I woke up, turned off the alarm, lay back down, went back to sleep. I woke up later on, picked up the BA, dead.
If I sit it in the cradle (battery or not) the red led stays on, the battery on its own, it charges, the unit on its own, red led comes on. The blue one has started to come on faintly as well.
Any ideas?
The BA is presently sitting with the battery out so that the backup can run down, I have tried every type of reset, with no response.
If this fails.. there will be no way in hell that I will every buy or reccomend any HTC product to anyone.
Anyone got a spare motherboard for sale?

can you get bootloader ?
if you can get bootloader just re-flush it but make sure your battry in full
Nup.. can even get that. After 1/2 hr with the battery out, the unit still comes up with a red light..
Im going to leave the battery out for the rest of the day.. If that fails, I suspect a new motherboard or a hammer is in order.

it happen to me before , I let battery out and change full battery and put it back to bootloader and flush new rom , it work, how long you had BA ?
Ive had it close to a year.
the battery, battery lock, or micro switch may have malfunctioned.. you will get the red light in these cases
*dies of relief*
Its ALIVE!
Seems the battery charge circut temporarily crapped itself. The phone ran flat (shouldnt have.. probably reported charge incorrectly. Hasnt done that since I installed BatteryPack Pro though..) and refused to accept a charge.. Possibly a dodgy switch. I placed the battery into the cradle on its own, gave it 10 mins and placed it back on the phone.
I booted the phone and then stuck it straight back onto the cradle, reinstalled all the software, restored the backup..
Alls working now.
*RELIEF*
That, was the only problem I have EVER had with my XDA.. I use it often, have installed a LOT of software and use multiple SD cards. No hassles. I soft reset the phone occasionally.. Usually a precautionary measure or if my genesis/megadrive emulator crashes..

Hi all,
Noob user here
I've a problem with my XDA IIs that I thought I'd get some advice on rather than dispensing of it. Basically...it won't switch on. When plugged into mains the red light comes on for a bit then goes off.
Phone was working perfectly, put it in my pocket got home and nothing, assumed it crashed but doesn't respond to anything. Has been sat on my wardrobe for over a year but could do with using it for sat nav.
Any advice on what to try? Could be the battrey but don't wanna fork out extra cash for a new one as it's even more money lost
If I wasn't to fix it, any idea on what it's worth? Screen is unmarked and it has all standard accessories with it.
Ta
Save you BA man! More or less it's the battery (I think). Or the internal battery is drained to 0%. Have you tried charging it first for a couple of minutes?
Yeah tried charging overnight. Charge light comes on for a bit then goes out. Does the same thing when connected via usb, red light comes on but it doesn't register on the pc.
Was working fine but then one day it just woudn't come on. Would like to keep it if I can, got a touch diamond too now, but this is actually a better phone to use!
try to use a different battery first. And let's see what happens next.
Yeah, I may have to but want to avoid as much extra cost as I can
Bit more info, using the docking station plugged into the mains:
Batt alone - Charge light on dock comes on.
BA alone - Red light on BA comes on.
BA with batt attached - no lights on.
Any ideas??
can you try to put it in bootloader mode?

Don't know how to
Plus it doesn't actualls switch on or register on the PC, so can I do much to it?
It's just like what I did with my BA a few days ago, I am flashing it with a new ROM and while in the process I intentionally unplugged the cable during the process and I got an error on my PC and my BA does not turn on anymore. I tried to put it in bootloader mode a couple of times and it did and I re-flashed it again. And it works. Check the wiki...

no need to buy at once, borrow first, then if your BA works using another's batt, thats the time you need to decide spending... cheers
The same problem I had!!!!!!!!!!
I had this trouble... and... YUP!!!!! is the backup battery.
So you cant charge your BA via USB if the main batt reaches less than 35% so keep it safely above 35% men...
BTW... if you have your batt less than 35% the OS can be runing just a little seconds so your batt is dying is not truth that it have 35% it has almost 5% trust me...
Yes!!!! the red led Turns On a little then Goes off... so sad isnt it?... now your backup batt is almost 0% thats why your red led appears... so...
Get a craddle USB-AC_Charging base it has a backtrace to charge apart the batt charge it individual. Once you get a full charged main batt, let your BA rest a little on the freezer to obtain a little power of the Backup batt... (YES ON THE FREEZER!!! ) at least 3 minutes before you plug the main batt.
It wakes up the device... maybe it becomes a few seconds on but... is enough.... if it starts... cradle your entire device on the craddle and wait till its full charged... again the green led appears cause the main is full but let it charge more and more... caus there is no led indicator for backup batt.
NOP!!!!!!! I dont do the freezer trick when i had this problem... cause i get it works faster than you...
Hope this works... post your adventure men....
Red Hanks/Que - Tried both those (ok, maybe not the freezer bit!), and stil no joy. Gonna go out over the weekend and see if a repair shop can try another battrey. Otherwise I may be saying goodbye :-(
Phezthie - The BA was rare when new, now they are non-existent. No chance of borrowing a friends.
Cheers for the help guys.
Well it is a nice idea!
you can make a modded battery for BA with two nokia bl 5c taiwan batts... check the post on winmo 6 subforum.
In my opinion. it's the internal battery since you didn't use the phone for over a year. Hope you can make your BA alive again because there's so much nice apps waiting out there...
I was using it daily before this though, it suddenly stopped working one day. It did however crash a few times before it finally went. I'll have a read up on changing internal batt. Red...I'm gonna try and save it!
Ok...keep us posted and good luck mate!

both batteries, main and backup, could be the reason thats why you need to determine which one of it by isolating the cause of the problem. to know if its the main battery, you can improvise by using different battery with same voltage rating (3.7volts, no need to worry as to the Ah rating), but be sure to connect the proper polarity to the BA's correct pin terminals, otherwise, power circuit of your BA will be compromised.
As to the backup battery, you can do nothing it but to replace if defective. the "freezer trick" is actually one of the shattering myths of electronics and cannot be relied upon to have an optimal performance, as it neither charge nor extend the life of the battery. it simply reduces the the power dissipation (power loss due to heat and resistance) during the initial boot so that it can draw enough power to run unit in its chargeable condition.
but since it is not prossible to borrow or no available battery can be used as a test unit, I suggest that you try the first procedure aforementioned, this of course, if you are familiar with battery polarities and know the corresponding terminals of the unit. regards
Hmmmm, my diamond has a 3.7v batt...never thought of that!
I'm near preston, with the origional battery . .
I'm near preston, with the origional battery . . fully charged, will last 6/12Hrs=using it, P.M. me ur postcode + House #, I will send it to you to try
(stick with the BA, new HTC Elf is half the PPC, that the BA is!!!!)
FleaBay'd a 2400mAh (incl shipping)=under £10GBP !!! (late last year)

Cheers mate, but I've just paid for one off ebay so I'll just wait for that to come now. If it doesn't do it I may be selling up...
Fingers crossed
Ok, new battrey arrived this morning. Gave it a charge and just tried it...
....no change
Screen, green and blue top corner and red end call lights momentarily flash when I press the power button. Then nothing.
Both batteries seem to charge in the cradle but not in the phone.
So, any other suggestions oh technically superior ones??
Btw, I received 2 batteries this morning, so I've listed the new one to get some cash back here:

Hi
I just Flashed my BA with xplode 6.5 R7. Started fine but suddenly it felt from my hand from 6cm on the table.
The screen went black and my phone wont turn on. When i try to charge it with or without battery the light at the top right goes red and flickers sometimes.
can some one grime me an advice please.
yes is dead!
sorry to hear it.... man!
Yes man. I'm really angry but if someone can give me an advice to try and fix it it would be nice.
the red blinking light w/ or w/o battery and the sudden turning off could mean, the battery broke or the electrical supply is somewhere cut off. before throwing it out or putting it on ebay you can always disassemble it and check, if any specific part seems broken

http://www.land-of-kain.de/ppc/mda3/disassembly/
I will give it another shoot tonight.
I will post something but not too soon because i will at a competition this week so i don't have ti much time.
The batter is OK both of them.
I think the power is cut of somewhere but i don't know how to find it .
I with the phone will fix it self. LOL
maybe this will help
-this hapened to me too when i was upgarding my xda++ it was in the bootloader at time and i was playing with it when it fell from the table (bout 1 metre)
-tried almost anything - charging, connect it to usb, hard reset nothing but the red light at right top blinked red as i connected it to the charger.....
-i was about to give up that time when suddenly my 3 years old sis come to my room and take my precious(doomed) o2 xda iis and threw it away(bout 5 metre)!!
-the battery was parted from the device when i picked it up(after torturing my sister).. i noticed something on that moment, the blue light at the top left blinked.. so i put the battery back and then my device came to life again..thanks sis!!! i then putted it back to cradle and flashed the rom(r7.1 by x-plode)
-so what i can suggest to you is to put the device into the charger, take the battery out, when the top left light blinked take the battery out and then put it back....hopefully this would help you out..
Hi everyone. I think my Vogue might be toast. I am very distressed at this because I will have to buy a new one (cause I love my Vogue).
The light at the top (behind the speaker “grate”) shows red when I plug it in to charge it. It will not turn on. I have tried resetting it with the stylus in the little reset hole and removing the battery and putting it back in... No luck.
Any ideas how I could get it to turn back on? It was fine the other day.
Regards,
The Fish
That happen to me to, but i keep triying, and then turns on. its annoying, i don't know a solution for that, if anyone have a solution, reply. thanks
try a different battery. mine did almost the same thing and it never turned back on.
This happened to me. Do some googling and you can find a solution - I think it might involve turning it on while the battery is removed or forcing a hard reset in that state or something.
Google is your friend.
red light
do a hard reset ...
I would try a hard reset as well. You can always do a backup with Sprite Backup which has a free 10 day trial.
No need to hard reset. This same thing happened to me when the battery went dead. I tried to charge it in the car on a sunny day and exceeded the temp rating. Got a new battery and all is well.
Hi,
So my girlfriend just got given a used HTC Desire by a friend last monday. It was locked to Orange. Like all android based devices in this house, the first thing I did was unlock all the various bits, flash a decent rom, update the radio etc. and all was working fine all week including the battery dying totally at least once.
On friday, she had to do a 22 mile charity bike cycle for work (chump) and after she got home, she spoke on the phone for a while. Then the battery died. Now it's foobarred.
When I put it on charge, light doesn't come on straight away (hinting usb-brick)
Eventually the light comes on and goes orange.
It then goes green
When I press the power button, the green light goes off and NOTHING happens.
I can't get it to connect to the PC at all.
But since I can't boot it, I can't get into recovery, I can't get the PC to see it so can't use ADB.
I've tried all sorts of combinations of removing the battery, leaving it charging for hours, leaving it with the battery, sim and microSD removed for hours and can't seem to get any life out of it.
The phone looks fine, the water indicators are all still white. My only ideas aside from some catastrophic failure on one of the boards is maybe it's the battery that's shorted itself or something. Does the Desire turn on at all when plugged in with a fudged battery?
Anyone else had a similar problem? Any ideas on how to fix it? Phone or battery?
I'm trying to hunt down someone with a HTC Desire at work so I can test their battery with it - is there any chance this phone could make an expensive paperweight from another battery too?
Thanks in advanced.
Hi.
Maybe the battery, in his last breath, overcharged some circuits and burnt them. But I hope not for you. If the red light/green light works, it means at least that some of the circuit is working so continue your chase and find yourself another battery for testing.
Try and test the battery with a multimeter just to be sure ! Also what about charger was it original htc one ?
Did you ever sort it out?

Did you got this solved? I've got myself a new phone (giveaway ) and gave my Desire to my wife. I could flash another hboot and back to cm7 without any issues, she configured her google acc etc and put it onto charger over night. But it didnt charged. On yesterday morning it then died cuz of empty battery and dont come back now...
Good morning all,
I bought a used 5x on eBay which was sole as spares because it had a red charging light, wouldn't turn on and when it did it froze.
Sounds like the dreaded bootloop of death. Awesome, easy fix. £18 and it was mine.
I got the phone and stuck it on to charge, low and behold, red light. Ok, removed the motherboard, in to the oven for a bit.... stick it back in and it powers up enough for me to boot it and allow oem unlock. Brilliant.
But then, it stayed on... for hours, 14 in fact, working perfectly. Then as soon as I plugged the charger in it just stopped working, it became unresponsive, not even a hard reset did anything, no red light, nothing.....
So I repeated the motherboard in the oven and woop woop, it fired up again, no issue.
This time I flashed the latest Oreo build, and the 4 core boot.img on the BLOD thread and it stayed on again, for almost 24 hours. Then it needed a charge so I plugged the charger in and it just froze again....
I'm wondering if there is an issue with the battery, or with the charging port, any thoughts? Or questions?
Thanks guys
did you mean pull yhe plastic body on back, remove the screws ,pullthe joints of camera, speaker and other..then pull another hardware surface..and then i find the whole motherboard and just put it into oven??
