Help with Restoring contacts

Hi there,
I have upgraded from WM5 to WM6 and I am running windows vista with windows mobile device center.
After the upgrade it has recognised my phone as a new device and therefore I cannot resync my contacts etc to it.
Can anyone help me as I have loads of contacts that I really can't afford to lose...
Thanks in advance
Im running vista and WMDC as well but whenever i flash even when it detects it as a new device it still syncs my contacts and everything else.
Do you have Outlook installed? Without outlook i believe it won't save any contact or calender info i may be wrong though...
yep have outlook 2007 installed
It isn't configured though - can anyone confirm if the above is true and whether it would need to be configured?

Yes. It will resync your Outlook contacts. Just make the new partnership and voila! I have deleted and repartnered my device many many times. Ever so often I backup my Outlook contacts to a CSV or XLS file.
My suggestion to you is open Outlook and export your contacts to a CSV or XLS file.
Then make your partnership!

Contacts - view only phone (+sync)

hello all - i'm using b&b4.1 on my orbit (cheers tom!) and I was just wondering if there was a way in contacts to view only the contacts on the phone i.e. not live contacts or sim contacts? Also, having signed into msn I now have 100’s of unwanted contacts under different names and I can’t seem to be able to sync the contacts with outlook or windows address book so that I can delete/rename most of them. Anyone used an app to work around this – if possible I’d love to use pocket CM but is there a PC syncing utility?
Cheers

Syncing specific contact groups/folders with wm5? activsync

Hey guys,
I just transferred all the contacts from my GF's non wm phone (basic flip phone) to a contacts folder in Outlook 2007. Now I want to sync JUST her numbers from that folder to her new (htc wizard borrowed from me) phone . But when I try it wants to sync all of my numbers from my 'contacts' folder. How do I do this?
Thanks!
Josh
Anyone know a workaround?

[Q] contact transfer

When I bought me Focus the ATT rep installed a new sim card. The rep didn’t copy all my contacts from my 2 year old Fuze running Winmo 6.5. I haven’t seen anything in Zune to copy my contacts from Outlook to the Focus. I have copied through activsync all my contacts from the Fuze to Outlook but can’t find a method to know get the outlook contacts on my Focus sim. Thanks for any suggestions.

Windows Phone 7 does not currently sync directly with your desktop Outlook client (via USB, or any other directly connected method). The phone was designed to sync with cloud-based services, which means that it ties into your Windows Live ID (Hotmail contacts), or Exchange ActiveSync accounts (such as Gmail).
A workaround would be to use the Outlook Connector to add your Windows Live Hotmail account to Outlook, and then copy your contacts from your Outlook file to your Hotmail account.
The phone automatically syncs Email, Calendar, and Contact information from your Windows Live ID.
Please try a search next time, as this question and information on this topic is everywhere.
what about sms messages?
