HTC UNIVERSAL, JASJAR HOUSING NEED HELP!!

Hey so I purchased a new housing for my Universal and it arrives from Hong Kong with no instructions... I have replaced a few housings in the past but this by far is the most dificult.
I was wondering if anyone had any photos or instructions from a housing change they had done. I am right now stuck trying to remove the piece on top of the keyboard which ends up being bound to the motherboard by touchscreen connectors from the lcd. Any help would be great as I am truly in a bind.
Also, if anyone has any instructions on changing a housing on the MDA or any other IMATE/HTC product I could use those as well. THANKS.
I've changed my housing and it's pretty straight forward if you are careful and have the right tools.. A copy of the service manual with step by step disassembly and assembly is on the ftp site at..
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Universal/UNniversalL_Service_Manual_CONFIDENTIAL.pdf
The only problem I had was with the keyboard membrane in that it was slightly different to the old one. There are dimples that press against the membrane switched and these were in a different position on the space bar on the new membrane, so I found that the space bar didn't work and had to take the whole thing to pieces again. Also I found that the new housing didn't need three securing screws.
Anyway, It can be done just do it on a clear worktop with plenty of space.I printed out all the sheets and placed the disassembled part/screw on the relevant sheet, this stops screws getting mixed up!!
Going to give it a try right now. I appreciate it.
Hi Odyseus.Have you bought the keyboard too? I have found the housing but without keyboard(and mine's silver) in this shop in UK http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/10679.htm
I think it's a good idea to print out the sheets
I think the housing should come with a new keyboard pad? (Not the keyboard switch assembly. but the membrane with the keypads on).
Benbenben let us know how it goes. Why are you changing cases BTW? Different color or damaged?

Looking for Motherboard QTek 9000!?

Hello all Universal Users, I am Loooking for a Mother board for My Qtek 9000, maybe some one can help me to find one?
Are tey all the same Qtek->I-mate->Dopod...
Many Thanks,
Jean-marc.
All boards are the same, (only different branding, and of course G3/G4 difference)
need parts too !!!
Hello, If you can find a dead uni (with MB ok) we can buy it together , i need a part (little board next to the screen) for my second uni.If you find one, pm me (sorry for english, i'm french).
Good luck for your searches ...
My Mother-in-Law got my Exec wet... arrrgh!!!
so I have a water damaged one (not wet enough to blow the warning stickers though). The damage is only to the screen the M-board is fine & in fact the phone is fully functional unlocked and not subject to an insurance claim (more fool me for not insuring it!). The phone is less than a year old, the case has the usual pocket wear and a couple of tiny dents on the top most centre panel and one of the two little rubber bits by the led’s is missing
The damage is the screen has gone smokey and darkened and does not turn of the light fully as a result the battery life is shortened.
I needed total reliability for business trips to the Far East so I have had to move to another phone for a bit.
I had the whole thing apart to see if I could track the damage and repair it and as far as I can see it is just confined to the ribbons attached to the screen and digitizer. I am happy to break it for spares if you are interested.
Any parts (no guarantee offered) make me an offer – I even have the original box & manuals.
Wouldn't trust the screen or main ribbon - these are now available on ebay.
Happy to advise on dismantling,
Cheers,
Newton

Conductive Fabric

Hi,
Not really sure where to post this, Tried in the universal forum but with no success. Please move if its in the wrong place!
Does anyone know where i can get some of the conductive fabric that is used inside most of the HTC phones. I'm trying to repair a universal but have misplaced the fabric. I made a makeshift version with electrical tape and spare bits that i butchered of another phone but it just isn't the same - Screen is pretty messed up! I'm guessing its used as some kind of screen or ground thats common to a few components.
Found a supplier in Hong Kong but they only sell it in massive sheets (50m2 or something) and i don't need nearly that much
I've attached a picture so you can all see what i'm talking about.
Any help is much appreciated.
c'mon, no one?

[Q] How to tell what kind of LCD screen connector your evo has?

Hello I have a HTC evo that just got run over by a car and I need to change the LCD screen + digitizer.. when looking for a replacement on ebay I noticed there are 2 kinds of flex connectors, one is wide with 47pin, the other is narrow with 25pin. Without opening a non functional phone to psychically check which type of connector I have is there any other way to find out which kind I need?
Also does anyone know the best place to buy a replacement from a US seller?
Thanks in advance!
As stated in multiple threads before, the ONLY way to tell is to open the phone up and look. There are no other signs to see which is which, you just have to open it up and look.
And one thread is enough:

Well, it is doable, but still messy. Battery is placed UNDER the logic board which means you'll have to take it completely apart. It involves some heating, because both speaker covers are glued on with an adhesive, and only then you can start unscrewing the front. The logic board is connected with a staggering 10 (yes, ten) cables. After you remove the logic board, you'll have to be very careful with removing the battery, since it too is held in place with some adhesive to the back of the LCD screen.
Parts availability on the other hand is a different story. Battery should not be so hard to get I guess... I had to replace the logic board so I had all my berserker skills invested in finding that. Still very hard to get a logic board, at least for any other make than the Verizon. I was lucky to get my hands on with a little help from a friend that works at a HTC service center. Other than that, you'll just have to get creative I'm afraid.
Replacing the motherboard is pretty simple, the hardest part is actually getting to it. Removing the back is a pain in the butt.
You can buy all the parts you need at etradesupply.
The speaker grills come over easily. Then there are 2 phillips and 4 t4/5 screws. Pry it open(Watch some videos for some tips)
For the main motherboard I believe there are 6 ribbon cables attached to the main board, and another 3 attached to the sister board.
If you're technologically inclined and can use a screwdriver you should be fine.
