Crossbow on Orbit - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Anyone know how to install Windows Mobile ( CrossBow ) on the orbit?

if you can't use search on the forum you are unlikely to be able to figure out how to install crossbow.
edit - you have already posted in the thread that says no-one has done it yet?? Why start another one?

1 i cant be assed to search
2 can it be done
3 ur gay

1. Don't expect an answer then
2. Use the search
3. What are you 12 years old?
Even if you are too stupid to search - are you too stupid to read the thread you actually posted in about this topic?

Please be careful when calling people stupid as it can be demeaning to millions of others, remember the politically correct society we all must live in these days!!
But the search isn't a bad thing to try and use, understanding the results can be difficult at times though! - Mike

look ladies, one guy calls another guy gay, so the other guy calls him stupid, sounds fair to me

Cingular 8525 WM6 Update Article

Just ran across this article on Cingular/ATT approving the 8525 for a WM6 upgrade later this year. I wonder when they will make the formal announcement?

Nice second post....posting a month old engadget article, that has already been
Punch "engadget" into the search for this forum, and you'll find 5 threads that discuss this.
Things are going from bad to worse on these forums, the amount of new threads started without any good reason is getting out of hand.
Why people do not spend an hour or so searching and reading before posting and leaving themselves open for ridicule is beyond me.

I think posts like this bright blue one lower the quality of the forum more so than a repeat thread with good intentions. My 2 cents.

For what it is worth, not much, my opinion is I would rather see the same questions asked and answered civilly 20 times than see the flaming that is going on all too much right now.
New users are discovering this site all the time. That is actually a good thing. Many of them don't know how to use the site. Explain it to them, help them become contributing members. Some of them will not ... there will always be people willing to leach off a system but some of them might be our next big contributor.
If you don't want to answer a post that has been asked before, simply ignore it. Others will step in to help ... or not. It is the lack of civility that is causing all of the ruckus around here not the repeated questions.

Get a grip mate, if you are new to something you do not jump in with both feet! I do help people when the problem is something that is obscure and is not easy to find, but for christ's sake having the same thread posted time after time gets really annoying when it takes 5 minutes to find the answer. I have personally made cab files available at least 3 times for certain questions, without all the other postings by other people.
Having new threads made for the same question also knocks existing threads down one notch making it harder to find answers when you are looking for something. How you can you justify sticking up for these idiots is beyond me, it makes you look as dumb as them.
"Ohh whaaaa, whaaa, sniff sniff, newbies are ruining our forums with stupid questions and not searching..." Shut up already. You were a newbie too once... you didn't just magically appear on this forum with 100's of posts.

Yes of course I was a nOOb once,
BUT....... I did not come here asking a lot of dumb ass questions when I started, and pissing people off with the sort of questions a 10 year old kid with some pc ability could find the answers to with one eye shut.

Well, if asking for civility makes you dumb then count me guilty as charged.
Your argument does not hold much water. You are saying it only takes 5 minutes to find your answer in search. In fact, that is probably about right by my experience.
On the other hand you are angry with them because their post makes you look down an extra line or maybe even click a button to go to the next page to get to the thread you are looking for. That makes you sound like a bit of a hypocrite. You want them to spend 5 minutes searching so you don't have to be put out by clicking on a button to go to the next page? Think about that for a moment.
I am just saying don't flame them because that will not stop new users from asking silly questions. If your intent is to make some other user not ask a stupid question, you are probably wasting your effort. You are not going to affect the next new user that does not read because they will not read your post to know they will get flamed if they ask a stupid question.
If your intent is to get that person to search, simply tell them it is available in search and make them look. They will learn and you will still accomplish your task of teaching them to read without runing off new users who's first experience here otherwise will be to get a flame back with f*** this you so and so read the GD wikki.
We all want this site to grow, that will happen by welcoming new users not scaring them off.

My last comment:-
Perhaps we should have a seperate section where all nOObs can post called the nOOb section, then you can help them with their dumb and repetative questions, while the rest of us can get on with the more serious issues.

I understand your frustration my friend. I am really a smarta** and flamer at heart I have just seen too much of it here. We spend as much time flaming the nOObs as we do contributing and the site is losing some value as a result. I just don't want to see a good thing die.
Have a good day ... see you around the site.
Forget flaming
hay all of you flaming nerds, who cares if they did not search, this thread still seemed to have attracted users even if it is dumb didn't it!!!!!!
there are more flaming posts on this site than regular posts and dumb questions combined, for every dumb question there are 30 flames.
Oh you poor people your poor little eyes have to read one extra line of words, "oh dear there is an extra word i have to read i'm a-gettin the vapors!!"
You spend way way way more time writing flames than you actaully do skipping the dumb question and moving on. or try something different and instead of being an a-hole actually help the newb find their way around.
by flaming you are showing that you are immeasurably more stupid than the one asking the dimb questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
any way, i wouldn't mind having a cingular rom since:
1. I have cingular on my unlcoked tytn
2. I can get push to talk unlimited for 10 bucks
3. I can care less about having the side button mapped to voice command, i can do that from my headet (plus if you are using voice command to dial a number right there from your handset instead of speed dial or contacts, you are just lazy)
It's amazing how seriously some take these internet forums.
So the guy is new and posted some old information, so what? It's probably happened a thousand times, correct?
Just move on and save the high blood pressure for something that really matters...
This is an absolutely freaking waste of space thread...
For the senior members please dont flame, it only makes it worse, just ignore them and they will go away since their questions dont get answered, might actually force them to read and search...
@the N00bs... READ AND SEARCH before making usless threads.. and if you dont like the rules then go elsewhere... Now when someone tries to search for a cingular WM6 8525 rom they are going to pull up several threads of the same topic.. THIS IS A WASTE OF TIME all because you were to lazy to search...
And in the case of this thread... Do you really think a month old engadget story that involves the hermes (8525) and WM6 would have somehow missed this forum... hmmmm not likely!

[Q] What does "Dodexed" mean?

Okay I rooted my EVO about a week or so ago and Im running the Frost ROM... I like it but I would like to check out some other ROMs and what kind of addons or MODs that are available... I keep running across the term "dodexed" and "odexed"(?) i think is what it was...Can some one please explain to me what that means...
Also what is the differance in Sense and non sense ROMs... What is aosp??
Any clairification would be helpful...
Thanks
Dude you have over one hundred posts. And they're all questions about this and that. Are you aware of the fact that there is a search bar for these forums. I have seen this question asked a lot of times. Hell I even wondered but I searched before starting a thread about it.
Dude, put in the effort and do the work. Only good things will come from doing a little research.

haha deathsled beat me to it. seriously though... i believe (not sure) that this is correct.
dont quote me on it. correct me if i'm wrong.
so each apk has a matching .odex file that contains stuff for it. if you flash a theme a theme (altering framework-res.apk or other app) then the odex and apk dont match and you get system failiure. so odexed roms are unthemeable. i think thats about right. google it (thanks deathsled)
ahhh got it. google is friend. posted by berzerker

so baisically odex is compressed more and deodexed allows for themeing.

Seems like this kind of thing is all to common in the open source scene. Same type response was given on email lists when someone asked for help back in the 90s when trying to stuff linux on an old 386 box for the s&gs. Open source is teh 1337z!!!1! All the flaming doesn't bother me, I can play this game all day long! I have done more than enough searching to be immune to this kind of treatment... I had a million questions in the begining and I only posted a few specific questions... and even though one can search the forums for an answer to a specific problem, more than some ppl here on XDA can't explain things clearly enough to be of any help to any one - skipping steps and being vague doesn't really help any one but yourself to raise your post count. Needless to say, most threads are useless... they 'cause more confusion than solutions. I'll keep doing what I want and you can keep flaming me 'cause you are better than me & I need a laugh every now and then...

try asking on the irc. very helpful and knowledgable people there.

Repeat threads - potential reason

ok, so over the last few days ive been thinking, is there a reasons why people keep posting the same question time after time. Then the other day over at the WP7 on teh HD2 forum i thought i might have an answer
yes this is an english based site, we all know that, no ones questioning that, however is there a a chance that people simply do not understand the english on the website its self, forget the threads, im talking the website.
so for instance, you type in a new thread name and it comes up with a selection of possible threads already out there, well, if your grasp of english isnt that good then perhaps you dont understand what that is going on about.
So i was wondering, is there a way to get the website to change to different languanges, just site, not the forums, posting a new thread would bring up the same list of alternatives out there but it would have a line or two detailing what users should try to do first, in there language.
yes yes a lot of work but the simple fact is, people dont read whats available on here, potentially because they dont understand it, the search isnt great, and if you dont speak or read english too good than your on to a bad start, then you will get a torrent of abuse from over critical members which gets everyone elses back up
anyhow just a thought
Hmmm ... I don't think it would change anything. We can all notice the same issues on our native languages forums so this is not a matter of people who don't understand English.
Same questions and threads are posted as people are just lazy and don't want to search. They think a forum is a place to post their own question even if it has been posted 100 times before, not to search. Just look at the number of threads that start with "Sorry if it has already been posted but I don't have the time to read previous pages or search the forum".

who gets a thrill out of being a D*** to people?

I just wanted to post because i see on most threads theres usually someone has to be a cheeky arrogant **** to someone that is simply asking for help and doesn't have much knowledge.
My understanding was you came here for help and support and to try and help others is it not? But yet, when people ask for help they often get slaughtered for various reasons such as: wrong section, repeated thread, not searching properly, using the wrong punctuation etc (the last one was exagerated a bit but it wouldnt surprise me)
Basically before i came here years ago I would not have even known what Root is/does, why you would flash different ROMs etc and i have learned everything thanks to XDA and the various genious' that make it all possible.
I just dont think its right the way some people THINK they can talk/treat others and it is certainly uncalled for.
For example when i first came here I had the Xperia X10 and was very interested in the work and came across a problem when flashing someones ROM but I didnt have enough posts to reply so had to start a thread in General asking for help and the response i got you think i had just launched a nuke and killed thousands.
I know i will probably get slaughtered for this but basically i think this is a problem that should be addressed and no one else will say anything about it so i will!
And one final thing i cant understand. What could possibly make you feel good about making a **** out of others??? If you are one of these people could you kindly do me a favour and go play chicken with an incoming 12 Gauge Round from point blank range. That is all
i know some.. i can name them too.. neh, they know themselves..
Yup, one of my pet hates when the more experienced members on sites (not just here) are rude to new members.

Use Search, you'll save thousands (of posts).
You could've used search and save us from another thread talking about helpful people
It relieves stress being a **** to others online knowing you won't get shot for it afterwards. Words from a stranger can't hurt enough for it to be an actual problem can it? There are now two active similar threads on this issue.

Quoted for truth.
When I joined XDA I took a couple days and just searched for what I needed, learned as much as I could and THEN asked questions.
The problem here is many of the veteran users are tired of people coming in, and in their first ever post asking for something that if they literally did 5 minutes of searching would find.
As well if you are not technical or its hard for you to understand what you're doing and why, you should reconsider rooting your phone as there is nobody but this place to come help you fix it if you screw up. And while yes it is simple to do, its also easy to screw up.
So the vets see these people come in, ask (or sometimes demand) step by step instructions because they have no clue, and have proven they can't take 5 minutes to try and figure it out themselves. They are now jaded to it after it happens at least 4 or 5 times a week, so cut them some slack.
Answer me this. Would you go out, buy a Corvette, then decide you want to supercharge it so you go to the local corvette club meet. Walk in and say "which of you guys is gonna tell me exactly how to put this supercharger on my car, and I've never turned a wrench in my life." Seriously, what happens here is the digital equivalent.

+1. I find it much faster/easier using google to search xda than the actual xda search function.
I also did the same as Rogue Leader. I spent a few days scanning through alot of threads before posting and i found most of the answers i were looking for.
Everyone understands that newbs have to start somewhere (since i was a newb/still am lol when i got the xplay) but surely most people will have been on a fourm before? Or have used google to search before? No excuses really.
In the time it takes for someone to reply or after the flaming has stopped they could have easily found the answer they were looking for.

What you decide to do or not to do does not depend on others action or doing here on xda. You choose to be rude and a ****. How come you feel this resentment. You most have an anger problem and they are just easy targets for ventilating that agro. Who are you to judge others wheter they derserve a flaming or not. You clearly state your own level of knowledge in your own post and you can whine all day long and lay the responsebility on them for you being a ****. I'm gobsmacked over people like you, you take as little responsebility as the multi posters does. Learn how to behave or shut up and don't bloody answer nor look in those threads. Do yourself that favor.

That one was definitely me... But, I am pretty sure I didn't have those mistakes in the original post.
That could have all been me But that definitely was a time when there was like 100 threads asking the same question and you decided to make a whole new thread even though there were several threads just below yours that had already been answered.
I am one of those people who actually will ask google before asking the internet for answers, and it has saved me a lot of flames.
ALSO, you posted the same thread twice, maybe three times and I fkn hate people who think they will get more attention by the continuous posting of the same question! Just like the 12 year old who has been posting multi-threads asking how to fix his wi-fi in all the forums.
TBH you still annoy me... Must be the "acting innocent" thing... Grinds my gears, bro.

I totally agree.
When I first joined here, I found the arrogance and rudeness of certain members truley awful.
Worse, people seemed to follow these 'respected' members like sheep.
It is like this most places on the internet, keyboard warriors are aplenty.

Since then I have found many nice, helpful and knowledgable people on these forums and have learnt to ignore the billy big shots.

Anal beads run Android? Man droid really does do "everything"!
But when you type in your "title" when you create a new thread, other threads with the same name pops up. So if you start typing like "How do i ROOT my xperia play?" I'll promise you that some threads about the exact same topic will pop up
if you want to use google search inside the xda forum, use this chain in google: "site:http://forum.xda-developers.com/" + the thing you want to search. For example:
site:http://forum.xda-developers.com/ rooting xperia play
Of course, this applies to any other website.

This is a question, so should be in the "Q&A" forum, not here - although I'm sure a Mod will move it quickly enough.
I'm not going to answer your question as it took me less than 10 seconds and Google to find the answer - so I'm sure you can do the same.
Read the XDA Rules and search before asking ...
excuse me dear......
I had opened many tabs from different sub forum of here... and I mistaked about correct place...
please move it... thanks...
I had searched many in google... but i didn't find answer...

Exactly the same link I put under the word "Google" on my post - if the OP had been bothered to look.
I get pi$$ed off with people on here who claim to have searched - when it is so obvious that they haven't at all.
What it comes down to is they actually don't know how to word the search correctly so as to get a decent result.

Sir,
I know how to search and az I told I searched before open the topic :|
but it's obscure :|
read this page:
nfcworld.com/nfc-devices/motorola-droid-razr/
-----------------------
The Motorola Droid Razr has not been advertised as an NFC handset, but a teardown has revealed it carries an NXP PN544 NFC controller chip.
-----------------------
and comments that is it's below:
Q: Yea, but are we saying that with ICS the RAZR will have NFC enabled?
A: I don't think anyone knows the answer to that yet...
So........
you don't have to learn I do :|
but it's obscure, so I ask it

I think that you have answered your own question as well as anybody on XDA possibly can. Nobody knows - although the chip is in the phone, it may never be accessible to software, whether it is GB, ICS or JB.

So if I'm reading all of this correctly, you're magic 'Google search'(Complete with the extra douche topping of your little animated superiority video) produced no actual answers? God forbid that someone comes onto an Android developer's message board to find out if someone here has an inside scoop, so to speak.
Not everybody is as mighty with the Google as you are, not every Google search returns the same result. You have to word your searches correctly, and some people are bettet than others. It used to be that you came onto message boards and could ask a question like this and the answer would be 'Well, it looks like the phones have the proper hardware, but it's going to require an OS level bit of code before anyone can use it, and nobody has given an actual timeframe for when this will be done, if ever.'. Now, it's a bunch pf snarky A-holes trying to see who can deliver the killing blow.
It was a legitimate question, and this was a legitimate forum to post it in. Your special Google search still didn't really answer the question, and it didn't answer the question from the perspective of Android developers, who would be MY first resource if I were looking, too. If you don't like the question being asked, then for God's sake, don't read the fracking thing. There is no law of physics that dictats that you can't pass up a post on here without reading it. I don't really understand people like you who get their panties in a twist because someone posted a question on a message board. How did this question being posted here impact your life? Me, U can't stand condescending rude people, especially in places where people go for help, so I like to call them out on it.

I'm awfully sorry to have offended your sensibilities, but who the f**k do you think you are? You sign up to XDA and the very first post you put is to resurrect a thread that is 3 1/2 months old - not to contribute anything useful, but simply to try and pick a fight?
I actually commented on the OP predominantly because it was clearly in the wrong forum - that is what the Q&A or the device specific forums exist for.
I also ended the thread with;-
I think that you have answered your own question as well as anybody on XDA possibly can. Nobody knows - although the chip is in the phone, it may never be accessible to software, whether it is GB, ICS or JB.

which is no different to what you just posted. It is obvious that the OP doesn't use English as his first language, so trying to get all technical is of no use. The OP 'Thanked' me for my post, so he obviously had no problem with it, and he hasn't been back on here since as he is one of the many who sign up here, ask one question and are never seen again.
As for your comment about the XDA Noob Video, I didn't create that, but I personally feel that everyone who joins XDA should be forced to watch the entire thing and read the whole page of forum rules as well so that this place was able to keep to the goodness it has achieved and maybe lose a lot of the people who sign up nowadays simply to demand answers as they feel they are 'entitled' to an immediate response from people who help out on here for free in gaps from real life.
Righto, that's enough. Question answered, playtime over.
Closed.
