Hey guys...
After reading the last wm6 vanilla thread, i can imagine how annoying i was w/ the wm6 black 2.0 release b*ing and whining about how i coudln't my wireless to work...
anyways, i'll try to cut the stupidity posts to a minimum but in the meantime maybe someone has tried using a usb gps receiver on their phone.
i'm trying to configure ports and stuff via usb, but not too sure what baud rate, which com port etc to set everything at for maximum usage... in fact i don't even know if the darn thing works with my phone either
about to reinstall googlemaps to see if the usb will work....
i know everyone is using bluetooth, but i had this garmin usb 18 laying around for my laptop and bought a usb --> mini usb adapter and thought i'd try it
if anyone has tried, please help me out... thanks

Not a stupid question, a stupid place to ask it. Try here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=307
you can't connect a USB GPS to the phone.
the USB GPSs require a server side USB port, the phone is only a client USB port. Hence, you can't connect peripherals to it such as GPSs, printers etc...
Bluetooth GPS units work very well with the Hermes though!?

yes please close this thread... the if the hermes supported USB Host then it would be a possibility of having it working... but no chance....
Is here a way that you can you connect the Artemis phones to an external monitor. Have anyone tried this?
It never came to my mind... why would you want to do that?
the only way i could think of is to use my mobiler, but you'll need another pc.

I was thinking to conect it to my onboard display which is bigger. It will help to use the navigation while driving.
usb connector is useless for such things as it not being usbHost able it's only for charging and sync with pc
so you need a microSD to monitor card there are ones out you can get

Can you give me a link to such a card?
http://gadgetdna.com/?p=327
found with
http://www.google.dk/search?hl=da&q=microSD+tvout&btnG=Søg&meta=lr=lang_da|lang_en
SOTI pocket controller
You can buy SOTI pocket controller and use a verry low res on the host machine?
A tool that I'm using is Microsoft's "Remote Display Control Host". You install a small client on the phone and the PC and you can see your display in real-time on your PC monitor (tried it with WinXP but it should work in Vista as well).
You can even "zoom in" x1, x2, x3, but the analysis is not any good at x2, x3.
You can find it in MS Pocket PC Power Toys in technet: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/archive/wce/downloads/ppctoys.mspx#ELD
The link for the tool in Microsoft's website: http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/3/7/5376bdb4-0aec-40df-bb5c-7a4eb4819b25/remotedsp.exe
I hope this helps.

Such a card would not work for the Artemis as it has its MicroSD socket under the SIM card AND the battery.....

Well, it would help a lot to know what ROM you have
try desabling advanced network functionality on start-settings.connections-usb to pc: Untick that (Not sure if your ROM has this option)
Good luck,
im running kaneva 6.1
Kavana 6.1 Excalibur i did what u said still didnt wrk even hard reset didnt wrk
I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the cable.
A USB cable is just a USB cable right?
Wrong.
It turned out that the cable I was using was from my SatNav unit, not the one that came with the phone.
The phone lead works just fine with the navigator but the phone doesn't like the navigator lead.
Honest.
I'm not even making this up ...
Try a different lead. It really might help.
Stop laughing.
It might.
did that still didnt wrk
Bugger.
Thought I was going to save the day there.
In your first post, you imply that it used to sync via USB and now doesn't.
Are you trying this through ActiveSync or that Vista WMDC thingy?
Will it sync over USB on another machine?
Oh yeah - even though it won't sync, does your phone show up as a folder in Explorer?
idk if it will sync on other pc and kno it doesnt show up as a folder
Assuming that the USB drivers on your big machine haven't collapsed, is it possible that the socket on the phone is damaged or full of pocket fluff?
Try it on another machine. If that also turns out to be a joyless experience, it might be time for rolled-up sleeves, equipment and strong drink.
If you get no further on another system, post some more details -
ROM version
OS
Credit card number and PIN
etc.
You know the sort of thing.
so I'm wondering if it is possible to connect the pro2 to the computer via usb and use it as a microphone. anyone know of if this is possible?

Hey gang, I can't seem to connect my LG to my laptop. I had the GS3 and it never was able to connect I thought it was because Samsung and Apple didn't get along that they made the connection difficult. But now I have the LG and its the same thing, it doesn't want to connect. Is there something on my computer or is it the phone?

Hello! You can find the drivers you would need and I would suggest installing the LG PC Suite, from here..
http://mobilepcsuite.com/lg-g3-pc-suite-465
After installing these, and your laptop doesn't recognizes the phone then there could be old drivers blocking you from connecting your LG phone.. OR bad USB connections ( check your USB ports ).. Good luck

Have you installed your phone drivers from that site? Try connecting another USB device such as a flash drive or something to check if your ports are working well. Reboot your laptop with the phone plugged in.. See what happens.. Next step is to try connecting your phone to a pc or another laptop.. Your USB ports could be damaged.

my other USB connection work. I rebooted and it gives me that little sound that its connected but "Charging" nothing far as MTP. This is frustrating. I always have to use Airdroid in order for me to sync my pics or any other files.

Try this http://www.mylgphones.com/download-and-install-the-usb-drivers-for-lg-g3-on-windows-and-mac.html
Check your USB ports under Device Manager on your laptop and uninstall those with yellow exclamation marks ( if any ).
BTW.. after you connect the device to your laptop and use the pull-down menu.. Do you get the 3 options ..
Charge Phone , Media Device (MTP) and Send Images (PTP)?

Damn bro! If those files didn't help then I'm afraid I have no more options or suggestions..Usually, it's a driver issue but I have no clue about Mac and their drivers. .. Connect your phone to a laptop using Windows.. In that way you'll know if the device is faulty or not.
Let me know once you've got it resolved..Hopefully it'll be soon .. Good luck :fingers-crossed:

Thanks for the tips. I was able to download the LGPCSuite and when I do connect my phone and open the app it recognizes my phone, but all I can add to my phone are pics, videos, and music. I can't add any folders or anything else. Its not allowing me to see all my folders on my phone.
A weird solution that worked for me
I had the same problem. My g3 would only charge when connected via usb and only connect to pc suite via wifi.
I tried everything, but no luck.
In my case, the problem was that the usb cable, although it looked like it was nicely plugged in, it needed to be pressed down to make a right connection. If i just plug the usb cable, it just showed that the phone was charging.
But if i press the last part of the cable, just where it enters at the bottom of the phone, then all other option show up(like mtp etc), my windows system makes the familiar usb sound etc. If I give up the pressure, then back to charging only mode.
I hope this helps some of you. It is a bad usb port at the phone that caused the problem.

Well Thanks, for the post, I know you didn't need to write all this when your phone was connected for good, but you did it because you knew there would also be some people like me in need of your help,
My friend has the same problem with his AT&T LG G3, it only charges when connected to PC and no other connection setups are shown neither on the phone nor in the PC/laptop so, and i have done all the things possible and i could thinks off.
Now i think i should try your method and will tell you if it also works for his G3 or not. Thanks by the way.
