Call ID not functioning properly - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Please don't flame me if this has already been asked a million times, but I've searched and browsed the forums unsuccessfully for an answer to my problem with no success...
I'm having a problem with the caller ID in my PDA2K. When I recieve phone calls, very often the person's name doesn't appear with the number even though they are in my Contacts. It happens at random, it seems, but its been happening very often lately. Is there an update I should install or something to fix this? I have never updated anything except with the ROM file that I-Mate provides on it's site (which hasn't changed in ages) and the One-Way call bug fix.
Also, while I'm asking... when I set unique ringtones in photo contacts they tend to work at random as well. Is there any known fix for that too?
Thanks in advance.

Missing Incoming SMS/Text messages

My Problem is, that I recieve only some of my SMS/text that was sent to my. So I heard from friends that they sent me a text message, but I didn't get it. There is no pattern on this problem. I have a conversation with 4 sms sent to me, but i only recieve 1,2,4. Message Nr. 3 is missing. Sometimes its also the first message thats lost.
All my friend got the status for sms/text activated and they get the status "delivered" for the lost messages.
Someone else that problem?
I only have seen the problem about sending, but none with getting.
yeah the same happened to me recently, but only with my GF number (same operator), not other contacts (AFAIK: since no one complained, no sms got missed!). still no diagnosis, and no solution obviously. hope that won't lead to a hard reset, which is a major pain
I had an issue that my sim card was full - it seemed the phone was trying to save sms to the sim. I deleted a few and now all seems okay. However they can't be going to the sim any more as I have received more than I deleted.
This happened after I had been using a spare phone as I went camping and needed a phone that had a few days battery life instead of the day or so that my touch pro 2 has
thanks for your help smudge.
it's not my case since my sim card is blank, no sms or contacts in it.
however, yesterday evening I hard resetted the phone, now I'm waiting to test if the problem is still here. If it is, it must be the operator's fault, or something related to my GF device / SIM. I'll let you know if I discover something new...
I have similar problem - I'm supposed to receive SMS, but I don't. I didnt have this problem (I didnt notice it) before I installed latest version of S2U2, maybe there's some problem with it? I have S2U2 set to show incoming SMS/MMS messages...
Also I have enabled hack mentioned in this forum which powers on mobile on receiving message (so it is displayed on the screen, not only notified by blinking LED and sound as is default setting). Maybe there is some incompatibility with S2U2, Im trying to pipoint this.
ChAr
uhm...missing sms should be the operator's problem,
i've been having such issue not only with TP2.....not all the time but usually consecutive sms with only one person usually caused it
i have the same problem, tried hard resets rom flash but no success!
i am from austria!..
please somone fix that thing
after HR yesterday evening no more missed sms until now, no one I had notice of. but that doesn't make me feel safe, it needs to be checked further.
surely gunggu is true!
sorry, probably ot, but i have the opposite problem.
I have too much sms in the incoming folder: I can see my sent sms. That means an sms like (me: hi bla bla..)
the received notification is disabled. any hint?
so after some tests, I figured out my problem.
It was the programm proxy cab, that I used. If it is installed, I got only every second sms, after it is deinstalled I got every sms...
Strange problem.
Hey there people all much smarter than me. I just bout a HTC touch pro 2 (i know 2009 called and wants their phone back) anyway i am having this problem of some sms messages not getting through. i have not been able to see a pattern due to not finding out about missing messages till sometimes weeks after i missed getting them
if anyone found a solution thats not alreay mentioned in this thread (cant find an option to save stuff to the sim)(cant find mention anywhere of "program proxy cab"
any help would be great otherwise i will have to go back to using my HTC tytn 2

[Q] SMS / Text Message Timestamp Incorrect

Hi Guys - i've posted this in the HD7 specific forum too - please let me know if multiple posts is frowned upon and i'll delete it.
Anyway...
I've been searching and searching and I cant find anyone with the same problem as me, on WP7 or HD7. Basically the times are completely wack on the text messages i receive. The could be a few hours behind, or usually entire days behind, and my personal favorite, from the future.
No idea what's going on. Everything seems fine in the settings - been over them 100 times. I've seen it as being a common issue with some older phones, but nothing on the latest ones.
Has anyone had this? Or even better, does anyone know how to fix it? The text messages that I send are stamped correctly, so it's just the ones i receive. It looks like the phone is using the time sent from the carrier, and then applying some wacky timezone to it based off my timezone (which is Auckland, New Zealand).
Help!
I have this exact same problem.
My outgoing texts display the time correctly but incomg is off by something like 5 hours. I've searched the forums and google and haven't found anything myself.
Answer from Microsoft:
Time stamps for Text messages are encoded and sent from the carriers MMSC message system. If the time stamp is showing up wrong, that is because it is being encoded wrong from the carriers network. Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done device side, you'll want to focus your attention on Rogers in this case.
I suppose other phones possibly counter this by just making the receive time the timestamp as well.

I've never had such an extreme case with a five hour time difference, but it does happen with some incoming texts.
I remember I sent my sis a text at 1:43pm and she replied and the timestamp said 1:38pm. So maybe it depends on the person your texting and how their time is set up?
Well that's a pain. I read that reply from Microsoft too, but it's pretty unhelpful. To be honest using the date stamp from the carrier seems like a poor decision, or at least not having the option to chose, as far as the user is concerned the only date / time they care about is the one on their device.
I guess i'll have to wait and see if someone comes up with a way to change this on the phones, I see there is a way to do it on the WP6 phones.

Incoming calls does not show picture anymore!!

Incoming calls does not show picture anymore!!
I have an EVO 3D, but I have a friend that has the EVO 4G phone and when he use to get his incoming calls he use to get the pictures of the caller showing, they do not anymore, I have checked all his settings, but I do not see anything that would be affecting that. He cannot post as he is clueless to posting in forums, so I figured I would post to see if anyone had a solution, or has heard of this issue before, please advise.
FYI: when I check his people contacts the pictures are there on the contacts. And I also did the latest OTA update for him
Bump, anyone before I end up having to do a FR for him
FWIW A factory reset resolved his issues.
Good to know. I apologize that you didn't get any response.
At least we can file this under problem solved.

[Q] MS2Ginger 2.0 Lite on Defy+

I have flashed this custom ROM onto my new Defy+ as per Walter79s instructions and it is all working fine apart form a few small problems that I haven't been able to find a solution to. I have used search in both Walter79s thread with it's thousands of replies and in the defy forums search and drawn a blank in both.
1. My contacts do not seem to be synced with my SMS, instead of showing a contact it shows a number e.g. +447xxxxxxxxx instead of Boss or Wife or Mother-in-Law!!!. Quite annoying as barely anyone ever signs a text.
2. Any contact (synced from my Blackberry through google sync) who has a photo attached to their gmail account seems to have Chinese characters above their number when viewed in the dialer. Not really an issue just a funny little bug.
3. An aside to this Chinese characters is that when I first installed the ROM a few other things had these characters too. The only one I can remember off the top of my head is the calendar which had the dates both in numbers and Chinese characters. Went away after I reset the location.
Edit: 4. The SMS compose bar is tiny. Is this in anyway adjustable.
I am very new to android but Walter79s MS2Ginger installation guide and Zephyrot's All-in-One have got me through rooting annd flashing on my first custom ROM. Just hope that an ICS/CM9 stable ROM isn't too far away.
Thanks.
I have been searching high and low for this issue and it appears not to be uncommon but with out any definitive fix. I have played around with a number of things, changing all the 07s to +447s just meant that SMS contacts were recognised but callers were not. I also tried a couple of prefix apps, these did work but only showed you the caller in a 3rd party bubble not on the main display. Tried setting IP prefix to 0044 but this made no difference as I believe it is for outgoing calls only. I haven't managed to find a fix for it but there does seem to be a couple of work arounds.
1. You can double up on all your contacts e.g. have both 07123456789 and +447123456789 listed under the same contact. A right pain with so many numbers. Also tried exporting and "find and replace" 07 with +44, this lead to some interesting numbers where the 07 was in the middle!
2. Live with the prefixer app so you can see who is calling and SMS contacts. OK but not great for missed calls or call logs to clients or colleagues.
3. Live with it or go back to the original Defy+ ROM. Rather not as that MotoBlur thing got right on my wick.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Update: Using my Sherlock Holmes like powers of deduction I have managed to find the source of this problem. My contacts book only appears to be using a max of 11 digits to identify numbers. It will recognise 07xxxxxxxxx but not +447xxxxxxxxx. However if I change the number that is saved to 47xxxxxxxxx the contact is recognised. I'm going to try re-flashing the ROM to see if it's just an error that occurred during instillation. If this doesn't work I will try a different ROM.
I am wondering whether my baseband setting might have any connection to this? It is currently EPU93_U_00.60.00 but there are several UK specific options in my baseband selector. None for my provider (Vodaphone) so I am a bit cautious of changing this.
Once again any ideas would be gratefully received.
Flashed MS2Ginger2.1 with deblur patch. Working great. Thanks Walter79! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140839

[Help] People Contact Numbers

Hello
I have a weird issue with my HTC One m8, since after updating to the latest firmware 2.22.401.5 the issue is with the People app, sometimes when I receive calls I don't see the caller name (although its saved in my address book), only the number shows up as if the contact is not saved.
This issue happens with random numbers in my phone, some contact names come up normally.
I've checked to see if there are duplicate numbers saved, that wasn't the issue. I also cleared People apk data and re-synced with Google but still didn't work.
Anyone facing the same issue? or anyone has a solution?
regards,
