Hi,
Ive actually spoken to HTC about the same issue and they say that it is a bug in TomTom and this is why the button can be assigned ok in other applications / versions. I know this doesnt solve the problem but thought it might help some to kinow where the issue is

I installed TomTom 5 on my qtek 9090 and when I choose navigate to address there is no screen keyboard. I think it detected the external keyboard and therefore is not showing it.
Anyway to get the screen keyboard working ?? :?:
 Try the following...
In register of PDA..
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shell
Change..
HasKeyboard value from 1 to 0
To get to the register u can use the following app.
Registry Workshop from http://www.torchsoft.com
Install this on your PC and use file / Connect to register of mobile device
(Active sync must be connected to the device
Good Luck!
No luck
Didn't work
Changed > softreset >no keyboard

tt 4.4
I have the same prob with TomTom 4.4 and my Qtec 9090.
Hope someone comes up with a fix.
How is TT5, I was waiting to see if it was a lot better than 4.4 or much the same.
No I dont have the prob anymore. Changed to 0 rebooted and changed to smaller keybord in TT 4 and there it was.
Thanks DVB works fine and just in time for a 4 day weekend driving around up nth Holland.

I have the same problem with TT5.
I have asked the fench support of Tomtom and they replied to me that there was no issues for this at that time.
It is due to the fact that tomtom developpers have made the choice to consider the QTEK 9090 or similars like a Keyboard PPC (like HP6500 or Treo 650) to limit the number of version... that's what they said ...
As the QTEK 9090 do show a virtual keyboard on Street Number search or on reg screens and not on Town or Street name sreens, i do think that there is actualy a bug on QTEK 9090. It is also disapointing to try to type a poste code search with the hardware keyboard as when i press the "Fn" key i got a nice "Ñ" or when i press the "Shift" i got a "Ò"...
I think we should send a lot of request to the Tomtom support to have a chance to see an update in a future relaese (It could be an option whithin the parameters for exemple...)
...
Hi,
It was even worse in my case (I upgraded my Rom 1.22.556 to 1.40.553 since release of new Dutch retail a few days ago):
- As already mentioned the Registry hack (see reply from DVB4Free) works only for 4.4 version and not 5.0. I am still looking for a work-around to get my on-screen keyboard back while I wanna type a location/street to navigate to.
- Despite the fact I am using TomTom bluetooth receiver, I can't get my Qtek9090 connected to TomTom as long as I select the TomTom BT icon in wizard interface. After a lot tries I figured out that it only works if I select the 3th Icon (general bluetooth receiver) and not the second icon (the small silver color TomTom BT receiver). Isn't this odd?
- My 'Navigate To' item in Contacts popup menu is gone for good. It was working on TomTom 3.07 (and even on 4.4 so far I can remember). But since upgrade to v 5.0 I can't navigate to someone's address from my Contact list.
regards,
- Avareh
on screen keyboard
DVB4Free, dude is there nothing you can do to fix this problem? I tried it on TomTom 4 and it worked fine, after altering the key from 1 to 0 it worked. I have an XDA 2s and now I've just installed TomTom 5 I can't navigate to anything!
Cheers!
Anyone had any luck with this yet?
Peter
Success!!!

I have found that if you download the Great_Britain.postal file the Fn & Shift keys work ok so you can enter numbers
And also the added benefit of 7 digit postcodes, not sure about ppl who cant find a postal file for their own country though. But it worked for me so give it a try...
pscomp - I am new to all this  , but just got tt5 and I also have a MDA III. Can you explain what you did to get the keys working.. Thanks in advance...not sure what you mean about the download etc...wherefrom and where too?
Hi,
I can't remember where I downloaded the file from. Ive tried to upload it but I think the ftp is down :? . But it looks like it may be here ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Blueangel/
All you do is create a folder called zip on your SD card and put the file in there. That is assuming you are using the Great Britain Map. I will keep trying to upload the file though.
Hope this helps you
Yay, got the file uploaded.
All you should need to do is download the file, unzip it and then stick it in the zip folder on your SD card.(That is assuming you are using the Great Britain Map)..
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/
The file is called GreatBritain.zip

same happens to me when I install 1calc
I bought a new TT5 UK BT kit that arrived yesterday.
I (obviously) have the ZIP file on the SD card and I still don't have an onscreen keyboard. The odd thing is, I'm pretty sure I did have an onscreen keyboard during the installation, as I used it to enter my "home" location.
I've logged a bug report with TomTom, if they come back with anything useful I'll let you know.
Q.
Hi! Im using an iMate PDA2K with TomTom navigator 5.1 and a GlobalSat BT 338 receiver. Everything works but sometimes after using TT,I notice that the bluetooth icon in the lower tray has disappeared.I then have to go and click on the Run BT Tray file in the windows/startup folder to get it back.
anyone know why this is happening and the solution for this?
thanks in advance.
Kaz
Hi
Cant help but I have a very similar problem.
Tomtom turns my BT off on exit from tt.
On some occassions the whole of BT manager and settings have frozen!
hope someone can help!
Just configure ir for normal cable gps instead of bluetooth...
hi
what is ir? what steps do i need to take?
I think the "ir" was a typo for it.....
I have configured it for "other wired GPS receiver and like I said, it works fine but sometimes (more often lately) when I exit from TT, the BT icon is not there in the system tray...
Have you got anything like the O2 active interface loaded onto the device, - if so get rid of it. This causes all sorts of instability, Once deleted mines been great, and with the new ROM from O2, its even better - Mike
nope, mine is the iMate version without any of the O2 stuff....
it's like the BT icon disappears randomly from the system tray....going to File Explorer and then the windows/startup folder and clicking on Run_BTTray gets it back.....and the BT works fine too..... :?
I have the 1.40 iMate ROM and apart from this, every thing seems to be peachy.....anyone got any clues what's going on????something is "closing" the BT in the system tray..how do I find out what it is and stop it....
Hello,
I`m using TomTom 6 as navigation software on my T-Mobile MDA 3.
But I have the problem, that the TomTom Keyboard isn't show in fullscreen to input the destination adress. I must type on a button to show the fullscreen software keyboard of tomtom.
I have the same problem on my WM2003 and WM2005 devices.
Do anyone know the regkey to disable the hardware keyboard or antother way to fix this?
Regards
Selcuk
here are some screenshots.
Hello,
i have the same problem with tomtom version 6.00. I remember the same problem was with the first version(s) of tomtom 5. TomTom fixed that later with a patch, sad that they have an old problem in the new version.
Hi,
I have Black 2.5 installed on my Orange SPV m3100 and have installed my TomTom Navigator 6 software which seems to be running fine.
However I cannot get it to connect to my GPS reciever (it's not a TomTom one... that got knicked)
Has anyone had any success running this sort of set up? What setting do I need inside TomTom and in WM6?
Many thanks.
Crin
Just since you didn't mention it... you did pair the new GPS to the phone, right?
This is something I'm curious about as well. I won't get TomTom or Garmin, but Google Maps (free) is supposed to do the same thing.

I have run Tomtom 6 with Black 2.5 with no problems, have you tried a soft reset, and do you know how to pair it up properly with the bluetooth receiver?
I run Tomtom version 6.030 (8320) with new map version 675.1409
Hi,
I am using NAVIZON.COM and a nokia LDW3 GPS receiver and I must select manualy in Navizon software my GPS.
Maybe it is an WM6 problem or Navizon problem.
try to select it before launching maps

Richard
I have paired my m3100 with the GPS. In TomTom under GPS device I have selected "Other bluetooth GPS reciever" then it asks...
"GPS is connected to:"
Which do I select?

I use com port 0, but you need to set this in bluetooth settings before you run Tomtom, let me know what you have done so far and I will help you out.
I just helped someone with a bluetooth gps problem where they has paired the gps, but it would not work.
I looked at the bluetooth settings in the comm manager, the COM ports tab.
There was nothing there but "New Incoming port" and "New Outgoing port".
I clicked on "New Outgoing port" there was the GPS listed, and I clicked it to assign a com port. After I picked one that it would accept, the GPS worked fine.
Just because you pair the GPS does not mean you are done with the config.
Be sure and assign the port number.
I hope this helps.
I've sorted it now, thanks for all help.
I'd already done the pairing... AND set up a serial port but it wasn't appearing in the list within TomTom. However, for some reason when I tried it again to show someone it wasn't working...
...it worked!
Isn't that always the way? I dunno if it was the soft reset. seems feasible so thanks for that suggestion.
Anyways, i'm a very happy bunny now. My SPV has never run so fast, my TomTom works and I have my messenger all merged with Outlook nicely (finally) WM6 Black 2.5 rules!
This was driving me crazy, i was trying all these things and couldn't get tomtom to find my gps. but like an idiot i had overlooked the com ports on the bluetooth settings.
I set it to com 0, went to tomtom and com 0 showed up under other bluetooth gps(before it was cam3 com7 RIL on Com6 and irda). Now its all good to go!
btw, does the RIL on Com6 mean that its seeing the internal gps?
Hi
I have installed GPS on com5, TomTom don't reconize it (don't list com5) but i choose com3 and save setting. Exit tomtom and edit binary file navigator.cfg and change com3 to com5 save and rstart TomTom, then reconize com5 and works fine.
Try yo do this.
Can someone give a definitive answer to this, I am using an Orange SPV M700 which I have flashed with the generic Dopod WM5 rom Version 1.23.405.2.
I have tried various WM6 roms and have had the same issues with them all, I loose bluetooth pairing authority, the wirless keys are lost and Tomtom map activations are lost too.
Is there a way to resolve this issue as I see there are a lot of users with the Trinity and WM6 in signatures, so someone must be doing something right.
After having flashed my phone from WM5 to WM6, the tomtom ID of my phone changed too... Perhaps Tomtom's support will help you with that?
I have no problem with bluetooth...
It's not that, perhaps I should have been a bit clearer.
After flashing to WM6 & pairing across bluetooth for the activesync, connecting it to my wireless & activating the tomtom maps, give it 24hours or so and these details are lost. Although the bluetooth PC is still in the paired devices, the pairing code needs to be re-entered as does the wireless key if I try to connect to that.
The Tomtom map needs reactivating again also.

I already read somewhere about this.
When you do some pairing with bluetooth and PC sometimes you lose the maps!!
Don't have further details though
