Hello, Long time veiwer first post. I Work for a local company that sells Cingular Wireless. I had a customer come in today that wanted to use there XDA III to access Internet on the laptop. No problem! wrong. In following all the similar Easy Steps guides that i read, i ran into to a small but major problem. I disabled the Activesync and on the XDA went start>Programs>Wmodem. I choose USB in the drop down and clicked start. No errors came up on the XDA but according to all the guides, Windows should have said "New Hardware Found". Aftert that install the drivers. Well thats the problem is that windows doesnt indicate any new device attached to it. Yet Activesync will sync just fine when enabled. So if the laptop cant see the modem then no internet. My Question's are,
1.) Is there maybe something that im missing or is the phones modem bad?
2.) If there isnt anything im doing wrong, Is there a seperate Program i can install on the XDA that works the same as WMODEM?
The customer is planing a Business trip this Saturday so any response between now and then would much appriecated!

Hi guys, im new here, and i hope someone can help me....... now i have problems with my XDA IIs .... it keeps crashing and i have to soft reset the device 3-4 times a day! this i can handle., but it is always thinking about what it is doing rather than doing it..... now it is as fast and as much memory as xda 2, i just upgraded from xda 2 and found that xda 2 was a more stable Os. (i have another question involving the Os ,but will ask that in a bit, ) now my real problem is that i cannot seem to be able to send anything by bluetooth..... i pair a device but even when they are paired, it wont detect any devices it searches and stuff, even connects via Ir , but not BT... i have a couple of bluetooth devices at home that i can connect to....... and they are turned on..... but just cannot find anything to connect to.
now hopefully someone can help me with the bluetooth thing, but if not, then my next question is, i downloaded the latest update from the xda website at www.o2.co.uk , if i install over the old with the new( its still the same version, ) with a clean install, will that work, or is that the same as doing a hard reset???
next question, i downloaded the XDA IIi update......... if i install that, will it work on my XDAIIs or will it just poop up??? if i tried it, will i be able to put the existing one back????
any suggestions.????
i work at o2 in the credit control dept, but i dont have any time to call them as there office hours will prob be my shift hours, plus i have heard that you have more luck asking a local bum for solutions...
please help.....
anyone know how to send files by bluetooth from xda 2s then, cos its driving me mad. i reinstalled the os and everything but bluetooth is sorted.
please help
Has anyone been able to install Rogers' Mymail on their Blue Angel?
When I go to the site (mymail.rogers.com/ota) it doesn't give me an option to download the application.
- According to Rogers tech support, MyMail will not work on the BA (PDA2K for me).
- Since you must install the client APP through the browser on the PDA2K, it sees that you aren't using the HP 6325 and gives you an error message.
- This is based on what Rogers told me though, not from my own experience.
- I've been using GetMail on my PDA2K using the SX56 client for a couple of months, and am relectant to switch to MyMail unless there is some real advantiage to do so.
- Security issues aside, apparently MyMail can't be configured to dial-up only when user requested like GetMail. This is a drawback for since I need to "pull" e-mail when I want it, not every 5 minutes (or whatever specified time interval).
- If you do hear of someone getting the MyMail client for the HP running on their BA, let me know!!
Thanks,
Rombo

I guess there may be a registry hack to get IE to announce itself as an IPAQ?
I don't see how the software would be different...[/code]
Where can I find getmail?
- Strange that they've taken it off the Rogers site already. I guess since it was replaced by MyMail, there is no longer a need for it?
- I can e-mail you the two GetMail .exe files, then you would need Rogers tech support to walk you through the install, since I don't recall which you need to install first.
- The files are 5.5MB and 2.9MB

Different answers
Hey guys, I got different answers from Rogers. I've tried three times to get the device app installed, and the last two times I just told them I had an IPAQ 6325. Seems the Rogers Navigate browser provides a direct link to the /ota site, while regular PPC browsers take you to the normal mymail website.
Does GetMail provide real time push? I've been using Smartner and it's not too bad, but only pushed every 10 minutes or so.
Groo - did Rogers walk you through the install?

the did walk me through the install. I told them that I had an Ipaq as well. They claimed that I was seeing the non-wap version of the page.. didn't make much sense... I'm sure the app asks the device to identify itself. I'm sure a simple registry entry could fool it... Not really sure if it's worth going any further..
I thought it might be a Wap thing, so I installed EZWap but got the same result.
How is GetMail working? Is it real time push?

I have no clue, still looking for the binaries for getmail
Rogers Getmail is pull mail only
I've been using the GetMail app with Rogers' Enhanced Wireless Desktop for about a year.
Last Thursday, something broke. When I called Rogers tech support, I was told that Enhanced Wireless Desktop had been decommissioned and that I would have to start using MyMail... There's a catch... Only Rogers-provided devices are permitted to download the .CAB file so I'm out of luck with my PDA2K since it's not a 'supported' Rogers device  !
I told them I don't need them to support my device... Just give me the .CAB file and I'll take care of getting the app working. No dice!
If anyone has the .CAB file, or has some sort of hack to have the PDA2K appear as an ipaq h6320/h6325, please let me know.
Thanks,
Dan.
Rogers GetMail
- I've just posted the GetMail files (in a zip file) for the SX56 client to the ftp site (uploads/BlueAngel/Rogers GetMail).
- Sorry it took so long, but I'm an FTP newbie.
- As of yesterday, GetMail was still working fine on my PDA2K, but Dan makes a good point about Rogers forcing a switch to MyMail, since I recall I had to log in to GetMail through Rogers site to activate it??
- I'll let you know if it crashes, but someone needs a hack for us to get MyMail operational on the PDA2K!!

I stand corrected... I called Rogers again this morning and the tech support person deleted my Enhanced Wireless Desktop account and re-created it and, once I re-installed the Desktop Assistant (on my PC) and Get-Mail client (on my PDA2K), I was up-and-running again.
Rogers technician I spoke to suggested I find someone who owns one of the ipaq 6320 or 6325 and ask them to download/install the MyMail client on an SD card and just handle the rest of the install through registry edit and file copy (if any files are copied to the device RAM instead of the SD card. Anyone out there try this approach or know someone who'd be willing to lend their ipaq for this test?
Dan.
Got it working
Thanks for posting the executables. You can actually download them directly from wirelessdesktop.rogers.com as well.
The install was identical to Mymail (except the device install actually worked).
Seems to work ok, other than it is pull, and the shortest interval is every 15 minutes to sync.
Hi gohabs,
Are you saying you managed to install MyMail on a PDA2K (client install)?
If yes, can you post the .CAB file (for MyMail)?
Thanks,
Dan.
Sorry
No, I meant that I got GetMail installed. I had the same problem as you guys with MyMail on my XDA IIs.
I got the MyMail desktop app installed and configured, but could never get to the ota web page to install the device app.
Getmail works fine on the XDA, so I'm sure if someone can extract the cab for Mymail it will work as well.
Here it is...

Hi There,
Is this the current (as of Dec 15, 2005) version?
Dan.
I upgraded my Cingular 8525 to WM6 (specifically this one: RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3_1_.57.502.1_6275_1.48.00.00_108-ATT-MR3_Ship.exe). Now, when I am connected to my PC via USB cable, and have an ActiveSync connection, it can't check my e-mail via AT&T MEdiaNet. If I'm disconnected, it works just fine.
When I try to connect to MEdiaNet, I get a message that says "Error Syncronizing", then a popup that says "Cannot connect with current connection settings."
I'm using ActiveSync 4.5.0 (build 5096). In File->Connection Settings, I have checked "Allow wireless connection on device when connected to the desktop". Still no good.
AT&T's tech support has been of no help. It worked before I upgraded from the most recent official AT&T ROM to WM6, so I'm assuming there's some setting that's different, and I just don't know what it is.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me, please?
I also had this problem. It only started after I had set up internet sharing. I have currently got Schap's latest rom running. I have been able to get around the issue by setting up a bluetooth relationship with laptop, connecting to laptop, open ActiveSync on phone, menu, connect via bluetooth. Works fine like this.
Got a reply in another forum that solved the problem:
"On the Connection Settings screen there is an option for "This computer connects to?". What is yours set to?
Mine was set to Automatic and would not allow data connections. Once I changed it to Internet it allowed my 8525 to maintain a data connection via 3G when plugged in."
Upgrading to WM6
I am thinking about doing the same thing. Any tips for the upgrade process? Are you happy with the version you flashed to?
If you have checked the box to allow wireless connections to this device when connected to the desktop under connection settings in Activesync then that may well be the problem. Have had that problem with a number of ROMs

Before you upgrade any ROM or radio, the most important thing to do is read, read, read. There are some excellent resources available that will guide you through the process. Most important, as all the resources will tell you, is to install a program called "Hard SPL", a.k.a. Olipro. It reportedly goes a long way toward preventing problems when flashing the ROM. Best of all, like so many other wonderful tools for our HTC phones, it's free!
I'm happy with the version I used, but there is now a slightly updated one available. I had troubles with the battery life with radio version 1.48.00, so I changed to 1.50, which is working better. WM6 is a significant improvement over WM5, in my opinion. Faster, more stable, HTML e-mail, and more. Plus, you can always go back to WM5 if you don't like it.
Good luck!

I suggest reading the upgrade guide at www.mrvanx.org
Be sure to flash HardSPLv7 from Olipro
Yeah, I am really happy with having flashed my device. Once you do it, you can always redo it. Give something a try and see if you like it, then check other threads to see if you may want to try something else. Be sure you get the most recent version of whatever you select.
I am having some problems with "Pocket MSN" and can't connect to messenger, be it through wifi or GPRS. God knows what version I have, I don't know how to find out. My device is WM5, an XDA Orbit from O2 and other than the extra software installed it is as it was out of the box, ROMs wise.
Basically it just says it's signing in forever.
Is this what I should be using to connect to MSN messenger? Is there something better? Is this a common problem? I searched the forums for MSN but it claimed no results (presumably due to query length).
Thanks.
install WM6 and use Windows Live
Do you know of a definitive guide on exactly how to do it? The forum for it seems filled with questions and answers but I didn't see a start to finish guide.
Also I doubt I really have time for that.
sorry but it is the most correct method that i can advise 2u =(
You dont need much time to install wm6 ) 20 min, and that's all.
just download firmware and click install if it is official ROM. Which device is yours?artemis?
Okay, I installed WM6 and it still doesn't work.
I choose sign in and it says I am signed in, but no contacts appear.
Hi All,
I'm new to this and have to admit I'm struggling.
I've recently updated my O2 XDA iis to the windows mobile 6.5 i found on this website. It worked fine for a week and I installed some cabs that came with it. For some reason now, every time i connect to wifi, applications that use the net close immediately without notice and more importantly activesync no longer wants to connect.
Can anybody offer any advice on how to proceed?
I was thinking about formatting is all and reflashing it with the rom again but it wont connect without activesync
Do you received any error when you're connecting your BA to your PC? Did you check the connection? The cables? The firewall? Go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428030 and ask there since your question is related to that ROM. Don't just open a new one, you know...to make our forum clean. Look 48 members already look at your thread but no one dares to reply. Go to that thread and maybe read everything. Maybe your question has an answer already. Cheers man.
