Extended Rom unlock and Intent cab??

Has anyone been able to figure out how to unlock teh extended rom on the Dash (actually more specifically the s620/excalibur)?
The reason I'm asking is I'm looking for a cab for the intent midlet manager. I'm curious to see if it handles the high mem version of opera mini better than teh default esmertec one does. I'm not patient enough to wait for their "fix" I guess

there isn't an extended ROM in the smartphone OS.
*BUT*
The high memory version of Opera mini works great on my Dash running the S620 OS.

apparently the problem is in the midlet mgr tmo usa bundled, hence the request for intent.

Why don't you just install the HTC ROM?

re-read my post. I own a Dash and loaded the s620 FW on it. Best think I ever did.
ANYTHING to get rid of XT9!!!!

Ah I missed that part. I received teh reply notification while I was in the car. Typed teh reply at a red light
I've debated bewteen installing it or not. Here's my reasons why not:
1) I'm cheap. I don't know if I wanna spend the $40 to unlock.
2) This is the first smartphone I've bought from tmo. I'm still nervous about voiding any warranty. I need to research a bit about being able to either reflash to the stock tmo rom or backing up my rom to a microSD like I did with teh MDA, as well as being able to CID lock my phone again just incase I have problems.
3) I'm coming from an MDA that I've flashed probably 15 different times. Its a slippery slope to Phone geekdom once I start.
We'll see what happens, thanks for the tips tho. (Eliminating xT9 would be nice though...

Reasons to unlock your phone and flash the s620 ROM on it...
1. the original T-Mobile ROM is available so you could always go back.
2. I'd pay T-Mobile 40 bucks if they'd tell me how to at least turn XT9 off permanently!
3. I hate carrier branding.
4. You'll get that good java client you want
5. You know you want to
6. You'll be able to use *ANY* ROM that comes out in the future.

My understnding is the HTC ROM doesnt support teh push and hold feature to get teh alt of each key?? I've really gotten used to that now.

that is correct, no push and hold. The only other thing that is wierd in the s620 ROM is when you're surfing a mobile webpage where you can hit a number for an option instead of highlighting and selecting it, it doesn't work. Typing 7 to delete your hotmail works on the T-Mobile ROM but not the s620 ROM. No idea why.
*BUT*
That XT9 irritated me SO much, I don't care what I lose. Losing XT9 is the best feature of this ROM and my main motivation for doing it. Also, you get the native JOGGR functionality back (which is a little buggy and slower than using the D-PAD but I digress).
It is a very solid ROM and the Intent Java client is a nice bonus.

yup. There is no extended ROM on Smartphones but POF can probably answer better than anyone.
I'm saying there isn't... But I've been wrong before.

there is other smartphone with extended roms and to clarify to those who do not know what extended rom is ,when its visible on your device it is a folder with all the applications and carrier settings in it ,that when you hard reset your device they are installed,and one thing is to find how to make it visible with file explorer and another is to unlock it to be able to copy the files some where else ,!!!

Address-autocompletion in WM6

Hi Folks!
Has anyone managed to get the To-Field autocomplete functionality in WM6 back to how it worked under WM5? Under WM5 it checked the name I typed into the To-Field against the Addressbook in "realtime" - under WM6 I now have to go into the Menu and select "Check Names".

I don't find anything negative in "Geek" and I would define myself as such but since I definitely did not mean to offend anyone and since It's sure that at least one person did take it that way I've changed my posting.

My autocomplete seems to work fine on WM6. I start typing the name and i get a list automatically pop up so i can just click it. I get this for SMS and email. MMS unfortunately i still have to click to and then add names manually but then i had to do that with WM5 anyway.

That's strange - for me it does not. Have you installed an extended ROM? Because I haven't and thats the only difference I can think of.

No problem mate! But still I will not call anyone Geek anymore since it's apparently not for everyone as positive as for me.

Nope, only cabs i've installed from an ext rom are the ones that get video calling working.
Pretty sure that it was working before then though......
With WMXL v.20 coming soon (no doubt you'll be upgrading) you may want to try a hard reset or perhaps a reflash to see if your problem persists.

PTT in Cingular 8525 WM6 LVSW?

Have anyone got the PTT to work on WM6?

PTT and WM6 itself is being worked on.. it has proved to be quite challenging... But im sure after we get it figured out that it will be easy to port to other versions...

How far is the project and where can I find the development documentation-wiki or whatever is being use to track progress?

NOTE: By the way I got the application apparently running but i still can not register with cingular. I keep receiving a SMS with an error code. My next step will be re import every setting from the registry (WM5 with PTT fully working). I guess I still have something missing.

Ripping the PTT app from the New ATT ROM

Just curious if there is anyone out there that can get the PTT app from the new cingular ROM such that it can be installed on WM6 or non ATT Hermes ROM's.

maybe if someone rip it out of DPadMenu.dll which is also used for Smart Dialling, or the other solution is to remove it with smart dialing.

If it was that easy there would already be a ptt wm6 rom.

I know Sleuth had a PTTfix cab from a while back that added the functionality (it worked very well too)... I'm curious if the PTT software in the new official ROM is the same or newer. Has anyone looked into that?

let me give you a more serious answer... this has been worked on since i first recieved a rom with PTT on it late last year... i havent had a whole lot of time.. and the software itself works for the most part... but there is 1 important part that does not work, after we can make that work then it will be possible to port to WM6... but as custel said.. its not that easy... congratulations to cingy and HTC for making this very difficult to achieve...

btw mark the email you forwarded me didn't have the attachment, that's one thing I've noticed with m2w if you forward an email it doesnt send the attachment with it

Sleuth's fix was to regain the button functionality of the PTT button...aka button 5...not the PTT service.

Is there somewhere, where I can get some of the new apps for the new cingular rom 8525 just released on my wm6 custel 1.2?

theres a cab for them in my 1.2 thread in the 2nd post, CV doesn't work though, I haven't had a chance to fix it. I've heard if you install original real player after installing the cab in my 2nd post it will work.

to get PTT to function in WM6 you need to replace the RIL dll's, although its not hard the dll's have been changed and API's have been added.... still working on it

yes, the ril's are very important!!! Just gotta make that button work....

I'm back from MEDC with the new WM6 SDK's in hand. I'll see if I can get the button shim done next week.

Serious need for a working Internet Sharing cab!!

There are some Mad Genius in this forum, I am amazed at the things you come up with and how quickly you get it stable. I have searched, pleaded, and researched to get a working Internet Sharing cab.
I am listing the existing cabs by Duttythroy, Shamanix, and myself.
I already know a lot of roms exist with Internet Sharing include, but not to offend any of the existing rom makers, you guys are doing an exceptional job. But as of today December 10, 2007, Schap's 4.01 Lite is the most responsive and stable rom available for the Hermes. The only reason I have not stuck with it, is because I need Internet Sharing, if you ever use the Hermes on a 3G network as a modem you will be impressed with its constant rate, no need for a Network Card.
Thanks Shamanix for all the work you put in trying to get this to work. Duttythroy was almost there as well.
I will definitely have a nice donation for the person that can finally fix this issue.

If you are going to make a recommendation, please make the best recommendation. If I were going to do a Full Rom it would be Schap's 4.01 Full, if I wanted his latest I would go with 4.22. The reason for Schap's 4.01 Lite, I don't need nor use all the things in the Full Rom and I need the space to install the programs that I do use. In my and a lot of others opinion, Schap's 4.01 and Shamanix Grass 1.13 are the best roms currently available for the Hermes.

I've had a hell of a time trying to get Internet Sharing back into a ROM that removed it (honestly, why the **** would cooks do that?). Adding all the IS files and the registry entries from the package .rgu file isn't enough. Something else seems to be missing. Oh bother. I guess I'll check the dependencies myself...

try shamanix 2.0! internet sharing works and i too load alot of programs on my rom so i need lots of storage. theres plenty left and he managed to strip out just the right programs

Internet Sharing Cabs
Here are two cab files that may allow Internet Sharing to be installed on a device that it was not originally build with.
You'll need to run cab 1 first, reset, then run 2. If all is well and correct, you'll have internet sharing working.
If not - back to the drawing board.
Edit- back to the drawing board. I'll post the new cabs after I reflash my cell and do some more work.

I found this combination would allow it to work on my phone after installation - even though it's already in place. I'll go ahead and strip it out of my rom and keep at it. I know it's close.

exactly what are the errors? I'd need to know to figure out why it can't be installed as cab. Sorry, the cab was not tested as my rom already has IS cooked into it.

the cab installs just fine but when trying to make a connection via usb with IS it fails (connection error or smth)

The bubble says: "Cannot connect for unknown reason"

any progress? anyone?
I'm still digging around.
I know schaps will be including it in 4.30 Lite.
I still would like to get a working solution, cab or otherwise.
