I have find a vodafone PDA V1605 when i was in france and I want to unlock the phone and change the windows mobile instead of french to english language now I have a usb cable and I had download all the programs that I need to unlock BUT i don't have the drivers and software of the original phone so i can't do anything when I try to unlock the phone with HERM_Unlock_v3 its says:
"this application has failed to start because RAPI.dll was not found. re-installing the aplication may fix this problem"
1: how do I re-install the RAPI.dll
2. how can I re-install windows mobile in english
3: with the HERM_Unlock_v3 is adapted to unlock
SPL 1.06???
4: how can I change all instead of VODAFONE to ORANGE?

I have a spanish vodafone v1640 and i want to change the ROM by using UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship.exe
I have followed the steps from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=45874 but all I achieve is that error (120 incorrect country ID).
The Rom is in english but the phone is spanish, should that be a problem? I already made a backup.

hi quintus.. hmm maybe you can try to upgrade again when u get the error country id, sometimes you need to run 2 times of the upgrade so that i will be successful. just try out c if this works..

Not sure if this applies but when doing the radio ROM upgrade I also got the country ID error. I just ran it immediately again without doing anything else. Worked fine. :lol:

i fixed my Vodafone V1640 today after a long and hard work
first download WM6.1 or 6.5 then get the original ROM for your
PPC in my was vf-uk_v1640_aku2_v130194_wwe_ship. extract
both to two separate folders (WIN RAR) copy the full content of
the subfolder “OutputFile” and paste in the WM6 folder, it will ask
if you will want to replace “nk.nbf” click yes. go to boot loader mode
and install…..

Unlocking the phone will make a number of options available to you such as using a different network SIM card etc. If the phone has been blocked by the network (usually - but not allways due to theft or it being reported lost) - there is very little you can do with it - Mike

Hi there, is there anybody in Nederland who tried the mentioned www.imei-check.co.uk/c3unlock.php for a dutch T-mobile compact3 ?
I unlocked my German MDA Compact III With imei check some months ago and it worked perfectly. Now SIM Free and i installed the official german O2 WM6 Image without any trouble and without using USPL or anything like this.
you should always be able to install the official roms without using USPL. but then again, if your phone is SIM unlocked, it's also CID unlocked and doesnt need USPL anymore (at least that's how i understand it )

I've purchased O2 XDA Zinc in Arabian. I'm living in Russia now.
When I open the box, get the PDA and turn them on I've got screen like this:
mars II eboot ver......
h/w version v1.4
******** usb loader ***********
diskonchip g4 128mb
start downloading image...
please plug-in usb cable...
And that's all... Now I can't go to Arabian to change my PDA and there is no service center that can fix it in Russia
I tried soft and hard reset and no effect.
When I connect PDA to PC the new hardware "Asus USB sync" appear in system, but Active Sync does not recognise them (I have 4.5 version).
All o2 zinc upgrade software are working with active sync and available os and i can't use them.
I've extracted binary filles from update exe, larger of it i've rename to MarsII_G4.ABI and put it on SD. But after insterting card and restarting nothing happens.
I also have some knowledge of elelectronic.
So, please help, how can I fix my PDA?

find another ppc first
find a dos app and rename it to devicespy.exe and make it readonly
transfer it to windows directory of other ppc and plug it to pc via mini usb and activesync 4.5
download and run any zinc rom from seeo2
if you did it well the upgrade software cant recognize the device type so continue update progres until your ppc get reset.
replace that ppc with your zinc and update will continue to end and your zinc will be fin.
choose any lang you wish.
You'd better visit www.seeO2.com
and register with your IMEI.
Then you can download WM5 or WM6 official rom.

it is suddenly dead wen connected to notebook via activesync.
yes.. it is SUDDENLY DEAD.
i'm doing nothing.
i have been trying to entering bootloader (by pressing right d-pad plus soft reset), but the bootloader doesn't show up.
doing hard reset, but nothing happen. still dead.
one thing that works is...
there is blinking orange LED when i connected zinc with wall charger (without battery inserted)
and there is orange LED (showing up about 3-5 secs) when i connected zinc with wall charger (with battery inserted)
anyone can help me solving this?

I've upgraded my O2 zinc form WM5 to WM6 but in next restart after the upgarde the device hang during the booting and only shows the splash screen of Windows Mobile 6 ,,Now is there any way to recover form that?
can i delete the current ROM which i guess it's the main cause for killing my PDA ,i want to reinstall WM5 but ofcourse Microsoft ActiveSync can't connect to my O2 since it didn't log to the PDA didn't start windows .

I've been reading this forum and the internet for about 4 days now,
hence I post this question...
I have an HTC P3300 (Artemis) and tried flashing windows mobile 6.5 onto the ROM..
it reached about 56% when the usb cable got unplugged and the flash failed.
I can get it into bootloader mode...
I'm from India and the original carrier was Idea.(I suppose so, because it had an Idea screen for a few seconds when the phone was switched on)
I used to use a Vodafone SIM, so I guess it was already CID unlocked.
Tried flashing various roms.. including the HTC windows mobile 6.0 worldwide edition, the t-mobile edition and the sprint edition from this site, after putting it into bootloader mode.
Windows Mobile Device Center will obviously not run, as the phone doesnt go beyond displaying this :

OS 1.27.0.0
I havent done a HardSPL and I suppose that the ROM flash only changed the OS ... everything else was probably the same.
I can't get mtty to work via USB....nonetheless, I have no clue how to use mtty.
Here are the filenames of the ROMs i've tried:
1. Evolution 23820 ...(downloaded off some site with windows mobile screenshots that got me all "WOW!")
2. Artemis Vanilla 2.0 WWE
3. ART_TMOUK_11311001_024990_WWE_Ship_R3.exe ..(T-mobile)
4. HTC_P3300_WWE_3.13.405.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship_R.exe ..(this one should have worked)
5. HTC_P3300_NLD_3.13.404.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship_R.exe ..(this one's probably german)
6. Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 (some .uif cd image that i downloaded off rapidshare..about 65 MB)
7. Opal_WM6.5_D24_21901_COM2_WWE (I know I shouldn't have tried this, but this was my first attempt after successfully updating a touchviva to windows mobile 6.5, but I was a complete n00b back then..)
I tried all these ROMs mostly using a "ROM Update Utility" included with the package..
I also tried getting the .nbh files out and putting them on a 1GB microSD after renaming them "ARTEIMG.nbh" ...it used to say "Checking SD card".. and then would show the RGB bootloader again with :
IPL 3.07.0001
SPL 3.07.0000
Errors I received while flashing through USB :
1. Invalid Vender ID (390)
2. Connection Error (260)
it generally stops at 3%
What should I do now?

ouhh doesnt look very good. but happens aaand can be solved.
try this:
Hardreset your phone
or reinstall the originalrom in bootmode: link
please keep care of the usb cable. or try to reflash your phone via sd-card. its very easy and less dangerous.
tried both
hard reset lands u to the same place.. HTC logo and IPL SPL GSM OS...
installing the rom from the link given ... shows a connection error(in bootloader mode)
and did you try to install another rom via sd card.

You have to first unlock your device by uspl and then install the rom or simple way is by using sd card. Search the forum for upgrading Artemis by sd
ok, but how do i use uspl if all i can get to is bootloader mode?????
i thought that u need to have windows mobile running well to use uspl...

well.. you people kept me searching for answers...
i found the original rom at an htc south asia site.. windows mobile 6.0
the htc artemis p3300 is also called "dopod" on that site...
anyway... the only reason i couldnt get to it in the start was that it said the cellphone serial number i'd entered wasn't eligible for the update..
i just messed with the last few digits (interchanged them) and got it to accept the download...
that was plain lucky,...
but it wouldve never happened if i hadn't tried..
now.. i'm going to do an artemis uspl via windows mobile device center according to the guides on various fora..
