I was wondering if there is a project started (or willing to start) to create a section on the FTP for Customization. There are times that I want MMS/GPRS settings (or just the splash screen) for a carrier but don't want the whole EXTROM, and of course I don't want to go through and download the whole extROM for one or two files (if I can properly identify them of course).
I thought it might be a great idea to create a section with MMS, GPRS, splashscreens, themes settings for carriers that sells/resell HTC products, and if no CABs already exist, maybe we could make some
What d'ya say?
You need to have a better look at wiki and the kitchen.
The cooked ext roms have a erk_14x_### page were you can read what files came with what rom.
The ftp site has a dir with that erk and the extraxted files extracted.
Some times you can find the splash screens in bmp and jpg.
Now due to lack off help not all roms have been updated as the task just got boring to do alone and the guy doing it spends to much time failing MCSE tests.
Hope it helps and have fun.
Thanks
I started on the project yesterday with some Greek customization CABs...the work continues I will also look at the kitchen. I downloaded it, it runs on my machine, but before I cook it tells me that its busy - one problem at a time though
All this and more....on my site
category filtering isnt quite done yet, almost, but you can find all customisation cabs and all other cabs ever extracted from roms/ extended roms
I did the himalaya ones by hand, every single ****in last one of em
just try it (look in signature)
Well I am inpressed...
I had a look at the BA cabs on my pda.
If I am allowed to make a suggestion then.
1 Could you put the select button infront of the item and add a borded around it. (on pda i get lost on what i have selected.
2 can you move language up the list after device ?
3 any chance of a info screen (for the ba cooked roms you can cut this info out of wiki)
Like i said it just a sufgestion, i know how much work it is.
1: done
2: ill think about it
3: there already is...but it needs editing a lot (click the magnifying glass)
remember, I do this all myself, for all cabs, for all devices....takes loads of time
well i dont get as lost, thanks.
Saw the comments, cant see how I am to add any.
Im still writing that
 nice !!!
After some tricks at another thread, succeded to unlock Extended ROM.
However, can't find there the usuall 'Config.txt'. Is it normal? Any clue?
the wm5 extended rom's do not seem to use a config.txt file. They use the autorun and setup files. If you add something to the extended rom, put Default_ infront of the file name.
But the process I prefer; is to use an old autorun and config.txt file. I think you can find an example in the forum of BTT's extended rom under a thread called my extended rom. Or look on the xda ftp site.
The old way still works great. I also use the config.txt to copy some sounds and files to the windows directory from my sdcard during reset.
But back to the title of your thread:
I am finding that the new rom is faster and more stable. Radio 1.09.00 seems better. IE and gprs seems a lot faster. Of course, I only kept 4 of the files from the Extended rom. Lots of the cabs in the extended rom add bloat and/or remove/modify settings that I did not want. Push email seems to work, not sure I like the new comm manager. Really don''t like that I can not start the comm manager from keyboard after the rom upgrade. But overall its an improvement.
I wonder how different the official release from I-mate will be from this test version?
Please help I am always getting CONNECTION ERROR
The Update software starts fine, nonetheless after the screen where it shows the CURRENT and FUTURE ROM version, it is stuck
At least Extended ROM 1.13.151 WWE from Qtek9000, still uses Config.txt method.
Just Autorun.exe (fileversion 4.15.0.0) is present, and it seems equivalent to the Setup.exe (fileversion 4.16.0.0) on the new i-mate Rom. The Autorun.exe is much smaller and from a different origin.
Maybe this difference relates to, how Qtek and i-mate aproach the subject.
Another topic are my fellings/experiences with this new i-mate ROM, that I'd like to share with you guys.
ROM Version: 1.30.68 WWE
Errors or Lack of implementation
Still not possible to rotate Camera (landscape / portrait).
Universal backlight button still without effect.
Battery indicator replaced the clock on title bar. It is possible to re-activate the clock at settings (Clock & Alarms) to display in all programs, but however it does not work when at Today screen. :-(
Device Lock plugin is a nice feature, however the ability to make a few settings would be very welcomed. For instance 'Lock/Do no lock' buttons.
Despite it is possible to answer a call from BT headset, when device is locked, it is frustrating not being possible to initiate a call from BT headset ('Voice Speed Dial' not called). However it is possible to repeat last number called/dialed.
'Press' and 'Press&Hold' button associations (e.g. As assigned with PowerButtons from OmegaOne Battery Pack Pro), get easly misleaded. It seems internal timers are not workig properly.
My wishes
MS BT stack to implement sending extra info to 'Caller ID' enabled BT headsets. So they can show Contact name instead of caller number only.
Ability to tap handsfree icon at phone app, to toggle handsfree profile, instead of doing it through the menu (old 'profile' today plugin from WM2003, would be nice too).
Somehow allow Activesync to store Contacts PPC specific information, like associated ringtones (ringtone name should be enough) on PC Outlook Contacts. So the information could be later restored if needed, by synching.
Most of them seem to be MS issues, and nothig to do with HTC, Qtek, i-mate, etc...
Except for the first two, that I believe to be HTC issues in fact.

Hope you back soon!
couldnt get MMS or a pop 3 to work.
WMP10 still plays 320/240 and fails to enlarge
Fn -> doesnt work....
of course the battery / clock on the today is one big screw up, but dont think this is an imate issue, more a MS issue
The new Comm Manager requires a full end task from task manager, not a simple stop. there is no help with Comm Manager, and no "intuitive" understanding as to what the other icons do.
No real additional functionality to the device overall in my view.
But much faster and who can therefore complain about the other stuff....
Actually, I think the Battery/Taskbar problem is an I-mate issue. NOT M$!!
o2 did that on their Blueangel. You have to remove the .dll the i-mate cab adds (by preventing it from installing in first place?) and edit registry to show the clock again
The comm manager is very self explanatory, so I have no idea what you are on about
I agree it has a few other problems, but at least the Uni is now a speedy lil devil and not sluggish

And other minor problem...
I-MATE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?
As anyone noticed pocket outlook now checks you email even when you leave it on a sms or mms account! No more worrying about changing the thing back to email after every text message! nice!
I wouldn't know which .dll it is unless I got a hold of the CAB file from the extended ROM. With o2 it was called batteryinfo.dll and was in the \Windows folder, but also had a few Registry entries to go with it. To add the Time in the taskbar have a look at the following registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell
"TBOpt"=hex:12,00,00,00
Change 2 as follows:
0:blank, 1:time only, 2:date only, 3:date & time
However, I think this will only work once you remove the i-mate battery add-in.
Could you give me a complete Registry Dump of your Device? That way I may find the registry entry that causes the battery to be shown.
Thanks
The battery icon is a MS issue. I have nothing from the extended ROM installed and still have the battery icon. Don't waste your time looking for a fix in the extended ROM. There must be some registry setting that needs to be changed. I'm still looking too....
For those who can't unlock Extended ROM, read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=42812&highlight=
Can't say exactly which sequence of actions made it possible, but it is working stable!
The main issue seems to be that Extended ROM folder, should have a name different of 'Extended_ROM' on registry.
I've used:
- 'Extended ROM' first and it didn't work
- than 'ExtROM' it worked
- and now 'Extended ROM' again. It's working!
At the it is even not needed to run the CAB to unlock. The registry tweaks are enough. Strange....

I'd be looking in the registry if someone gave me a dump of the registry like I asked. It is a I-mate Issue, because the Today plugin is not made by M$?
Here you have my registry dump.
Changing
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell
"TBOpt"
to 3 for example, displays time&date, but overwritting battery icon.
Defenitely it is needed to disable battery icon on title bar, and force the time to display also when on Today screen.
My most new annoying experience...
Everytime I delete some files from ExtROM that I don't want to install at hardreset, they reappear again after a softreset.
Even powering the device down, and waitting more than 10secs, as seral times suggested in this forum.
Maybe a silly question, but any ideas to overcome this?

hello to all
I installed Orange Homescreen on my WM5 blue-angel.
It it by far the cleanest plug-in I've ever used! Two problems though:
1. The URLs seem to be hard coded - anyway of changing that?
2. On the contacts "tab" there is an option for speed dial, but it generates an error when I try to use it - is there some other CAB I need to install?
Thank you!
Hi AdmiralAK,
I love the Orange today plugin too, but have had a lot of trouble installing it on the other Rom's for my Universal. Can you tell which files you used to install it :?:
As for the problems your having:
1. The URL's can be changed by editing the Full_one.xml file.
But your still limited to four.
2. In the Orange Rom, some of the files have a lower case t prefix.
Try changing renaming your speed dial executable. It might work
Thanks!
I downloaded the homescreen cab from somewhere on this board (this was a few days ago so I am not completely sure). I found two versions. One was in the ftp://xda-developers.com/Universal/Extended_ROMs/Orange Extended ROM/
(this one I did not install because I had the otherone already installed)
(ok after a little looking I found it)
I am actually using the Orange Homescreen from the Orange SPV M3100 (hermes device) - this is the one that is installed on my Blue angel and it works without a problem. --> I am attaching it.
(I apologize to the forum for postnig the same file again - I cannot find the link to it)
----
As for the speed dialer - I don't think I have the application installed on my blue angel (I am using the 1.3beta rom from HELMI and I don't seem to be able to find it) in my device - any idea where to get it?
Also, is the XML file that I need to edit in the windows/ directory?
Thanks
google tells me that the full_one.xml file is in my windows directory...but I dont see it :-/
The CAB from the Orange Ext ROM is just the reg settings, its no good without the files from the Orange ROM.
I'll try the file you posted this weekend [if I get the chance] :?
Yes, the XML file is in the Windows folder.
It works inconjuction with the HomeScreen.dll, with some icons stored in contactsico.dll.
I've added these files and the prefixed t files from the Windows folder of my Universal, I hope they're useful.
Have you tried the file ?
Hmm.. performing back up now.. and going to try it out. Hope it is easy to uninstall.
[UPDATE]
Ok, tested out the plugin. It is a nice plugin. Make your phone more like a phone than a PDA. It gives you one hand operation by using the direction buttons, making calls and stuff. However, since it will disable all other plugins, I won't recommend others whom uses Today calendar plugins such as Pocket Breeze, TodayAgenda, TodayPlus, etc.. to use this orange plugin. Uninstall is easy.
Screen shot of it here http://www.coolsmartphone.com/article569.html
under the section `INSIDE`. It is the same for smart phone and pda phone. You will see all the options available. And the 'Today' option actually sends you to the (built in) Calendar day view.
Hi, have you used the cab file and zip file above ?
Ok, I tried the plugin posted here by AdmiralAK, on my Universal.
First thing I noticed was it actually ran on the O2 ROM.
Second thing was how small the icons are compared to the plguin built into the Orange Universal ROM.
But I guess that makes sence as the screens are very different sizes. More importantly must of the plugin works fine.
I'm sure a little editing would probably have it all working.
What I did notice is its totally different to the Universal plugin, none of the files i've edited to get the universal version working the way I want it to, exist in this version. Hence the Full_one.xml, t* and .bmh files are not in the Windows folder.
I've gone back to the Orange ROM, as I have it running the way I want and the bigger icons are easier to use on the Universal. But i'll be keeping this version as I may get a TyTn next year.
Cool program. But too bad, limited customizable.
Hi people,
Great software, I was looking to try this on my MDA Vario. Too bad of it's limitations. Good to try out and see how it works.
Though I was thinking of visually designing a kind of similar application and find some great developers on this site to help me create it. Of course if anyone is interested in this kind of functionality.
Anyone already interested? let me know. i hope to have some draft ideas on here in the form of screenshots as soon as possible. but now it's diner time see ya.
Cheers,
Shah.
I have tried editing the 'full_one.xml' file, then soft reset....however it hasn't changed anything...
did i miss something?
Hi guy,
I've tried to resize the icon of plug-in and it's ok in portrait but no in landscape, I think it's a registry problem for landscape.
I'd like to use the plug-in on no orange rom.
I'll find the way to get more than 4 custom option but i get without icon.
The file full_one.xml is linked with other file of the orange rom so I think that's one problem.
@Shah2,
I'd be interested in a plugin like this, that has a few more options [see below] and works on all ROM's.
I have no programing skills or abilities, but i'd help out where I can.
@minty1978,
The Full_one.xml file only lets you edit the Labels and the URL's in the plugin.
@filippodisvevia,
I'd like to use the plug-in on a none Orange ROM too.
Then I wouldn't have to kepp hiding my Universal from the IT guys at work.
The 3 things I'd like to change on the plugin are:
1. Have more than 5 URL's in the Web section.
2. Have more than 4 programs in the Launch section.
3. Have all seven sections appear on the screen [at least in portrate mode][/i]
I'm a littlebit busy but I want resolve this match.
Stay tuned
Concept Orange Homescreen Pimped Beta 0.1
Hi people,
I told ya that I was interested in making the Orange Homescreen even better than it is at the moment.
THESE ARE PURELY PHOTOSHOP MOCKUPS!
Image number 1 shows the use of today plugin as we know them. It's just to give an example. All the other screens speak for themselves.
If anyone has his/her own ideas please share them in this thread. I would also like to draw the attention of developers who might be interested in creating this for real, and not just some photoshop images, please let me know.
Cheers,
Shah
Hi Shah,
Thats way more complex, than I was looking for.
But, If this was to be built as a new plugin, hopefully it could be scalable, using a .ini or .xml file. Like the real Orange plugin does. 8)
The only I don't really like, is the other plugins showing as in pic.1.
I have other plugins switched on while i'm at work, and the Orange one at night. I find the empty desktop more relaxing.

Hi ZaForD
The complexity is actually quite limited. Because if you use the plugin most of the options are the same. Most of the items are just additions to the rest of the plugin.
And for the pic 1. I can image it's not that nice. But with input we can work on making it more general so that people will like it.
Personally I would like to have the standaard Today screen plugins visible because they are still usefull.
It's also a possibility that all the items are configerable to meet users needs. For example standaard options like the original homescreen for users that want the basic functionalities, and advanced options for users who want more options. so that every page is user configerable.
Anything is possible in Photoshop haha. but seriously if there are any developers who are interested please leave a note.
Cheers,
Shah
I stopped using the plugin - no matter how much I liked it - because it did not show me tasks tat need to be done.
I would be interested in something more complex than it is now (at least show me my tasks) but maybe not as complex as the mockups. scalability would be cool
What do you think he is trying to do?

Any updates on this?
I have a Prophet and tested the plugin, however there are some things that I can't edit (cause I don't have an Orange ROM)...
Hi all,
This is my first post, so I'm a bit nervous as I don't wana sound like a complete noob! Anyways, I've been roaming the threads and forums here for a few months now after I bought an IPaq RX5935 and came across the SDHC problem for the first time.
Since then I've installed and uninstalled various cabs and changed various registry lines to try and solve my SDHC problems, with relative reasonable success (4Gb card is recognized and can be used), but also with some annoying unsuccess. Basically I have installed various sdhc.cabs that I've eventually managed to get to work, but my problem is (as I'm sure everybody is aware) that the card drops out after a resume from standby, and the only way to solve this is with a soft reset. This is my progress so far and nothing has worked:
Added Dword DisablePowerManagement with data = 1 in the following
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Drivers / SDCARD / CLASS / SDMEMORY_Class
Changed PNPUnloadDelay and PNPWaitIODelay to various settings (higher and lower than default) in the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / StorageManager
There's thousands of threads and replies to address this problem but nobody really specifies whether it worked for them and what they did to get it to work. I think people fix their problem and forget to leave posts once their problem is solved. I'm writing this thread for a specific answer from anyone who has managed to solve the standby/resume issue for SDHC on any model or device. Please do not write here saying "I have so and so device and it also doesn't work", or "has anybody got this to work for this device", or "What you wrote above works for me". This thread is for people that have SOLVED this problem and how they managed to do it.
Sorry to sound so harsh but there's so much rubbish in some of the threads, and people looking for an answer have to read through 25 odd pages just to find that there is no answer!
Many thanks in advance.

Hallo, habe das gleiche Problem. Alles versucht... nichts funktioniert dauerhaft. Hast Du zwischenzeitlich eine Lösung gefunden ????? Gruß Gernod
Hi Gernod,
Sorry, still haven't found a solution, I find that I'm using my IPAQ less and less because of this problem. I guess we can only wait!
Jamie
You say you have tried lots of cabs, but you don't say which ones.
The GreateVK and FreePk (authors) patch written for the Fujitsu-Siemens Loox N560 (which I have) has been proven to work on other models and makes as well as the Loox. If it works on your device, then it survives a soft reset and resume from standby. Before this appeared on this forum on other threads, I had offered it to a friend with a Dell Axim 51 and it worked for him. Many others have reported success too.
It is attached. As it installs as a program, it can be removed if it does not work. Must be worth a try?
Hi Fingerstoo,
Thx for your reply...here is a list of the sdhc cabs that I have tried. All work to recognise the SDHC cards, but none of them solve the standby/resume problem:
SDHC With Certs Cab
SDHC_WM6WM5
SDHC Support Kit hurricane and QTEK9100
SDHC Support Kit
SDHC_DRIVERS_FOR_C550_AND_N560_BY_GreateVK_AND_FreePK
I've also added the registry's from my first post, plus the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\DRIVERS\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\Class\SDMemory_Class
Added Key High_Capacity
Inserted String BlockTransferSize 64 (0x000040)
DisablePowerManagement 1 (0x000001)
Still does not solve the standby/resume issue. There is more about IPAQ models on the following link but nothing that hasn't been tried here. Seems like a common thing with most, if not all, IPAQ models:
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service...47626+1223028140351+28353475&threadId=1174150
Anything more would be greatly appreciated.
Ummmm... it does sound that the Ipaq models do something with temporary "diverts" employed by the additional code that reads SDHCs?
I wonder if there is something you can do with Mortscript, i.e. a script which runs only after a resume. But I see that you cannot identify what has to be changed in the Registry to make the device return to running the new SDHC code! I wonder if there is some shortcut or pointer in the Windows folder that is ignored on a warm restart/resume.... Might be worth investigating?
Can't be of any more help.....
I assume you have looked in the Mortscript thread on this site. But if not, may be worth a look?
I flashed to the htc release wm 6.1 but accidentally did a foreign version. I flashed it again with the US release and it works fine except the symbols E, D, X, W, S, Z, Q, and A are not working correctly. They input a different symbol.
I went to do the keyboard fix...
"Goto the following registry entry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]
There is a key called 'Layout' and it is in Decimal.
The default value of English ROM is 20409, and Chinese ROM is 20404 (both are in hexadecimal)."
...and the value was already 132105 (20409 in decimal)
I went ahead and changed it to 132104 and then back to 132105 but it is still not working.
Is there such a program that would allow me to easily re-map the keyboard?
Any help is appreciated!
schaps advanced config 2
Thanks!
I ended up just finding this fix a little further down the page...

Apologies for jumping onto this thread, seems the best place really.
I've just bought a HTC Hermes, and it has WM 6.1 installed, using it on the Orange UK network.
My only problem is, when pressing ! I get @, and when pressing Y i get Z.
I've ensured all language and keyboard options are set to UK, however I just don't seem to be able to change the keyboard map to full UK, although physically the keyboard is correct, just not the SW side of things.
I was just wondering if someone could help me, if you let me know where I need to look, i'll be able to help you, just not used anything MS based for the past 4 years, so its a bit of a foreign object now.
Thank you,

Hi there,
I'm actually new to Smartphones, and the Tytn / Hermes was going cheaply online (ebay unfortunately), but the phone itself is excellent and is easy to use from back in my windows days.
Most is familiar, but seeing how far Windows can go before I want to switch to Linux.
Where would I get the ACT? Is it downloadable from here as a development tool, or is it online needing payments etc?
Thank you,
greee, u can get it at schaps website here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070&highlight=advanced
galaxys,
I've downloaded the ACT, along with a pocket msn, and neither will install.
Do i need to put them somewhere for it to install correctly? Just i'm only getting access to my memory card.

So far kareem, i'm getting an XML output for the ACT, and for Pocket MSN it reports:
Setup Is Not a valid Pocket PC application.
With the ACT, i've no option to install, although the setup file I have was meant to be a cab file.
Thank you,
Scratch all that, got both PocketMSN and ACT installed today! For some reason the keyboard was in German, so switched that back!
Thanks guys!
Now got to find uber cool stuffs for my phone...
