Could we have a forum for the Vox? - About xda-developers.com

Please!
Vox (HTC S710) is a new smartphone and I just ordered one.

+1 (my one is the SPV E650)

Hi, I would be interested in a forum for the htc s710 too!

I would like that too, got my s710 yesterday
btw, did you get a pouch for yours? The manual says there should be one but my vendor say that's an error in the manual.

I didnt get mine,
does voip work on the vox?

Yes i use Skype : it runs well.

what I mean is the in-built voip/sip module?
not voip with additional third-party software.

skype is using (as far as i know) their own "SIP" protocol which is not compatible with the SIP like for example used with asterisk or other open source sip servers.
I was wondering if the in-build voip module in windows mobile 6 is running on vox and maybe even if it could be used with asterisk SIP Server?
sorry for the confusion.

I just got my vox today (HTC S710) its pretty amazing. Yeh I'd like to get voip working too but I fear it might only work on pocket pcs. One thing that is slightly bugging me is when you go in landscape the screen gets a bit blurry because the cleartype isn't designed for horizontal pixels.

Could you please please check if:
>the Internet Calling today item is available as well as the following files in the \Windows directory:
>
> *
> * ipdialplan.xml
> * dnsapi.dll
> * voipphonecanvas.dll
> * rtcdll.dll
Internet Calling is an integral part of WM6 and should be there.
Im going to order a vox on monday, its essential for me that it has voip integrated.

No it doesn't have any of those files. Perhaps they can be added in a similar way to how they can be added to the cooked wm6 roms for the hermes when the chefs removed voip because they thought it wasnt working.

Right, who do we PM to get them to make a forum?
Look, I even made a wiki page
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Vox

thanks for the fast answer.
a Vox forum would be nice, we need to find out how to add voip functionality, it must work somehow and it should be easy, because there is a hp smartphone based on windows mobile standard upcomming, which has voip running:
here is the article:

Hi i start a little thread :

I informed the admins of the need of a Vox forum.
Hopefully Flar will create it for you soon.

Released:
Windows Mobile "XDA Live v0.20"
for HTC Hermes
Now I present you with Version 0.20 of XDA Live!
Click here for Images of all the Themes I have collected. I've decided that instead of embedding them all, I will remove all but the default Crossbow Theme and add the Aero Theme. The Themes Page is being updated to allow you to click on the image to download the Theme.
I've received several requests for a PayPal link to donate in support of my efforts so I finally broke down and did it. If you go to the page with the themes (use the link above) at the bottom there is a PayPal Link. Thanks in advance to anyone who contributes and don't forget please send to XDA-Developers.com first.
WMXL v0.20 no longer uses the Vanilla Rom as it's base. I have been given the okay to release using my Original Base Rom.

Please let's keep this thread clean. This will aide in getting things fixed/added as quickly as possible.
If you just want to chatter go to one of the other threads for this Rom (see the end of the FAQ a few posts down). I will leave only one thread sticky but it will always contain links to all "Official" Threads for the Rom.

Official FAQ...
Q: How do I install it.
A: The self extracting archive will run the RUU after it extracts all files. I used The XDA RUU which was modified to push the Des Bootloader to your device. This Installer does not require your device to be SuperCID and should work with all bootloader versions. This installer only has a HTC Splash Screen and the OS, No radio or Ext_ROM.
Q: When I try to flash this Rom I get "Error 260: Update Error" why can't I flash this?
A: Remove you Security Pin,
Q: Will WMXL (Windows Mobile XDA Live) fix my corrupted radio bootloader or otherwise bricked Hermes?
A: If the other tools here can't do it then don't bet the farm on WMXL doing it. The Flashing tools are still the same, no magic pill here.
Q: If I upgrade to WMXL can I downgrade to an official Rom from my carrier?
A: Of course you can. WMXL DOES NOT HAVE A RADIO ROM so your Radio & Radio BootLoader are not touched. If you are not SuperCID you can use a Rom from your carrier to downgrade or you can use SSPL.
Q: What will happen to my Extended Rom when I flash WMXL?
A: Nothing. There is no Extended Rom included.
Q: Can you make it in German/French/Italian/Klingon for me?
A: The short answer is NO. I'm focusing on the OS, changing languages and localization are not something I want the delve into. Any replacement keyboard program for WM5 ought to work in WM6, best I can say is try what you're currently using the worst that will happen is you'll lose a few hours of time and maybe have to hard reset. For OS localization to a different language I'm sure some of the WM5 techniques will work but WM6 has different support for OS Language. Personally I'd either wait until MS releases Language Packs or someone takes an interest and figures this out so we can localize at hard reset.
Q: Kyphur you are such a Guru, how can I be like you?
A: Remember that my head is in the clouds on this one only because I'm standing on the shoulders' of giants. This project owes it's very existence to many other contributers here and they deserve as much if not more of the cudos than I do. The is a team effort, please support everyone who made this possible. (See my post here). I have been a member her for only 15 months give or take but I have spent more time reading than doing or posting.
Q: Can you release Cab file updates instead of cooking new Roms to flash?
A: I will do both. For example there were WMXL Update Cabs for Internet Calling and Windows Live! Mobile (for example). Some of these features will get embedded into the next release. I'm doing this to save you from having to flash you device as often as I am. Remember the Cab files will consume Program Memory whereas the new Rom releases will not.
Q: If you embed a program into the Rom how can I remove it (to save memory).
A: You can't remove files that are in the Rom. You can remove the Shortcuts to the programs. If you don't want the program simply ignore it and it will not harm you.
Q: Will you still release the scripts?
A: With the sudden release of several "Rom Kitchens" for the Hermes, my scripts are actually the hard way to do things. I will continue to use them as it allows me to easily switch from one Base ROm to another without much extra work. I would recommend that other wanting to cook Rom use one of the Rom Kitchens. Personally I will be experimenting with Olipro's as some of his earlier works have made WMXL possible. After WMXL v0.20 is released I will release a "Clean WM6 Rom" which will make a good base for other Rom Chefs. It will not include any of the additional progroms I embed but will have all of the core stuff (like Office Mobile).
Q: Will you still release a version based on the original Rom (from your unnamed source).
A: WMXL v0.20 uses my original Base Rom. Please note that the Vanilla Rom is derived from the same Base Rom as I have been using. The big difference is that I spent a lot of time sifting through the Rom files sorting what to delete whereas the Vanilla Rom, while good, has had a little too much trimmed off in some areas while junk has been left standing in others. Another difference is that I have changed a few files in WMXL v0.20 so that it can support Cingular's PTT.
Q: Why do my recent programs keep disappearing on every reset?
A: That is StartClean. If you don't want this then simply delete the shortcut from your Startup Folder.
Q: I have more questions...
A: This Thread is for misc duscussions.
...
Credits...
This Rom really is a group effort.
Without pof & team unlocking I never would have even gone looking for the base Rom.
aChef by aklok_hk is doing the heavy lifting.
Sleuth255, ShogunMark, Faria ViJay555, Bepe, Maimach have all been instrumental either directly or indirectly in this project.
Des and the SSPL was another step that got me to this point.
Olipro's RUU Workshop was used to make the installer package.
Of course there are all of the guys who have been doing this before I bought my first PPC Phone, they blazed the trail I simply walk behind them.
baudy2 for the OS version edit, wpbear for the Stand-alone Cyberon Voice Dialer CAB, coeptum for the regedit to fix the E/G indicator, schriss for pointing out that WM6 used an older Video Driver, shafez for providing the MSN Files.
Of course there is my team of beta testers.
Finally, I can't forget my unnamed source. They took a big change passing this along to me. Even though this relase is built on the Vanilla Rom, without that trust I wouldn't have been able to spend that previous week cooking with a WM6 Rom Image.
If I missed someone I apologize, just PM me and I'll update the list.

Thanks Kyphur and the TEAM for this great release,
As I asked before, Is there a need for a direct mirror link?
So far so good, except GPRS....
Breaks every 3-4 min and can reconnect only after soft reset.
Thanks a lot again.

2.06.502.3
Any mirrors are welcome...
I've have GPRS connected since my last flash (about 90 minutes) without dropping the connection. I use HTweakC to Enable CPRS/G3 Auto Attach" and "Set Connection AlwaysOn".
Are you installing any Cingular Cabs?
Are you enabling HSDPA?

BBConnect
Thanks also for this release guys.
Installed this looking forward to the BBConnect fix, but hitting an issue. I run v 2.1.2.52 and whilst I can install and run the software, it isn't pulling down email. I notice that the wireless synch box is never ticked when installed, yet despite clicking this - and attempting to force a synch it doesn't work.
Any suggestions??
Thanks in advance....

Only BBConnect v 2.1.2.31 works under this version.
Please be more specific, are you receiving an error? Explain exactly the behavior you are observing.
Also, everyone please post which point version your are running (.0 = no PDF, .1= Adobe Acrobat PDF) when reporting an issue.

Balck 2.0 has it built in already and there are cab dile for install under WM^ not sure about WM5. Search and ye shall find.
No Native Support for WM5 . WM6 Thread for VOIP and how to make it work are here:
{SOLVED} How to configure VoIP/SIP client in WM6.
.

Which WM6 ROM for VOIP/SIP

Hello guys
I'll be the first to admit this is a newbie question, but I don't have the energy to try every ROM and every SIP solution, can someone recommend a WM6 SIP solution thats working for them, ideally I want to use the built in WM6 SIP system as an additional app is just a bit clumsy.
Cheers, this information is invaluable for a lot of people I imagine, I want to go install AX3Ls but it mentions it doens't do SIP.
Thanks again
Ed
With a 30 secs search, you would have found (among others) this, for the native SIP capabiliy:

For an external, more complete and stable application, try Sjphone -> google

This is just a voip config tool, package is missing over there.
And even if this guy is at his first post, his question is a good question and I can not answer: I don't know any rom for trinity with a serious voip capability.
Ciao
Is the VOIP support built into every build of WM6 then? You just need to install a cab and config tool to get it up and running?
I'd really like to here peoples experiences, I'm not aiming for anything to adventurous just want it to hook up to a voip service when it sees my wifi.
Cheers

I'm still using fring for voip calls because with trinity and wm6 there is a problem with a driver. But some people say voip is fully functional for them.. but as to me they don't really use it.
Voip support in built into wm6, but OEM have to provide their drivers and dopod didn't released it.

The package of dll etc. is already present on wm6. Most of the people who dont see it is because they haven't activated their explorer to see all files. But if you think it's necessary for some ROM, not the Dopod one I can confirm, the wm6VoIP.cab package is everywhere on the forum...
Nobody said his question was bad or wrong, I just said that a universal config tool and feature package was available on the forum, and findable after a quick search.
As far as which ROM is best for VoIP, I think nobody has tried the hundred of ROM available to give an objective and comprehensive answer.
As far as I am concerned, I tried VoIP on only one ROM, the dopod one. It works not too bad, but just as a complementary feature as he said himself.
Third party's sofware with all the complete package and optimisation will always works better. That's why I suggested Sjphone...
Anything wrong with me answering that?
I'm using fring as well at the moment. It's pretty cool. Works with skype too!
I've heard that Fring wasn't working on Trinity, due to mic problems.
Can you confirm that the other person can hear you well, when calling landlines with Fring?
(using Fring SIP features)

Yeah, I see that. But all I can say is that, once installed, when I browse the windows main directory, I can find all the files listed as necessary for the native SIP feature to work.
ipdialplan.xml
dnsapi.dll
voipphonecanvas.dll
rtcdll.dll
Dopod SEA inside
But that's not the point anyway, as I said, there are something like 10 differents threads that includes the pack wm6voip.cab for those who don't have the sip files natively. And it's findable with a 30 secs search...
But u'll need also the configuration tool to set up your sip account.

It is still a beta I think but seem to work, even if it is very slow especially if you have a lot of contacts to import. But sjphone doesn't have this feature.
Both (fring and sjphone) lacks of dialplan and number rewriting rules.
I think you have installed vm6voip in your dopod, so you can find voip files. If we had a really working rtcdll.dll for trinity we shouldn't use such programs for internet telephony. If you think I'm wrong, please post your rtcdll.dll so I can check version and functions.
As to me Dopod, as a gsm carrier, didn't provide this package for customers. I hope in the future htc wwe release it will be present.

I've never said native SIP was working great on Trinity, I've just said the contrary: as the first poster of the thread stated, it can only be an alternative solution, but the third parties software (with all features AND optimizations included will always work better)
The reason is very simple:
It's not only a matter of rtcdll, it has more to do with the settings, specially the codecs one.
It is possible to fix though, but then It requires many additional tweaks, and I don't think it's worth the effort, since the third parties sofwares are there and working.
P.S.: I don't understand why you are so insistant on one file...
there are 4 of them dedicated to native SIP service. As I said, I think I had them all, before installing wm6voip.cab patches.
But the point is for any one missing one of them, or leazy to check, there are 10 wm6voip.cab on this forum to get them all installed in one click.
As I stated before: wm6voip.cab, and several SIP configuration tools are available on the forum.
After trying some of them, I like the shap's one and suggested it to the author of the thread.
But I confirm: none of them as perfect-already-ready-sound-quality
U need to tweak your codecs, according to your SIP provider requirements.

I don't think so.
For having tried both, I can confirm Fring do have number rewriting rules. It works great.
(my sip provider requires the numbers to start with 00. My contacts are recorded with + not 00.
Therefore, when I use the regular dialpad and native SIP features, it gives me an error.
But when I use Fring, it convert the numbers automatically, and and I can call through.
My only concern with Fring, was to make sure that the other person can hear me when I use the SIP features.
I don't have the confirmation. When I use the test call feature, It doesn't seem to hear me and cannot record my voice.
Since my account is not credited (big bug with the provider console on the net) I can't make sure about it.
Except if there is someone using voipbdiscount wanting to test.
Bye
I found that fring works fine. I haven't tried sip through it as yet but the fring test call worked fine (test call is just like the Skype test call).
It is pretty easy to download and test it anyway. Very easy to set up. I tried some other sip software recently and found them all far too complex to get up and running.
Thanks for the info.
I may try again and see whether or not the test-call feature can record my voice this time.
Yeah, Fring is simple to set up and it's great to have msn/skype/and sip provider in the same interface.
I strongly disagree that the Trinity problem is codec related. I tried different VOIP solutions with 4 SIP providers and NONE of them gave me reliable results.
I still hope the final HTC WM6 will include proper VOIP since I seriously doubt your "its the codec's fault"-story.

Sorry but inside the official european tytn wm6 there is no voip support.
As tytn and trin are brother I dubt voip will be supported on an official htc european rom, if any...
As to me, from past investigations, the problem is on an audio driver that can not access the system speaker, but the system modify itself after first use and I cant understand why...
I've found some device identifier in the registry under RTC, seem to work only by earpiece and locks if I try to use a bt earpiece..
Can't remember anything else, and I haven't enough time to investigate more...

[REPOSITORY] OEM Packages for Use with "BuildOS" by Bepe

Okay guys, I didn't find a thread that has collected these so here goes.
If there is a thread and I missed, please direct me there and I will remove this thread and move it's contents over.
There are only 2 rules in this thread:
1. No WAREZ... Shareware/Freeware or add-ons distributed without cost by the developer only.
2. This is a repository, not a Q & A. Post your packages with clear descriptions and be sure they actually work (as in you have personally used and confirmed proper operation of them).
Note these will work with any Rom Kitchen Setup that uses Bepe's CreateOS Utility. All you need to do is unzip the package into the OEM Folder and it will now be displayed on the Utility.
1-Calc Lite (Freeware) & ActiveSync Remote Display
ActiveSync Remote Display is the PPC Device Side Component that allow you to Remote to your PPC when you're conntected via Active Sync. This is the later version (v2.03)
1-Calc Lite is the Freeware version of OmegaOne's PPC Calculator Program. I prefer this to the OEM Calculator as it has more functions.
Enable HSDPA Icon This changes the [3G] Icon to [H] when there is an active HSDPA Data Session.
Hey kyphur - i've been thinking of the same idea - and perhaps all the proven to work oem's can be uploaded to a oem section of the ftp. I say proven because quite a few oem's have registry keys, files missing etc...

Made this this morning waiting for Soccer AM to start.
MMS & GPRS work fine for me.
Doesn't include an EXEC command to run a .tsk today screen file like most preconfig OEMs do because I don't know what your you've included in your setup.
If you want to add that, just edit Preconfig.txt to include the line somewhere above 'LOCK:disabled' -

sorry to be off-track for a second, but Kyphur .. is that really you? Welcome back! We have missed you these many months since you started us all off with the first XDA WM 6 ROM on this site! I realize you have been back for a bit (after a little searching) but I just realized it myself this am.
Post by developer or anyone?
Hi Kyphur!!! Welcome back!!!
Great idea!!! I have my own personal repository, but I am not sure if I should be posting packages for which the developer is around and may have evolved/improved/updated them. It would be sort of like stealing their thunder
Please let me know if something is needed and if I have it, I'd be happy to upload if the original devs agree with this.
Phone alarm is a paid for bit of software, but you can download the trial from the web site. I wish to package this (and add my serial). I do not see this as contrary to the rules of the first post, but would like to check.
Have had problems trying to package it, so would appreciate it if anyone else has managed it could give me some tips.... (if someone has done it it will save me ages of comparing registry changes etc)
Here are some new
Here are the new addons I built tonight:
-The well knows network wizard
-A newer version of HTC Audio Manager (Black skin)
-pbar (really great task manager)
-Reg tweak that remove the battery and comm mgr icon located at the bottom of the today screen
-New Windows Live Messenger build 1600
Enjoy
Package ok so far; my kitchen went crazy but those *should* be fine
Keyboard Layout TyTn
also for those people with Vario 2's etc ("English" keyboards)
Keyboard Layout 8525
for Cingular keyboards
Task Manager
slightly amended from the "standard" as it includes shortcuts for Reset, Regedit and Suspend
The Keyboard Layouts were made by Matt_Kr over at the Pandora project, and the Task Manager was amended by me to include the icons from VP3G's ROM. Thanks guys, and ALL credit to original authors.

Thanks for this thread!
MODERATOR EDIT: Content removed
Including your paid for serial number would make it Warez. If you package the latest version without a serial number then you are okay.

Here is the latest build of MSN Messenger
Thanks to TNT for this one!
Esmertec Jbed Midlet Manager
Here is Esmertec Jbed 20070802.2.2 provided by Cloudyfa. This version is not time-bombed and will run Opera Mini 4 beta2 smoothly in full screen mode (unlike the Intent midlet manger).

[UPDATE 28/07/2008] ITA cooked ROM - fast and energy saving

I just reached my goal to cook a personal ROM, with energy saving and speed in mind. I'm using it for a couple of week without any problems
If anyone are interested in it, i will share it with you.
i'm not interested in last build/ last software version for now, but simply a fast, powerful and energy saver italian ROM.
My second goal is to create a "community ROM" with help from italian people with all software WE need. I think WE can do it!
Version rules:
all stable release will have "pair" number (I.E.: 0.4, 0.6 0.8, and eventually with some patch similar to "0.4.1", "0.4.2")
unstable, devel branch will not be released, but will have unpair version number (I.E. 0.3, 0.5. 0.7)
Developement Branch: V0.5 "Way to Home"
Improvements:
RSS Hub does not uses internal storage as i say, but still use extended 4GB drive. this may be be fixed now.
Updated TF3D Config 0.6.6 (thanks to sushilange)
Suggestion:
Internet Sharing may be added (wait for some other user request)
....
Post your whishlist

current stage: V0.4a "RED FLAG"
UPDATE: V 0.4.2 "GANDALF" (same as RED FLAG plus Internet Sharing and windows Live)
changelog from V0.3:
1) resolved issue N.3. now Diamond reboot itself after customization tasks.
2) Added "chiara" and "Roberto" TomTom voices. previously you are required to download from internet.
3) changed RSS default feed to RSShub to some italian intersting feed (trepubblica.it, beppegrillo.it, punto-informatico, Byoblu blog)
4) Rss Hub now store channel data in internal memory (\\program Files\RSS Hub\Channeldata) so you are able to connect Diamond as storage device to your PC with no more error message
5) Removed Sim Access via Bluetooth (anyone with a bluetooth CAR with support for it?)
N.B.: to help me with test, please use this rom without any system/registry/config/tweaks modification for at least 1-2 days.
also please post your personal changes so i may add in a future release.
If you want to try RSS hub modification, pleae backup and remove your previous channel data from \\memorizzazione interna\program files\RSS Hub
You may want to use another trick to increase battery life:
Go to Control panel -> System -> Battery -> backlight. disable auto, then decrease value when not connected.
(display uses from 40 to 70% of energy)
use Shapss Advanced Config to enable all minor Powersaving tweaks
internal, not relased V0.3
OS: Windows mobile 6.1 CE 5.2.19591 Build 19591.1.1.6
Sotware removed:
Youtube
GoogleMaps
WindowsLive
(because there is no internet flat rate for mobile users in italy)
VolumeControl
VoiceRecorder
VoiceSpeedDial
AdobePDF
AudioBooster
LockSreamDRM
WelcomeCenter
AutoUpdate
OneNote
InternetSharng
SQM
Costomer Satisfaction
All image and video sample
Software added in ROM:
total Commander with italian language
WiFiFoFum
Shapss Advanced Config
Opera 9 Italian
Diamond TF3D Config Setup
TomTom 7.450 black edition (you must buy and activate maps from tomtom site, i do not support any kind of piracy)
Registry Tweaks:
Disabled "Receive all Beam" by default
Disabled all Security warnings concerning certificates when run an unsigned apps
Enabled/Increased Filesystem Cache
Disabled SMS threading view (you can enable it via registry)
HTC album does not close but minimized when tap "X"
More Camera mode enabled (sport - GPS and contiuous)
PagePool 8MB
Known issue:
1) There is a "customer satisfaction" links in control panel (but obviously it does not work)
2) I can't integrate WOW_HD for now, because i does not load the driver. so you need to install as a separate CABS
3) After first reboot, some HTC customization task start. When finished, you will see a black, empty today screen. you need a manual soft reset to start manila
Thanks to
Olinex for HardSPL
Alex for its chitchen kit (some things was very useful!!)
Anyone who posted in Diamond tweaks Thread
And anyone who want to help me with suggestion about software to ADD or REMOVE

that's the post i want to see!!
There is some reason:
In first, this first release is cooked for myself, and i don't use internet sharing.
In second, there is NO internet flat rate in italy, and browsing using mobile connection wase too expensive. (are you italian.. isn't it? you know..)
In italy, we can buy 500/600MB of traffic for about 20€. more traffic cost about 0,6 €cent every KB with all operators.
otherwise, you may buy traffic by a time basis, from 20 to 25 € for 100 hours, in 10 minutes step (updating your RSS feed in 10 seconds costs 15 min, for example).
exceeded 100h traffic cost 0,6 €cent/KB with all operators.
But with suggestion like your, and if other users need it, i will add in the next release.
Of course, you may suggest an additional software list to remove...
For example, probably most users does not use MP3trimmer, but need Internet Sharing

you are right about the cost... but... i really need internet sharing , thnx for add it in the next release
I would buy HTC Diamond and I'm very glad all people like nushuth that work on italian ROM. Thanks!
Italy operators offer a lot of internet flat... with my Tutto60 i'm happy.
BTW, i don't understand why you removed WLM but included some apps (like TT7, TCommander, ecc) that can easely work if installed on HD.
However, thanks 4 your work, i'll give it a try on its 2nd release., i really need IS since I don't have an internet connection in my home.

Simple:
there is 10 people who need TT, for 1 people who need internet sharing.
i'ts true, TT can be installed via CAB.. but WMWifiRouter can be installed too. it works better than internet sharing and have more options. Anyway, i am cooking same ROM for you with ICS included, called "0.4.2"
About internet flat rates...
you mean "TIM tutto compreso 60"?
if so, it's not a flat rate but only 600MB /month.
as i say, no italian operators have a REAL flat rate. with iphone you ccould have a maximum of 5GB /month with about 200€ per month. this is the maximum offered in italy. but tis is NOT a real flat, 24h24 no traffic limit.
Also i use the internet sharing with my laptop to visit some web pages
3€/month for a bonus of 750€ @ 0,003€/Kb with Wind

Wind is the cheapest operators, for internet. but as you say, is not a real flat.
In the past wind offered a real flat with GPRS connection... but not now.
if someone need an ADSL without phone line (not mobile.. a real flat ADSL) i suggest NGI.it
help me please... this rom have block my diamond..
now it's in blot on sturt up
