com ports with tomtom5 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

can't get bluetooth receiver to connect only connect to 6 and 7 need it to connect to 2 and three :?:

Follow EXACTLY
Tomtom Installation...
There are 3 key steps in making TomTom 5 work on an i-mate JasJar with a Bluetooth GPS.
Many tips are scattered around in different Forums.
Here is a COMPLETE overview of what to do.
STEP 1 : INSTALL TOMTOM5
You do this by copying the CAB files from the CDROM (eg F:\PocketPC) to the JasJar and launch one by one from there with the explorer of the JasJar.
You can install voices the same manner by copying the CAB files to the Jasjar (eg from F:\Voice on the CDROM)
STEP 2 : UPGRADE TO V5.1
Extract and copy the files to a folder on the JasJar and install them from there.
STEP 3 : ACTIVATE THE GPS CONTROL PANEL
Fire up a registry editor
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings
Delete the DWORD marked "hide"
Add a DWORD called "Group" and give it the value of "2" (dec)
The GPS panel will now show up in your connection settings.
STEP 4 : INSTALL TOMTOM5
1. Establish a bond with your GPS and select the checkbox for serial access.
2. In BT, select the OUTGOING port to 8.
3. In the GPS control panel, select the GPS program to 0 and make sure that the hardware one, is set to None.
4. Start TT5 and the GPS settings, select another bluetooth GPS, and you will see COM 0 free. Select COM 0 and close TT5.
5. At the GPS control panel again, now select COM 8 (before we set it up at 0).
6. At BT: select OUTGOING port to 0.
7. Back again to GPS control panel and select NONE.
8. Finally start TT5 and it should connect automatically. Wait for a couple of seconds and click the GPS settings and you should see it has connected.

Isnt there a way to make TOM TOM 5 work without upgrade 5.1
Hi Ia m unable to upgrade my TOM TOM 5 to 5.1 or 5.2.1 since i nomore have my product code. I move from singapore and am carried just the SD card...now my new XDA Mini S is refusing to connect to the BT-GPS bluetooth reciever on TOM TOM Navigator 5 and i cant upgrade qithout a product/activation code.
Any suggestions or workarounds appreciated to make it work with ver 5 or means to uprade it.
Regards

A Very Simple step Mate, Just upgrade ur tomtom to 5.21 and you will see all the com ports. You dont need to do any registry settings.

XTRA aGPS

Hey all I found something that might work on the Samsung Epix for a faster GPS lock.
I found this on modaco.
dmk679 said:
With the emergence of an updated i910 rom, gps functionality is unlocked - great news! Through real-world testing, it is apparent that gps functionality is standalone (without aGPS). A big pro of a standalone gps is the independent function without data services. A big con is that it may take a few minutes to obtain a successful lock, which can be frustrating in some situations. The goal of this discussion is to enable aGPS on the verizon i910 (omnia).
Target 1 - XTRA
The samsung i900 (gsm) has an additional control panel applet named Enhanced GPS. This control panel applet initiates the executable \windows\gps_xtra.exe (aka XTRA) on the handheld. XTRA contacts a server (notably: test.agps.com:7275 or xtra1.gpsonextra.net:80) to download an xtra.bin file. The xtra.bin file contains satellite information to allow for much faster locks. The gps_xtra.exe on the i910 does not open a window to allow for user interaction. A different version of XTRA (attached), opens on the i910 and also interacts with registry settings in hklm/software/samsung/ril/gps/xtra. Although the user can interact with this version of XTRA, we are unable to download updated xtra.bin files using the phone data services or through activesync. Manually downloading the xtra.bin file from xtra1.gpsonextra.net and placing the file in the devices root directory (ie \My Device) allows XTRA to read the date/time stamp from the file. For additional testing of successfully running XTRA on the i910, a comparison of registry values and files from the i900 needs to occur. View XTRA screen shots and settings from this samsung-omnia thread.
Target 2 - Registry
The i910 registry has several folders of interest related to aGPS settings. hklm/software/samsung/ril/gps and hklm/software/samsung/ril/gps/xtra . Note that the XTRA directory is not present using any of the current Verizon roms and needs to be manually created, with keys setup similar to the i900.

Manipulation of these registry keys may prove useful in unlocking aGPS on the i910.
Target 3 - qpst gpsone settings
By connecting the i910 to qpst, an internal qualcomm program to set/debug phone, gpsone settings can be viewed and manipulated. In many succesful aGPS setups on other devices, gpsone settings will be edited and entered "in sync" with appropriate registry settings - see aGPS setup for vx6800 on xda. For example, if an ip address for an aGPS server is entered in qpst, the associated ip can be entered in the serveraddress registry key listed above. Below is an image of the qpst gpsone tab on a motoq - the gpsone tab one the i910 has identical input options.
By setting up the appropriate aGPS settings in qpst and/or the registry, it may be possible to obtain aGPS functionality. View this thread over at xda regarding settings used on an HTC which have resulted in successful aGPS setup. Obtaining the default gpsone settings from an i900 device may prove helpful.
Summary
We have at least three targets to get aGPS working on the i910:
1) get XTRA to work properly (or get quickGPS to work - which functions in a similar manner)
2) modify registry in hklm/software/samsung/ril/gps and hklm/software/samsung/ril/gps/xtra (note xtra directory must be added; see above for i900 keys for both directories)
3) modify gpsone settings using qpst
Lets work together and see if we can obtain aGPS on the i910.
ps: you can run command line entries on the i910. First enable the clock to display in the taskbar (should be under the clock setting in the ctrl panel). Open an application (eg File Explorer) to display the clock in the upper task bar. Hold down the middle button on the bottom of the i910. Tap and hold the clock in the taskbar. Upon release of the clock, you will be prompted with a "Run" dialog box that will allow you to run command line strings.

I am going to test it and post the results.
Another useful thread: http://www.samsung-omnia.org/precise-gps-navigation/how-to-enhance-your-gps-lock-times-and-speed/
REMEMBER always back up before editing the registry!
Hmmm, i amgoing to restore back up and just change the server address and add the XTRA key and see what happens.
I get a "Unable to acess server error" when clicking download data.

[Q] Gps auto data delete

Hi. I'm a fun of yours work on Samsung Wave. I come here to ask if is possibile to create a program that automatically delete the gps+ data.
I have the JL2 unofficial fw on my Wave and I checked that, without a manual delete data + gps, they are not downloaded. It 's always necessary, any time, enter the secret menu (*#4097*4097#) and manually delete the data.
It would be possible to build a tool able to do this procedure automatically and, perhaps, start Route66 in the same time. In short, do everything with one click. With this settings the fix of our Wave will be always in the order of time of 20-30 seconds. It's possible in yours opinion?
Why do you need to delete any data? I've installed Sygic and i get a lock after about 10-20 sec ....

Is difficult to explain the situation. I use Ruote66 and fw JL2. I haven't a flat plan on phone and I use wap configuration. I think isn't a problem of Ruote66 but of the internal settings of gps. In my case, if I don't used the gps from a week, the fix is slow (12 min). I have active gps+ but the download doesn't run automaticaly if I delete gps data.

Becouse I buyed Route66. I want use it and not another software.
Question: Can you give me the fw in your Wave and the setting in secret menù of gps (*#4097*4097#)? My interest is for "gps type" and the value of "time - out" in the "application settings". Thanks
Time out - 60000
GPS Device-Type - HYBRID
I found that setting a timeout to 1000 worked a little better but effectively deleting the data gets it going more quickly. That is after setting up the system correctly in the first place.

I use this settings:
gps mode: standalone;
gps option: location+ velocity + altitude;
session type: tracking mode;
gps device - type; build - in;
data receive..: All;
time out: 60000 (change to 1000);
Horizzontal Accuracy: 1000;
Vertical Accuracy: 500;
I tryed to use the hybrid type of gps, but my apn doesn't support traffic of data. So I set built - in and it's ok if I delete gps data. Now, the most rational solution is waiting a new fw that, perhaps, will solve this problem but my idea is easy and can give to all those who use route66 an immediately solution.
So, there is anyone that can realise this application? Is possible?
Here's how I got mine working correctly. (effectively I finish with Nezmanpro's settings as well)
1. Dial *#4097*4097#
2. Choose 3-User setting
3. Choose 1-Assist Method Type then select AGPS. System will reboot.
4. When the phone boots and returns to idle mode (after entering pin and checking the SD Card) dial *#4097*4097#.
2. Choose 3-User setting
3. Choose 2-SUPL Setting and set the options as below
Use AGPS or NOT = On
MT-Auto Configuration = Off
SUPL MT-Response Type = Accept
Server Address Type = IP_ADDRESS
Server FQDN Type = Custom Config (this was originally BMC LIVE TEST )
SUPL Secure Socket = Off
Server IP Address = 74.125.77.192
Server Port = 7276
I then go back up to "Server Address Type" and set that to "HOST_NAME". I can then set Server Custom FQDN = supl.google.com
I think there's a bug here as the port should also be available when using a host name - when choosing host_name the port field is locked, that's the reason behind going back up and changing the "Server Address type".
Save this. then go into 4-Network Profile
4. Set the network to the one you use for your internet access, not the mms.
5. Check that in the PDR Setting all is checked.
6. Go back to the main menu of LBS Application then select 2. Application Setting
7. Set the following options:
GPS Mode = A-GPS CP Based
(See the following post for further info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=729118)
GPS Option = Location+Velocity + Altitude
Session Type = Tracking Mode
GPS Device-Type = HYBRID
Date Recieve Type = All
Time Out = 1000 (like Nezmanpro)
Horizontal Accuracy = 100
Vertical Accuracy = 500
8. I then go back into User Setting
9. Back into Assist Method
10. Set Assist Method Type = GPS+
System will restart
11.When the phone boots and returns to idle mode (after entering pin and checking the SD Card) dial *#4097*4097# to get back to the LBS Application.
12. Go back into 3-User Setting
You'll see that SUPL settings are no longer present.
13. Go into GPS+ Setting and check that Auto Download = Enabled
14. Go back to the LBS Application menu then 6- DELETE GPS DATA
16. Happy navigation. Phew

Ok. But you must always manually delete gps data after this operation? I Knew that this operation was for functionally to have more speed to data download but my problem doesn't solve, becouse you must always delete gps data. Or not?
In order to get a fix quickly - ahem - in less than 3 minutes I need to delete the gps data.
Compared to a HTC hero I have the impression that the phone has no A in GPS.
the HTC hero locks in under 30 seconds the wave in under 3 minutes.

An application that auto deletes the gps data would fix this problem.
So the Wave does not use network assisted GPS? Then those Application settings in the GPS menu do not make sense other than the Standalone mode?

Having deleted the gps data this morning. I put the phone in 3G mode... gps lock in under a minute... I think YES the phone is capable of being assisted it's just that Samsung appear to have completely misconfigured and have forgotten to implement the gps data timeout :-(
definitely not something that would get past Steve Jobs....
i think we have nothing to do untill now except waiting a new firmware fixing this
