RUU Works in Vista RTM! - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi. I`ve finally found the way to connect mtty and run rom update utility in Vista. tested on rtm 6000.
First of all, connect your device when it`s in bootloader.
next, open Windows Mobile Device Center and in connection settings uncheck Allou USB Connections.
next, goto contol panel-administrative tools-services and start windows mobile device connectivity and windows mobile device 2003 connectivity
next, goto device manager and find your device and update the driver to the one from AS 4, i attached it, wceusbsh.inf.
then, kill wmdc.exe with any taskmanager
You are Ready. run ruu or connect MTTY. I guess that vista default driver uses another port, not WCEUSBSH001, that`s why we have to use the old driver.

Didnt work for WM6 update
is this supposed to work for the WM6 upgrade?
Didnt work for me.

Attached the files for x64 version of vista (taken them from x64 XP).
Drivers are unsigned, so you have to turn off driver signature enforcement in vista. Google how to do this.
And yes, this can be used to upgrade uni to WM6.

No this method did not work for me for O2 Atom.
Using Vista Business with released final windows mobile device driver. No use. Able to sync perfectly. But RUU ROM update is failing. Trying to disable the firewall also no good.

omg thank you so much for this! i was trying to downgrade my hermes from 1.06 to 1.04 CID but vista's windows mobile device centre or whatever its called is dodgy as hell and i couldn't run RUU. you are a god send, thanks again!

yes, this is working out very well with vista.
Thank you.

Vista cannot find drivers for Hermes after flash
I used these drivers to allow me to flash my Hermes with the latest Cingular image. After the device reboots, Vista no longer recognizes it. Vista prompts me to search for a driver but cannot find one. Is this related to installing the back-level drivers above? Anyone know how to recover from this?
Thanks!

No joy....
This did not work for me. I'm running Vista Ultimate and a TMO MDA.. I hope there is a solution soon.. I really want WM6 on my phone, but I don't want to have to have an XP machine around....

Thank You! Worked for me, using Vista Ultimate.

Thank you! It works...

I was also unable to get this working. I am running Vista Enterprise RTM. I followed the steps in the list exactly, and also tried restarting the services (they were already started) and killed mobsync.exe (Sync Center). No such luck . RUU crashes while trying to read information from my phone. Has anyone who had problems earlier got it working yet?
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm having difficulty updating the Build in driver with the one you supplied. As soon as I try to update the driver I get a meesage saying the one installed is already the most recent. As soon as I uninstall the original driver it is redetected and reinstalled.
Anyone have any help on this.
Thanks,
Tom

Right click on the device and click "Update Driver Software"
Click "Browse my computer for driver software"
Below the textbox, click "Let me pick from a list of devices on my computer"
Now you can click "Have Disk" and choose the drivers you downloaded
Pick the device it pulls from the .inf file
Step through the rest of the wizard and you should be set.
The wording of the buttons may vary but should be similar to what you have (I'm running Vista).

RUU Version
What version of the RUU software is working, I tried the 2.00.1 that came with the 2.61 radio upgrade and it did not work.

I, too, am using 2.00.1. I'm going to try these steps on one other machine I have that's running Vista. We'll see what happens!

Thanks for providing a solution that works on Vista.
Upgraded my Hermes using mtty and RUU, no problems with the driver posted.

That zip file is corrupt. Anyone else know where I can get it?
Also, why do the steps in the first post say to uncheck "Allow USB connections"? When I do that, I can't find it in the device manager.

it workes finally but i realised that the 2.00.1 RUU is problematic, older versions work fine

Wm6 + Vista + Wmdc = Sync????

I've been able to successfully flash the ROM to one of the WM6 editions. All appears to be working well on the TYtn. The problem is that now I cannot sync with my desktop? Is there a way to achieve this? Is Vista looking for an official copy of WM6? TIA...
no dont worry dude, how did you flash the WM6 build??
follow the final steps of one of my guides on this page as you may not have sorted the various settings on the device??
(if you used one of my guides to install can you tell me which one?)

Still no luck in getting sync. I've disabled firewall and re-installed WMDC. Followed the guide to change the drivers, reinstalled WM6 and unchecked the advanced USB. When I connect the tytn to pc, a found new hardware window opens, check install HW automatically. Get a no drivers found message on PC. On the tytn screen get a pop up window stating connected to usb. Through this process WMDC says connecting and then error?
Sounds like you havent downloaded the latest version of WMDC from MS.

WMDC on Windows 7 RC1

WMDC was working fine for me until I upgraded to RC1 of Windows 7. It did tell me as I upgraded that WMDC wasn't compatible. The only thing I have installed which isn't in fact. Windows own mobile device centre is the only thing not compatible that I had!?!?!?
Anyway, I guess I'll try a reinstall, but does anyone know how I can get it WMDC working again?
(I'm using Dutty's 3.3 and W7 RC1 64bit)
Hi. Now I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate RC Evaulation copy. Build 7100 and everything is working fine. Even rom upgrades working with no poroblem.
hey guys - I'm using RC1 too but the 64-bit - never tried to use it to flash my device though (dual boot with XP)
its the last piece of the puzzle I need in order to migrate completely to W7 and wave goodbye to WinXP.
can you both confirm which versions you are using please? and if 64-bit did you have to install the vista 64-bit driver found on these forums or did it work 'straight out of the box'?
thanks
I have 32-bit version of Windows 7 RC. I just connect mine HTC TOUCH HD to PC and Windows install the drivers and Windows Mobile Device Center install automaticly. Now everything is working. cheers
As I said, I have 64 bit and WMDC wont even start for me
I have Win 7 RC1 64bits, and Duttys HD V2,4
You need to uncheck Enable faster data sync in Settings/Connections/USB to PC..
That dit the trick for me...
Hi! I have 2 notebooks, one with win7 rc1-32bits, the other with win7 rc1-64 bits. I connect my Touch HD on both, succesfully.
Htc Touch HD Aka Blackstone
Windows 7 RC (Build7100)
Everything works GREAT!!!
Flashing, synchronizing!
Must be your config
Windows 7 RC x64 here, can flash without problems, after downgrading HTC-USB drivers to active sync drivers
Windows 7 here X6. Everything works perfect
I'm using Windows 7 RC1 64BIT without any problem.
Have you upgraded from Windows 7 Beta to the RC?
Than you must uninstal WMDC before. After the upgradeprocess reinstall WMCD again.

This fixed it for me. Thanks
You shouldn't need to disable faster data connections. The reason that this method works is that it detects a new device and installs new drivers.
There are a few things to do, I am not sure which in particular does it, but I'vbe upgraded Windows 7 many times and some combination has always worked.
Reinstall WMDC 7.1
Manage partnerships and delete them all.
When you plug in your phone go to device manager, find your phone (if faster data connections is shown, it will be listed as a portable device and a Lan connection)
click "uninstall" on these items, and delete drivers if this option is available.
unplug phone. Wait
Plug it back in.
Let it install drivers
If this still doesn't work. Click on the devices (network connection and portable device) selelct "upgrade drivers" on each, searching the internet.

To be honest, now it works I'm not going to mess with it unless I have to. Will it be a slower transfer to the HD?
Hi all,
I had similar trouble with Windows 7 RC, however I followed the instructions posted at: http://capitalhead.com/articles/ena...synchronization-on-windows-7-x64-and-x86.aspx and that did the trick.
If I'm not mistaken, Windows 7 is supposed to download WMDC automatically, however it never did that for me. Hope it helps someone else.
Mike
w7-64bit RC1 here....
WMDC works fine (stock install) - use it both at home and at work, and i flash by renaming and copying rom image to SDcard\blacimg.nhb
Unistall
Try to uninstall WMDC and download and install another one from the internet! It work for me and i had the same problem...
W7 and Blackstone here. Flashing Syncing ... works great.
I know this thread is old but I am having this problem and none of the suggestions I have found out on the internet have solved it. I am basically having the same issue as most people in this thread have had but the REAL problem is that Windows Mobile Device Center will NOT install no matter what I try. I run the setup for it and it looks fine until it gets to 1 second left on the progress bar. Then it sits...and sits...and sits...until finally the bar rolls backward and the installation quits. No error messages, no nothing and no WMDC. I am running Win7RC x64. I will never get syncing working if I can't get WMDC actually installed in the first place. I did look in the event log and it seems there is an error related to VSS every time I attempt an install on this app. Anyone have any ideas?

Flashing from Internal Storage through mtty... Diamond won't boot anymore

Hi all!
Yesterday, I want to flash another ROM to my diamond, and downloaded the nbh file into the Internal Storage... (but I've forgot to rename the file from "ruu_signed.nbh" to "diamimg.nbh")
After, I've formatted the device with mtty application (same procedure as in the relative thread), but when I start the phone for flashing, it can't find any image (obviously)... But it can't boot so!
Now I have to sent it to the repair center?
Or there is a solution for flashing an image in my phone? (for example, there isn't a way to connect the phone to the PC in "storage mode"; or a command through mtty for renaming files)
P.S.: my diamond, when in bootloader mode, won't connect with ActiveSync, I can communicate with it only with mtty software
Connect the phone, start the Bootloader (volume down). If you can read "USB" you will be able to flash a new ROM, try the orginal stock ROM from HTC first.

It's because the phone don't connect with ActiveSync (I mean)... The RUU don't recognize the phone!
I've tried with three different usb cables, with a different usb port, with reinstalling ActiveSync, with another two PCs (the first with Win Xp & ActiveSync, the other one with Win 7 & the Mobile Devices Center) none of this can't see the phone connected... I repeat the only thing can I use on the phone is the BootLoader, and there isn't no way to connect it to a PC for execute the RUU...
At now, I'm looking at the mtty commands' list, maybe there's one that can operate on the files in the Internal Storage...

The phone is ready for usb connection, but ActivSync (AS) must recognize it by this way
- Open AS > File > Connection Settings
- Leave all default then press Conect (button)
- Let AS detect all connections. When it does finish (you can see the message ... USB is available...), DON'T close the window
- Run RUU, now it should see your device !!!
You don't and shouldn't need ActiveSync or WMDC to run mtty. You need the updated drivers for your phone.

Again, you don't need ActiveSync/WMDC to run a custom RUU. Make sure you have the updated drivers for the device (try uninstall/reinstall in the host PC>>Device Manager). Are you sure you're running a "Developer" version of HSPL?
About ActiveSync: ActiveSync (server) needs the activesync client (on your phone) to run for the purpses of 'sync'ing contacts, mail acocunts etc. It will not affect RUU in anyway. If you further clarity on this, I'll make a larger post on the technical blah blah someplace...but someone from xda might have done that already.

Ok, now I understand... Thanks!
The driver my PC is using is "HTC USB Sync", it's correct? I've tried many times to uninstall, and re-install from Device Manager, but no changes...
The SPL is 1.93 from OliNex!
I think there is an incompatible driver in your Windows PC.
1) open bootloader your phone then plug in usb cable
2) If you are using Windows 7, open control panel
Go to Device Manager.
Find device called HTC Sync or QUACOMM something delete it (including driver)
3) Unplug the USB Cable and plug in again.
4) Windows 7 will start to find an appropriate driver for your device (check device manager)
5) Unplug the USB Cable and plug in again to use the new driver
6) Run RUU to upgrade the ROM
If you are not using Windows 7, you can do the same but you have to install driver manually because only Win 7 can search and update driver automatically. Drivers can be found on HTC CDs, XDA-developers site, or well somewhere else.
If you can still access Boot loader, there is no need to panic. Somehow, if you still cannot do this, just borrow somebody else computer then plug in and try to upgrade.

Cool, Satus has given the exact things you can do...also make sure your HSPL is unsigned to allow unsigned roms to be flashed. I use the Win7 default drivers for my device (that it downloads) and it works perfectly IMO.

Heyho,
just read this Fu**ing great Tut from D-Two:
http://www.mediafire.com/?wozgwddo3ay
all you need is in this PDF, also all Software Downloads as Links...
So, there´s no need for Virtual Crap, but anyway...Thanks for that
at first i use Win 7 64bit I'm get confuse too, but that Tut give me a light.
im already try almost all rom in this forum for BA, but i think the best room is WM6.1+Manila by dtwo http://bit.ly/b44Dwe.
the important thing is, it worked. but to get on with galluslongus' idea, for flashing with win 7 (even x64) you don't need to run a virtual machine. i tried them all and encountered that to correctly loop through the usb correctly to any virtual machine (vmware, virtual box, virtual pc xp mode, virtual pc 2007...) you need the correct windows 7 drivers anyways. after installing those drivers you can flash in win7 directly, like the way, most people do.
i open this thread again.. because i am now at the point to flash RC5 on my BA. but first i had to downgrade to 2003 to upsize to 60MB Space.. but i cant downgrade, although the right image is in the folder with MaUpgade and i have done all the things in the PDF Guide like driver change and further steps..
if i start MaUpgrade (BA is in USB mode) the tool didnt detect the version.. if i press next, the tool checks the device and then notice me of successfull upgrade.. but my device is still running 6.5.3??!
Any advice?

you don't need downgrade!!! flash the rc5 it has an app for rezise at the beginning!!
PS: You must put the Blueangel into the Bootloader!!
its not my first time, and i did the previous steps.. driver update for win7 64bit. look sreen:

Drivers with Windows 10

Hello guys,
I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and I got the surprise that my computer doesn´t recognize my HTC ONE M8.
I installed HTC Sync for get the lastest drivers but it didn´t help. On Windows I go to device manager and it seems it recognize an "Android device" but with a little exclamation that says that there is no drivers for this device.
Anybody had the same problem? How did you fix it?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor english.
Regards.
Did you also have this problem on Windows 8.1?
I had the same driver issue when I was running Win 8.1 Pro. I couldn't get the phone to be recognized.
What I ended up doing is downgrade (or should I say upgrade?) to windows 7. All is well now.
If you keep windows 10, you may have to wait until HTC updates their drivers for the new OS. I'm not familiar with any other solution at the moment.

Actually I installed on my new computer Windows 8.1 Pro edition and I think I´ve never connected my phone to this computer so I cannot tell you if it was working on Windows 8.1.
I think I´ll wait until other pal put a solution.
Thanks
It works with 8.1, but connection can be really sketchy. Connects and disconnects rapidly, but eventually connects.

Mine works fine in Win10. Are you an admin or regular user?
Same here, no issues at all on a clean win10 install
No issues here with windows 10, 64bit.
Upgraded from windows 7.

Admin user.
Did you do a clean install or just upgraded from a previous version?
Did you install HTC Sync for get the drivers or you installed from other site?
I may have had HTC Sync on before - don't recall. This copy of Win10 was an upgrade install from Windows 7.

Follow that link, and download the file
1. Disable Windows driver signature (option 7 from advanced options)
2. Connect phone to PC
3. Go to device manager, you can find it through cmd prompt or cortana
4. Once in device manager, locate anything that says android usb or something like that ( I cant remember)
5. Update the device driver by looking through your computer for the location of ^ above download zip
I have no tried this yet, but I dont see why it wont work...PM me if you have questions
Edit:
I just did all of what I described above, and TBH I'm not sure if it would work or not. I do not currently have ADB SDK installed on my laptop, but I have found what appears to be a sound-proof method. Im going to assume the reason you want that connection is because you plan on using adb ? Anyhow, here's the link:

In the second post of the link ^, it has been shown to work with HTC devices, hope this helps: let us know & I can dig deeper...
