Hi. New to the forum. Stuck with a problem with my Wifi...
TyTN (Hermes200) - I've run the auto unlock SIM/CID w/ HardSPL 1.40?. Then flashed the "Schap's WM6 Pro 4.31 ROM [WWE]".
Everything seems to be inorder; Except I can't manage to use my WIFI connection. Like it seems to be connecting to my router - But doesn't seem to be transfering data...
... I've been thru the wiki, and did a search of the forums but couldn't find any info on this issue... Maybe I've configured something wrong? I've been thru the Con Manager a dozen times...
When using Explorer to access a site i geta pop up error;
"The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later." But Wifi remains connected to my routher with a 100% strength.
As a newb; I am still unsure as to the whole issue with different versions Radio ROM's? I was under the impression updating the RADIO wasn't mandatory thing?
Thanks~
please delete. i am an idiot.

Jumped the gun too quick uh! Hey atleast you were able to admit your mistake, I appreciate that!
Try this rom.

Fixed similar problems with WPA2 connection for me.
I just flashed a Softbank X01HT with Japanese Xbow ROM, version for foreign SIM cards since I am using it in the UK – see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=302785). Everything seems to be working fine except there does not appear to be WPA2 support, which I thought was standard in WM6, and for some reason WM5torage does not work. Any idea how I can fix the WPA2 problem and keep the Japanese ROM?

Everything seems fine so far except for two things: It does not appear to support WPA2 encryption, which I thought was standard in WM6, and for some reason WM5torage does not work even though I have tried using it with different SD cards and different computers. Each time I get an error when the USB Mass Storage Device driver is being installed. First of all, is there a way to fix the WPA2 issue and still keep the Japanese ROM? Anyone else have any ideas on WM5torage?

Hmm no, restart your router, edit, what's your hermes, dopod? jasjam? 8525?
nope, many other devices can connect to wifi fine (even wizard)
mine is HTC hermes, not branded
im currently putting the earliest version original rom back on
the wifi was working fine when i got the phone, now its screwed
it cant be the radio either, because cell was still working perfect
i am very
my wizard survived multiple rom updates/radio updates/blows to the head and never had any problems

You'll be surprised what a restart to the router can do, have you done that yet?
lol yes i have
lol
now my device is completely bricked
still saying spl 2.10.olipro after original rom flash
i believe i can unbrick

Well good luck with that, it will say 2.1 even after original rom. Read mrvanx guide on my signature for downgrading spl.
i will either unbrick with sd card or hammer
its choice
only thing im worried is after unbrick will wifi work
edit: just unbricked radio, rom loads now
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
i fixed it!?
i put radio 1.47.30.10 on instead of the 1.5x
umm....i guess i will try a rom that didnt involve ****ing up my wifi and see what happens.....im definately not touching my radio anymore though
hmm now i can officially say WTF
my wifi worked just fine with the original WM5 and the updated radio
now with CRC's rom (i thought PDAViet's was the problem) my wifi no longer works
any ideas? its kinda strange to me two roms dont work with wifi
i should try one from a diffrent WM build

I think you are doing something wrong, if wifi works, it works, no matter what ROM, I have used CRC and PDAViet's 19900 build before, and it works fine. Radio only up/down the signal strength to your carrier.
how is that possible?
the original WM 5 i just connected and it worked perfect, i tested IE and everything
just flashed CRC's rom, and now wifi doesnt work at all again
please tell me what possibly could be wrong
it gives me the error 'Cannot connect to the network. Check your network and service provider settings and try again.'
it was just working perfect before

Have you run HTC connection wizard/checked your wifi settings? Do you have your router set to only accept some mac addressee's? Do you use DHCP or give each device static IP's? Do you have a WAP/WEP get, if so, did you put it in correctly?
Never had any wifi problems with my hermes, now, Blueangel, you where lucky if it would turn on
yep everything, i turned off everything and completely unsecured my network
im going to try an older WM build and see if this fixes the problem
in Wireless LAN it seems the connection establishes ok, then it just cuts me off and said it cant connect to the network
like i said, WM5 just connected on its own perfectly ok
k... im going to try one more thing and thats it
k my wifi will only work with WM5 and will sometimes require a soft reset if power is turned off while its running on WM6
doesnt work at all on 6.1 either
but WM5 it works fine
any suggestions?
k well im gonna figure this out either way
im taking the official wm6 rom (os only) from htc and see if it works
if it doesnt, im gonna pull the wm5 official rom, and if that works, im going to be

Sounds like you might have dodgy radio hardware, everything else connects okey? To the wifi that is, and have you tried another wifi network?
HTC's 3.35.255.1 Pre-Release works ****ing fine
yes, everything else works (as well as on all other roms)
i even tried Schapps WM6 rom, wifi doesnt work
the HTC release i have now is WM6 too and has no wifi problems
i really dont know, but iv had enough of this for one night
ill deal with this tommorow, the official release is working fine
hmmm iv been doing some reading
i read http://groups.google.com/group/micr...ireless/browse_thread/thread/fa20e23f074a391b
it didnt fix my problem, however, when i use a static IP address in settings, it seems to connect and establish a connection fine, it just wont work with it
when i dont enter the settings, it screws up and disconnects
anyways i think this problem is solvable, im just going to have to figure out how
edit: yes i put a non-working wifi rom back on, if it works in offical roms, then it has to work in 6.1 roms somehow....
January 9 Update: aGPS now working. If you're having QPST issues, try the bigjr99's fix that ScratchyPDX recommended here. This allowed me to get QPST to recognize my Vogue in XP. THe real issue, though, was allowing the leaked Verizon ROM to run its customizations. This installed custom Verizon drivers that essentially lock down the GPS even if you reflash the radio. The fix I used can be found here.
-------------ORIGINAL POST-----------------
I posted this over at PPCGeeks, but I figured I'd try XDA too. I've tried the instructions both on the XDA wiki and on the PPCGeeks post, unsuccessfully. I'm not sure what the problem is. I haven't seen anyone with a similar issue, and I've been fiddling with various settings for a while.
I'm still having a problem getting this to work. It doesn't automatically install the drivers, I have to manually select them (plus, it only works in Vista). So then I follow all the steps exactly, the only difference is I only get one COM port in QPST (com3, which says SURF... next to it). So once I set everything up, GMaps and LiveSearch both find the GPS but never find any satellites.
My Vogue was set up as follows: xv6900 > official leaked Verizon ROM > 2.31 unlocker > NFSFAN Verizon 1.09, and uses the 3.77 radio. I had GPS working great with the Valhalla CAB on the leaked ROM, and I'm considering reverting back to that.
Please help! Is anyone having the same problem?

Edit: I'm evidently not the only one with this problem. Hopefully it'll get some more visibility.
I am experiencing the same issue. Trying NFSFAN 1.10 right now. I'll let you know if I find a solution, it could work for you as well...
Thanks for the reply-glad I'm not the only one. I quite like my current ROM in terms of speed and stability, and I've read reports of it working on NFSFAN Verzion 1.08, so hopefully it get sfigured out soon.
Same issue here. I've tried using NSF's 1.10 and Drellisdee's 1.12 and can't get either to work. I haven't reverted back to the leaked rom yet, but I was working fine with the leaked rom and valhalla also. Hope someone can find the fix.
Take a look at this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3123850&postcount=7
If I understand your problem description, I was having the same problem until I read that post. It worked!
Good luck.
BTW - I'm using NFSFAN's Verizon 1.09 ROM
same issue here with OMJ ROM
I was able to get through the qpst programming and loaded the GC VerizonaGPSfix cab. I still can't lock on any satellites.
Maybe not ROM Specific.
I am using Radio 3.42.50.
My issue is not getting qpst to work as i have already done this. It seems that there is a gps issue with using the 3.37 radio on these roms even if you have gotten it running on the stock leaked rom with customizations run.
madsuse, you must be having some other issues as with your radio veraion and a properly run agps fix you should have no problem with omj's roms. I had the same set up as you prior to the leaked rom with no issues.
This thread at PPC Haven might help: http://www.ppchaven.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=168&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=25
I've tried some of what was suggested, it still isn't working for me, but it might help. Some people are having similar problems.
@bigjr99: I think that might be it. Quite a few people have had trouble with the aGPS fix and NFSFAN ROMs, especially on the VZW radio. However, it has been done before, so I'm really not positive. I"m going to try the new Bell radio 3.42.50 and see if it makes a difference, then I'll give up on NFSFAN (apparently he's left several forums now, once for warez and then just recently for abusing moderator priveleges) and switch to either OMJ or WDM.
@ScratchyPDX: thanks! it works on my computer (in XP) now, no need to borrow a vista one. But it doesn't change anything else, I can reach QPST and successfully program w/out getting any satellites.
I am definately thinking it has something to do with the 3.37 radio and running customizations on the leaked rom. I tried multiple different roms including nsfan, omj, drellisdee, and one other. Neither the agps fix or valhalla worked on any of them.
I have now reloaded the leaked rom and again let customizations run. did the agps fix and google maps would show me in the middle of the pacific. Ran valhalla and moved around files to the correct places and instant dead on gps.
I don't know what the problem is, but it looks like I am stuck with the leaked rom until I go back to radio 4.42
bigjr, you mean I guess radio 3.42?
I've confirmed the problem is related to not the radio, but the CUSTOMIZATIONS on the Verizon ROM. They replace the GPS drivers with some idiotic VZ-Navigator-specific crap. If you're feeling daring try this and let me know how it works:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=581029&postcount=204
So, no problem with NFSFAN or even the radio. just the customizations, which is hard to revert to (cuz there's no previous VZW ROM, and running Bell/Sprint customization willl prob. just f*ck things up even more). I'm not sure how the 3.42 radio-only flash would affect the drivers. This is my understanding as of now, correct me if I'm wrong!
This may do the trick, I haevn't tried it yet though: http://wiki.ppchaven.com/index.php?title=Pocket_PC_WIki:FIX_VERIZON_GPS
Yep, that was the problem. Awesome sub-15s locks indoors with mediocre cell reception. Anyone who let leaked-VZW customizations run before flashing a custom ROM be sure to check out this post!
If you are using my Verizon Rom, only steps 1-15 must be performed from the AGPS Fix
AWESOME!
Thanks, now I can use GPS freely.
Fabio
@NFSFAN: Yep, everything was already set up. But the VZW Leaked customizations still screw things up. Great ROM NFSFAN.
Have any of you guys tried upgrading to the Bell 3.42.50 radio?
I've been running it since August. I use both google maps and TomTom6.
I am a Pilot with AirCanada Jazz, I live in BC, I am based in Montreal.
I fly varied routes across the East coast / Eastern canada
My GPS never fails to pick up sats within 10 seconds, no matter what program, no priming necesary. I'll use TomTom in my car in Montreal, fly home to Castlegar then use it in my Van there....no probs.
I even showed it off once using Google maps to show us lurching down the runway in Montreal and departing east, it kept up untill we accelerated through 160 kts, then the maps couldn't keep up (still showed lat/long though)
Cheers

jmitr, I've floashed my radio to 3.42 and back before enabling aGPS, and there's very little difference in trems of connectivity. Some people report that 3.37 gives slightly better service, although 3.42 may work better in low-reception areas (I can't confirm this, I've just seen posts about it). I'm very satisfied with 3.37 though, I'm trying not to mess around to much now that mine is working so well.
If you do choose to upgrade radios, you would have to reconfigure using QPST on Verizon. I'm not sure what your carrier is, but you may be able to find the QPST codes/instructions over at 2nd post of this thread on PPCGeeks.
Edit: oh wait, according to your signature you don't have to worry about any of this. This thread covers problems on Verizon Wireless XV6900s. I guess that was more of a suggestion for us, and no, that doesn't work. The files that the VZW ROM brought along are not affected by radio switches, sadly. I've tried.
help
i have been working at this for 3 days now. have done all the steps in many different forums. the lastest was the agps fix form here in xda. i then installed tom tom but stated that there is no valid gps device. i was ot able to dl the agps provisioning cab though. the link does not work does anyone have cab? tried using the valahalla cab as well but that still did not work.

Tell me all the ROM updates and radio updates you've installed, and I may be able to help.
Also, Test using Google Maps or Microsoft LiveSearch. Once those lock on, then launch TomTom.

Hmm, I'm really no expert on this stuff, I can only speak for what worked for me. If you let the customizations run when you flashed the ROM, then Valhalla should be working for you and I'm not sure what the problem is. If you haven't let them run, you need to perform this fix.
Hi,
I've upgraded my XDA IIs a few times now and am currently using WM6 (ROM version 5.60.00 WWE) having followed the instructions on this website. I am beginning to get various errors and crashed on my device so I thought I would revert to the original manufacturers ROM (o2 - WM2003 - UK).
I went to their website and downloaded the ROM but when I tried to load the ROM back onto my device I received an error telling me that the ROM I was loading on to my device was from a different country/region than the one currently on my device and the installation had to stop.
I am assuming that somewhere in the uprading of my device (which I understand was completely at my own risk) the country of origin or location of the device/ROM has changed or has been replaced by one from a different location/region or one that has no defined location or region.
My biggest problem with the WM6 ROM is that my BlueTooth GPS device doesn't seem to work with the TomTom software anymore. TomTom can identify my GPS device but doesn't track any satellite, therefore it's pretty pointless. My Radio version is 1.12.00, all my COM ports are configured correctly as is my Baud rate. My TomTom version is 6.010.
Everything used to work perfectly with the WM2003 ROM and if I can't revert back or solve my problem then I may just bin it. Before that though I will try another BlueTooth GPS device... just incase!
Cheers.
Maybe you can try the latest ROM WM6.5 21189 before you revert back to wm20003. You can find all the stock ROMs in our FTP or you can xplode he got everything.
i had the same problem when going back to wm2003se for storage resizing purposes. as the roms published here are WWE roms, for your first upgrade you need to use Maupgrade_noID.exe and put the device into bootloader mode, for reverting you have to do the same. in my case, the german MDA3 rom aldo declined country error (WWE) and then even "this rom is not designed for your device", since uit identified as blueangels, where german devices are heavily branded and for the official update need to indentify as MDAs.
so just do the same as in upgrading:
1. Bootloader
2. MAupgrade_noID
and you will have no problem. it is just a matter of the carrier protecting their customers from bricking their devices, if they are unexperienced and maybe really picked the wrong device's rom or people from other countries try and steal their branded roms (yeah, like that's ever gonna happen!).
EDIT: I just saw the reason for going back is a bluetooth problem. I will think about it and repost here, maybe that is solvable without going back, because wm6.x is so nice, nobody should use 2003 anymore
Thanks for your replies.
I think I will try the WM6.5 first as you're quite right that WM2003 is not very nice at all!
I want to revert my pc
to Windows 95....
the first i think in... was the compatibility on apps.
It was just a little sarcasm.
OK, got an update on my bluetooth problem...
WM6.5 installed no problem, looks good and seems to be a bit quicker and smoother. Also, it gives more information in the bluetooth connections list than WM6 did as to what the status is of my bluetooth devices.
My device lists my bluetooth GPS as "paired" but "not connected". When I try to connect I get an error saying "Your device did not connect with BN909GR. The connection failed or the passcode is incorrect."
It looks more and more like it's my bluetooth GPS receiver which is knackered.
Have you tried pairing the GPS with another device? I assume it should pair with any device, ie another phone etc?
Hi,
Yes, I can pair my bluetooth receiver with ordinary mobile phones. I cannot test its functionality though as neither of the phones I have available to pair it with have any soft ware which uses the GPS receiver.
I haven't yet got hold of another Bluetooth GPS receiver to try with my BA...
Hi folks,
I upgraded my N7100 a couple of weeks ago to rr-n-5.8.x. I then used the built-in upgrade function and I'm currently running RR-N-5.8.5-20171206-n7100-Final. The new ROM seems to be working well but has two notable problems:
1. When I plug into USB, Windows recognises the phone, opens Explorer but neither files nor folders are visible.
2. I'm unable to connect to the PEAP wifi network at my university.
3. (Before I updated to 5.8.5, it seemed that the phone couldn't talk to the GPS. I haven't tested my nav software since I updated.)
I previously ran a custom ROM for several years without trouble and I'm using the same USB cables and ports as I have been for over a year so I'm confident that the cables and ports are fine.
My phone can connect to WPA2 networks without a problem and I was able to connect to uni wifi prior to the upgrade to RR. My laptop connects to the uni wifi so I know that my login/password are OK.
Any ideas why I'm having these problems? Would I be best to switch to a different ROM? I don't do much with my phone but GPS, USB file access and uni wifi are essential for me.
Thanks!

Thanks for the link. I've flashed those up. Looks like my USB problem was just that I had it set to 'charge only' mode, not file transfer. So that's fixed! Heading in to uni soon so I'll get to test if the new BL/CP helped get the wifi running.
No change on the WIFI, sadly.
