How to delete registry, hide Storage, etc? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hello,
So I want to upgrade once again my BlueAngel, but as far as I understand, the upgrading doesn't delete the registry. I want to delete it manually, how should I proceed? And how do I hide the Storage? I remeber I unhided it, but now I want to put it back, to hide it and to get my BlueAngel like new
Any ideas? Thanks.

...where did you get your info from?
A ROM up/downgrade will DELETE everything on your device, including register and ExtendedROM (i think that's what you mean by Storage)...

Info from...
It was a deduction. I upgraded 3 days ago to WM2005, but decided to go back to WM2003se, because of the speed. Updated radio/rom/ext_rom and today, while cheking files, I discovered in /Storage the old 2005 windows folder, even a screeshot I took while I was on WM2005.
So not everything was erased during a complete install of wm2003se.
What do you think?

...you've got me...i dunno...i'm speechless. Someone else any idears?...

I haven't played with a blue angel in a while but as I recall, after it hard resets from the upgrade, you press one of the buttons on the left side to enter a menu from which you can wiope everything clean. I forget the details but they're available with a quick search of this site and/or the wiki.

Serial 1/0/usb1.0 screens

Help,
I upgraded my radio on my o2 exec from 1.4.02 to 1.6.0 just now.
using this link- ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Universal/Universal Radio Only Upgrade 1.06.00.rar
The first time it came up with country error code. I did have the sim and SD cards in.
Then I saw a link to an o2 exec version and ran that. All seemed ok when the Universal rebooted and gave me the serial pages.
Now I cant go any futher and soft/hard reset does not work. Also tried siver power button/backlight button/reset and that does not work.
Has it passed on or can I recover it?
John
there is a thread round here somewhere about recovering that, have a search, i cant remember the titlename now, but it was a while ago the fix was discovered
Thanks Carvivor,
I dived in (as is my want) and found some threads which helped.
In the end I managed to do a hard reset and 0.
Then I installed the latest rom 1.13.188 and am now trying the 1.6.0 radio again. (Glutten for punishment)
I will back up the 1Gb SD card at home and see what need installing again. I assume all apps. (iLauncher, pocketbreeze and lots more) even though most apps are installed on the SD. I also assume most apps have reg entries which will now be gone?
I hope at least the config files can be copied back over. Maybe the two apps configs above can be restored after re-installation.
I have also put on Novii remote which is very good and took me over a day to config in WS mode. I hope the configs are on the SD.
I want corporate mode back and I think its 0506?

Deleting files from an unlocked ExtROM

My most new annoying experience...
Everytime I delete some files from ExtROM that I don't want to install in the event of an hardreset, they reappear again after a softreseting the device.
Even powering the device down, and waitting more than 10secs, as several times suggested in this forum.
Maybe a silly question, but any ideas to overcome this?
Don't tell me the only way is to coock a new .nbf Extended ROM!?
It is? :?
have you try formatting the extended storage? i used resco file explorer to format it after unlock the extended rom storage.
No I didn't format, as I wanted to delete just some files.
Should I Format?
And then?
- reflash the ExtROM .nbf, and delete unwanted files?
or
- just copy the ones I want to keep?
Also realized that extra files copied into, disappear after softreset
This thing seems to have own life...
Nothing of these behaviours were happening with previous ExtROM form Qtek (1.13.151 WWE).
Is it a different philosophy between Qtek and i-mate, for ExtROM?
Why these different behaviours?

Thanks for the hint. It worked!
Finally I think that I got the complete picture.
All difficulties to unlock Ext ROM on this new i-mate ROM, and a comment at another thread, made me think that once unlocked, it wouldn't be needed to repeat it again after further Hardresets. Changing the Reg settings accordingly, would be enough (WRONG!).
Silly conclusion... in fact Ext ROM was visible, but still protected.
The mommentary ability to delete and add files, leaded o a false confirmation that every thing was ok.
Now I can delete and add files to Ext ROM without problems!
Thanks all, the moved me to the rigth track.
Well after a hard reset this time I did not run the un-locker cab again, just changed the registry values. I have deleted a number of cabs, and installed two programs to the space freed by deleting the cabs. I've turned my device off for a couple of hours, and did a soft reset. So far this time my ExtROM is still there, as are my programs.
Granted this is not what I expected to occur.

Realy strange...
That were also these comments which caused my confusion before. Now I don't know what to think anymore :?
But will follow only the procedure that works for me.
Unlocking ExtROM on this ROM, turnned to be a really tricky procedure.
For me it only works if I enter the Reg settings manually...
Any attempt to insert them with a Cab file turns into failure to unlock ExtROM. Independent if I run the unlock tool before or after, followed by a softreset
You have to edit the "Config" file.

extrom like normal disk

Hi all, i have problem with extrom. I cant find solution for long time. I would like use extrom as normal disk, that means i would like to install programs on it and modify files on it.
I normaly do it, but big problem is after reset, when my files are replaced by original files from ext rom.
I tried many roms a same like dopod 900 aku 2.6 dont do it(after reset my files staied ext rom). I dont know where is the problem, mayby somehere in registry.
I dont know, where is original files backup. because i delete all files from extrom and tried find some of them in windows directory,no was there. But after soft reset original files are still here.
Please help
I would like to second the motion for this request. I do so with the full understanding that this question is already discussed in the forum. However, the threads are soooo long and contain information that is often conflicting. I have already followed along and tried several different methods of effecting this exact result. In the end, I have the EXT ROM area visible, but I cannot rid it of the O2 files and open it for use like the iPAQ File Store I used to have in my previous device.
Again, I apologize for requesting this information that already exists, but a definitive How To would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your consideration...and more importantly, all of the hard work put into the site!
you need to both UNHIDE (make it visable) and UNLOCK it...that is you need 2 cabs to do this
Thank you; I understand that I need to both unhide and unlock this area. I have attempted this several times in several ways with several tools/executables...
good, now is ok. Before i used only extunhider. Now i run ext rom unlocker and it is ok

TomTom question (I feel bad asking...but)

I searched all the threads containing tomtom and WM6. I have a legitamate copy of tomtom that came with my german o2 orbit. i just put bepes wm6 on my phone and have been trying to figure out how to get the tomtom program back on it. i looked through all the files and options on my tomtom home and on the cd it came with but nothing other than the option to install the maps (already there) seems to be present. am i retarded? (dont worry I can take an honest answer) or is there no straight forward way to get this back on my phone without changing back to another rom?
Just run the cab file on your memory card. Thats what I did and it worked.
Tried that, I knew I would have some issues with this so I made sure to look everything up before the upgrade. When I try to run any of the files on my card it tells me there is no application to run the software. I am downloading the 'taster version' of tomtom for the 3600 form HTC right now, I will see if that does the trick.

Had the same issue, as alway the forum to the rescue
OK, that worked, now how to get it to show on the today screen...option is not in the today menu option.
I used a borrowed IMEI to get this off of HTC's website.
Anyone want a copy of this?

How to remove Office6? (the traditional way didn't work)

I going through a fight to find a working version of Office Mobile for my Qtek 9090 Blue Angel running WM6.11. Nothing seems to work - especially the Word Mobile never works.
So in my desperation I tried installing a version which I later saw was meant for WM5, this one: Office.WM6.WCE.BY.cab found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305854.
In any case I'm now trying to uninstall it. I have gone through the remove program thing in settings, but the "Office6" folder still appears in the Programs folder on my device. I suppose I now need to manually remove the folders - like in good old windows style. Could someone tell me how to do that or where to find the "Office6" folder? I looked in "programs" and Windows and other places, but no luck.
Thanks in advance for hints!
/martin
Ok, I gave up on getting rid of Office 6 and instead flashed with a new ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406372. That turned out just fine and the included Office6 cab even worked
