For free? I guess that they are still working on a solution, so not yet possible. If you don't mind spending some money there are commercial services who claim they can do the trick.
They not only claim to, the actually can But this Board is full of Threads dedicated to SIM oder NET Unlock and the IMEI- Check Service.
but IMEI costs, and i have also the mda c and the mda c 2 and i have both unlocked with tools from this site, so i wait for a free tool to unlock my mdac³. But thank for your answers!
The Luxury of time Its true, this Community came up with amazing solutions that were able to freely unlock any MDA, so i think your patience will be paid off I for myself could not wait to unlock the device, since i am not using a T-Mobile SIM Card. Have fun with your gadget
Am I wrong or the solution exists on this site...
Hello,
I'm new to this website and I'm looking for an unlock of MDAIII.
I watch this thread on the page 5: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=240784&page=5 and see that some people have had some results with the "all in one sim unlock tool"!
So, go on there and try that tool!
One of my question is: do one need the sim card to upload the tool on the mobile phone or can one upload the tool without any sim card in it... (in fact, I'm new to WinMobile, as I'm on palm since +/- 10 years!)

You could try the tool on the MDA III. However, that is not the phone of this forum. Here we are talking about the MDA Compact III, the tool does not work on this model.

I just bought a SX66 used and have been using it for a week with my ATT sim card. Since the SX66 had a cingular badge on it as well as a cingular startup screen i assumed the phone was unlocked. I then got a new cingular plan today and got a new sim. When the cingular employee stuck the sim in, it turns out the cingular badged sx66 would not accept the cingular sim. Well long story short I came home and unlocked it using the .exe file. Works perfectly now, but i just thought it was kinda strange that the phone is locked to ATT.
love the free easy unlock file!
...free easy unlock file! sx66
Please, can you either tell me how to get the "love the free easy unlock file!" or send it along to me (jafe_poboxes.com)?
Thx. :?:

If your fone is the basic XDA2 or older, then go to this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=6963
and ignore the bit about the program being replaced. If on the other hand you have a fone that is newer than the XDA2, (XDA2i, XDA2s, XDA3 etc.) go to the forum above and click on the link at the top for the newer fones.
There are step by step instructions available on each posting, which explain how to do it. Take notice of the warnings given in the postings, as I believe unlocking the fone may invalidate warranties etc but it depends on the country your in, source of the fone etc. As allways, any modifications are taken at your own risk. Saying that, ive not had any problems, and this community has helped me out a lot. Enjoy
Hope this helps.

PS. it helps to search the forum, perhaps under the Unlocking section?
Hey I have the same thing i unlocked mine.
Do a search on the forum.
The tool you want is xdadev_all_unlock-V1.3 (or what ever the new version is) worked on mine.
Thanks all. Point taken about searching... It worked fine and all is well.
Hi guys,
a friend of mine had bought a HTC in USA last month (he live in Italy) and he would know what he has to do to use the phone here.
I don't know if this mobile phone is "under contract", he told me not but i'm not sure of it.
So i would know what i have to do with this mobile phone.
I don't know the model of the phone, i know it's not a smartphone and it has got a QWERTY keyboard..
Thank to everyone who could help me..
if the phone is sim unlocked, then you just have to change the sim and you're good to go
if it is sim locked, then you can either a) contact the original provider and get an unlock code, or b) go to the specific forum for the device and use the unlocker made for it

He Said it's not a smart phone. I doubt there is an unlocker for that here. Somewhere maybe, but probably not XDA.
After reading through many of the unlocking threads on this forum it quickly became apparent that there are no free sim unlocks for the artemis. Now I dont mind paying a small fee for the service but from what I could gather anyone on this forum asking for a "donation" was asking more than my provider, so I went on ebay and found someone (who had been used OK by another forum member) who was only charging £10. I downloaded the software OK and went through his help file as per instructions, after a few minutes a code was provided. I put in a different sim and entered the code, failed, I tried again, failed, I now have one chance left before the phone is locked. So does anyone know how to reset the counters to give me more attempts? Is there something I am missing? My phone is a UK T-Mobile MDA Compact III.
Cheers for any help ... FF ...
Can you put that unlocker so we can test it?
I would be happy to post the software, but it connects to a server that needs user/pass. I tried it again to see if it gave a different code but it wouldnt let me connect a second time, so I think it would not work.
this is a link to the sim unlocking software

If anyone is capable of backward engineering this then you may be able to work out how it works. Having emailed the guy who sells it, he recons it gets the unlock code straight from the phone. I think the user/pass bit is so it can verify via his server that you paid for it. So if any of you guys can hack this then good luck.
lol... forget it.
And forget about the "backward" (correction: reverse) engineering unless you have some hacking skills.
You need to buy credits to use this software.
And I haven't downloaded it.
You can look it up at gsmhosting.
Just use google.
Hi Guys,
Just bought my Galaxy S from a carrier in Portugal ( TMN ) and it is SIM locked.
Since there is no way to unlock it yet without paying some money to the carrier or to some specific unlock websites, i´ve tried to use one SIM unlock card that i had since my nokia times.
without this card i´m able to connect other carrier SIM ( vodafone) but after the card pin i´m asked to put the unlock key.
Then i tried with the Sim unlock card with the same card, and guess what... Works perfectly, no unlock key and vodadone card rocking hard on my Galaxy...
Here is the link for one of those on ebay... It costs 1$ lololol.

Hope it helps a lot of you that want to be free to chose the carrier that suits you better.
Cheers
This should be stickied
As a fellow TMN client, this is marvelous
i read somewhere else that someone had problems with this, sending every other call directly to his voicemail, so maybe there also could be some downsides to this. did you have enough time with that thing to test it well?
IMO i just want the thing unlocked. I could care less about the warrenty. I am always changing phones anyways.

I had it for more then a year on my nokia( stuck on tmn aswell) and with a vodafone card. Always worked flawless... But you can always test it. 2 bucks with delivery is not that expensive..

Hello, i have googled and searched all the threads but to no avail so decided to post another NooB thread!
I bought My arc from O2 on PAYG knowing full well that it was sim locked to this network. Having previously owned a HD2 i thought i could easily install a Open romm on it and it would cure the sim lock on it.
Upon looking into how to go about this i have seen threads on rooting but am unsure weather i will be able to do this on the 02 ROM that is installed on this. is it just a case of following the root guide then finding a general ROM for uk?
to summarise i just want to take the sim lock of so i can put my virgin sim card in and update to the latest android.
Thanks in advance
What happens when you put your Virgin sim in? O2 phones are usually sim-unlocked anyway, but no, rooting or debranding won't remove the lock.
Thanks for the quick reply
It just asks for a sim network unlock pin to enter.
i know i can request this but was told in the shop that i would have to have the phone for a year with O2 before i could do this. I should have just spent 50 pound more and got it sim free. i really thought that i could have worked a way around this though!
Any ideas?

You'll have to pay, no other way.

Unfortunately, I have found with the Xperia Arc that it was a pain to get it unlocked. For the Orange San Francisco Android phone, someone at Modaco provided a free app that gives you your unlock code when you type in the IEMI number. Easy. On other phones, you often see codes for sale on auction sites, etc.
With the Arc, it seems it isn't anywhere near that easy or quick. In the end I had to get a refund from one online provider because they couldn't get the code (using their cheaper method - and I wasn't willing to pay for their more expensive service). In the end I used cellunlocker.net for a decent price, but it wasn't a pleasant experience from the point of view of not getting any updates on how long it would take (just kept getting told that it would be soon). However, in the end they did email the code and it did work - it just took about 2 weeks
this is what i found out online for you !!
Welcome to O2. Someone will be with you soon.
You're through to Ashton.
Ashton: Hi I'm Ashton. How can I help?
me: hi , i have a pay and go xperia arc and would like it unlocked , how long do i have to have the phone for and how much would it cost ?
Ashton: You've to use the phone on the O2 network for 12 months and then you can get it unlocked for a charge of £15.
pity ur not on contract as they do it straight away for free
Thanks for your replys. I thought it would be just a case of using a workround to install a generic rom and in turn this would take the sim lock off! I may jusy return the phone and buy a sim free version for a bit more. Cheers peeps.

There a guide here detailing how to debrand your Arc.
