Happy new year!!! I have a 02 XDA EXEC running I-mate software as i believe it runs better. The 02 software crashed back to the blank screen with Version 1.1 and i reloaded it with the information i found amoungst these threads. A friend of mine just bought the JASJAM and i was wondering can i complete a hard reset on my universal and reload it from his disc. If not can someone 'please' point me into the right direction for the latest version of either 02 or I-Mate running gear. Cheers.
Koomaview: why did you name this thread "Test only, Not For Sale"?
Jabberwockies only fry applejuice on a Thursday!
But anyway, the various versions of O2 software are available on this forum.
Hardreset is achieved by launching the clearstorage app on your phone.
Another method:
"press and hold the backlight (lightbulb) button and use the stylus to press the reset button. Hold the backlight until you get a menu with three options. Use the dpad up button to move from item to item, use the down button to select yes or no. Set Clean Registry and Format Storage to YES and press the middle dpad button to reboot."
Try hardreset first to get factory settings. Factory setting apps should also reinstall themselves. Otherwise, grab the o2 software on the forum or the ftp.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah not sure why i called it that. It came into my head because when i perform a soft reset i get the words 'Test Only, Not For Sale' appear on the first blue i-mate screen. Whats your opinion regarding 02 v's I-Mate? I just want the best or latest running gear before i load my navigation program and flight planning software.

hey guys, i downloaded this program, but i cant seem to figure out how to copy and paste. i thought u just held down the joystick key, yet that doesnt seem to be working (yes i clicked on teh icon and the program is running) thanks
omar
The program should install itself so that you don't have to do anything to launch it when your phone boots. The only indication you have is a rectangular yellow box that pops up after your get to main screen that says 'the application is running'. Once it does, keep the center button in the D-pad pressed for 3 or 4 seconds and the menu should pop up. One thing to note that it doesn't always work in all applications.
it doesn't work for me, either - no way to activate it.
hardware: o2 xda cosmo running original wm5.0 (O2 branding)
i cannot figure out how to use it either...
Could anyone offer any advice? I intalled a pocket pc 2003 app on my orbit without realising the consiquences!
System details:
xda orbit
WM6
Meschle - Artemis touch 2.1 WWE
I installed a remote pda control app to the device. It then asked me to do a soft reset, which i did.
Now the phone wont start up. It just hangs at the end of the rotating cube splash screen.
I've tried various resets inc reoving the battery - no joy.
I know you guys and gals know all there is to know about these things so any advice would be great.
i had a similar problem after installing a piece of software. Ended up doing a hard reset (hold down two soft button, and press reset with stylus).
WARNING!!! - YOU WILL LOOSE ALL DATA STORED ON PHONE!!!
anything stored on SIM card or SD card will not be deleted
Hope this helps.

I have bought a cingular 8525 smartphone on ebay and the phone has a personal password in order to log on, and I have no clue what the personal password is as well as the person who sold it to me. If you have any idea how to crack the personal password please post the instruction on the forum other wise this phone will stay on my shelf as a display for its entire life.
Hard-reset it, then you can use it.
unlock personal password
What do yo mean hard-reset it ?..... would you mind to be more explicit and that way I know what to do in order to unlock the personal password.
Thanks
Akele
Typically, in order to hard reset, you have to hold down BOTH soft keys while you soft reset.
So, hold down both SOFT KEYS and poke the stylus thru the little whole on the side of the phone.

I DONT KNOW UR UNIT...MINE IS XDA IIS...BUT IM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH PASSWORD...IF APPLIED TO MY UNIT...
ABOVE SOLUTION IS APPLICABLE TO WM2003 WHERE ALL DATA IS STORED IN RAM.
BUT HOW ABOUT IN WM6? I HV JUST UPGRADED TO WM6 3DAYS AGO...THEN SUDDENLY...WHEN I TURNED ON MY DEVICE AND ENTER MY PASSWORD...PASSWORD WAS NOT ACCEPTED!!! TRIED TO RESET....NOTHING HAPPENED...TRIED TO FLASH THE ROM AGAIN BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET AROUND? HACK? ETC? PLS HELP. TNK U VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE.
MY UNIT: XDA IIs with wm6 from Helmi
maria_terie: obviously, it's because you seem to always leave "Caps Lock" on, probably while you entered your password as well.
Same happened with my XDA2s but just following the instructions below help me fix the problem, hope it might help you too..
1) Use two fingers to simultaneously press the RECORD and CAMERA buttons of the phone (on the phone's left side). Whilst these two buttons are depressed, use the stylus to click the soft-reset button underneath the phone - keep the two buttons depressed until the boot loader screen appears.
2) This should enable three options on the boot screen. These options allows a YES/NO response. Use the RECORD and CAMERA buttons to navigate between the options, and switch the YES/NO values. Set the following:
1] Enable KITL: NO (this is a debug tracing option which isn't required, except possibly for developers)
2] Format Registry Hive: YES (clears the registry)
3] Format Storage: YES (formats the internal memory: "\" directory, and under "\RamDisk\". Items under any storage card "\Storage Card\" are not formatted).
3) Once these options are set, press the MAIL button (in between today and the Pocket IE button) to confirm these options, and continue with the Registry and Storage format.
4) The device performs the reset, and the Windows CE setup screens (ie. screen alignment etc.) appear. Continue as per a new install...HOPE IT HELPS YOU!
Hi.....
I have an wm6 xda with a broken mail button and I'm trying to hard reset it for upgrading. Is there a possible way to do the upgrade with the button while using windows 7 (using WMDC) or I need XP to do it.
Another problem with my BA is
1. If I slide it up, the screen will be distorted and will fade to white.... (Is this a Hardware problem??)
2. My stylus always point is not accurate in one point (the right side).
Are you trying to do the hard reset before or after you flash the ROM? You enter the bootloader first(Record + Power + Reset) Then flash it. Then after its done you press power + record. That should be it. You only need the mail button to do a wm6 hard reset without upgrading the ROM
1. That sounds like a hardware problem
2. Maybe try aligning your screen. If that doesn't help it could also be a hardware problem. How much is it off by?
that is not true, after upgrading you need to hard reset the device, and for that you need the mail button, because after you upgraded and entered the hard reset menu by pressing power+reset+record+camera you set the options right by flipping them all, using the camera and record buttons and then confirm your choice by pressing the mail button.
but i agree about the other problems:
screen - hardware issue
touch - align screen
just my 2 cents
Is there a default button map for when you list settings/personal/buttons? I'm talking about all the hardware buttons. I have the map of the first 9 buttons from the PDF file that came with the 02 xda companion cd, but I'm missing answer call, end call, and the Dpad. Thanks.
I have an 02 xda iis with windows 2003se.
You can remap the keys via the registry. Sorry I'm not more of a help, it's been a long time since i've done that. Or you could try this:
http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php
It has worked for me in the past, but made my PDA slightly unstable(Not a BA)
Thanks for your help. It seems that my dpad is starting to go out. I reinstalled the 2003se operating system back on my phone. Everything works except the dpad - well I shouldn't say it doesn't work. You can get it to scroll up, down, left, and right, but you have to press really hard to do any of those things. I can buy a replacement pad here

I want to get this fixed soon. Then I'll put windows mobile 6 on it.
