Fading Backlight - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hi guys.
i already searched the forum, but didnt found anything. your work with the roms is really great, but i miss a cool feature. is it possible to "fade out/in" the backlight instead of just turning off ? this would be a really cool effect. is it possible to hack the regitry a little to do this ? or any other ideas ?

i think that is possible with hw capacitators, but soldering smd capacitators on BA mobo is a little risk....
if someone can refute i would be happy

Fade out effect when launching something from TouchFlo

Hey there!
I have seen videos, before the blackstone was released, showing that when you launched some app from touchflo it would fade the screen to black .. I have never seen this on my own blackstone, but it is probably becuase it was to unstable to release it on stock rom .. But is it possible to get ? It looks sweet..
Heres a video that shows what i mean.. look around 2:05 when he launches Opera:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aiw5PsQ50Uc
How do we get this eyecandy ?
that looks great.. but why we don't have this ???

i do not know ! but my suggestion is that it was removed from stock rom, maybe because of laggy performance or something ? Don't know.. but it would be nice to have !

as you can see, we don't know if this little feature exists...
Still no ideas? I have also noticed that in that video all TF3D tabs have a fade in effect, which was also removed.
afdvanced configuration tool allows animations and such like?
I heard that HTC decided to delete this animations in case of having a better performance. Unfortunately.... I would like to have it in my device.
That devide is a test device (it has the HTC logo on ther upper left corner), and HTC removed it.
This will be such a nice addition, pitty it's taken off.
We know that. We were just wandering if it could be restored some way, maybe extracted from an old ROM or whatsoever...
I would not be one bit surprised if there is such a feature hidden somewhere in Registry with a big bad "0" on the end, waiting for someone to turn it to "1"...
...and which will be discovered when the HD is getting obsolete...
gotta find that register !! LOL
Damn that looks darn good. Mewants.

[Q] SGS Blackberry-ish lock/unlock phone

Hi there,
Coming from a Blackberry Bold 9700 and being now the proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S, I have to confess I miss a tiny little feature that I had with the BB and that the SGS doesn't have: when I used to put my BB in its case, it would lock the phone automatically.
Well, I know that is an old feature of all BB and that it works via a magnetic mechanism of some sort.
My question is: would it be possible to develop such a feature for the SGS, using the proximity sensor?
Or... is there any existing app that already does this?
FYI, I use this case: http://www.amazon.co.uk/GENUINE-KRU...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1284032013&sr=8-1
Thanks!
Benny
One small question: is this topic in the appropriate forum or should it be in the "Android Development" one?
This could really belong in any of the forums, it's about accessories, an application for locking the phone, and the development of such an application. Congrats, for what it's worth!
But...I don't think this is possible. I'm just another uneducated user though, so what do I know!
This looks cool :

Thanks for the info, Danesh!
That tool seems to be quite perfect for the job. But I'm afraid it does not work with my (and, I assume, any) SGS...
Can someone take a look at it and see if it can be modded in order for it to work?
Thanks a bunch!

Oh, ok... But that kind of defeats the purpose I intended to use it for.
Sorry to be such a pain, but is there someone who can enable the sensor to do its job even with no headphones plugged in?
Thanks again!

Im currently creating such an app. Heres wht imma implement :
Using orientation sensor + proximity sensor, if ur phone is in vertical position and proximity sensor returns a 0 for 5s, then the screen turns off (haven't implemented this part yet).
So far i have it working where it sets the brightness to 0 when its dark for 5s, and sets to original brightness when its not dark. Will keep u posted.
Edit : I might not do orientation sensing, cuz tht'll cause too many variations where its not fathomable.
Neone know of any private api's or nething tht allows an app to disable screen ? Might open tht guys app to see.

Thanks again.

hi there.
first of all i think u dont need something like that .. i was a bb user too.. and trust me u dont need.. sgs touch screen only respond to finger.. u can try pen.. or try touching it with your clothes or trew your clothes the screen and see that nothing hapens GL.. so why is necesary the magnetic lock? i dont see the point
I suppose you could set something like this up with Tasker? Using the orientation sensor?

Not exactly sure what you mean by this, but the question has been asked lots of times (just do a search on keyboard backlight) as many people complain about it. No great solution so far though unless you install a custom ROM (I know CM6 allows you to customize all of the backlight levels) or cover up your light sensor to keep it lit...
Alternatively, I think there they might be some apps on the market like Power Manager that keep the backlight on, but I have tried any since I use CM6...
ok thanks, i'm running virtuous but idk if its possible to customize it, ill check it out and search the market otherwise thx!
It would only turn off if there's lots of light. There's no timer.

not talking about a timer, just the sensitivity of the sensor regarding the lighting on keys.... it just goes of to quick imo....

Live wallpapers ONLY on lockscreen (and NOT on homescreen)?

Hi everyone,
I know that there are similar topics around, but these didn't answer my question.
I would like to have a live wallpaper only in my lockscreen, and a regular one on my homescreen. I tried dozens of apps, including LockBot, but these didn't solve it.
So, does anyone know an app like this? Or another way to do it? Thanks in advance
no one that can help?
Yeah, I'm looking for the same thing!

Does the button have a rotary encoder?

well.. the topic says it all, really. Does the button/crown have a rotary encoder attached to it somehow? I'm thinking that if so, then it could be a good way to control things such as brightness or audio volume if it were able to be interfaced somehow...

Well, that's crummy then. Thanks! I couldn't find the answer anywhere!
But that's a good idea! Maybe Huawei take note....
