Ok here’s my question,
I would like to have my PHONE password to be prompt on booting,
and not the SimCard asking the pincode
but to secure my data (& phonebill)
i would like to know if its possible
like back in the days on my NOKIA :s (yah I know)
I could select the option, on phone swapping the simcard the phone would ask for the puk code
so the card wouldn’t b usable without pin on another phone
(id rather not lose my phone but u never know right?)
Is there a way?
thx a lot,
Kartboy
From what i remember (had a 3210 and a (oh yes baby) 7110) the option was for the phone to ask for a security code when a different sim was put in it yer?
There was a security setting which if set to the highest would promt for this code whenevr the phone was powered up aswell.
The sim code option is what i use at the moment on my TyTN as i have always locked my sim card, but afaik there isnt an option for when a different sim/usim card is inserted.
yah the 7110 was a funny one .. matrix style .. had 2 of em since my first on crashed on a wall on a bad night lol
yah those are the settings i mean,
u think that if i did that setting on the nokia b4 it will still remain on the sim?
No the sim card wouldnt retain that sort of info, when you setup sim lock it retains THAT setting but not phone specific ones, there isnt much security-wise as standard in WM5-6. Perhaps look for a 3rd party solution to this??? Or if you are feeling adventurous develop your own!? (in the xda-devs spirit!)

Hell yes the 7110 was a GREAT phone
I was considering this option,
since i got some clients who prefer using blackberry (i dun get why)
with the reason that,
if u fail 5times ur code @ boot the device getz erased,
which is pretty good for privacy i think,
i mean if i lose my phone
i can lock my sim with the provider easily but u dun need to activate the sim to b able to check all the info on the phone, which scarez me more
ow by the way the radio 38 any good?

Seems ok yer, My 3G and GSM are both still very good (most improvment was from 1.27, the radios since have all been very good). My main reason for upgrading to 1.38.00.10 was that the GPS chip is a dead end, so i figured having a radio that isnt capable of turning it on will remove that headache if it goes wrong, and also my previous radio (1.35.00.11) was a trinity radio and the new one is a hermes radio, better all round
lol I am a retard,
clicked the wrong filename.. installed the 35.00.11 instead of the 38.00.11
will keep the forum updated bout it...
thx man

well i think this would be an odd topic with all the unlocking talk going around...but this is exactly what i want to know...
how do i lock my imate jam i mean how many locks could be put on the phone and the pda itself...powerfull locks so no one would be breaking those except for u guys xda-developers.com
is there a way to bootlock it like the one a PC has? you could just put a password for booting
and how does the sim lock work? i tried the option given in my phone which says "Require PIN when phone is used", but that is just for MY sim and it wont lock the whole thing. so basically what i want is a lock that would not allow any other sim to work in my phone.
thanks
hi...
simply...go to settings/personal tab/password,and lock it
it's too strong that it will prompt password after each soft reset, and if u put 0 minutes near "prompt if device unused for",will prompt password each time u turn on ur phone(after standby).....
it cannot be hacked....without....HARD RESET...
so i guess,ur looking for something stronger.. ,or u think it's enought???
RAGO
stronger one
well that is i think the weakest one i mean it just needs a hard reset im certainly looking for something stronger

As per my knowledge, ther is two types of "multi sim"
1- the one that holds both of your sims into some smal circut, and there is a third sim connected to the circut, which you insert into the back of your phone, and keep the rest of the circut into the cover back.
2- there is another type, that you cut a small peice of your two sims , and re-attach it to a new SIM, and insert it into the sim hole into the phone.
the difference is if have a place in the back of your phone for the first type, use it, cause it keeps your sims in a good condition and can be used in any other phone, if you don't have a space for the circut, so you have to use the second type, but you can't use any of the sims separte, because you have already cut it.
now, the important part of that all, that you can't use both SIMs at the same time, none of the above solutions can make you online on both SIMs, because your phone of course dosn't support it, the phone is disigned to deal with one network only at the time, the above solutions only makes you to switch your phone off, then re-switch it on, to find your self on the other SIM, and you can do re-switching your phone to back to the first SIM.
hope that I was clear, and hope there is a program some day that can deal with both SIMs at the same time

no,unfortunately and it seems so strang than nobody is interested in it
I did sent an email and I did get a reply (in dutch )
Apparently the dual sim sollution should be usable in our universal, u cut your sim card to pieces (cut the chip out) and put it in a specialy made simcard, that fits exactly in the universal like a normal simcard would.
In a special sim menu u can choose which one of the sim cards is used, BUT they cant be used at the same time if u wanted that u have to buy a dual dim phone, which probably has two radio circuits....

thank for your replay, but unfortunatly if it has a menu ,it's certainly not compatible for jasjar ,just tested this kind of dualsim.
Hi,
there is a third type of multi sim, it is the SuperSIM 16 in 1.
Phisically it is just like a normal SIM, but it can contain up to 16 virtual SIMs.
see: http://www.duosim.com
You need a special SIM and a hardware reader/writer (to be connected to a usb port), then you read your original SIMs and copy them to the SuperSIM with the progam delivered in the kit.
I bought one, I can read my SIMs, but when I try to write to the SuperSIM I receive an error (write failed!)
I wrote many times to the seller via web, e-mail and normal mail, but I had no reply, so I wasted my money and I still need a dual SIM.
I don't like to cut my SIMs, I previously bought a "type 1" (as described by mehegazy) but I cannot close the SIM holder on my Qtek9000.
Bye.

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem like you, and I started searching about.
I figured out with a lot of testing, that using the program "SuperSIM LY-600" from the link "http://www.duosim.com/download.html", totaly solved my problem, so now I have the supersim 16in1 loaded in my qtek9000 using up to 5 different numbers.
I hope that helps you.
Beware using the 16 in one sim cloning system.
Cloning your sim is in contradiction of you terms with the service provider, and can be illegal in some countries. IN brief: If yer caught yer busted!
Oh dont bother if you have a Vodafone UK sim as they use a Triple DES encryption on the card that simply will take you a year to break before you can brute force the IMSI and KA. Oh and yes I have played with this in the past.

Hi Jolas,
I used LY-600 as you suggested and now I can write to the supersim - GREAT!
Thank you very much.
But how can I switch between my two numbers on my Qtek900?
Is there a new menu? Where?
Switching the phone on and off doesn't switch the numbers.
Thank you again.

I'm happy this hepled you.
In the programs menu, you will find a shortcut names "STK". Just use it and you will find the menu 'switch number'.
In case you don't have the STK service, then probably you'll need a new ROM which is suppotring this service.

Hi Jolas,
you are very kind.
I cannot find an icon STK under Programs folder, maybe my ROM does not support this service, as you said.
I tested the supersim on other cellphone and it works, so the SIM seems to be OK.
I'll will further investigate.
Anyway thanks a lot !

Yes, it does, but be aware you can't use the same time the same number through two different sims because your phone provider is going to lock your sim .
I bought a HTC Desire branded to Orange UK trough eBay when i was working there last month. The First thing i did was to debrand it using the 1.15.405.2 that i found on MoDaCa, and i bought a unlock key on eBay. This solution worked pretty well until the OTA update showed up, the i got the known WiFi issue. That was no biggie either, just installed the RUU of the 1.21.405.2 and the new Radio, and everything seemed to be perfect again
BUT THEN, two days ago, my phone suddenly lost it's connection to the my mobile operator . I tried to swap my sim card with another sim card, and the result was that my HTC Desire wouldn't get connection while my sim card worked well in the other phone. I also browsed trough my menus to try to find something that might be wrong, but no luck. If i tried to connect to my mobile operator manually, i got a message saying something like "SIM-card doesn't allow connection to this network".
Yesterday morning, i called HTC to try to find out if this might be a hw or sw malfunction, and he advertised me to do a factory settings restore and felt pretty confident that it only was the sw letting me down. I did as he suggested and boom, it worked...for about 5-6 hours, then it came back. As if that wasn't annoying enough, a factory settings restore didn't do the trick this time, and neither did a reflash with the goldcard. I even formated my mSD to be sure there wasn't any kind of virus on it.
So please, if anyone in here got a tip regarding sw, let me know. I'm helpless without my dear phone...
Hmmm this is my biggest concern... I'm just about to buy an ebay Orange Desire and flash it with a stock ROM and unlock it.... kinda worrying as I'm no Linux man really...
im not sure if its the same thing but i have lost conection to t mobile on my desire twice now. first time was fixed by re entering the apn. this time no change. the differance is mine is un branded. i also cant do mms any more.
Unbranded and debranded, same ****, isn't it? Niter means branded...
Seems like i'm not the only one with this problem: http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/topic/5...nt-re-connect/page__view__findpost__p__405655
Lots of Vodafone users in that forum has similar issues, but most of them seems to have a workaround by turn off the back on, or go by airplane mode to get signal back, tat doesn't work for me. I tried to flash my phone once more, but still no luck.
I'm considering a root operation and install android 2.2 aka froyo, but i'm not even sure if that is possible since i got the bootloader version 0.80...
ive just got mine working again by resting the apns to default.
mms still not working though. i hope its not a voda problem i just paid off t mobile a years contract to join voda due to terrible reception and crap tech support.
what is that, and how do you do it? I would guess that a reset to factory default and/or a complete reflash would take care of such, whatever it is...
Yep I was about to ask the same thing! what is it and how do you turn it on/off?
go to settings - wirless & networks - mobile networks - access point names - then press the menu key and hit reset to default.
hope this helps you
That did the same thing as a "reset to factory defaults", but still doesn't work
I've an unbranded unlocked desire on 3 UK with original firmware and mine does drop out occasionally but always comes back perhaps its a desire quirk !

Suppose so, but unlike you and many others, mine doesn't come back I was hoping for a fix for this issue, but i'm afraid were talking about hw malfunction, let's hope i'm wrong...
Little update, just followed this guide, but that didn't change anything. As far as i know, i now got some kind of rooted version of HBOOT 0.75 and fw.ver. 1.15.405.4, dunno about radio version. But it also says that i'm not able to install a custom rom with this rooted version, but i might be able to completely root it now and then install a custom rom?
Yet another update, i did install the 2.2 Froyo following this guide, and unlike the HTC roms, this one indicates that i do have full/optimal connection to my mobile operator, but it still won't let me call, just replies with 'Mobile network not available'.
I kinda courages me to scream out loud ****!!! Yes, i mean it...
Feedback would be nice
Just a thought, may i be that the guy i bought the phone from could have reported it as stolen with the intention of getting an insurance fee? And as a result of that, my phone have been closed by the operator? Don't even know if they mind doing such across the border. So the question would be: Is there any way to find out if my phone has been remotely closed?
Call your carrier.... they will be able to tell you if the phone is connecting to the nextwork correctly... ask them if not... why not?
I second that suggestion, try calling your carrier. Also I have found that switching the internet on directly through settings rather than using the widgets solved my connection problem.

Yep, i got contact with the seller from eBay, and he is very helpful, so he will do what he can while i will call my carrier first thing in the morning. Seems like there might be a glitch here, but i'll keep you updated on my progress.
argh, it seems like i wont get anywhere with my phone. I'm considering trying to change the IMEI, i know it's illegal, but i paid £360 for this device, and atm it's useless to me. If i only knew how tho change the imei, not exactly easy information to obtain, not even with google...

So have you found out why your having problems?
ah, sorry, thought i already told u guys, lol. Well, for some reason the phone is IMEI locked. The seller says that he did call to lock a sim card when he lost his iphone, and it might be related since it's the sim that was suppose to be in my phone. however, i think he either claimed the phone stolen to commit insurance fraud, or it's simply stolen. Another thing i came across was that the operator might blacklist the phone if it's unlocked without their blessing, don't really know if they can do that.
Either way, the only way for me to make this phone work is to convince the police that it's not stolen (i need a recite for that which he won't provide me), or to change the imei code with my "awesome" hacking skills...
hi giuys like the header says i would like to sim lock my phone... what i mean is that i want my phone to work only with my sim... i've tried to search on the forum for it but with no results... can you help me???
thanks in advance
hi. first of all, if your phone is sim locked, it not gonna work only with your sim but with every sim card of your network ( vodafone in your case); secondly i've never heard about something or somehow to sim-lock again a phone!!! ask Olinex, may be he knows!!! good luck
i didn't mean the general sim-lock like the branded phones have i mean maybe a lite app that runs when you start the phone and blocks you from using the phone if there is no sim or it isn'tt the sim you've previously registered...
aahhh okayyyy, you mean something like the nokia's phone locking if the sim is changed! i've understood now! i was looking for it me too but i've never found a bit! we'll stay in touch, if i find something intresting i'll tell you ciao

I got what you need but it is shareware [you have to pay for it].
It is for Wm 5 but i think that it will support higher too.
Did you search on google?

hi thanks for the reply guys
if you can use password protection why bother such thing!!!
okay, password may be broken by software, but same thing for any kind of security also.
anyway, a program can be written such as:
small memory residence program which will check the sim nr. in every few min.
if not matched, will enter into Airport Mode + screen lock
keep checking every few min.
if it matched the nr. stored before (encrypted) will unlock airport mode+screen
or the program will only trigger at the stratup or sim change
Hi All,
I have bought an unlocked HTC about 3 years ago, and basically, this works with any SIM. I have used it all over Europe, with no problems. However I am having trouble using it here in the UK.
Any ideas as to why this is happening?
How about some more information, eg what sim, what troubles, etc.

The SIM is Vodafone, and I cannot connect to the network, ie no calls or sms. I tried the SIM in another phone and it works. So it is the HTC that is giving problems. And I am sure that the HTC is unlocked, since I have tried other SIM cards when in Europe and all of them worked.
I have another SIM from Vodafone from another country in Europe, and it does not work either inside the HTC.
Possible cure?
If you don't have a SIM PIN, try setting one. If you already have one, skip that step. Then, try changing your screen security, for example from Slider to a PIN and then back to Slider.
I put a known good SIM in my phone in the UK and had no wireless connectivity until I forced the phone to ask me for my SIM pin while it was running (i.e., not on boot - rebooting didn't help). For some reason, changing the screen security triggered a request to enter the SIM pin, and then suddenly wireless was back.
I can't repeat the cause of the lost connectivity, but I have repeated this cure on subesquent occasions when I've lost wireless.
Take your HTC to Vodafone. There might be some settings missing.
