Does anyone know if there is a way to schedule syncing of exchange email? I have an 8525 and can receive my exchange mail but I have to send/receive manually. Can this be set to an automatic setting?

Well if your Exchange server doesn't support Direct Push then try Active Sync schedule.

Is active sync schedule an add on? Any idea where I can get it?
Thanks for the quick responses!

Open ActiveSync, under 'menu' you have all the options to configure your Exchange account here. You'll also see the Schedule option. For push email to work, you need to set the schedule to 'As items arrive' - or if this isn't available you can set your schedule times instead.

No POP3 on TP2???

Hi guys,
i just found out, my email provider wants me to pay for imap services, so i wanted to switch it to POP3 on my TP2, but there isnt any option to do so...
Does anyone know how to change from imap to pop???
You can't switch from imap to pop3. You'll have to remove your imap account from your Messaging app. Then add your pop3 account. Don't use the HTC Email Setup app. Do it manually in the Messaging app. Also remember to uncheck the box during setup that helps you to retrieve account settings automatically.
Finally found it
Had to use a different email and then rename it to web.de, cause my tp2 saved the web.de settings and used them again and again
Thanks alot

Just follow the 'Tools>NewAccount...>menu to get to the wizard, you'll then get an option to set up the account and on about screen 3 of this you will be asked if you want IMAP4 or POP3. I found it easier to disable the auto settings and go manual.

You mean you set up optonline account to Poutlook?
you don't mention your carrier but you need to get your POP & SMTP server settings from them. And don't let WinMo set up the account automatically. When you created the account WinMo sets it up using Optimum's servers, but you're actually running through your carrier's servers. Optimum works perfectly through WinMo.
Why use the webmail? Add it to your outlook and use the alternate port because they dont allow relaying...

Exchange Email and Out of Office?!

Hi all,
I hope you're all well...
I've set up my Exchange Email and it works fine but I keep getting "Unable to get your Out of office settings from the Exchange server right now. Please try again later" message...
Is there something I need to do??
Also, i set up my hotmail first and then this exchange account... The hotmail account comes first on the widget and then I have to manually choose the Exchange.. Is there a way to have the Exchange account show first??
Thanks for your help
What version of Exchange do you use? I wonder whether its a 2007 onwards feature.
Hi Ritdaw,
thanks for the message...
I've just checked and it's 2003?
That would be a huge shame if it is only supported by 2007......!?

Its quite possible that its only supported by 2007 onwards. I haven't seen any out of office functionality before on exchange activesync.
Someone may be able to confirm this if they are using 2007?

Remove the email-widget from the screen and then add it again. There is three options of how the widget should look. You choose the second option and will be asked which account shall be shown in the first place. Tap Exchange - et voilĂ !

I've set-up my Hotmail. When I receive an email it doesn't push it to my handset immediately. I've had a look in the settings but I don't understand what I need to change to that the emails are pushed as soon as they're received.
Please can anyone help?

Use the Hotmail app instead then, this support push notifications.
I use and would recommend "Touch down for smart phones" it is almost instant push notifications and seems to work very well i have been using it for 18 months now. The other option is to set up your hotmail to forward masks to your gmail account, this also works well.

Thanks for the replies. I will take a look at the other options you suggested although I would prefer to use the default app. I'm not keen on the Hotmail app.
Scotty mate, i had the same problem, the Hotmail app sorts it, and now I prefer it to the stock mail app.

I'll try it out for a bit, see how it goes.
In order to get true push email + IMAP for HOTMAIL use this settings:
Incoming settings:
Enter your email account and password Do no hit next, instead click Manual Setup Chose Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
In the Domain\Username field: delete everything and enter your email address In the Server field: enter m.hotmail.com Keep the box ticked for 'Use secure connection (SSL)' and keep the box unticked for 'Accept all SSL certificates'
Should do it.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Thank you wnp_79 that's a handy info.

Yes that worked a treat. Cheers mate!
I set-up my push email (hotmail) with the settings mentioned earlier in the thread. I thought it was working because I was receiving my mail. The thing is, I only get my emails when I click 'refresh' in the app. I sent myself an email from the PC and it wasn't pushed to the phone. Not sure were I'm going wrong. In the settings I have 'push mail' selected on peak & off peak. I have the data connection on. Does anyone have any idea what I need to change in the settings?
Anyone?
Using the email app or the Hotmail account in Account & Sync?
The email app wouldn't update for me either, and i've read a few posts from people with the same problem.
I just use the Hotmail Account to auto sync

Thanks for the reply. I managed to sort it out (with help from wnp_79). I downloaded the stock Android app and set up my account. The emails are pushed to the handset now.
Nae bother. So you can download the stock app from the Market? I'm guessing its just called Mail? It would be better to have that working than Mail and Hotmail both trying to sync, for battery life.
No the app is not on the market.
Here is the application.
Guide on how to set-up Hotmail manually on it. (Just in case)
Hope this helps.
Cheers dude

[Q] Email Disappears when I refresh list or close app...

Can anyone help. I have had this problem for a while but never tried to fix it but now discovered it is not only on my GNex but also my Tab 2....
Basically i have email via virginmedia.com, which i believe is all set up correctly with POP enabled etc and my phone/Tab 2 email client set up to never delete from server. Problem is the email comes to the devices fine and i can reply, send new email etc, but if i refresh the list to check for any new email, what was already in my inbox just disappears from my device, not into the bin, just gone for good!
I have Android 4.2.1 on the GNex ans 4.1 on the Tab 2.
Remember this is the general email client and I am on Virgin Media, this is not the Gmail email app, I do not use that.
Can anyone help with this problem, would really like to be able to get my email on the move without knowing I will lose it all straight away!
Thanks
Have you tried setting it up with imap instead of pop3?

How do i do that?
The phone email settings or the email setting for the Virgin Media client on the web?
You probably need to enable it in the settings on the virgin web page, and then complete the setup on your phone.

IMAP has the advantage of being kept on the server, and "syncs" to your other mail clients. For example, with POP3 if you delete a message from the inbox on your phone it will still be on the server (Virgin), but with IMAP the email on the server is deleted as well.
