Is anyone out there experienced that once upgrade to WM6 on your Dash. The last digit of the IMEI changed.
The last 2 digits dont matter.

It does matter because some software verify the phone's IMEI to complete the registration and once the IMEI changed, the registration code become invalid. Any suggestion?
Oh boya. Well in that case, you're ****ed possibly? Im not sure, that is a good question though. I dont pay for any software Hopefully someone here can help ya out
I believe the last 2 digits do not matter
It is the first 15 that are significant, I could be wrong
Only the first 15 digits are your valid imei #. The other two are something unique to the phone for some reason. If you have software that is licensed on a 17 digit imei #, I'd go back to the author and report it as a defect. If you paid for it, I'd demand they fix it.

Thanks for the input and I had downgrade back to WM5 because T-Zone Winwap is too new the system won't let me login.
For sure, when the official WM6 is available, I will contact the vendor to ask for a fix.

Any one figured this out yet?
Basically the tomtom calculates the device code (I thought this was via imei)
Well since installing black 2 I can not longer use tomtom plus services (speed cams traffic e.t.c)
I can change the device code on there website once every 6 months BUT if the same thing happens with black 3 then It wont work, there is a similar thread I have replied to on the upgrades forum which may be a clue as they had the problem with CID unlocking, my device has had all that dont about 6 months ago many roms and "device names" later (one actual device) it now has it thinking its a new device.
I am guessing this is going to happen with a few other bits of software from what I have read in the searches (opera and a few other similar bits of software).
Why would this happen with these latest wm6 roms not previous wm6 roms.
My main worry is if this happens randomly with every new rom, and Im guessing this may not be isolated to this batch of roms.
Similar thread which may give a clue but thought this was more suited to the wm6 forum after I posted :/ lol

I'm pretty sure that isn't what he is referring to.
It's a unique string that identifies your device.
For example;
With AEButtons and WM5, I had a Device ID that started with D1 C3.... and then moving to WM6 it changed to something like C6 A2...
I was able to activate AEB just fine, it just shows that I have activated 2 devices at AEB's website activation page.

I opened a call at Tomtom for that. I have the same problem. I asked to have a solution of a code based on the hardware and not on the operating system.
The answer: impossible. I must indicate the link of new the ROM and they correct the code.… I did not test yet…
I've run into the same situation with TomTom. It's a bit of a pain. Still working through the issues with them.

I think the API to get the device's IMEI got broken in the latest WM6 builds. I too have the TomTom license problem, and Opera Browser for Mobile is also complaining that the device ID has changed. Prior to upgrading WM6 (LVSW 20070423), Opera Browser would read the IMEI (device ID) correctly. After upgrading, it now reads a completely different number (not even remotely close, for one thing, it is two digits shorter). However, when I look at the IMEI shown in "Device Information", or #*06# from the phone dialpad, it is correct.
In both my cases (TomTom and Opera), I was quickly able to get new license keys from each, but it is still a pain.

Same happened to me with the Hebrew add on. Strange.
Had the same wit Hebrew as well...
Yup, same problem here, I'm with Berdinkerdickle, there is a hex code that you can see with AEB Plus's registration screen that comes from the OS I guess. It changed from stock WM5 to Black 2.0 and now again with 2.5
Slingbox Mobile seems to use it internally to lock it to an individual device. The prog actually logs onto the sling site each time you use it and checks this number against the issued key code, this is independant of user inputted ID name like most progs. If there is a mismatch the program tells you that you have 30 days remaining and counts down till you enter a new code provided by Sling, which means an email conversation with them each time to get a new code.
AEB Plus as noted, shows you the internal code string and has you enter that string into their website to get an activation code. (I'm on my 3rd web re-activation and wondering if AEB has a max cut off number?)
I looked over the thread referenced on the first post and it mentions super CID, I've not done that to mine yet.
The device code is a hex string listed as 7 pairs of numbers in AEB Plus (xx xx xx xx xx xx xx) is this the CID code?? and if it is, is it linked to the OS, uniquely by device?? That doesn't make sense to me.
Same problem for me, with SlingPlayer and a few other applications. Ugh. Every time I put a new ROM on there, the device ID or whatever they're using changes. They must think I'm trying to equip an army with Slingplayer licenses.

I had it with a few apps as well. With Slingbox they indicated that it's not a problem at all since once they issue a new code, the old one is invalidated. They don't really care.
never mind...

The irony is that people who didn't pay for these applications have zero problems..
Copy protection doesn't hurt anyone but the legitimate people..
The worst part is, I can't even suggest that you (the legitimate purchaser) use the keygen floating around give yourself access to your product.. because that would cut you off from your online services..

Same problem with my TomTom, does the new Black 3.0.1 solve this issue?
Black 3.0.1 goes back to the same hardware ID that was around in Black 1.0 and Black 2.0. So.. I guess it's fixed? It seems like there was a build of WM6 out there that really screwed with things -- because all of the other ROM's had the same problem.

I didn't check Black 1 or Black 2, was the ID the same as WM5 with these versions of WM6? It was only a fault in roms v2.5?
My daughter lost her phone (htc hd2) .
I got the s/n, sim number, ...
I there any way to use the phone gps to find where it is?
probably not unless you had some tracking software on it....sorry
If you were using microsoft myphone, it has an option in it to locate a lost phone and/or lock/erase it (I think). Log in online to see what options are there.

This was what I was going to say!
But, what you can do is to go to Police with the IMEI number and they will block the IMEI so the phone becomes useless. (At least in my country they can do this )
Prime example of why kids shouldn't own expensive toys... "I always wanted to say that now that I'm not a kid anymore" lol..
Thanks
Thanks you all...
I already file a police report (give then s/n, sim nbr, ....) .
Will t-mobile contact the police if anybody try to activate the phone ?

By random I saw today on my router (DAP-1350 D-link) that on the DEVICE INFORMATION page under STATUS, I have something like this showing up:
IP:192.168.0.101 Android_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 00:00:00:00:00:00.
xxxxxxxx.... being the phone IMEI and 00:00... MAC address.
I use the ROM in my sig and that IMEI part is some weird stuff!!
Anyone experienced similar or what can be the part of the ROM doing this?
I can only guess, but I believe that your device might simply be named Android_[IMEI]. (-->Hostname)
I have no idea how to change it though, you would probably have to look into the WiFi API or some shell commands (You could try "busybox hostname" if you have root).
Btw:
This person here seems to have the same problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11866842
Are u sure that is your IMEI? Because I have a D-Link and I just checked it. It also shows Android_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, but its alpha-numeric and not an IMEI number.

Ah good point, I just checked: The number he is seeing should be a random hexadecimal string.

It is THE IMEI, otherwise this would be a waste of time.
I'll try the busybox thinggy and thx for suggestions.
Forgive my ignorance, but I don't see why you would consider this a security/privacy problem. Doesn't the MAC identify your particual phone as much as the IMEI? Both are just as easily traced back to your unit.
Hi, I have a ATT Note 2 and I keep getting the error "Phone Not Allowed MM#6" every time I turn it on. I can press the OK button and get to the home screen and use the phone normally except that it cannot send or receive texts or calls (emergency only). I am on the Solavei network and has been working fine for a few months, but the other day it just stopped one morning after I woke up.
I bought it from a store and he has assured me it wasn't stolen or anything like that. And the Solavei customer service could not get it working after several resets and whatnot. They sent me a new sim card which I have not received yet, but I am not very hopeful about that working... My WiFi works and I actually get signal bars but again, no 4G, no calls, no texts...
Is there anything I can do in the settings or anything? My phone does not have any custom roms or anything like that, just the regular ATT/Samsung Android 4.1.2. The only thing I changed on it was the option to enable the T-Mobile bands (Youtube: How to Enable T-Mobile 3G/4G AWS Bands on AT&T Galaxy Note 2 SGH-i317!). But I also tried without those bands and that didn't work either...
Please help, thanks in advance!
Try a complete factory reset with Odin. But that error sounds to me like someone reported the IMEI as stolen

Go into your local store with the original recipt. They should be able to either tell you who reported it or give you a refund

there can be two reasons.. one is when you tried to change the bands on your phone there are more possibilities your IMEI on the phone would have corrupted and that is reason you might be getting that message, and second reason can be some one reported the phone stolen and it is blocked from the service provider end..
to validate that check your phone IMEI by dialing *#06# if that shows your valid IMEI then your phone must have got blocked by the service provider or incase if the IMEI shows some thing like null or 00/0 then the phone IMEI is corrupted, I can help your fixing your phone IMEI if it corrupted.. let me know if you still having this problem
Thanks everyone. I called up ATT and they confirmed that the phone was reported stolen. So I took it back to the store I got it from and he said that sometimes this happens so the company can get the insurance... Regardless, he reset and rooted my phone and it works again. My IMEI number shows up as well. Now the only thing is that I am not able to get all of the T-mobile bands back. Does anyone know about this?

Wondering if my phone got hacked. I am running infamous rom on tmobile. Tonight my friend received my text messages from another number, and when my friend questioned who he was, he either didnt seem surprised or he was just playing along. If my phone did get hacked, do you guys have any advice like a system format, a setting I can change, or should I call tmobile directly?
Thank in advance

I'd call T-Mo directly and advise them of the situation. You might ask your buddy if he would participate and allow his carrier to use information to find what phone did the spoofing, and they can track the user via the IMEI number that is recorded when transmission is initiated. You MIGHT be required to have a police report to get the tracking done, so you ought to consider making the report to your local PD.
Be SURE your buddy isn't jerking your chain before you do anything, and I'd probably want to SEE the TM before any action on your part.
Aloha and Good Luck!
Bobolinko's advice is correct and the best course of action.
But to answer your specific question about the phoen being hacked...No, wiping it won't help. Neither will installing a different ROM or anything else.
If what your buddy is saying is actually happening, it's most likely not that someone have hacked into your phone and is remotely sending messages from your phone. It's far more likely that someone intercepted your cell signal, hacked the IMEI number (as stated above) and applied your IMEI number to another device, thus cloning your phone.
That message to your buddy came from another device entirely and never went through your phone at all. The problem is that this is very hard to fix. You can't have T Mobile jus tblock your IMEI number because then your phone won't work either. T Mobile can't distinguish between your phone and the cloned fake phone because both are broadcasting the same IMEI number, which is the identifier T Mobile uses to use your phone.
Have you left the United States recently and used your phone in another county? This whole scenario is vey common in Russia and other Eastern European countries. People got there on a vaction, use their phone, and immediately the phone's IMEI is captured and stolen. If you had mobile data turned on or used wifi, the user data on the phone is also likely compromised. Meaning all passwords, etc.
If you haven't left the US, it's much less likely, but still possible this is what happened.
Someone could have also physically looked at your phone, wrote down the IMEI number under the battery, and cloned it that way just to screw with you. No intercepted radio signals or anything. Just good old fashioned "copying the key". In that scenario it's almost certainly someone you know (unless you are in the habit of leaving your phone completely unattended around strangers).
