Hi all,
Is there a way (registry hack) to change the bluetooth name of the Orbit - it appears that the devices bluetooth name is simply the Owners Information, which I would like to change.
I use the Orbit in conjunction with a Parrot CK car kit, and my device name (First Name/Last Name) is too long to fit on the screen of the Parrot.
Cheers,
Gavin
The BT devicename is in settings-system-about-device_id

I really would love to know how did you get this name (from settings-system-about-device_id) to work for your BT devices ?
Device_ID is for ActiveSync connection and unfortunately all BT devices recognize the handheld by owner name. I'm wondering what name has your Artemis in BT Places on your PC?
easy...
...unless i'm missing something. using PHM registry editor, or similar, search for your current bluetooth name. it's in something like HKCU\software\microsoft\bluetooth\settings - there's a key called "localName". change it to whatever you'd like, and away you go.
works for me so far, now i'm playing with btcrawler!

...shows what I know. doesn't persist after a reboot, as i found when scanning for local phones. only way i've got to do it is to change the owner name to what i'd like the bluetooth name to be, and then set the company name field to my name. not ideal, but good enough.

There is a possiblity...
I have found a software company that has developed a bluetooth audio redirector that will send all audio to the bluetooth headset (at least that is what they indicate). Unfortunately they are an OEM outfit only, so don't sell retail, nor is their product available thru any normal source. I have made a case to them to allow me to test thier product and if it works, then see how we can make it available to the members of this forum. The salesguy I talked to seemed to think that a way might be found to make this happen.
My desire is to be able to hear my GPS navigation prompts via the bluetooth headset rather than having to rely on the speaker or putting on a wired headset, but the goal is the same...get ALL audio on the PPC to a BT headset.
I will update when I know more

I hope this is not an external dongle that is attached to the Audio port. I think there are quite a number of this type of devices out there already.
Personally, I am still hopeful that the BT chip in our device is adequate and all that we need is the software and a good stereo BT headset.
I posted this already in other threads, but thought you might be interested.
I have no idea how this should work.
Atinav’s Bluetooth Audio Driver is also available for Windows CE for use in Pocket PCs and handheld devices. It enables any legacy audio application on the Pocket PC/Handheld device to communicate with a Bluetooth headset, eliminating the use of a wired headset and sound card driver in the Pocket PC/Handheld device

Not a dongle
The product is totally software and yes, it is the avilink BT Audio for Windows CE as mentioned in this and another thread. I found the company previously, but like I said, their business model is to OEM the software for integration with other packages, NOT sell retail or a standalone product. They are NOT setup to support the product at a retail level. They don't even have a way to sell directly to anyone. In talking, they clearly indicated that if a market existed then a way would be found to support it, so that was an indication that they might reconsider their OEM only stance. I do NOT have a committment from them to even test the product, but the discussions have been encouraging. I don't think that everyone blasting them with requests will help at this point, especially given the business model they currently employ. We did discuss pricing and all I will say is that they think highly of their product and while not astronomical, it is out of line with other PPC non-application software by a significant amount. I would be curious as to what this group thinks would be a fair price for the capability?

their product works only on ipaq.. i installed it on pda2k and it said this is not ipaq~!!!
I have seen that in the Ipaqs, to enable the Bluetooth Headset for the applications, all we had to do was to change 2 registry values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Services\0005\Auto Change the value from 0 to 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Services\0005\Enabled Change the value from 0 to 1
But in the PDA2K, the Services go up to 0004.... any ideas?

The question would be what would be the values of the other keys. All services in the device are groups of registry entries with some 10 different keys and values. I will take a look in an Ipaq to see what are the values they have there for Service 5 and for the other services, to be sure everything fits.
Another question that could bring problems: what would be the level of interference between the phone and the PDA Bluetooth service if each one manages the headset independently.
It is from an HP 6315 from 3/31/05

I would love to see if we could get this stack and the settings on our XDAII and other HTC devices,,, THAT would be cool.
Bluetooth build 1.0.0.3701:
Corrects inaccurate display of headset icon when a call is in progress.
Adds a check to determine if Bluetooth stack is initialized before accepting messages from phone.
Adds a user interface (UI) change to enable a connected headset to automatically disconnect before attempting to connect to a different headset when the user chooses to connect to a second headset.
Corrects check for invalid device name.
Corrects issue where handheld could not reconnect to remote device after a page timeout.
Corrects Object push profile update so it sends all files.
Updates FTP connection wizard to correct service discovery issue.
Corrects issue with call waiting for incoming call handling while dialing out.
Corrects issue with headset connection icon so it is correctly displayed after power cycling.
Corrects audio to make it compatible with an in-car solution.
Corrects audio issue where the right channel for a headset was unavailable for playing audio and during calls.
Corrects issue where the LED and network status were not properly synchronized.
Corrects issue where the user could not send multimedia messaging (MMS) message.

This is an HTC device. All HPs are designed by HTC.
Well, even though I don't want to stop progress because I would like to have the ROM taken apart for my own personal reasons, the 6315 was actually made by Compal. Bad move on the part of HP in my opinion. However, the bluetooth stack that was taken from an iMate JAM worked on the 6315 and that is how most survived until the update was released. So it very well could work on the HTC's. On a side note, if someone could point me in the right direction, I will take the ROM apart, just don't know where to start.

Oops....my bad....excuses!
no htc dont make ALL hp's pda's the H5400's was oem'd from LG
and even if the ipaq in question is made by HTC then that dont garentee that the xda tools work as they are not made by HTC
I can tell you now that the XDA tools do not work on that ROM as it stands. However, looking through the HEX, it is laid out a little differently than the XDA ROM's but have some of the same portions, just in different locations. Now if I knew more about what I was looking at, I could take it apart for you. The 6315 uses Widcomm BT and like I stated before the BT drivers ripped from a JAM worked great on the 6315 so I have a feeling the 6315 drivers will work on the XDA's.
I can also tell anyone looking at it that in the first header of the ROM the letters are shifted 13 characters. So when you see RAT it equals ENG and so on. It looks like they don't do that for very long though.

BT 3900 and 3500 do not support Hands Free Profile or even Headset Profile on my XDAII.. This is important so people can use Caller ID on a BT device and OR a Car Kit with the Hands Free Profile....
Switching stacks is a pain in the but...
Even so, the only OS that even slightly works with Hands Free on the Himalaya, is 2.20 translated but even that has bugs that makes it very frustrating. The 2005 did have a fully functional BT, even having separate serial ports for each BT device, (like GPS), but the other bugs and the limited memory left over from the useless and unerasable Extended ROM from the other OS made it no good..
With this new ROM, I may be tempted to buy the HP again.. When I first bought one, it was DAM slow and the BT SUCKED!!!
Maybe now it is usable.
I love my Himalaya and it's 128 of built in..

I will just have to keep waiting for one of the above unless someone finds a fix for the BT Hands Free.
So I can't beam any files or accept any files over bluetooth beam with the latest wm6(wwe). I didn't have any trouble with the generic wm5 rom. I get an error that says obex can't be accessed. If I remember correctly there was a registry edit that had to be done to some phones to enable obex. Any ideas?
Try this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Obex]
"IsEnabled"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Obex\Services\{f9ec7bc4-953c-11d2-984e-525400dc9e09}]
"BaseDir"="\Storage Card\FTP"
; Enable Object Exchange Protocol
; Allows to send files over IRDA/BT
; Default storage to \Storage Card\FTP if "BaseDir" key not present
; Included here to change it.
Hope it helps.
BTW, does your Excalibur have IRDA??
Mine is HTC S-620 (HTC brand) and does not seem to ahve IR port
Solve by this..

I tried pairing THD with PC - neither Bluetooth Object Push Nor Bluetooth File Transfer service is discovered. Nothing wrong on my PC side. Obviusly something is disabled on my THD.
The key below is missing - Is it supposed to be something else on THD - can any one confirm?

Just trying to pint in right direction, your more likely someone with the same device can help you more, especially as the REG may be different.
I am wondering if it's possible to schedule to turn Bluetooth on and off at specific times of the day, automatically on our Rhodium
Does anyone know of this is possible?
It's not a freebie, but I use SpbPhoneSuite to provide different "profiles". These can be used to turn on/off bluetooth and can also be configured to activate based on time or other triggers (e.g. during an appointment, when cradled, etc.).
As this is primarily a Today Plugin, I've used "Second Today", which gives me a separate today screen (aside from TouchFlo) which I use to access PhoneSuite and change profile if I need to do it manually.
I had a licence for PhoneSuite from my previous phone, so I didn't care about the cost.

I found G-Profiler. Free and alot of config.
BUT... The Bluetooth part dont work.
I've found the reg key for BT on the Rodium:
HKLM\system\state\hardware\
bluetooth=8 is the value for off
bluetooth=9 is the value for on
I havn't found the place to put that value in G-Profiler.
But it's possible to call a prg instead. Mortscript to change this reg-value?
Is this the easiest way? I've had this problem in other prg aswell, so i'd like to know.
Thanks for your replt, however I read that HTC switched from the WM BT-stack, to the WidComm BT-stack and SPB Suite will no longer control BT as we would expect.
Any other ideas?

With SBSH Phoneweaver, Profiling works fine with Bluetooth. Make sure that you use version 1.4.2 (the issue with the BT Stack has been solved in this version)

Ahhh - I'd seen the Bluetooth option, but not actually tried to use it in anger.
D'oh!
Phoneweaver looks as though it might also do the trick, though...
With this trick i suggest a simple way to enable audio routing for watch video in bluetooth a2dp device.
Needed:
- device unlocked
- wp7 root tools
Open wp7root tools and go in this key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Zune\Playback\Video\A2DP\CapsSet1
Change dword value DisableA2DPPLayback from 1 to 0
Now your device send audio of video like youtube, internet,or stored in memory in a2dp device if connected via bluetooth
Tested on my Samsung Omnia 7 with Vodafone Bluetooth stereo earphone and with my Sony A2DP BT car stereo in my car.

Hi,
it does not work on htc hd7
Awesome. I just tried with a video podcast and Motorola Bluetooth headphones and the audio did play through the blutetooth headphones. Now why didn't they just make this a setting or change it!?
Important notice!
I see if wifi signal is too low bluetooth not working correctly (my car stereo show disconnected device after few seconds). Suggest to listen video even downloaded in phone's memory. I missing write reboot is needed after change value. Ehm... i think for missing settings function this is commercial strategy. I see more settings implemented in registry but for commercial strategy these features are released over time or because they have not been tested or have a certain advantage in being able to communicate the dates of signatures. Even if enabled tethering works but is not active yet officially. Same goes for the voice search bing. Tomorrow I will create another discussion where I say what keys to edit the search for local bing (3 icons). The one I have not yet found is just to enable voice search of bing. That works by modifying the system language in English, even if all other items are located with your language. I hope google translator work better for my translations. Scuse me for my bad english

Thank you so much for this. It took me a few weeks later to remember that I had did the registry change but not tested it. I finally tested it a few days ago and it works on my HD7. I was able to listen to the audio from my videos through my BT earpiece.
This missing feature on wp7 was bugging me for while! Nice hack fabcal, many thanks! Not sure why MSFT disabled this feature??
Nice! Will test when I get home.

Awesome. I've been b|tching about this issue for awhile.
Just got around to finally testing and it works perfect on my HD7!! Thanks a lot for this. ANd you need to be interop unlocked and use the registry editor from Schaps (touchexperience) to make the change. Flash Dotcompt's rom and then all you need to do is install registry editor.
WORKS!!! Made change on my LG Quantum.
Thanks for this. I haven't really needed it, because my bluetooth device is my car stereo. I don't have bluetooth headphones. But, it still bugged me that I couldn't do it.
I am going to test this when i get in my truck before I leave work.
Oddly, the initial value was not 1. it was 27397520. (Actual original value)
When I first tested it, this did not work for me. I changed the value. Then I tested it. Then I shut down my phone and restarted. Then tested again. It still did not work.
Later that night, I checked the value in the retgistry. It was 1, not 0.
I changed it to 0, like I did earlier. But this time I powered down right away.
After restarting. I checked the value. It was still 0. I tested it.
It Worked!!!
I think the key to this is make the change. Reboot immediately. Check the value (probably not necessary). Then connect to bluetooth.
I think connecting to bluetooth before rebooting resets the value to 1.
So, just apply the change and restart the phone right away.
Thanks again for posting this.
LG phones have a built in registry editor which is in the MFG app. You just need to acticate it and then use the password.
After Software update with Backup are still changed values? Anyone know?
For Samsung Phones, If you get error code 0×81030120 while deploying wp7 root tools, install this internet connection sharing app and then wp7 root tools will be installed easily.
It turns off the flag which is used for interop unlock.
Hi,
Will this tweak force audio to a headset without A2DP; as in with HFP only?
