Can't enter MMS Server Settings - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I'm using the LSVW Rom, but I'm not sure that makes much difference. The problem is that I cannot enter the server settings for MMS messaging. In most roms, there's a kind of "dummy server" in the list already, but here I have nothing. I hit "NEW" and enter all of my Cingular server settings, but when I click "OK" when finished, nothing happens.
I'm not sure if there needs to be that MMS server in there by default before adding another, but it's the one thing I've noticed different from the other roms I've tried (WXML, BLACK, Etc.).
Can anyone help me without making me hard reset? There's an MMS in the inbox I really need to retrieve, but am afraid it may not be resent from Cingular's server after a reset.
Thanks in advance! I'm loving tring out the WM6 and want to thank everyone who is cooking them and making them available. Great community!

Same thing happened to me with the latest cingular rom. I tried all those SMS and MMS settings cabs and nothing worked for me. I even tried running the extrom, but nothing.
In the end I did a hard reset and let the cingular extrom run through, and it worked. Mind you I am still running WM5.

I've had that problem with all wm6 roms and cingular settings, my activsync wouldnt stay connected to my exchange server either. I ended up cooking my own rom pre-configured with cingular settings in the auto installer.

Black 2.0 - Strange roaming message.

I'm sure one of you have seen this message before. I'm not sure why I'm getting it, but I have a good idea to guess why. I installed Black 2.0 over cingular's old rom. I then installed T-Mobile's cab file found here, but not for US. I was hoping the servers were the same, but apparently not. Anyway, after attempting to uninstall the cab, I still found some traces of the settings set in the phone. I made sure all those were deleted and installed the information manually for T-Mobile in the US.
I'm using T-Mobile's triggering software, so I went through the registry steps outlined here: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=239456
to have my email triggered via sms messages to check for email.
The problem: Everytime I manually or trigger check my emails, I get the following message from Outlook on my TyTn:
Messaging (Window)
"You are currently roaming. Synchronizing may result in additional charges."
I know for a fact I'm not roaming. Any help here? I couldn't find anything close on the search through the forums. T.I.A.

This has nothing to do with the BLACK2 rom. it has got to do with the CAB you installed from Tmobile.
If its not the cab, then its your telco/carrier.
Also, dont start a new thread, this thread should be migrated with the Black official thread where issues are discusses.

jj, it's only a problem with Outlook messaging. Do you know of a method to disable this check in the registry? I'd hate to hardreset everything to realize it wasn't the cab file I installed. Much help appreciated and great job on this app.
I don't think it's just with Outlook and not just with the Black ROM. I've experienced the same error/behavior with XpressMail (push) from Cingular. I have not found a solution.

Are you using T-Mobile (US) SIM card in your Cingular 8525?
No, Cingular SIM, Cingular service. I have also not installed any additional CABs. I also have never had any other problems with phone/data transfer/email, just XpressMail for some reason. Every time XpressMail thought about doing something it replied "...Roaming..."

Interesting. Is your Outlook working fine? I haven't tred XpressMail. I also get the triangle at the top of my phone (meaning roaming). I don't see why I'm roaming if I'm connected to T-Mobile's network. i'm confused madly.
Ok I confirmed it's definately not the radio 1.40.xx. JJ said it wasn't WM6 - Black 2.0 and I agree with him to some point.
So i went to use the latest WM5 Shipped Rom from Cingular/ATT: RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_2_1_.15.502.3_6275_1.40.30 .00_108_Ship.exe
Get this!!! You ready??! Interesting find... I got the roaming icon after the WM5 OS was built. But! When it installed ATT's branded stuff from the extended ROM, the freakin roaming icon went away. Something in there changed it. We must disect this and figure it out. Any takers? I'd love to go back to wm6 but I won't until this is fixed.
Anybody found a solution to this? I have just upgraded my Cingular 8525 to WM6 (Black 3.01 and then 3.5), applied the Cingular settings CAB, and I am getting this error as well.
No Fix
Still no fix for this. Sad to say bro, that JJ seems to be the only guy that should know the packaging of his black tyron roms, but the seems he doesn't care given he doesn't live in the US where it appears we suffer from these roaming icons. His latest build of Blacks (Tyron's) Shadow is most definately monstracity, but again, I can't use it with the annoying roaming icon trying to check my email and it won't because it think's i'm roaming where I know I'm not. WM5 seems to be the only solution for now until I get some hacker to figure it out. No time for me since I'm hella busy.
its an issue with cingular period! reflash to black4.0 and dont use Xpressmail its ****!! use activesync with excahnge 2007 and you will not get the roaming message.. also do not install the Cingular settings with the cab set them by hand and dont use MediaNet use wap.cingular

trouble setting up Orange Connections in WM6

Hi all
I've just flashed to the latest ax3l ROM (as per sig), but am having trouble getting the Orange connection settings to appear correctly, when re-entering them manually.
I'm using the settings for Orange UK as per those posted by Findus, found half way down this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299023&page=5&highlight=orange+MMS+settings
Basically, I can't get the the the three separate Operator Connections to list separately. Either 2 or all of them will always come under the Modems tab after selecting "Manage existing connections" from the only "My Work Connection" listed on the initial page.
As a result I cannot specify the correct settings under the Proxy tab for each individual connection.
What I think I need to see is all 3 connections listed individually on the initial Connections page, is this correct?
I'm guessing these settings are written for WM5, and I'm missing something obvious here?
Any help hugely appreciated
Dom
try this cab
thanks for the quick reply to my long question, and a cab is certainly easier than tapping it all out
interestingly, the cab doesn't enter all the above connections (only the orange GPRS connection and the MMS server settings), but browsing by GPRS and at least sending MMS now both work fine. I'm guessing that it was ripped from the original Orange ROM?
thanks anyway
i'm on my ppc now, trying to upload two more cabs for you to try
all found by googling this site
sorry, i should have made that clearer - as far as I can see, everything I need is now working corrrectly, from the first cab you originally posted - thank you!
The only thing I've not checked properly yet is receiving MMS, and verifying the ones I sent have been received OK, which I'll get the chance to do later. I was only wondering out of interest why the connections didn't look correct as per the original post, and whether the rest of them were necessary, as all seems OK so far.
Thanks for the other two though, I'll keep them on the card in case things aren't working correctly. TBH, I hadn't thought to search for orange settings as cabs, as I'd been searching for the settings themselves, and didn't realise they were available in cabs.
Might be an idea for a sticky somewhere?
i think the last cab is in a sticky somewhere.
and you're right, a lot of the orange setting are minimal, for example, i don't think they have passwords in their settings etc
sorry, been away for last 2 weeks, and decided to not be fussed about fixing things for a change
it appears i now have no messaging at all, although GPRS works fine. i
Have been through the settings with Orange, and apparently all are OK (although i didn't mention flashed rom)... i also removed a username and password in the MMS settings which had appeared after one of the CABs, like you mention.
does anyone have or know of any screenshots with the relevant settings in the connections pages pictured for WM6 and orange?
this is odd, as i wouldn't have thought norma SMS could be affected by these settings - cannot currently send or receive
if it's just the sms settings (have you checked voicemail?)
check the following
open the 'phone program' go to menu\options\services\
tap 'Voice Mail and Text Messages' then tap 'get settings'
the text number should be
+447973100973
(voice mail
+447973100123)
if these settings are not missing/wrong or doesn't sort it out if it is wrong, then I'm sorry but I don't know the answer
thanks again for your help -I've checked all those as well now, and all seem correct too, although I'm unable to auto downwload the settings to re-confirm them [EDIT - phone is reading settings fdrom network correctly now, but messaging still not working] ...
I'll pull some screenshots of my own settings off, as It's probably easier for others to see errors in my settings, rather than me expect others post theirs
if nothing goes after that, then I suppose it's a ROM issue (maybe burnt inrroectly?) and a reflash and re-install is in order
back from the dead.
thought I'd add the only CAB that seeems to have worked for me, for anyone else searching

Have you checked your connections settings? When flashing a new ROM to your device, 9 times out of 10 you will have to reset your GPRS settings.
Yes, I've checked it. I'm using WIFI not GPRS.
btw, using the funambol service & application I can see mi mail.
i have the same provlem as well with my aol account
Regardless of whether you're using WiFi or GPRS, it's imperative that you set up the connections according to the T-Mobile instructions. Make sure they are set to these specifications. http://tmobileuspublic.wdsglobal.co...=phone.vm&selectManufacturerId=9&phoneId=1828
I'm using another provider from Argentina.
Could you explain me what i need to configure?
And why it works fine in wm6 and not in wm6.1 ?
Thanks.

Go to this website: (http://tmobileuspublic.wdsglobal.co...=phone.vm&selectManufacturerId=9&phoneId=1828) It'll help you to configure your MMS and Internet connections on your Dash. Whenever you flash to a different ROM, you are running the risk of clearing out your connections settings. By flashing to a "cooked" ROM such as Kavana's WM6.1, you need to re-enter these configurations. It's really simple. Just go to the website I gave you, and follow the instructions. It'll take you step-by-step. After configuring both connections, reboot your device. As long as you set-up your email accounts correctly, they should work. One way to test them, is to click on Send/Receive in your email menu.
Nice website, that website seems to take care of a lot of problems people seem to have with either the internet or the MMS service.
aol mail fixed
i have fixed the problem... with my aol mail... i change my password from alphanumeric to just letters and it works like a charm....

When you type a text message, do all the keys work like they are suppose to? Or do you have a keyboard mapping issue (hence, you might be entering a wrong password)
trying changing your password like the dude above your post did

Internet & MMS not working, after Tmobile settings set properly(?) (Tzones), RegEdit?

Internet & MMS not working, after Tmobile settings set properly(?) (Tzones), RegEdit?
I used a cab file called "tmobyjoe599" to set my internet settings on my 8525 flashed with Faria's 6.1.
I am able to get to google, but when going to any site like m.myspace.com, etc, it locks on "connecting..." and the circle freezes. I can close the IE app, but then the OS gets sloow, and it doesn't ever end the IE task when I attempt to. Short of a soft reset, the device gets frozen.
When sending an MMS message, it gives me a sending envelope icon with an arrow, showing it's leaving, with a progress meter that gets to 95% then stops. Never goes past that.
I was messing with some Regedit keys for the server for the weather app and may have messed something up that way. Is there a way to reset these settings short of a Hard Reset?
Is there a valid cab file that will set the Tzones $5.99 plan internet & mms settings for WM6.1 for an 8525? I see settings all over this site and others, but none seem to be in the right places/settings menus as my load?
Much appreciated... I read this forum constantly, but hardly ever post.
JT
Yeah. I have the cab for the 5.99 and the 29.99.
The 39.99 never worked for me so I don't use it anymore. The 29.29 version works perfectly for me. I like the fact they make the allowed mms size larger.
Here you are. Enjoy.
Oh yeah. In the future you probably want to do a search and it will show. I'm sure you'll get that response from many a veteran around here.
Please note, I have already used the tmobyjoe599.cab file (I have it on my storage card), and even after a hard reset, after setting this cab, this is when I experience the lockup issues. Running this .cab doesn't reset the registry server settings, does it?

I don't know. You may be forced to either do a hard reset or reflash your rom.
Use Pim Backup 2.8 to back up all your data and do a hard reset. Then rerun the settings cab of your choice and see what happens.
Your registry changes may be the problem.
did you use advanced config or any other app to change the IE cache/cookies location to your SD card? I have seen your exact symptoms caused by this.. try setting them back to the default location
Did PIMbackup. I'll ck advancedconfig program to make sure I didn't change anything in there... Been in there a few times, not sure if I did.
After that, if it's still not resolved I will hard reset, then do the tmobyjoe599 cab, and see if it works and report back.
I checked Locations tab of advancedconfig and the Default storage location for downloads, ie cache location, ie cookies location and ie history location were all pointed to sd card. I reset those to device, and will ck shortly.
Internet works now you guys rock.
hummm i need step by step i guess
I downloaded the cab file for my t-zones, and it worked..only problem was that its slow and certain web sites cant be shown, mainly web sites with a password like gmail and a few others, how do I fix this?

WM 6.1 SMTP fix released?

Can someone tell me if I need to install this fix? or if it may mess up my phone?
I was reading http://blogs.msdn.com/outlook_mobile/archive/2008/11/12/wm-6-1-smtp-fix-released.aspx this week while my phone was not working. I think my problem was from google gears, but I have no idea, am back to a clean phone and am avoiding installing things I don't really need.
After several days of trying I was finally able to get my phone to reset it's data using the two softkeys and power on reset method.
I'm happily running the Kavana ROM, and connected to three email sources. Hotmail, Gmail via IMAP, and an exchange server.
My reading of the issue that is fixed refers to setting by the carriers, and I'm not using any email through my cellular carrier.
