Need help...again... - HTC Excalibur

Well, I finally got my email account setup and working after the help from this forum. Now, I am in need of help again.
I have my Dash check for new emails every 15 mins. However, if I disable Wi-Fi in Comm. Manager, it won't do that, which is great. However, when I have it charging on my laptop via USB, it will check every 15 minutes for emails again, since it uses USB for Internet access. Is there a way to disable the email feature via USB? It is useless if connected to a laptop. I am also tired of constantly getting new notifications when the emails are already being picked up by the laptop.
Thanks in advance...

Configure your activesync as connected to WORK... And your e-mail to download when connected to the INTERNET. Should work

Sounds like that might solve the problem. How do I change ActiveSync to WORK? My e-mail accounts are already setup to the Internet.

Can i connect via wifi with active sync

I tried to connect with active sync with bluetooth but it gave me a headache.
It kept adding in com ports last time i checked it would only connect to com port 22.Stupid think. is there anyway to get the com ports back to normal, the jaz jar will only display from o to 9 I think.
Is there a way to activesync via wifi as i do have a wifi router.
thanks
pete.
Quick answer: No.
Long answer: From activesync 4 onwards MS removed the ability to sync over WiFi. Even if the option was available in activesync on the PC, WM05 devices don't even have the option to sync over WiFi. WiFi sync was very usefull in the older versions of the OS, but it was disabled for security reasons after requests from large corporations. Its unlikely that it will reappear any time soon.
Quick answer:yes.
If you're syncing to an exchange server then it works fine, depends what you want to sync I guess?

stupid as i may sound.. i wanted to know how to sync with exchange server and what is it and how is it helpful
Enable your account for mobile access in excahnge server, and add the server on your mobile device.
Easy as that.
Basically find the instructions for push email follow that, just don't set the schedule to "as items arrive" then whenever you do sync with the wireless up it will use that.

Some questions about direct push

I have been trying to setup direct push for my device. I am using mail2web exchange server, and have been successful in synchronizing. My question is if you select sync as items arrive, how frequently should active sync connect and check. It seems as if the connection wants to stay connected contiuously. Is this how it is supposed to work?
I thought that it would only connect to the server when a new email arrived. Continuously connected is a bit rough on the battery. Sorry for my ignorance. Is there any kind of user guide for direct push?
That's the way it's supposed to work. It doesn't actually stay connected to the server all the time. There's a "heartbeat" signal between the server and your device that maintains the connection. Only when a new email arrives on the server, the device gets the signal to connect to the server and retrieve it. So you see, it's actually better than having it check every few minutes like you would with a POP3 setup.
Thanks for the explaination. How does it affect battery life?
I was in a 3G area all day, and it wiped out the battery pretty fast. I locked it into GPRS, and it seemed better. I am back home again, so I will see what it does tonight, tomorrow. I am curious as to your experience however.

Internet connection while synched

My apologies if this has been covered, I've tried a couple of searches and am not turning up squat.
I flashed my dash's ROM the other day and got just about everything working proper. I don't think I was ever able to connect to the internet through it while it was synched up in activesync, but who cares? However, now it does not receive email while synched, either.
What did I miss?
Take a look at the connection settings under file on the AS on your computer

Mail doesn't work after Sync

Something really strange is happening with my phone and i couldn't figure out what is.
I have been having many problems trying to download my email into my Excalibur Phone (doesn't matter if I use GPRS/EDGE or WIFI). I configure out everything, select send/receive and nothing happend. Exactly nothing, the phone doen't connect, no errors showed, etc. Also if I try to stop the send/receive option it also doesn't do anything and It keeps trying to stop.
The internet connection works well I can use the explorer and other applications to sync mail like funambol, but not the regular WM Client.
I've tried many different configurations and also different imap/pop providers, nothing happens. I also decided to try with version 6.1 and the same story happens again.
At the end I try to change the order I do the fresh install and suddenly the mail start working until I sync my device with the pc using the Windows Mobile Center 6.1. Yes aftet that It stop working with exactly the same behavior.
So, in resume starting my device with a fresh version of windows mobile 6 I can configure my imap/pop3 mail and it's work fine. I connect my phone to the PC to sync the contacts/calendar/tasks (no mail) and my mail stop working again (leaveing the same configuration or deleting it and configure it again).
Looking forward for your help. Thanks.
Uriel.
What internet plan do you have exactly. Is it the 5.99 or the 19.99 one?
I live in Chile and the prices here are diferent. I dont have internet plan I pay per kbyte because I use more WIFI.
Did you run the connection wizard in the tools folder?
the connection wizard doesn't help me because the chilean parameters are not in the list. also i don't have any problem connectiong to internet, it works fine, the problem is with the mail client only.
I've discovered something new.
I restart from a fresh install of windows mobile 6.1 ricks v24. I connect to the inernet and sync my mail perfect.
Then I connected to phone to the PC to sync and set to sync ONLY the CONTACTS and it works fine. After it te phone continue working well and the mails continue working.
So I decided to take the next step, I went back to the Windows Mobile Center and enable to sync the Calendar also. After the sync finished, the problem returns. I cant connect to my mail again. It dont work.
Then I restarted the phone and went to the Windows Mobile Center and disable the Calendar sync. After the sync the calendar is deleted from my phone and the mail start working again. I can't figure out which is the relation between the mail and te calendar but something is happening here.
Thanks for your help.

"error synchronizing" when trying to sync IMAP e-mail

Hi, I'm running the Kavana ROM, it works fine except I can't send or receive IMAP e-mail through USB.
I'm on T-Mobile prepaid, no EDGE or GPRS for me; I just want to check my e-mail over Wi-Fi or through USB. Internet Explorer works fine so data is getting through. But when I set my e-mail it says 'error synchronzing' straight away.
any ideas...? I delete all the connections (under settings, connections, GPRS) so as to try and not confuse the device. IE still working but no e-mail.
this is really frustrating and I've spent a long time looking for a solution, without success. Can anyone help...?
thanks!

You would have to use Outlook to grab your email then when you plug in your device it will sync the email from Outlook to your device.
Thanks for the reply. It actually started to work by itself...I think all I did was enable and then disable the advanced USB functionality somewhere in the options.
No need to use Outlook, I just pick up mail directly from my server. I hate Outlook and now use Thunderbird on my PC. This, in combination with https://www.nuevasync.com/ means I am finally free from having to sync with Windows!
Pls, HELP
