Universal procedure to change ROM and/or languaje - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Hello people, this is my first post here in XDA, even if I've registered some months ago; what can I say?
This is one hell of a place to learn and exchange information, now let's go straight to the point.
I have buy a "new" (not exactly new, got it from Ebay in Germany) PDA to change my Ipaq 6340 (already sold, I guess...), it came from Germany, so the whole OS is in German, now, admiting that I'm not good with german languaje, I would like to change it to English, Spanish or Italian (quite confusing AH? I'm a native spanish speaker, english is good also -hope nobody disagrees- and I live in Italy, so Italian would be also ok).
Now I know that many of you will tell me that I should look out around the forum and grab all the information I need, next my reasons to ask for a precise answer from the forum's "gurus" (by the way, I'm an electronics engineer, lots of experience here, will not tell exactly what I've done all these years, but If I can give some help with the hardware, I will).
I've already tried to change the OS languaje, somewhere else in the forum I found a procedure to change the languaje by just overwriting some files and changing some registry keys, I would say a relatively "simple" procedure, but... Some files are surely missing, because, yes it do changed the languaje into Italian, but I have no shortcuts in my Settings folder, not Italian, nor the German ones.
Originally, I would even be happy by just changing the german ROM with the UK one (T Mobile is the original mobile operator that sold this PDA), obviously Activesync does not want to do it because the languaje is different. I tried to do it just by entering in boot loader mode but it is not enough for the PDA, same mistake.
Now it not even "reaches" the complete conection with the PC when in Boot loader mode, it just freezes and I've also read something like this today in the forum (confusion is just growing, I have been through so many threads in the last week that I just can't remember all the things I've saw).
Now do you understand why I need some enlightning, clear, linear help?
Please, one advice and one guide:
Advice, which ROM should I use?
Guide, How should I do to install the ROM, any ROM, even if it is from a different mobile operator?
Thanks in advance to all, and please don't get mad at me, I just don't want to waste too much time to begin playing with my toy.

Ok, I've just answered myself yesterday, lots of reading and jumping all over the forum and i made it.
Well, i guess i had no luck to find the person to help me (many readers, no answer).

nobody awnsers because its the same question every 'new' Universal owner asks...
and all the awnsers can be found in the forum.
also check out the wiki at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Universal

For italian language try JASJAR_ITA_13081_169_10900_ita_ship.zip from ftp.clubimate.com no need to register there even and it is the official release too.

Italian Qtek 9000 - help for a newbie -

Hi all.
I've recently acquired a Qtek 9000 in italian language. It is a very interesting device but it is very very slow, comparing for example with Qtek S100 i own. Some applications, as MSREADER, are very irritating on this device, and it need at least a minute for switch from orizzontal to vertical screen position.
Now, i suppose that it is a problem with rom, and i'm tried to follow this forum but i need an help, to understand if it is opportune to change the rom, what is the correct option for my model, etc etc.
Someone can help me?
Thanks in advance

Up.
Pls help me. I really don't understand some elements, as: what typo or ROM i have to download, what are the differences and so on.
It can be very useful even simply link me the proper threads where the problem is exaustively exposed.
Thanks again in advance
Idum
Hello,
It doesn't matter what ROM you install (Qtek, O2, Imate, etc.)
All will work as it is the same HTC Universal Hardware.
Go here:

this leads to a discussion regarding which is the best ROM.

HTC Galaxy (QTek G100) ES to EN

Hi there,
Looks like this forum is a great place to ask a few questions since I just got my first PPC (QTek G100 WM5 Spanish (sadly).
Sadly I didn't have a look for available ROM Updates for this model prior buying it and it seems like an impossible task to find anything that could help me turning my G100 into something useful with a spanish OS..
I basically bought it in Spain, hoping that the language could be switched, but I guess I was wrong. After contacting pretty much everyone (HTC / QTek Support and even the press office) the final answer was: It's impossible to change the language.
I also had a look at roms and found one in english called
RUU_GLX_O_10001_10200500ENG_LB_BP
but this one returns "invalid device id" once I try to "update to english". Since I am sure many people here have great experience I would like to ask if someone knows a way to get around this issue. I found some language changing topic here, but I cannot find any spanish rom for this one to use a suggested method to replace the CEOS.nbf while running the original rom update.
See:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1064789
Maybe someone managed to find a rom update for this model and would like to help out. I'm also more than willing to pay a few bucks to get my G100 set.
Any ideas? Links? Suggestions?
Thanks
xiii .... I have the same problem.
any help?

DISHEARTED->NO GSM & IMEI disappeared, Radio updating(Can it be restored with JAFWM?)

DISHEARTED->NO GSM & IMEI disappeared, Radio updating(Can it be restored with JAFWM?)
Dear Seniors,
i am very much dishearted as there are many many learned people who i know can help me with this little problem of mine... few did but after a while they disappear (may e cuz they think i'm asking too much .... well that's how your get to learn things...)
well now... after a long wait and research... i have come across this software called J.A.F.WM... it says that it can;
*Autodetect product, whichout having an technical knowledge.
*Flashing has not been easier for everyone to do.
*There is no need to edit or patch any ROM file before flashing your phone.
*Fully compatible with original ROM files.
*Debranding.
*Upgrade phone firmware.
*Restore/Change PDA's IMEI
*Support area contains more then 15 Gigabytes of ROM files.
*Change languagepack and software customization.
*Available region packages: Arabic, Asia and Pacific, German, English, French, Russian, Swedish and much more.
so i think it can restore my IMEI Too (Remember i am having NO GSM error and Can't update/Install the RADIO ROM on my Phone. IMEI is gone too.. however the EXT ROM and CE ROM flashes fine)...
My question to all the guru's here is that have you guys come accross this software so far and that if so then have you used it...
this software requires a dongle (Pkey)... can it be cracked.
the link to its website is "http://jafwm.com/index.php"
i would appreciate your support... may be my being sticky to this issue will help many many other brother around....
looking forward for your replies...

Orange SPV M650 - Language problem - Help please!

My wife has just got an Orange SPV M650 and I need to change the language from French to English for her so she can use it properly (French is a problem and she thought she could change the language when she bought it). Is this possible? After a lengthy call to Orange France today, they tell me it should be possible but that I need to download the rom in English. But they couldn't tell me where to find the software to do this however...So far I have not had any luck. On other forums, it has been suggested that this just won't be possible.
Any help would be much appreciated!!
Thanks very much.
if you change the rom, you have plenty to choose from. what would you like? windows mobile 5 or 6? the official rom? or something "cooked" (which has more features)?
you are in the right place here. just search through the various threads about roms. be aware that some french spv m650 users had problems with gps once the upgraded to WM6. but there is a patch for that...

i've had that same problem before, i bought my spv m650 and thought it would be easy to change the language to english. i also tried to ask france telecom, but they're just a useless bunch of people. good thing i discovered this forum.
if you want, you can send me a private message and i could send the english roms that i used, and also the solution for the gps problem that one of the members in this forum made.
Hello,
I am using my bosses login as he has asked me to sort out his wife's phone for him.
Redski very very kindly sent me all the files that I would need to change the SPV M650 to English WM6 from the French (complete with the fixes for the gps).
Not owning a pda phone type thing myself this is all new territory for me. And a little scarey!!! If I turn the phone into a brick (do you like how I am learning the language?!)...well it doesn't bear thinking about as it's not my new toy.
Anyway, following the excellent instructions provided by redski I managed to use the uspl file to cid unlock the phone. I then tried to load the wm6 software redski sent me onto the phone. I keep getting an error message - the dos screen goes through the initializing stages and then the error message says can't find the file. So I thought I would look on this excellent website for more clues on wm6 software for this phone as I was loathe to keep bothering redski or anyone else for that matter.
But I have to admit defeat now and ask for more help please!
(I promise I have trawled through the threads looking for clues, even the excellent complete idiot's guide which is clear - it is the software to download I need guidance with).
I saw a download available on this site based on o2 german WM6. Is that the one to use? I think it was bepe's download??
I am using activesync correctly by the way and am only connecting as a guest just in case this makes a difference.
I am not stupid (honest!) just a little lost and confused so any help would be much appreciated from anyone who has the time to advise a newbie like me!!!
Thanks v much Emma
you can use any english ROM you like, i don't know why the one i sent didn't work, but have you tried looking through the threads that i sent you? you can also look through the WIKI page of artemis, and look for available english roms to download.
good luck!
Hi Redski
Just wanted to thank you again for your help. Just been able to download Meschle's new WM6 rom - all seems fine. Although I guess I may still need to download those gps fixes you sent me?
Thanks again!

Help needed for FSC N560, German WM5

Dear all,
I've got myself a Fujitsu Siemens Loox N560, with German version of WM5. I remember it was a big day and I was happy as a child.
But German is to me as Chinese to (most of) you.
I've tried to change the language into English and discovered that I can't do that. There are no language settings in the original WM5.
Discouraged, I accepted the fact that I'll use the PDA simply as a GPS device.
Then, surfing the fujitsu-siemens site, I've discovered they have a update for the GPS software. I've downloaded the update, carefully followed all the instructions and....
... and now the GPS is broken.
So I think I need to "format" everything and "reinstall" an English WM
Can it be done?
Do I have to install WM6?
Please indicate some resources, ROM images, instructions, "how-to"s, anything.
I know I'm inexperienced comparing to you, but I'm willing to search, to learn, to try
If you can help, I am forever and ever grateful and I shall mention you in my prayers as long as I'll live. And after
