I'm going to repair a BA PCB - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

My BA stoped recognizing any SD card, by the excelente service of apexlaptops, they tell me that without seing the PDA it coulb be the SD reader or the controller chip.
They say that they can fix it, or send me the components and DIY.
They told me if I have a 0,20mm soldering iron I could do it.
Well... has anybody ever done such a delicate procedure of replacing a chip or a SD reader or anything like it?

..:::HTC Rhodium SIM READER PINS DAMAGED - WONT READ SIM CARD:::..

I damaged(torn off) two of the pins from the sim card reader under the battery from the T-Mobile Touch Pro 2, while taking the sim card out (its a pain taking it out)
now it will not read the sim cards...
PLAN A) i will try to convince HTC to replace it under HTC's manufacturer Warranty...
PLAN B) buy another T-Mobile Touch pro 2 cheap damaged and swap the mainboards, or buy the mainboard if possible alone...
PLAN C) fix it myself by replacing it with one from eBays "Blackberry Curve Card Holder"
PLAN D) leave it on my desk until the dust covers it, and i no longer remeber of the phone...LOL..
so anyone else damaged the sim reader or any other part of the phone???
and yes, i will post pictures of the phone...and the progress of the fix(if i fix it)...and that is not the actual picture,...its a FCC pic. that is where the sim reader is....if i choose to fix it, i think i don't even have to unscrew the back housing since i can even see the solder connections with the battery removed
Hey, how did you damaged them? I have just realised that I have the same problem in one of my xperia x1. When I look at sim slot I can see two pins which looks different from the others and from this in my second (working) xperia. Now I am thinking how to get to them.
I'd like to hear the "ran over" story...

Nothing really, only a few minor scratches here and there, that´s it

Anyway to load android w/ broken SD reader?

android stopped working on my phone ever since my reader crapped out. So as the title states. Anyway?
Sorry, the way android is installed at present requires SD.
The card reader is part of the main flex assembly, and you can buy another off Ebay, however it does require a full disassembly in order to fit it, and will cost about £25, which is a bargain compared to some other phones where a dead SD means a full mainboard replacement.

Anyway to NAND without SD?

The SD card reader on my Kaiser broken and doesn't work... (H/W problem.)
Is there anyway to NAND without SD? My kaiser already HardSPL and I can flash the Android kernal with CustomerRRU.exe via USB. However, it seems SD card is needed to flash the 2nd part (Chief's flavor). Anyway to do this without SD?
Thanks1
As far as I know, once you go NAND you pretty much rely on a working SD card reader. What exactly is wrong with the SD card reader?
If you feel brave and have some soldering skills, you could try to open up your Kaiser and repair it. Most of the time when the SD card reader is broken, the solder joints are broken. Which is not a surprise since the only thing holding the SD card slot is the solder. The annoying problem is getting the protective plate off the card reader slot, if there is one.
Thanks for the reply! My Kaiser seems got a broken flex cable or really serious problem since not only the SD doesn't work, yesterday the phone cannot even detect SIM card! Guess need to fix it one way or the other... Anyway thanks for your reply!
I actually had a similar problem with another phone. Those tiny cables that run through the phone are extremely fragile. I was able to fix it by lightly sanding the connector with 2000 grit sand paper, and coating it with dielectric grease afterward. Even then, I still had to pull it out and push it in again a few times before the cable was working.

External SD card reader broken

I don't know why, but my external sd card reader DOESN'T clip the SD Card when inserted. It always ejects the card
I considered to fix it myself, but it seems that a tiny piece is not fitting well so I'm thinking of ordering a replace part that I could use to get over this.
I have found screens, buttons, SIM readers, but nothing about SD card readers. Do any of you know where to buy this ext. reader?? Thanks!
I believe its directly a part on the motherboard but i could be wrong ...
If it were mine, id just take it apart and fux it myself

Replacing SIM card reader

Recently switched LTE carrier for the N7 and the sim caught a pin on its way out. Broke it unfortunately Anyone know the part number for the board holding the SIM card reader? Been Googling but can't seem to find it Was able to find replacement card readers but I suck at surface mount soldering so that won't work.

Hi, here is the part number and you can get it from ebay but often the touch function is lost after replacing this board.
Just get something like this instead. It's a cheaper and simpler solution to the problem.
There is another option though. While SMD soldering is difficult, you could easily solder a wired SIM card permanently there.
:good:
Thanks! I will look into it and see what I can do. I rather not have to carry an external mifi device.
