Flashing with vista x64 any luck? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Has anyone had any luck flashing with vista x64?
I have not,
I have tried the drivers and various fixes, the current fix (using old Active sync drivers does not work on x64 despite driver signing being switched off.
tried many many things over a few hours.
has anyone got it to work?
I know it works on x32 vista....
I have also searched various threads on here and howard forums, no such luck with those fixes.
Vista RTM ultimate.

Now that is going to be a challenge. I have not tried it yet because there just too many issues with Vista 64 and available drivers.

the only driver which has an issue is creative and X-fi everything else works fine.
I am sure the creative software +driver writing team are at war with their hardware guys lol
I will probably just end up using a VMware win xp to flash, failing that a long jacket seems to be favourite when flashing

It's not a challenge at all, just replace the current drivers with the older XP ActiveSync4 drivers, x64 ones obviously; and it should work JUST fine. That's how I did it with Vista 32, and flashing works great.

THIS IS EXACTLY THE DATA I'M LOOKING FOR....
Now how did you manage to do this (Vista32) without installing ActiveSync?

Here's there thread:

That is how I did it, and it's working like a CHARM!!!

Updating through VMWare Virtual Machine

Hello,
I know there is a procedure for updating the phone on Windows Vista, but I'm asking myself if someone tried to do an update from a Windows XP virtual machine (as those machines can access to the USB)?
In a nutshell :
Windows Vista real computer
--> Running VMWare Workstation 6
----> Running Windows XP Pro
------> Updating the ROM of the phone
Thanks !

Well, I do this with XP running virtually in Mac OSX through a similar program called Paralells - works like a champ. NOt exactly what you are asking, but close.
I use VMWare 6 in my Vista PC for flash using XP OS before WDCM was launched... and works great...
Now i continue using to flash my Wizard in XP Box trough Virtual Machine cause upgrade tool for Wizard is not compatible with Vista...
So you can use to flash what you want, sure.
Regards.
Thanks for your experiments This will be a super trick for updating my hermes without having to worry about windows vista drivers things!
Thanks!
works like a charm ive been using it since january and i always updaye my roms in it and parallels
dont understand post,

Did you guys configure something special in VMware? My VM'ed XP doesn't find the phone (Wizard) over USB, I just get an error in the RUU...
I'm running XP Pro 32bit in VMware 6 on Vista 64bit. Didn't change anything in the VMware configuration... Any ideas?
Not to horribly change the subject, but why not make sure your phone is supercid and flash from an sd card?
I have used this method many times from my Mac desktop, instead of getting out my XP Laptop.

You can also flash from a VMWare XP virtual machine in OSX on a hackintosh

WMDC on Windows 7 RC1

WMDC was working fine for me until I upgraded to RC1 of Windows 7. It did tell me as I upgraded that WMDC wasn't compatible. The only thing I have installed which isn't in fact. Windows own mobile device centre is the only thing not compatible that I had!?!?!?
Anyway, I guess I'll try a reinstall, but does anyone know how I can get it WMDC working again?
(I'm using Dutty's 3.3 and W7 RC1 64bit)
Hi. Now I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate RC Evaulation copy. Build 7100 and everything is working fine. Even rom upgrades working with no poroblem.
hey guys - I'm using RC1 too but the 64-bit - never tried to use it to flash my device though (dual boot with XP)
its the last piece of the puzzle I need in order to migrate completely to W7 and wave goodbye to WinXP.
can you both confirm which versions you are using please? and if 64-bit did you have to install the vista 64-bit driver found on these forums or did it work 'straight out of the box'?
thanks
I have 32-bit version of Windows 7 RC. I just connect mine HTC TOUCH HD to PC and Windows install the drivers and Windows Mobile Device Center install automaticly. Now everything is working. cheers
As I said, I have 64 bit and WMDC wont even start for me
I have Win 7 RC1 64bits, and Duttys HD V2,4
You need to uncheck Enable faster data sync in Settings/Connections/USB to PC..
That dit the trick for me...
Hi! I have 2 notebooks, one with win7 rc1-32bits, the other with win7 rc1-64 bits. I connect my Touch HD on both, succesfully.
Htc Touch HD Aka Blackstone
Windows 7 RC (Build7100)
Everything works GREAT!!!
Flashing, synchronizing!
Must be your config
Windows 7 RC x64 here, can flash without problems, after downgrading HTC-USB drivers to active sync drivers
Windows 7 here X6. Everything works perfect
I'm using Windows 7 RC1 64BIT without any problem.
Have you upgraded from Windows 7 Beta to the RC?
Than you must uninstal WMDC before. After the upgradeprocess reinstall WMCD again.

This fixed it for me. Thanks
You shouldn't need to disable faster data connections. The reason that this method works is that it detects a new device and installs new drivers.
There are a few things to do, I am not sure which in particular does it, but I'vbe upgraded Windows 7 many times and some combination has always worked.
Reinstall WMDC 7.1
Manage partnerships and delete them all.
When you plug in your phone go to device manager, find your phone (if faster data connections is shown, it will be listed as a portable device and a Lan connection)
click "uninstall" on these items, and delete drivers if this option is available.
unplug phone. Wait
Plug it back in.
Let it install drivers
If this still doesn't work. Click on the devices (network connection and portable device) selelct "upgrade drivers" on each, searching the internet.

To be honest, now it works I'm not going to mess with it unless I have to. Will it be a slower transfer to the HD?
Hi all,
I had similar trouble with Windows 7 RC, however I followed the instructions posted at: http://capitalhead.com/articles/ena...synchronization-on-windows-7-x64-and-x86.aspx and that did the trick.
If I'm not mistaken, Windows 7 is supposed to download WMDC automatically, however it never did that for me. Hope it helps someone else.
Mike
w7-64bit RC1 here....
WMDC works fine (stock install) - use it both at home and at work, and i flash by renaming and copying rom image to SDcard\blacimg.nhb
Unistall
Try to uninstall WMDC and download and install another one from the internet! It work for me and i had the same problem...
W7 and Blackstone here. Flashing Syncing ... works great.
I know this thread is old but I am having this problem and none of the suggestions I have found out on the internet have solved it. I am basically having the same issue as most people in this thread have had but the REAL problem is that Windows Mobile Device Center will NOT install no matter what I try. I run the setup for it and it looks fine until it gets to 1 second left on the progress bar. Then it sits...and sits...and sits...until finally the bar rolls backward and the installation quits. No error messages, no nothing and no WMDC. I am running Win7RC x64. I will never get syncing working if I can't get WMDC actually installed in the first place. I did look in the event log and it seems there is an error related to VSS every time I attempt an install on this app. Anyone have any ideas?

WMDC not working on Win7

OK. I have a strange problem. I built a new PC and loaded Win7 x64 on it. Everything was working fine. I was even using my TP2 to tether. This worked for about an hour. After a few reboots and software installs, I could no longer connect to my TP2 either through tethering or through WMDC.
I struggled for hours to figure out the problem, but nothing worked. Finally I reinstalled Win7 hoping that would fix it. Nope. It did not. No matter what I try, Win7 fails to install the driver for the device. I have downloaded new copies of WMDC from MS and that hasnt helped.
Any thoughts? It is working fine on my Vista machine.
It may not be of great help, but mine works fine with w7 x64 (with USB). I am using the HTC official 6.5 rom.
It was a little more tricky to use the internet sharing with BT, a driver could not be found for a component but everything was working though. I had to force windows to use a driver for that unknown device to rid of this cosmetic issue.
RE-download the WMDC from microsoft. There is a driver update that will install. The WMDC that comes with Win7 didn't work for me either, but after I reinstalled it worked great.
Also, your ROM may be runnin a USBtoPC service for the Popup Window to appear. You might want to soft reset your phone and try again.
http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/...c/thread/738d164d-f3eb-4edf-ae97-4f4c220253f3 same story , but for some people it work ...not work for me at all
I cannot connect two my tilt ( 1 and 2 ) to windows 7

[Q] Win XP64 drivers

Hi all,
I will be very thankful if you could help me with this one.
I am using Windows XP64 OS and I love it !
Recently I have bought One X (which I love as well), but as you might guess, the problem is I could not find drivers for it.
I have downloaded HTC Sync with hope that it will install the necessary drivers, and actually it did work on Windows XP (32bit),
but the installation failed on XP64.
Without the drivers, 'adb' does not recognize my phone and I can not continue developing on it (only on the simulator)...
Any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance,
Almoni
I'm in the same boat, Can't find drivers guess it's time to update windows
The biggest problem with WinXP 64 are the drivers. I doubt there are any.
Some people say this driver works for XP64.
No promise it will work but it is worth trying
I tried that one with no luck on my system. Windows does recognize my phone but not properly like xp 32 bit does at work.

Step-By-Step: Get USB 3 Ports Working on Win 8 (For Issues With ADB/Fastboot and RR)

You need to install Win7's USB drivers on Win8 in order to get ADB/Fastboot working on Win 8. I drove myself mad until some kind soul here (can't remember who) provided the following link. Hope this helps some of you exasperated with getting RumRunner working.
Plugable

be warned, I have tried this 3 times already, and at some point throughout, on EVERY try, my computer would just STOP recognizing my USB devices, and I would have to use a recovery image on my computer because i couldnt log in to my desktop.
YMMV, but it didnt work at all for me
I made this guide. What I had to do was edit some Windows8 settings and install the drivers manually to get them to work.
This worked beautifully for me on Windows 8.1 RTM x64, thanks much.
I tried all this and still couldn't use Fastboot. My fix was in BIOS. I disabled xHCI mode in USB under advanced tab and everything is fine.
Worked great for me! Thanks!

Hi.I am creating a thread on this problem and I am using your idea on it and I will give credit to you too.
thanks alot.
Just wanted to let you guys know I got it working by installing pdanet. It installed it's drivers and everything worked after that.

My laptop has 2 USB 3 ports and 1 USB 2 port. fastboot/adb doesn't work on the 3s. I always use the 2 port and it works perfectly fine.
Guys the problems with windows 8 and windows 8.1 are normally the usb 3.0 drivers. Intel have not posted windows 8 drivers for series 7 and series 8. You need to modify the windows 7 drivers with other inf files. I have done the job for you so you can manually install the drivers.
The intel series 7 64 bit can be installed from here:

I wasn't aware HTC released 8.1 drivers. I will give these a try. Thanks!
I just made a usb stick carrying win7 to boot off of on my girl's win8.1 laptop. Works wonderfully, the only issue i had when using this guide was i had to manually set the boot sector after finishing running the application.
