WM6 not remebering homescreen settings - HTC Excalibur

Anybody else have the problem where WM6 keeps reverting back to the original hoemscreen on bootup?
I've been trying to get it to use the Myphone screen layout, but it keeps goign back to the ugly blue one.

I have the same exact problem, not sure if there's a fix.

the fix is definately posted here.
just delete or rename the default homescreen and your good to go.
its also in the registry somewhere if you care to hunt it down.

I deleted the default home screen, but it just goes to another screen, not the one I choose to be my home screen. If anyone knows a link to the fix I'd appreciate it.

Same here.
Thanks

They have a service running at boot up called My5Service - this beast is overwriting stuff and enforcing pink settings again..
Search for My5.. in registry and overwrite f.e. the Homescreen setting. The service will then put that theme on every boot.
Wehenever the HTC WM6 version is ready - pls post that, I hate this T-Mobile "§$&%§%&//&()!

As far as I know my faves settings have not really been covered.
Funny I just started my faves today and am researching this problem right now.
deleting the value causes the phone to first try and load my faves and then give up and load the last used homescreen. Renaming to the current homescreen works but then you have to change it when you change your homescreen. ugh.
there has to be a setting somewhere to change the default to off but so far I have not found it.

Dash Today screen and plugins

I upgraded my Dash to WM6 via T-mobile's official rom. Everything seems to work fine, and I cannot yet say anything about whether or not I like it more than wm5 or anything like that, however I do have a few questions.
Whenever I set my homescreen, it sets up just fine, but when I reboot the phone, it comes up with the homescreen I set up, but then it reverts back to the T-mobile default every time after about 30 seconds... Anyone else experiencing this problem? I tried reflashing to no avail. Is there something in startup that reapplies the default homescreen?
Also, is there a list of available plugins I can put into my custom homescreen? I like the new music playing doohickey, and I also like the live search plugin as well.
I have been having the same problem..... I would like a nice clean homescreen with the music plugin..... anyone?
You just need to delete or change the file name of the default screens in Application Data\Home

Sorry, but how do you do that? I looked into Application Data/Home and did not find a file name call "default screen" Which xml or file should I be looking for?
To Keep The Home Screen You Want!
The best fix for this is move the My5MgsCenter folder from the \Windows\StartUp folder to the \Windows\ folder. This way, you retain all your home screens but when you reboot your device only the home screen you want will appear every time you reboot your device.!

Settings change from WM5 to WM6

Hi Everyone,
I upgraded to the O2 WM6 ROM last night and theres a few things I cant do that I could on WM5 and was wondering if someone could tell me how.
1. On the desktop i cant get the two buttons at the bottom to change from Calender on the left and contacts on the right.
2. The running problems icon has gone from the start menu options and I cant find it anywhere
I know these are trivial but you know what its like when you set something up the way you want and get use to it and then its taken away.
Cheers everyone.

Hi,
1. Just copy the file into the windows folder, do a soft reset, and go to start\settings\system... you will find the solution to remap the softkeys...
View attachment SoftKeyApplet.zip
2. Install this program. It will make an icon to the top right of the today screen. By this icon you can manage your running programs.
View attachment X-Button-1.5.zip
Cheers.
Cheers zsitvayb, worked a treat.
Is there a way to remove the battery indicator from the bottom right corner of the desktop next to the comm manager. Im using batterystatus which is more accurate so i have no need for it

Yes, that's possible. You shold do some registry tweaking... Hereby you can find a descriptipn about the registry tweaking: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_Registry

Not that I know of, but you can replace the soft menu keys on the Today Screen with this...

Need some help... Please

I don't know if this has been asked and answered before, but I need some help please.. Okay you know how on the T-Mobile Dash when you select a program or whatever and when you go back to the homescreen the program is displayed?? Well I was wondering does anyone know how to clear them from there when you are done using it?? Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Also I installed a program and didn't like it so I deleted it but the short cut or whatever was still on my homescreen so I had to reset my phone to get it cleared..
Thanks as always
Doesn't the default homescreen display your most recently used programs? If so, just use other programs until the one in question is pushed off of the list.

I know that, I was wondering if there was something else I could use..
If you never want to see those icons go and edit the home xml. Your home screens are in Application Data/Home (or something like that, I'm not sure). Find the xml file you are currently using as Home screen and edit it on a PC. Remove the snippet of the MRU list.
Sorry I don't know a way to actually clear the list on the go.
(BTW, a quick note: please refrain yourself from using red. It's pretty hard to read.)

No welcomehead.192.png???

I know this isnt per say "Rom Dev" yet but it will be when we can lol.
I recently made a welcomehead.192.png for my phone, installed it only for it to do nothing! Has anyone found the file which represents what was the welcomehead?
StartUpImg_DMDO_000.bmp is the image that appears right after the startup animation just before homescreen boot. It's the only thing I've found so far. I replaced it with a windows phone image instead of at&t worldphone. I think the rest are all part of the StartUpAni_DMDO_000.dll

Ok im going back to b00n school for this one :S.
i opened up the StartUpAni_DMDO_000.dll in a resouce editor and low and behold the animation is just a string of pictures!
This means we can add custom startup animations!
Then the StarUpAni.dll holds the startup sound. (Sry if this is all old info i thought it was big )
But to this conversation the image in question is not in there...
What are you using to take apart the dlls? I tried to do it a month ago using Reflector but kept getting an error message (no cml header or cli header I forget). It was giving me the same error message trying to take apart some taskbars dlls to make one that works for everything including the start icon.
In any event that's excellent news. I'd like to take apart this animated gif in animation shop and use it if possible.

Im using PE Resource Editer or just PE Explorer, then go to view resources and bam lol.
LG doesn't seem to use a welcomehead.192 Since you're on AT&T also you know how after the annoying bars animation with the loud noise and then it goes to a white screen that says AT&T Worldphone? That white worldphone image is the StartUpIMG_DMDO_000.bmp. I used a png file from the link I posted and renamed it to .bmp and replaced it and now it shows the black windows phone logo. I'm going to have to take a look in that dll and see about replacing the startup animations it uses by taking apart some WVGA gifs and replacing the images.
Since you had posted about it on lg-expo and here about taskbars; I think the majority of the files for our taskbar is in the shellres.192.dll (if you wanna dissect that too). I tried replacing the 0409.mui and using icon demarrer to change the start icon like a thread on here said to to change the start icon and it didn't do anything. You've seen the taskbar I use (taachan's dusk) and it changes everything properly but the start icon, however if you look for the dusk taskbar in the Rhodium forums that taskbar changes everything except the antenna bars and the bluetooth icon (it does change the start icon and comes in two flavors, start icon w/text and without). It might be possible to take them both apart and find out what works from one and not the other and make one that will work on our devices as well as figure it out to make other ones.

Yes it appears that they dont use a welcomehead tho the windows image(the red&orange one) has to be coming form somewhere... everything else is coming from the files listed above.
yea i have also been looking into the taskbars ALOT, but i havent found out why yet that the Dusk taskbar works. The reason that the others dont is because our phones phones are using a separate dll(current i cant find it) for the network signal icons. I havent given up yet tho...ill keep looking lol.
I think I had found the orange windows screen one day while going thru the windows folder but don't recall where it was I'll look again when I get some downtime at work.
Welllllllll I found the orange windows logo from the boot-up. It's.....welcomehead.192.png Extremely unamused lol.

just because something cant be overwritten doesnt mean it cant be "moved to the side" aka cab
This is interesting. I tried a cab and it didn't change. I tried it manually and it didn't change. I tried advanced config and changed the picture and it didn't change. I'm wondering if LG uses the same image, but has it located somewhere else on the phone.

how interesting in a very bad way :\
is there a way to just disble the annoying att splash screen?
woodhole's lg expo/iq tweaker has an option to disable the animated opening, but bootup becomes 3x to 4x longer, so it's not really worth it to disable it.

Today Screen & Manila itself.

Hi all,
Question actually 2:
1) I checked but didnt find what I was looking for dont know if it even exists. Is there a standalone program out there that you can install and access from the programs menu so that if for any reason when manila crashes (which happens often) that you can hit start and then tap the icon to re-start manila? Cause many of times Manila will crash or hang and other then powering it off or taking the battery out, you cant restart it.
2) As for the today screen, I dont know thats why I am asking, I was toying with some of the editors posted around for the png and gui, and noticed you can compress alot of the images that appear. My question is, will it make a big impact to how the screen looks meaning jagged edges, ugly etc?, The reason I ask is cause since the today screen has alot going on, and being that manila is sluggish as it is, I was wondering is compressing the images or files, would speed up the loading process and speed up some of the loading from screen to screen.
1. You can use cleanram for this. It will clean you're memory and restart manila. Make sure you don't have manila on you're exception list.
Ive used this before. just saw there was an update thru the program (props for that feature). Just thought there was maybe a simple program that just restarted it. but thanx for the input!
anyone with any ideas for Q2?
Been using the MAX MANILLA rom for about 4 days now. the only issue I've been having is just GUI stuff and txt'n software prob.
EX:
1) the Digital clock will sometimes freeze (no biggy)
2) If I was to send a text on my device to somebody, it wont show up on the screen, I would have to change screens and then go back to my text messages to see it.
3) sometimes the device will show you have a txt when you've already read it.
Same goes for.......if i was to stay in the text messaging program and somebody sends me a text message, I'd have to move to another screen and then come back to the text screen to see it.
Anybody else having this issue?
Update here you guys. I dont know if its the reboot that fixed the txt messaging error or installing the ATT tilt2 keyboard fix.
But now my text messages are working properly. it shows up on the screen as i send it.
Thats great youngWMuser glad you fixed your problem, but it has nothing to do with the topic of the post. If you have issues create a seperate post to solve your issues, Thanx.
lol. sorry. I'm using Manilla and the thread said "today screen and manila itself" haha. That's why i posted on here. And the text problem still is occuring.
Rather than installing a program to take up more space, you could go to Start>Settings>Today, click on the Items tab. De-select Manila (in my case, it's TouchFlo 3D) and hit okay. It will take you back to the Settings page, select Today again and go back to the Items page and re-select Manila. When installing a new TochFlo 3D theme, I do that rather than doing a soft reset. It seems a little quicker to me.
Take a look at this. The "Things you should know" and "History" sections might help.
Just out of curiosity, what versions are your ROM and Manila
JCTerry,
Your right, but in the the 2.5 manila the setting page to get to all settings, still access a manila tab, which is of no use, but you did make me think of another way. Does anyone know what the CPL is to access the all settings page, I could just create a shortcut in the programs menu.
But I am still curious about the compressing of the files for the today screen, has anyone ever tried it?
