Vodafone V1640 to XDA Exec Firmware - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Just to find out before I buy one can I flash the vodafone v1640 to XDA Exec firmware.
And if so is it a matter of just flashing one ROM onto the phone ?

Yes ! You would need to use MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe to install a different rom to the phone. Plenty of guides can be found in the forums as well as the roms files.
I would unlock the phone to while your at it too.
The O2 rom (Exec) is popular as is I-mate and Q-tec.

Worth trying??

I have a o2 xda exec. I read the forum and some people found problems on upgrading their roms to dopod chinese rom. I haven't tried the steps yet and I just wonder is the process reversible and is it easy to do? I read that someone could not even start the xda. Thx

debrand XDA Orbit

Hi all
Is it possible to debrand and xda as the firmware may be stopping me setting up push email.
Surely someone must know

You can flash any ROM for an Artemis onto an XDA Orbit as they are the same phone. If you want to flash an unbranded one you first need to use USPL otherwise you will run into problems flashing custom ROM's. Here is the thread for the USPL

I'm currently running an Orbit with the Artemis Touch 3.01 ROM.

Upgrading to WM6 official and be able to rollback ?

Hi,
I'm new to the xda-developers forum.
I've carefully read all informations available on the wiki and in various threads of the forum, and I have to say that I'm a little confused with upgrading / downgrading stuff.
First of all, I have a SPV M3100 bought in France, Simlocked to Orange France (HERM100, IPL 1.01, SPL 1.11).
I would like to test the official HTC WM6 ROM, but I'm not sure on how I should process.
First, as far as I have understood, it is a good idea to install HardSPL v7, which allows me to flash the HTC Rom on my Orange France CID-locked device. Am I right ?
Second step, I have downloaded the HTC_TyTN_FRA_3.54.256.2_103_6275_1.47.00.10_108.exe file from the following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320829
From here I'm not sure on how to proceed.
Knowing that I would like to be able to rollback to the official WM5 rom shipped by Orange France (which I have already downloaded from the wiki), what should I do:
- either flash the WM6 rom directly. I'm afraid of "overwriting" the hardspl v7 stuff in the device ?
- or extracting the content of the WM6 rom and doing all the stuff described in http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeGuide to remove the bootloader from the ROM ?
I have read some posts about custom RUU too... What does this means ? Am I concerned ?
Thank you for your help.
Florent

[ROM]Original O2 xda Orbit

hey ppl i just uploaded it for those who need it

http://www.4shared.com/file/67458555/cf2192d4/RUU_Artemis_O2_UK_342062_411350_030690_Ship.html
if you want the nbh file,, ectract the exe with winrar or any program like it.
IT's FOR O2 XDA ORBIT
it this ROM in English or German? I have a German WM6 and change it to English..Should I download your rom??
it's english and sorry for being late
thank u. i've searched alot for this rom....
So does this require cid unlocking, what does it mean by just synchronization??
since it's the ORIGINAL O2 ROM it doesn't need CID UNLOCKING if your device is O2
and what i mean by sycronizing is that just plug it with the USB cable and flash it
