Hello everyone -
Newbie here at this stuff, and I was wondering if I can download the Universal ROM AKU3.5 and install it on my Verizon XV6700 phone?
Thanks.
P.S: Universal means it's for everyone? or is it another brand like HTC, Apache, etc.

Universal is a BRAND, just as Apache is a BRAND.
I suggest you read the Apache Wiki
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Apache
Not much info on there right now, but it will get you started. Also, do a forum search for the Apache or the XV6700 to find out if other owners are successfully able to flash to a new ROM and the steps they took to do it.
Good Luck!!
Thanks for the reply, one question though, you mentioned about new ROM for XV6700 over Apache forum, and I'm assuming u mean the Sprint AKU2.2 ROM right? If so I already got it flashed in my Verizon XV6700 and working now. What i'm interested in is the AKU3.x ROM. Is it possible at this moment?
Thanks.
That's a question you'll need to answer yourself from reading the thread that has the ROM you want to flash to. Each ROM has it's own prerequisites for a successful upgrade, so I wouldn't even want to presume to know whether you can or can't.
Here's the link to Molski's AKU3.2 ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286988
However, it's in the Wizard upgrade section, so you might not be able to use it on your Apache. The only way to know for sure is to read the ENTIRE thread to see if you could use it on your device.
If so, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY!!
If it's a Verizon phone, it is not GSM based, therefore it is TOTALLY different from the Wizard, and most other HTC devices.
If you can't do it yourself, learn. If you can't learn, wait for someone else to do it, and find out from them.
Now go have fun!
Hi everyone,
I'm very new to the world of cooking or flashing roms etc. I appreciate this will be quite boring to most of you, but I was hoping someone could help me understand the basics. I'm from the UK and have just brought a HTC Touch Diamond on Orange network which I am very happy with. I am however keen on the idea of trying a new, potentially faster ROM. I currently have 1.37.405.1WWE. I have read a lot of good things about Manila and some others on here (elite) but I'm unsure whether to try one or not. My first question is how hard or easy is it to install a new ROM and what could go wrong? Could a newbie potentially ruin my new phone? Can I re-install the old ROM if I don't like the new one? I have read a lot about people doing manual changes etc , but I don't know any coding. Do I need to? I have searched the forum, but couldn't find any answers to such basic questions. Please could someone help me?!?!?
Thanks
It is not very hard to flash your phone with the ROM of your choice and usually it's quite safe as long as you follow the recommended procedure. Installing HardSPL is the first step which will ensure that a cooked ROM will not "brick" your phone. This is flashed as per the normal flashing procedure. Following this, you can choose the ROM you fancy ( I use Bepe's and I am very happy with it) and flash, again using the same procedure. The cooked ROMS are much faster than the stock ROM and usually very stable. Bepe produces 2 version of his ROM, Basic and Premium, whose major difference is that Basic does not include TF3D. Finally you can also flash a Radio ROM if for whatever reason you are not happy with the connectivity features and stability provided by your current ROM.
No coding required to do any of the above.
there is a nice guide here which shows you step by step how to flash a ROM:
http://modmydiamond.info/
direct link to upgrading ROM:

I reckon the "flashing" part of your question has been answered.
Regarding the "cooking" part, what can I say... You won't learn till you do it yourself.
There are a few excellent guides out there (you can start with the xda-dev wiki)
And remember - search is your best friend. Both questions could have been answered if you'd have searched the forum.
Hello everybody,
i'm new in this forum and i'm looking for a upgrade of my HTC herm200 "WM6.0" ==> HTC_HERMES_S64_WM_6.1_TouchFlo2D_UC_V1_22.09.2008 or better.

if possible in french language. thank's a lot
Hi
Firstly let me say welcome to the forum, however there are a lot of new ROM's out there in french.
I am afraid there is a lot of reading to do, firstly I would have a look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299462....an excellent guide on how to flash etc.

Hello and thks,
i try to upload the ROM version and i have this picture should i continue or my version is higher then the downloaded version?
That is for installing Hard spl, it's not a rom, it's the boot loader. And it is better than stock, and helps in recovery, if something bad were to happen when you flash.
I suggest that you read quite a bit more before you just go randomly flashing, or looking for the highest build number. Newest isn't always best, and there are tons of custom built roms around here.
Check the wiki, there is tons of information there, and here in the forums already.
yes do readup. you dont want to go ahead flashing recklessly or youll end up with a bricked phone.... which is quite a useless thing to have.
Hi,
I've got a stock Orange Touch Diamond running the latest Official Orange Rom, 1.97. I badly want 2.03 for the fixes and tweaks that have been made!!
I'm planning on using the Generic 2.03.401.3 that is available from the HTC site. Has anyone already flashed this on top of the branded Orange ROM, did you come across any problems?
The phone already has HardSPL, not sure what version though.
I'm doing a full backup of all contacts/data. Is there anything else that I should do just in case??
Thanks in advance
Rob
lol, has anyone got an experience of this?
Best way is to try it and see. If you have any problems flash back to the original again.
There are plenty of 2.03 ROM's out there with even more fixes and tweaks to make them stable.
In my opinion the 2.07 is the most stable out there at the moment.
Have a look around and see what suits you best.
Will give it a go tonight and post back my findings...
Plenty of guides etc within here that you can use..................However..
I have just done this myself and this is the process I followed;-
Install HardSPL, now it is 1.40.Olinex
Used a working serial to get the latest ROM update from HTC site
Ran the updater and that was it..
As it's been said, all the info you need is on the first page of the ROM forum so have a look and go from there

Thanks for the info Trixster!
I've had 3 HTC phones, M500, M3100 and now the TD and I've changed the roms on all of them. I did get problems with the M500 as I used an Orange Swiss Rom. I've just never used a none operator supplied rom before so was just a bit apprehensive and wanted to know if anyone else had done it.
Will post the results here...
Upgrade was totally painless. Don't know what i was worried about.
GPS works a little bit faster, but not much in it.
The new 'g sensor' calibration is useful though.
Has anyone got a link to the latest stock ROM. Would be much appreciated. I've been searching for almost an hour straight.
Thanks in advance...
@nuke1, if you're talking about a stock 2.07 ROM, then I'm in the same boat. Anybody got a link?

The ROM in that thread is branded for the Telstra network in Australia.
I have tried to get the basics rt but it became an info overload. I know i would require HARDSpl to flash to a cooked rom. ...but am not sure how to install hard spl and then go abt flashing my phone...
would really appreciate if someone can give it out in steps or provide links stepwise on how to do it.
thanx in advance
they are all already there just read the sticky threads in this forum for more information, along with hspl you should get your phone security unlocked and update a radio rom so that the switch to a custom rom is very smooth. I'm in India and I have flashed most of the roms here without any issues.
Try this TUT by Badwolve - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=608668
It gives a good indepth yet clear instruction set to flash your ROM from ground up.
