many unofficial ROMs, but still getting the same message!!!
And when I tried to use the official ROM, the upgrade stopped on 11%!!??
To solve the hangup problem, I used unofficial ROM again, and after the upgrade I found the same GSM problem again.

Fine,,,
Device: at&t 8525
ROM: Original WM5 ROM, and while trying to upgrade it my device hanged up on the colored screen. To fix that, I've installed schap's 4.31 WM6 ROM using the MicroSD Card (HERMIMG). Now the device can boot but with No GSM at all (even there's no information about the GSM under Device Info).
The device now can accept any modified ROM (like schap's, faria, etc...) but unable to accept the official (original) ROMs. When I try to install any official ROM the upgrade process will stack on 11% every time.
So, the device still having no GSM.
Thank You....
FirasKB,
Most roms on her DO NOT come with a radio included. Usually only the manufacturer roms do.
There are 2 things you need to do:
- Consult the MrVanx guides which will help you understand what you are doing (google search for this).
- go to the wiki in this forum and search for a radio rom to upload.
In summary, reflash, say, Scahps rom then flash a radio rom from the wiki (I suggest radio 1.47, which is pretty reliable).
Hope this helps.

Ahhh, a little info.
First download the official AT&T 3.62 ROM which includes the 1.54.07.00 radio.
Reboot the pc with the PDA disconnected.
(Oh, make sure that you have ActiveSync 4.5 insttalled of course)
Put the device into bootloader mode (hold power and OK button while pressing reset with stylus, nice tri color screen will appear)
Connect the PDA to the USB cable and run the RUU_Inside.exe file.
wacky.banana is correct, most chef's don't include a radio. You've got a corrupted ROM (due to the incomplete flash) The RUU_Inside.exe will typically talk directly to the hardware when nothing else can and fix. I've personally recovered around 10 or so 8525's that I've "bricked" with bad flashes and then repaired with this method.
I can't guarantee that this will work but it IS your best shot friend.
Good luck!

Kindly, advice...
I can't remeber what error 262 is about; however is your device unlocked? If it is not then you need to address that issue first (its in the wiki)
Secondly have you installed hard spl to your device BEFORE attempting to upgrade your rom? If the answer to this question is no then that will confirm that you have not read up on this before jumping in, which is hugely dangerous.

Thanks again to your support,
The problem happened when I tried to unlock the device to upgrade it (it was fine befor), I don't know whether it was already locked or not, but usualy when I buy any Pocket P.C I'm preparing to unlock it first (I've done that many times on HERMES before, but this is the first time I'm facing such problem!!). So, while unlocking the device it's stucked on the tri color screen.
I've done many things after that to solve the problem (updating the hard SPL to v2.10 successfully, flashing many ROMs -not including Radio- successfully).
So, I can flash any ROM now but it must be without Radio, otherwise the flashing process will stuck on 11%.

ideally use a stock-rom for testing purposes!!! (see wiki for download)

what is that pin?
your Personal Identification Number, an almost 4 keys long code you have to enter to get access tou your simmodule... or isn't such a thing there in india? it just should have been a little joke with not entering the pin... but maybe you really forgot about doing this?
mmm.. maybe you have just to flash a another radio
thanks for all the responses
but finally i found out that there was problem with the
sim insertion socket it was not touching the connector from one side
finally all well
For those of you who have NO GSM on boot (and I know there are a few). The solution could've been posted some time ago, but might be too far back or lost.
I received a board with locked GSM, showing NO GSM on boot. Every radio flash failed, as well as MTTY and factory ROM attempts. Error 114 and Country ID errors prevent proper flashing of any radio.
Here is what got my GSM sorted - I flashed radio through CID by-pass by inserting the necessary .nbf into flashing facility and managed to flash the radio. On a first boot it will show NO GSM, so will seem like the problem is still there. However, I removed the battery overnight and in the morning the flashed radio showed on the boot screen, the Uni booted as usual and is working as it should.
Thanks enigma
I´ll post this on the FAQ
