Mobile Outlook: Appointments & Adding Subjects to Drop Down Menu? - P3300, MDA Compact III General

I want to make some custom subjects in the drop down menu when making a new appointment instead of having to type it out all the time.
How would I go about doing this?

(Happy) Easter Eggs in WM6

WM6 Easter Eggs - WM6 Features (search terms)
This is a list of new and little known features in WM6.
Please add any I miss to this thread and I will try to put them in this post (with credit of course)
1. Typing on the keyboard on the today screen will automatically bring up the phone with matching contacts. Certain phone skins do not support this and you will just get a text box with scroll bars covering half the screen but nothing in it. If this happens switch your phone app with the Tweak app (varies depending on who’s WM6 you are running)
2. From Messaging (Outlook, SMS, MMS, [POP/IMAP? not tested] ) if you start typing it will search through your messages for whatever you type. Hold “H” for a list of shortcuts. I think the shortcut keys mean hold that letter.
3. Under calendar; If you create a new appointment and decide you don’t want it, you can now pres menu and cancel (cancel was not in wm5)
4. When typing in WiFi keys (WPA, WEP, whatever) you can actually see what you are typing instead of just ******.
5. The new feature I found that I love is if you go into the options for the calendar you can now set it to start in Month view (or whatever view you prefer). I couldn't stand the fact that WM5 kept reverting back to agenda!
(Thanks chymmylt!)
6. The camera finally keeps adjustments like contrast and sharpness saved.
Previously if you soft reset or power off and on the phone, these settings would always revert back to the defaults.
(Thanks abubasim!)
7. In Contacts, when you edit a contact you now have 'File As' useful if you want Forename Surname instead of the default Surname, Forename
(Thanks nbedford! [I installed the "File As" plugin and never noticed that it the ability to change it was built in =)] )
8. In Outlook, if you [Reply All] by default it copies your own email address into the recipient list, so you receive your own mails, even if you auto-save them already in Sent Folder. I found that extremely annoying because with every [Reply All] I had to manually remove my email address before sending.
You can avoid this easily:
1. Programs -> ActiveSync
2. Menu -> Options
3. Select the E-mail information type and tap Settings
4. Tap Advanced
5. Enter the e-mail address you want to remove when replying to all senders in My e-mail addresses
(Thanks aublumberg, This applys to WM5 also but not to many people know this one.)
Let me know if this is a waste of space, and if not, lets keep this thread on topic and point out all the fun reasons to use WM6.
Later, Lew
thanks. couple those i didnt know about.
not quite "easter eggs" though are they
thanks for sharing this information
i found the firts two points very usefull, and (correct me if i'am wrong) due to the lack of a propper wm6 manual i think this thread comes quite handy

Bump for added Features.
Not new, but little known and well hidden:
- press and hold the action button
- tap and hold the clock in the title bar until the dots stop moving
- when you release both the stylus and the action button, you get a small menu with an "execute" (or "run") entry. Tap that to get sort of a command line prompt.
Cheers
Daniel
Very nice thread. thnx for the little hints

WIKI Pls
In the interest of WIKI and promoting the use of knowledge being written once and used many times, there is already a knowledgebase for this with lots of stuff, if you can add yours and close this, everybody will know where to go for their easter eggs...

Tap and hold the clock on the title bar lets you switch between digital and analog disply - no idea that happened until now!
I guess, you already know this...
Pressing the "power button" for 3 seconds turns off (not just standby) the device (with WM2003 it wasn't possible...)
This is probably an old one but I didn't know it myself until Googling for it:
In Solitaire, open the on-screen keyboard, tap Ctl and Shift and then Deal. It gives you the perfect hand.
Source: The Easter Egg Archive. The site has a few more . . . of which this one is the only one that seems to be working.

Configure Calendar settings / Defaults

Is it possible to configure / add more options into the "Subject" drop down when making or editing an appointment in the Calendar ?? in wm6.1
I need to enter 1 of 3 options for every single day of the year, it would be so much easier to be able to add these to the drop down to select each time to save me from typing them out.
Ive had a look but still cant find where or how i would add to this drop down field.
Hoping some of you guys / girls out there will know how to. ??

[REQ] Tasks on Sense 2.1/2.5 home tab?

I know custom tabs for Manila has been discussed many times before, including one for tasks. But my question is different - is there a way to add tasks on home tab? Like replacing the call history or calendar entries. That's the only thing I've always missed in Manila - seeing if I have any active/due tasks right after I unlock my screen.
None interested?!
I'm definitely interested! I have no idea how to do it but I would love to see it. I've thought about this many times.
Well, obviously it makes only two of us. It seems is either unwanted and/or impossible..
+1 pls.
Sorry I have no clue how to do this
Yup, +1 here, makes 4.......
I don't know of a possibility to add tasks, but you can use this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=602221
You can place a today plugin, like TodayAgenda or some other Tasks app. to cover up for example the calendar part on the home screen. Or you can add it to the Operator tab.

This is actually pretty straight forward if you follow the steps correctly. This is the way I did it to put messaging on the home screen.
Install the 2D TodayPage cab
Stop TouchFlo (Start > Setting > Home > Items and unselect TouchFlo)
Soft reset (may not be necessary but better in my mind)
Run M2Dtp config from programs page
Press and hold the red area next to plugins lable
Select Tasks (or whichever you want)
Leave Window at Window_00
Set x=10 y=240 w=220 h=60
Choose M2D widget page (Home)
press apply
press menu
press OK
Start TouchFlo (Start > Setting > Home > Items and select TouchFlo)
Switch to another tab then back to home and it should be there.
NOTE: You may need to experiment with the X (Left) ,Y (Top),W (Width), and H (Height) but they should place your plugin right after the calendar
How about Sense2.5.1922
Yeah.. well, I am more interested in latest Manila 3D - Sense 2.1/2.5. Apologies for not specifying that. Adding it to the title.
I change the right soft-key of the Home tab in my Sense 2.1 to "Tasks"..
So, if I want to see my tasks, I just tap the right soft-key..
I would also really like to get Outlook Tasks incorporated into Sense!
As part of the 'home tab', the 'calendar tab' or as a separate 'tasks tab'; either, some or all are fine with me ;-)
It surprises me that Microsoft has downplayed Outlook Tasks in WinMo. In Outlook it is easily accessible and a really useful tool for 'appointments or To-Do's that are not strictly time-specific'. That at least is how I use tasks.
Therefore it is really annoying that you have to open a separate app (either MS' own or something like pTasks) to access them in WinMo.
To have Outlook Tasks show up in the calendar I have to use a full-blown program like Pocket Informant.
It's also strange to me that HTC has overlooked the incorporation of Outlook Tasks in their otherwise excellent Sense-UI!
I'm even surprised that the great programmers frequenting this fine forum seemingly does not think that Outlook Tasks is worth incorporating into Sense.
Apart from the ease of access that comes with incorporation into Sense it would also enhance the general 'user experience' to be able to access Outlook Tasks in the same UI that lets you access the other Outlook-functions like mail and calendar!
Hopefully someone will recognize this 'oversight' and remedy the situation soon ;o)
Does anybody know how to make Tasks beeing displayed on home tab? (the way appointments and other calendar entries are)
Shortcut to Tasks is not the way out - it would be perfect to have 'to do list' always on, under the clock

Hello!
It seems what you are using lua scripting in your mod? Can you create mod with tasks instead of appointments?
I'm not the only one who dreaming about such mod . There are many people using tasks without any appointments...

Argg, I really need tasks on home page.
I'm about to remove Sense from my device and go back to WM today screen just because I can see tasks...
I agree to the best solution I found is installing pTask and make shortcut on the homescreen.

MyState Beta Testing

Introduction
Android Version:
ICS+ (4.0.3+)App Name:
MyState (as in Status) - I haven't really decided whether it should be "MyState Messaging", "MyState Status Messaging", "MyState Status Sharing". Maybe you have a a suggestion?!Synopsis:
MyState provides a free 140 character messaging / broadcast service.
The app is an invite only private messaging system that allows you to broadcast single/group messages to friends (followers). The system doesn't actually need followers to be of use, and can perform as a diary, allowing you to leave messages along with emotional feedback.
The system is ideal for messaging 1-0, 1-1 or 1-many people. 1-0 would be you leaving messages for yourself. 1-1 would be you and a friend, and 1-many would be considered a broadcast.
You can only be sure of who you follow, all people that follow you are anonymous to you. What this means is that you should only share your invitaion to people you want following you. That said you can revoke your invitations at any time, stopping followers from getting your updates.
You can use the system not only as a messaging service but also to let others know what your current status is, be that you may be offline, don't want to talk or away for example.
MyState is an easy to use and dare I say it, fun way to communicate with people you really want to connect with.Market:
Probably early teen to mid 20's but I'm no marketeer. It may be fun for the whole family for all I know!

[Q] Need help restricting text length, Margins in Rich Text aren't working

Firstly, I *love* ZWP and have been using it religiously.
With my new Nexus 5, however, I decided to make a new widget to match the current phone instead of my previous setup. I like having my next 3-4 calendar appointments shown in a list with dates and times and the heading, in the #C0SEEE dd - HH:mm# #C0TITLE# format. Some appointments though have longer titles and interfere with other items I have entered into the widget.
I tried using the new Rich Text feature and setting margins to various lengths and setting lines to 1, but a long appointment title still bleeds over into the next portion of my layout.
What am I missing?

You should consider using the [tr]-tags to limit your field to a certain amount of characters. Usage example in your case would be
Code:
#C0SEEE dd - HH:mm# [tr=30]#C0TITLE#[/tr]
This would limit the output of the title to 30 characters and put three dots at the end to indicate the string is longer than what is displayed. You'll have to play around a bit to find the right limit for your particular setup though.
For future references, you can find all the available tags for Rich Text Modules here.
Hope this helps you out
