Upgrading without USB????????? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

I have my USB not working since few days. Tried all possible solutions shown in the various posts but no result.
One way mentioned in one forum is to upgrade the ROM to solve the probem. But question is how to upgrade when USB is not working????
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure about Universal, but some may be able to upgrade via the SD card.

Can some body help me to upgrade my universal through SD card

I assume that it must be possible to use some form of wireless connection to update the files? The reason i say this is because of the message that you get when downloading the ROM update from tmobile site says something about downloading and running from PC and not direct to ppc? Does activesync work via a bluetooth connection? If so then i guess you could try running the update through that.

Upgrade ROM--- PROBLEM

Hello!
I own a HTC Universal and I just upgraded ROM to the T-Mobile's new one.
The problem is my Universal had a problem on the USB connector (felt down the Universal) and I have to go to assistance for warranty.
The thing is I can't go there with other ROM than Qtek (mine is Qtek 9000).
I can't upgrade ROM with a cable!
So I have a question! Is there a way to upgrade ROM with Bluetooth or putting the ROM's file on SD and execute it from there.????
Best regards,
Deiota
What version of Active Sync have you installed? I had some problems with upgrading the rom to, but when I installed Active Sync 4.2 beta it worked fine.
I guess you missunderstood.
Physically I can't attach the USB from PC to PPC.
I don't have where to put it into!

Is it possible to change the ROM without activesync?

Hi, i have a T-Mobile MDA Compact III (UK), as original, and want to change it from WM5 to WM6, i have been reading through the forums, and havent heard anything from people being able to change it without a PC connection. I can charge off USB, but activesync doesnt find it (tried with known working cables, and different PCs). I have come to the conclusion that when i charge it in the car, its got broken (as mentioned on one of the threads).
So, is it possible to CID unlock/change the ROM from the Mico SD card?
Cheers,
I had the same problem, just bring it backk to T-mobile, they will fix it
You can update copying the new rom on the sd card and doing an hard reset. There is a thread about this.
ok, cheers guys i think i'll go pay t-mobile a visit so i can hack my phone lol
You can flash only 'official' new system by SD. I've tried to flash other .mbh (and USPL too) but it impossible ;((((
i can't find HTC service center in Moscow that can help me ;(
when official WM6 for HTC P3300 will out ???

Upgraded to the "wrong" WM6 version

I have an unlocked i-mate JASJAM phone (Hermes 100 model) that I decided to use instead of my regular T-Mobile phone (the Dash, another HTC phone).
It worked fine until we decided that it was time to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.0 (from 5.0)… did a quick search, found a downloadable Windows Mobile 6.0 image and went ahead and did it.. without any thought. As a result, we downloaded the Australian telecom Telstra’s WM6.0 image on my device.
The Telstra WM6 image lets me:
1. Turn ON the phone without problems.
2. Sync Outlook using Active Sync via a USB connection
3. Access the internet when using a WiFi connection.
BUT does not recognize the T-Mobile SIM card (the phone still shows as being unlocked).
I have tried flashing a "neutral" image using instructions from this site but it either says that the phone is not connected (it is via the USB) or tells me that it is not the right utility.
What can I do to get a new WM6 flashed on my Hermes 100 and how? T-Mobile will not help me as the Hermes is not their phone.
Thank you for your help!

Flash with any WWE ROM like Schap's WM6.0 v4.30, but be sure to upgrade your SPL to 2.10 Olipro and better to upgrade your radio version also.
before upgrading the radio make sure you find out which is "best" in your area.... Upgrading the radio is one of the riskiest thing you can do as it is MAJOR trouble if things go wrong generaly resulting in a brick(pda still works but no phone function)... also there has been some problems associated with radios suddenly not working. if your radio seems to be working fine then leave it alone as the wrong radio can result in BAD reception and fast battery drain. Make sure you do a search b4 upgrading this so you go in with eyes wide open. Cheers

I think you may have learnt a lesson here sir, these devices NEED you to think when you are upgrading them or you will end up one of the many people trying to unbrick their phone.

Thank you all for your replies. Yes, I do feel absolutely stupid!
I am in the Seattle area of the US. Is it important?
have you tried putting the device in bootmode/-screen before connecting to your PC (through USB)?
Or maybe even flash from SD?
Yes, I have followed the process outlined in this forum many times but I either get the message that the device is not connected (as soon as it starts to flash, it is kicked out).
From what I have been able to gather, it is the radio that is blocking the SIM card and any flashing (unless it is from the Australian Telco Telstra whose image I managed to download... why they would allow that is another question!).
Thoughts?

upgrade rom without pc connection

hi everyone!
I got one Tytn where the USB port don't work at all, it's broken totally.
Is it possible to flash his ROM without connecting to PC? How?
I do the research but I didn't found anything.
please help
thanks in advance
actually, I found similar topic for HTC Diamond. Does anyone know is it the same with HTC Tytn? How to upgrade ROM only from Internal Storage?
I don't think that there's a method to flash from internal storage but you can flash a new rom using an SD card.
That method is explained in the wiki right here. I use it all the time because I use linux and I'm too lazy to dual boot to windows just to flash a rom.
Out of curiosity, if the usb port is broken, how do you recharge the device?
well, I have mine Tytn that I use for charging and I have 3 batteries: old one, new and one from that broken Tytn
thanks for replying, that's exactly what I needed.
