Unable to change to WM5

For some reason I am unable to upgrade to WM5, maybe it's because it's a new phone and the upgrade only works on later models.
Have tried using the programs found on the Wiki site but with no joy.
Am still having problems with playing media files (mainly video) with the Windows Media 10 (lots of people seem to have the version 9), is there a better media player I can download?
Media player
Try TCPMP from here: http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/
It works well for me. You may also want to convert your files to a smaller size with the right res (320x240) and for that I use Pocket Divx Encoder available here: http://divx.ppccool.com/
thanks stoo, unfortunatley the first link doesn't seem to work, even from a direct google search, maybe the site is down.
Tried the Pocket Divx Encoder but the encoded file still is'nt recognized by the WMplayer, any ideas?

playing m4a media files

I recently had a windows mobile 5 phone with a default tuma 1.3 installation, which happily played m4a music files on windows media player.
I now have the same phone running a standard orange uk installation of mobile 2003, running media player 10, but it no longer plays these files.
Does anyone know why? If so does anyone know how i can play these files again on 2003?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
m4a is actually AAC encoded audio. Look for a player that supports AAC format.
pocket music or pocket player can play it,try it
or just install the cab I posted a few times already
Mi_MediaSupportv2.CAB
so that WMP10 can play it as well... it's mono only though..

slow windows media player. Using kavana 6.1

Hi all, I'm using the remade version of Kavana 6.1, and I love almost everything about it. Sliding Panels, threaded SMS, etc. The only thing that drives me nuts is, I use my phone as my main mp3 player with Moto S9's. Whenever I change a song in windows media player, it is terribly sloooow to change the song. Usually a 6-7 second delay, but when I was using the original wm6 rogers rom, it was pretty quick and snappy.
Any ideas? Maybe a different media player? I have no other aps running in the background, only WM player. Thanks for all your help everyone

Have you tried overclocking it a little? Try running it at 216mhz. I wouldn't go past 240, seriously.

You can't beat it WMP is a resource hog with lack of codecs and when anyone brings up this lagy playback between tracks it eather WMP or AudioManager.
i noticed this problem as well with wmp mobile and a lot of songs on the SD device. are there updates for the player that could fix this issue or tweaks? i hate having to buy another player and then having to re-encode my tracks from wma pro 10.
TCPMP works great, great sound, EQ, light on the Ram, ohh yeeeaaaa.
Is there a way to make TCPMP the default to stream audio instead of the WMP?
I tried to get TCPMP to load today but get a message that it is not compatible with my device (a Dash with Kavana 6.1). Any thoughts? Do you have a link for a download or suggestions about what is up?
How does avi play on these other media players (if at all)?
TCPMP needs to be installed in the phone memory not the storage card.
avi plays great on tcpmp. i get dvd quality but they do take up alot of space

HTC Advantage and Steaming Media Player

hello everyone, im not new to the forums but this is my first time posting. My problem is that I wish to use TCPMP in order to view streams but cannot due to Streaming Media Player being a default program. Now I have all the correct plugins for TCPMP but no matter what I do everytime I click on a flv link streaming media player pops up. I see no way to uninstall this or get around it and its getting really irritating because the video is always choppy and never connects properly. My question to you all is if there was a way to get rid of this program so that I might actually be able to use TCPMP to stream?. Or maybe even a way to save flv files and launch them from the tcpmp player? (without having to sync with pc, im on the road alot due to work)
HTC Advantage x7501 , original rom
or could I use some kind of registry tool to change or erase it? I would really appreciate any kind of help
Try to set the file associations in TCPMP.
doesn't work tried it a hundred times

Mortplayer on CE 5.0

Hey,
I have a PNA with CE 5.0 ARM929..
The plan is(was) to build it into my car as video/music player.
I now have a problem.
I just wanted to use Mortplayer with my own skin, but Mortplayer won't start.
I guess it's because several dll's are missing
(needed: gx.dll, mfcce300.dll, coredll.dll, commctrl.dll, aygshell.dll, olece300.dll, ole32.dll, oleaut32.dll, wininet.dll, winsock.dll)
I don't have any of those (besides gx.dll, its shipped) in my "/windows".
The ROM of the device seems very small, around 600KB with most used by the system, so I can't just coppy those missing dll's. Any ideas? Is it possible to store them on SD?
I realy need a playlist based mp3 player, Mortplayer is the only I have found..
Or Maybe you know another player?
Thank you
