active sync - outlook help please - P3300, MDA Compact III General

morning peoples,
when I first got my orbit a few months ago I ran the set-up files etc and selected NOT to sync with outlook. I think at the time I was running outlook 2000.
I recently upgraded to outlook 2003 and have now decided that I would like to sync my email with my orbit.
but..when I tried, I got the following message
Cannot synchronise with the Outlook profile you are using because a different profile was previously set up or the profile is password protected. Please open Outlook using the appropriate profile.
Support Code:8503001f
can anyone tell me what to do here? should I run the orbit installer CD again and this time select to sync with outlook? I don't want it to install it's own version of outlook (the one that comes on the CD).
any other suggestions?
many thanks

apologies...all sorted thanks....delete profile and create a new one.
now if I could just get SPB diary to function properly!!

Sync Tasks and Notes!!

Does anyone know how to sync tasks and notes on the Xda III...??
Any help would be more than appreciated...
go into activesync on the pc
go into the tools menu
pick options
look if tasks and notes are checked
[Yes - but I need to do this via Exchange Active Sync (or server ActiveSync) and as such you dont have the options availible on the PC.
Hi!
You can't sync Lotus and your PDA with just activesync.
You need activesync and software like EasySync or "Kadenza".

I think The original poster was referring to the notes section within an Outlook Mailbox and not the Lotus notes product itself.
If I'm wrong, I stand corrected though!
Ohh ohh sorry!
(Maby this is his next step )
Maybe!!
I had looked at a Lotus Notes sync product, but as I've now left that company and am using Exchange only, I'm happy to stick with that i've got.
It was the outlook notes feature - i guess no one has any advice..??
If you're syncing with a PC that has outlook on it, that is connected to your exchange server, then it implies you can sync to the local PC's copy of your notes/tasks.
Specifically on notes, here's a screenshot out of my manual. They get synched too your Notes software on PPC.
Sync Lotus Notes and PDA
I'm using Notes / PPC (Ipag 6340). I've tried several packages but the best and most "transparent" is Cadenza Commontime - Mnotes which proivdes full sync of mail, folders, calendar and tasks.
They've got a trial version you can check out on www.commontime.com
Good luck !

Exchange Server Account AND outlook sync possible?

I have a privately owned Qtek 9000 using the latest Imate Rom.
I have my personal email (from my home desktop) synced to the Pocket PC Partnership.
My organisation runs exchange server 2003 SP2 and I would ideally want to us push email to sync my business emails to my device, but keep the personal emails seperately.
I know Active Sync states that you can only sync one set of email accounts, but when I set up a partnership with my work pc the "sysnc with 'exchange' directly" option is offered. I have thus far declined this offer as I want to keep my personal mail sync.
Does the restriction on only syncing one email account apply to the scenario above?
Thanks
Hi Steven,
I think with the current version of ActivesSnc we are limited to only syncing one account at a time (either via Exchange or PC). I've tried a bunch of different options, but doesnt work with exchange.
The way I got it to work, is set up a new account with POP settings in the WM5 device, but this by passes activesync completely...
Good idea, I hadn't thought of that.
Thanks

Not syncing contacts

As you may have seen in my other threads I have updated to WM6 on my O2 XDA Orbit. I'm experiencing a number of problems and have just noticed another which I thought deserved its own thread.
I am trying to copy all my contacts to my computer (Outlook 2007 on Vista) using the Sync Center. I've never actually done this before so it may be something I'm doing wrong - please forgive any stupid questions. Anyway, I have told it to sync contacts between my computer and my phone but this just doesn't happen - no new contacts appear in Outlook. I also created a test contact in Outlook but this does not appear on my device. Also, my calendar isn't synchronised either.
I have also tried syncing on my XP machine (also Outlook 2007) and it also doesn't work. That's using ActiveSync 4.5.
Is there a step of setup that I have missed? This is partly to do with attempting to solve one of my other problems and partly just because I want to keep backups that are in a readable format (i.e. not just copying PIM.vol).
Bonus question: how can I make it so that the contacts that are saved on my SIM get saved to my device?

alright, i feel pretty newbie haha i i figured it out, so forgot about first post
however, i only have an hotmail email account, how do y sinc this with outlook and my pro2?
might not be possible, so maybe some1 can tell me how to sync my contacts to my outlook?
kind regards
Oh, man. I see you're a total newcomer, welcome to the Windows Mobile world! Your phone will look like complicated at first, but after a couple weeks playing with it, you should be able to start harnessing it's power.
Pocket Outlook is integrated on your phone. The contact tab, calendar, tasks, etc IS pocket Outlook itself.
In order to sync your contacts with windows, you need to have the syncing software installed. It's on your phone's CD. If not, then you can get it from Microsoft:
Windows XP and earlier, use Activesync.
Windows Vista, Seven, use Windows Mobile Device Center.
After the syncing software is installed, just plug in your phone, select activesync, and follow the instructions on-screen.
To sync your hotmail account directly to your phone, you can use Windows Live (add it to the program tabs) and then sign-in. If you want it directly in outlook PC, then search for the Outlook Connector.
For hotmail; go to the TF3D--> Settings--> email setup menu and enter your details as prompted; it will automatically create a hotmail connection file for you

Sync Outlook calendar on 2.1 ROM

Hi,
I'm currently using MCR 3.2.
I must admit : I'm a flash addict.
I tested a lot of ROM. Mainly 2.1.
The only thing that prevent me to switch to 2.1 as daily ROM is because I use HTC Sync to add my work calendar to my Hero. Is there a 2.1 ROM with HTC Sync or another way to do add my Outlook calendar to my hero without merging it to my google one ?
Thx to readind me.
Mik-
Hmmm..........i re-read the last part of your question and deleted my answer.
Exactly the same for me. I am using CKdroid and it is perfect apart from the fact that I cant sync to outlook as there is no HTC sync.
I'm in the same boat - using CKdroid (great ROM) but there's no way to sync to Exchange calendar. I use Gmail (sync's fine) and Google Apps (Activesync) and the 2nd one is not longer possible to sync. Maddening, and counter-intuitive, to remove something that was there in a lower version of the software. Even worse when you think the iPWN gets to sync multiple Gmail/GApps calendars right out of the box..!
Any ideas, anyone?
I wonder if this the same issue I am experiencing.
HTC Sync works well enough to synchronise applications, but contacts only lists "Windows Contacts" - no option for Outlook. Calendar/notes/tasks isn't an option at all.
For the record, I am running VillianROM 1.2.1, an although 2.0 is available as of this morning, nothing in the changelog addresses the problem and I haven't tested this yet. I am running the Outlook 2010 beta but have read about the same problems with Outlook 2007.
htc snyc für 2.01 or 2.1 roms needed
hi to alll!
this is the same problem a face with ALL new roms! there no chance to sync outlook (contacts, calender, notes,...) with htc sync!
htc sync does not recognaice the device (HTC HERO)
i am also lokking for some "easy" solution!
i dont like to sync outlook to gmail and then to htc hero!
thx for advice!

I have had a read through the forums and info about the software and this seems to only cover media, rather than outlook calendar and contacts. Have you tried this?
I have flashed my phone rom with MoDaCo 3.1 (Android 1.5) and HTC Sync still doesn't list Outlook as an option, so I guess this is probably an issue with the HTC Sync software itself.
Update: Android 2.1 does have something to do with the problem I think. I needed to unplug and plug the device into USB a few times before HTC Sync forgot about the limitations of the last ROM and recognised it as a new device.
I'm running villian 2.0.1 and while I sync my outlook through exchange if you use USB to PC there is an option to run HTC sync.
My laptop recognises my phone when i choose HTC sync connection but I can't confirm if outlook sync works that way as i don't use outlook on this laptop.
If i go to sync manager it asks me to set up outlook so it all seems to be communicating fine. Maybe someone who uses outlook and villian 2.0.1 can test it out.
