Downgrading? no problem

I figured this out by accident..
I upgraded to windows mobile 2003 SE 2.06 but after I found out that half of the programs (MMS composer, cammera, etc..) dont work, due to incompatibility (error message says they are incompatible) I wanted to downgrade.
I ran the same ROM instalation (2003 SE 2.06) and waited for it to erase my ROM, then I took the phone out of cradle. I was dead at that point. I removed main battery, put it back in. Reboot the phone in bootloader mode (hold down D pad in centre position, then power button and soft reset - all at the same time). Then I put the phone back into the cradle and ran the ROM instalation of my choice. No more problems.

Well, I think using SD card method may be saver.
However, I forgot how to do this.

Same thing, I badly need to downgrade to 1.72 or 1.66. I tried it, it did not work. I was was adviced that there is a 1.66 SD version which is safe and possible to apply, any advice where can I find it???
Bty, MTUX 1.4 Ring tone, and other software runs very slow and creats porblems with 2.06!! Beside 2.06 hard reset by itself on weekly basis!!!
Any advice where to find 1.66 SD version?

HELP!!!! my Vodafone V1640 died!!!!!

my vodafone died today when i tried to update it with a new rom. i was using Vodafone latest rom and i tried to update it to Qtek rom. after the installment finished and i hard-reset my machine, it cant boot up and have no response.........when i hard-reset again, it can show the menu of "clear memory press 0".............
my fd have told me to press Power botton and light botton to enter boot mode and install new rom again......but finally got no response too....i have tried twice!!!!!
my vodafone seems died now!!!!
i dont know what i should do!!!
everyone can help me?! please teach me how to "save" it!!!

Dont worry my friend it is not a difficult situation first of all and happends with alomst every 3rd person upgrading rom.
Adopt the following sequence.
1 - Enter boot loader mode as described by operator
2 - When you see usb or serial mode then you have a working unit which can be saved.
3 - The problem (if boot loader is active) is only due to radio rom just upgrade it.
4 - To upgrade only radio rom you have to do the same things you did for whole rom but keep out ext and os rom out of package.
5 - if problem persist then use Radio rom version 1.09 instead of current one

furthermore, i would like to ask why this problem occur?
my fault ? or just some simple system error?
i am so worried of it.......

Yes you can find it in ftp files section or you can detach it from latest vodafone rom package just unpack exe and and copy radio rom

This is not your problem just a system error in upgrading process

My vodafone V1640 has funny colour on the screen after I update the rom, I have tried hard reet soo many time nothing works seemd like it jam , can anyone pls help me how to resolve this ? thkyou I really appreciate it

XDA dead on rom update

I have just tried to update the rom on my xda exec (downloaded from the o2 microsite) it seems to load fine, but when i do a reboot I just get a wierd green & red speckled screen.
I have tried to update the rom twice now, once when the xda was on, & once from the bootloader screen.
Both times it seems to install correctly, but i get the strange screen.
HELP!!!
Add. My battery seemed to go to about 30% whilst i was updating. Could it be the battery? Can't charge it now to test. Can still get in bootloader screen.

I have exactually the same problem!
I downloaded the latest ROM from the My-XDA webiste (O2 Ireland) and it supports the XDA Exec as sold in UK and Ireland.
The upgrade goes fine but when I hard reset it just get a fuzzy screen full of red/green spots (lise interferance on a TV).
Have reinstalled the ROM from another PC and the same thing.
Can access the bootloader (v2.01) with no problem.
Have downloaded the ROM from another PC and tried from there and same thing?
Can anyone help?
Is there a known good ROM file that someone has used to rule out the file, as the XDA was fine until I ran the update.

Update
I have tried 2 other ROM's on my XDA Exec and its exactually the same issue.
Once it gets flashed successfully and reboots i get the hazed screen which i cannot use. So its not the ROM file.
Has anyone got help with this, I have searched the posts already and found no solution that it why I have posted this thread.

the screen is funky but the xda is dead
I too am having this problem and am getting very frustrated.
I have searched the forum for hours and am not getting any closer to a sollution.

I had the same problem i think its a dodgy rom on the O2 website
I went into boot mode and used this ROM

IT WORKED!
Not sure how, or why this worked.
But i installed the Crossbow ROM as listed previous and its working.
And can I just say the Exec is brillant now, its much faster, more responsize and works perfectly.
Thanks for the info, but I had tried 2 different ROM's previously and they never worked let I used one previously with no problems.
Either way I am now staying with Mobile 2006.

i have the same problem as you guys.
and more i can get my xda exec in to bootloader usb at the top and v2.01 at the bottom
but when i got to update it with the wm6 upgerade mentioned earlier
i get a connection error, please con somee one help
im using vista could this be the problem i have a hdd around some where that has xp on should i try that.
also i dont know is any of you knew but when ur in that messed up screen

you can change the no/yes's iv only got the enable kitl to do anything though. change it to yes buy using the buttons by the screen and then the center button it take you to the screen below

Hi, i have been trying for the last month and a half to try another rom on my hermes,but it seems i can't.
i have flashed many Roms and i never had a problem in doing that till the las time when i tried to flash into the new S64.
every time i try flashing into any new rom it rejects me by giving me the (ERROR 260) telling me i'm not connected and the USB cardle thing, but all of my connections are correct and my ActiveShyn is up to date and i was always flashing roms in the same way.
Some seniors here when i have mentioned that told me that it seems i have flashed or reflashed the Hardspl, so i'm trying to reflash the Hardspl, i have tried endless times but it keeps telling me the same althought i have downloaded almost every hardspl that is available in the xda site lol.
what i'm requesting please if possible to direct me in the steps that i need to make my hermes functional again please i'm sure u understand what i'm saying.
some have mentioned that cause i still have the
herm100 i can't flash it into another roms but that sounds a bit strange lol.
I know that i have still herm100 (old) and my ipl-1.01
and spl-1.06 but i think that dosn't matter in my opinion.
Please i request if u can help me in fixing my problem by providing me the steps by simple words and if you have a fresh zips of hardspl coz i'm so confused which one to use, it would be nice to hear how to do it step by step.
i really need your support and excuse me if i'm bothering u with this kind of request but i didn't know where else to go and ask.
My Current rom is the HTC_Hermes_S64_WM_6[1].1_HTC_WWE_v2_30.03.2008 which is old and i would like to refresh my phone by a new version.
i was thinking of the new HTC_HERMES_S64_WM_6.1_TouchFlo2D_UC_ WWE v3 / GER v1 but i don't know if it would work on my herm100 cause i was told it was designed for herm200 and abouve is that true?
If not well there are so many more roms out there i would like to try but i'm stuck for the moment.
please again i wouldn't have bothered u with my request if i wasn't facing this problem.

have you tried to manually go into the bootloader and flash? You don't need activesync to flash like that if you're connected with USB. Also, from your SD card. Both have worked for me in the past.

Though you should have Hard SPL installed if you want to use the sd card method.

i have tried to do it manualy but i not much of a luck in loading the Hard SPL.
I really don't know what to do. i can't even f;ash to the original htc rom .
what else can i do?

1. Check your usb cable.
2. Try different USB ports in ur PC,
3. Check if the mini USB in Hermes is not damaged.
4. Check the bootloader if you have HardSPL installed.
5. Try SD method,
6. Read the wiki.

I had the same problem. If you can activesync with the cable then all you need to do as already mentioned above.
With the phone attached manually go into bootloader (hold on/off on right of phone and 'ok' on the left of phone both in while you prod the phone reset at the bottom of the device).
When you have the multicoloured boot loader run the update and it should work fine.

after phone couldnt powered on, been doing the tri color thing and tryed to upgrade to nrg's rom. while running the uspl it says phone not connected, but when i running the update it does recognize the phone till it gives the error 270
any suggestions why phone seem to b unconnected while trying runing uspl? thx

Flash via SD Info of name for file can be found via search or in NRG thread know it was stated... "would find it but very limited data and pap speed"

managed to flash the beautiful rom of nrg-thanks a lot for this rom..
i cant seem to b able to c the windows folder though....
any suggestions?
