Having a weird screen alignment problem with my IIs. Bottom left part of the screen doesnt respond to the stylus properly. I downloaded digitizer check and the alignment is way off. It wont even align properly using the screen alignment utility. I tried manually editing the x,y coordinates of the alignment file but to no avail. Also tried re-flashing to a different ROM, resoldering the 4 touchscreen connections, hard resets, soft resets, etc.
Its not that the screen wont respond to the touch, it just reads the touch as being higher up than it should be.
And now the really weird part - when I switch to landscape mode the problem is gone! The screen responds perfectly to taps in that area properly again.
Any advice?

I seem to be having a screen digitiser problem lately...noticed it when I first got my exec where it wouldnt acknowledge any screen taps at the align screen part of the hard reset. Got it working after a few soft resets but now screen taps dont seem to be acknowledge in either portrait or landscape mode. I have noticed that if I press slightly on the right hand side of the exec it brings up whatever is on the right softkey, which is weird. I need some feedback as to whether this is a harware fault or not. Tried flashing to the most latest O2 firmware and still the same thing. Also finding that even after switching off and then back on again, I'm having the same problem with stylus taps not being accepted anywhere on the screen only after maybe 30 seconds. Any help much appreciated. TIA
So... I replaced my perfectly working glass screen the other day, just to change the color
All went well it seemed.
But now, the touch stops responding completely at random intervals. Sometimes after a minute, sometimes after an hour.
All i have to do to get the touch back is lock and unlock.
I updated my rom, no go. I cleared cache and dalvik, no go.
Any ideas? :silly: thanks
I went to developer tools and enabled the option that lets me see the touches...
it seems when my phone stops doing the touches, its because there are like 8 different locations on the screen that are being "touched".
I messed something up obviously... but it seems to go away when the touches are reinitialized...
Is there an app out there that will automatically refresh the touches automatically? That would fix my issues...
I just now found out how to replicate the issue on command!
If i press down hard on the screen, it stops responding to my touch commands.
at least now i know how NOT to get stuck... just have to hold it gently
I think the reason was because i didn't put enough glue on the glass screen, thus its too close to the digitizer... and when i touch too hard the glass touches the digitizer and causes it to go all outta whack. mebbe...
i'ma put more glue on it and find out though.
thanks for all of your help so far though, you guys have been a great audience.
I did the exact same thing and have the same results. If I don't press too hard it works. Any solution would be nice
Hey there,
sometimes after using phone for days, touch screen dont respond correctly on some specific placed on screen.
for example if i hold down at one point on the screen screen is thinking i press also like 1cm down and jumps up and down.
i will wait to re-produce the problem and post a screen from touchscreen with debug menu *#0*#
happens at least 3 times for now with multiple firmware, since a restart always is the solution i think its a samsung related software problem in stock rom.
Did you apply any screen protectors? Its a common issue with cheap ones
No, i dont have any. Also the its not always at the same position.
Hi!
3 days ago my Note II started acting weird: About 50% of the time my note didn't respond to my touch (finger), which only increased as time passed by; it's unresponsive 99% of the time now. Funny thing is that the stylus (probably due to the wacom digitizer) still works.
I tried a factory reset and erased the cache. A hard reset is not possible for me, as the "hard buttoned home button" doesn't work (for months...I destroyed it when I repaired my screen and glue got stuck). U use a soft home button now, which works fine (except for hard resetting of course).
When my phone's screen is black and I want to turn it on, the ripples on the 'lock' screen show up spontaneously in the center of the screen (those ripples that normally follow your finger motion). This led me to believe that it might be a hardware, rather than a software problem (something with a slightly bend screen, causing a pressure focus on site?). I tried manipulating/bending the screen (to an extend ofcourse) without effect.
Further info:
-I dropped it about 4-5 days ago; worked fine after that
-I use extra batteries for a quick change if one's depleted (dunno if that's relevant): using the original battery doesn't fix it
-Didn't recently install new software (well..unless you count reinstalling important software after factory reset)
-I feel like the time it takes my note to 'turn on' after being idle for a while (you know; the black screen that turns into the 'locked screen') is slightly longer, even after the factory reset.
My question is: Does this sound familiar to you? Is this a fixable problem (and how )?
Thanks!
Hi all,
I have had a strange problem occur to me since yesterday. At first I could no longer pull down the notification menu. After enabling `show touch` in the developer options I could see that my touch would no longer register on the top ~1cm of the screen.
Then it became worse and now the touch screen does not work around 98% of the time across the entire screen. So doing anything on this phone is either impossible or it takes for ever. I have to press and press and press and sometimes it registers, but mostly it doesn't.
I took it apart and made sure all the contacts were still attached, put it back together again and for a few minutes the touch worked perfectly again, apart from the top 1cm. But now it has gone back to being nearly completely unresponsive.
I also tried a factory reset, going back a few nightly builds of CM13 and so forth ... nothing has helped.
Is there a fix for this, or is my digitizer broken, meaning I'll have to either replace the entire screen, the digitizer if possible or just get a new phone and bin this G3?
It hasn't had any tumbles or falls, nor any water contact.
Thanks.
